mu2sa2: Every thing is made easy in Islam, so no muslim need complain about the price of ram or other animals used for ileya. You sacrifice an animal only if you can afford one. Simple. Islam is a Knowledge-based religion, a religion of scholarship - so you must learn the rules about any act of ibadah. Ileya sacrifice is only for those who can afford it.Even if a ram sells for only 1000 naira there will still be people who can not afford it. Those who Allah has provided with the means should give a share of the meat to those who are not able to do the ileya and indeed their neighbours irrespective of faith. Do not place a burden on yourself when Allah has made things easy for you -that's the beauty of Islam. May Allah guide all to the straight path, the sunnah of the prophet.Baraka lau fih, my brother, laikira bi deen, No compulsion in religion. Sacrifice only for the sake of Allah as much as you are endowed. May Allah accept our effort, Amin. |
MD yaQ: ALuu Community are killers and fools that Community should be wip away frm Nigeria UselessWhat happen in Aluu is bad and conbdemable, however that does not make all Aluu people criminals, lynching happens everywhere including Lagos, does that make everyone in the town criminlas. It is possible for people not to know about the inident until days after, depending on location. Those who have been to Uniport will know that Aluu and Choba are equal hosts to the University infact some of those who killed the children will include Uniport students because may of them leave in Aluu The main culprit in this matter is the bad debtor that misled everyone to believe that his creditors were armed robbers. |
This idea of equality before the law is an idea mouthed by politicians when it suit them. I will understand when a professor says this in the classroom. In real life, there is nothing like equality before the law, unless you want to live in dream land. If not, tell me how Obama is equal to the average Joe in New Orleans. Or tell me how you are equal to Fashola that has mouthed this talk more than anyone else. The masses love to live in a dreamland. If CJN of a soverign nation cannot use emergency traffic lane while on National assignment, tell me who will. I was once in a boarding queue in Brazil and three guys from behind went straight towards the boarding gate. The eagle eyed security guys were already positioning themselves before the guys brought out their US Marine uniform. Come see salute, even civilians for queue follow dey salute. And someone here is saying equality before the law as if US Attoney General will not be allowed to ride on BRT lane if he visits, or are folks angry because she is a woman?
Don't mind them, they are equal , yet unelected First Lady shuts down cities while they sweat in the sun held up in the traffic. Very soon they will not be able to eat gala in the same hold up, what a suffering and smiling ![]() |
timbros: What if she had urgent matters nko? Is she above the law? What makes her different from me (the ordinary citizen)? Whatever happens to "lead by example"? What if I, yes me, have an emergency, can I use the lane?I dont know what law would say ooo. I no be lawyer. But come to think of it, she is third in command in hierachy of power in Nigeria. If President gets the road cleared and shutdown for him, and the same goes for unelected, unofficial First Lady, why not for head of judiciary. Also who knows if the law does not apply to Federal roads.. People break the rule on Third mainland and Ijora bridge all the times what any arrest , I guess |

Inna lillah waina illehi rajihun, may Allah accept his soul, forgive his shortcomings and raise replacement for the Ummah, Amin. |
These hard measures are neccessary but I am not sure that Sanusi is going about it the right way. These govt made billionires will just close shops, lay off workers and worsen already precarious economic conditions. |
Why are lawyers complaining, no be dem defended Okija fraudster in court to become Governor while he was still in EFCC detention?. Make dem enjoy am. |
Nigeria is really in trouble, they wantt go to heaven but no want die, . Govt is doing what will destroys the currency but the same govt can't take right decision. Soludo can't do it, Sanisi can't either. I hope this doesn't turn out the way Ibb agreed to yield to so called popular view on IMF loan ooo. I dey watch. |
thegoodjoehunt:You see, I think the best option is to work on the economy to make Naira appreciate on stronger economy if the focus is to ensure masses don't loose out. Any kind of re denomination will result in some kind of inflation. Ghana is very expensive now compared to pre re-denomination period. |
Cabals have taken over, NNPC man was on radio this evening that they will not repair the damaged line at Arepo because they were attacked while attempting repairs few days ago by gun men. Cabal/vandals are stronger than Nigeria now. Why can't govt move a whole battalion to vandalized point to protect NNPC people if they are on top of situation as they normally claim. ![]() |
thegoodjoehunt: You gave 2 options. I always supported Soludo's idea.I bet that one too has its own issues including inflation due to people's mentality. Imagine N1,000,000 salary suddenly becomes N10,000. Don't you think pure water seller will find it hard to sell at 10k from N10. she may end up at 5k, what is that if not inflation. Travelers to Ghana before and after re-denonation can tell you that Ghana is kinda expensive now. No easy way out if you got yourself into a mess. Naira is in a mess right now and you can't eat your cake and have it. |
thegoodjoehunt:I assumed we have some meeting points on this N5k introduction. I know also that going by definition of ifeci up there, there are so many other factors that can lead to inflation apart from N5k notes . I assume also that you agree with me that Naira as it is right now neeed some form of management solution. Either re denominate down by droping zeros or up by creating higher denominations. Please volunteer what you would do if your were in the shoes of SLS today to help the case of Naira. |
thegoodjoehunt:So if Nigerians can't control themselves what should the CBN do? Allow Naira to slide? At the present value, alternative to higher denominations is the removal of zeroes which Soludo attempted and stopped, but something needed to be done to assist Naira management. It is now very difficult to carry $1000 worth of Naira on ones person because highest denomination is two low. N1000 = $6 = £4. Also If it costs more than N10 or N20 to print those currencies as claimed by CBN then its not advisable. Even simple paper requirement comparison will show that something needed to be done. $1000 = N160,000, dollar will be 10 pieces Naira will be 160 notes. Cashless policy is still intact, the policy did not say, " no more cash" it's to encourage cashless transaction by placing penalties for withdrawal or lodging certain amount of cash, in any form of denomination. Looters will continue to steal, whatever denomination is inncirculation. Ribadu was bribed using $ by Ibori. We should not let thieves and corrupt element dictatate how lives of majority is run. |
thegoodjoehunt:Bros, technically speaking inflation should be result of more money chasing few goods, am I right? Please tell me how introduction of higher denomination of currency will lead to increase in price of commodities if people's income are not increased and govt spending is controlled. Only Nigerians mentality can lead to artificial inflation if out of arrogance you want to show off by spending N5k notes unnesseccasily or decide not to take or spend coins. If pure is continued to be supplied to sellers at present price, would you pay N50 for a sachet just because N10 is in coin? |
Reference: Very interesting debate so far. One question though. If the higher denotes are for high value transactions, imports and BDC's of sorts, please can anyone tell me why these group isn't at the forefront of cashless. Surely their turnover and sophistication should afford them a host of media and exotic payment toys. But pity the vendor in traffic after munching his gala and sticking that evil note in his face. Maybe SLS expects them to invest in PoS terminals while the big boys do cash. Funny. Oya debate.SLS: See, Suraj. It is not. First, know that this is not a monetary policy but just currency management. Our cashless policy never says there should not be any cash at all. It only discourages heavy cash in the system. Whether in N5 notes or N5000 notes, the limit of N500,000 will still be N500,000. So what are we saying? It also enhances operational efficiencies. The number of times banks load their ATM machines will also reduce. Banks can now load up to 5 times the value in their ATM and reduces rate of stocking and associated costs. The cost of printing and managing currency will also reduce. That was Sls responded to Jarus. https://www.nairaland.com/1029840/conversation-sanusi-new-currency-policy |
ifeci: i like ur write up but comparing the economies of US and GB with Nigeria will a be faulty analogy because these guys have already existing facilities that will accept coins, u can buy drinks, gas etc and pay with coins, or go to the bank and deposit coins cos u hv machines installed to accept that form of payment but in Nigeria, where do u spend that, even Banks reject coins talk less of sellers on streets and in the market or transporters, how wld the carry it? how can they easily convert or store it without having to carry dt bulky stuff around?I think coins are rejected because of their very low values as of now, in Cote D'Ivoire a drop of taxi is 200cfa, their money up to 500cfa are in coins and they happily spend them. Nigerians need to make policies work. |
Themaingate: guy are you drunk ? 75% of nigerians said no to the policy ,yet animal like you are sayn trash .Majority are not always correct all the time, especially when argument are not based totally on facts, at least Galileo Galli proved that with free fall bodies of diiffrent sizes and center of universe being the sun. We need to discuss with facts and figures. The only issue is that politicians do others things that do not make economic theories work in Nigeria. I suggest we respect opposing views, there is no issue that can be solved with only one solution. |
Honestly speaking, Naira needs to be re denominated somehow, either by removing some zeros as attempted by Soludo or printing higher denomination as currently being proposed by Sanusi. Soludo style seems better. N1000 is equal to 6USD or 4PDS at that value, N100 is about 65cents. We all know that UK has 2PDS coins ~N500. If the higher denominations are created with N50 coins, as being proposed, it should not lead to inflation, provided Nigerians are ready to resist traders antics, since there income will remain same. Nigerians need to work on attitude of spending higher denominations too. 50PDS and 100USD are not freely spent in UK and US respectively. CBN should be careful not to flood the system with proposed N5k notes too. |
billante:What SLS is saying here is that he is taking care of his own side, we need to confront those whose actions or inactions are forcing CBN to react as she is. Those responsible for roads, infrastructure, spending money any how, payment for contracts without execution etc etc. |
