MMIA on 14 Jan, 2012: Are people leaving or this is just the stranded crowd?
Watz up folks? Why is nobody talkin' abt d ASUU Strike? Seriously itz really getting sickening not hearin any thing about d strike.
that is nigeria for you, one bad news will take over another, yet bh continues to wreck havoc but are out of headlines. |
Occupy as much as you want but one thing you should bear in mind is that revolution = war in Nigeria. Anybody who is thinking of removing GEJ by any means whatsoever should just be ready for war! Nuff said.
This is unfortunate. Even the ministers of doom, NOI and SLS are saying Nigeria can pay the subsidy for a while. The wise thing to do is revert to N65 and negotiate with wider audience that would include all aspects of Nigeria, Labour?CSO/Regional leaders and cart a way forward. If war broke out, no one can determine the end. Given, the world power might support the oil reach region, but it would still end in slavery, Iraq and Libya are Arabs, they have stronger will and less corrupt yet world powers have them under slavery. Iraqi and Libya would pay for every penny and cents world power used to prosecute any war on their behalf. Amount they cannot verify or ascertain. |
^^^ Read btw the line. They will not go to work. They will sit at home. Only suspect street protest to avoid being killed by trigger happy Nigeria Police. They are still on strike. |
President would not go haggle on the table. He would send negotiating team with mandates. The buck stops on his table. |
BetaThings:He already told you, he is not a lion |
Nobody wants the president to fail. so there would be "No victor, No vanquished situation. Come to think of it, the people leading Ojota rally were the same people who rallied for GEJ to be pronounced Acting President during Yar Adua saga. It is counter productive to have either side not to agree or respected all the same. |
igbonla:lol, pls don't shut down on ESD oo, some wells may never come back again oo. PENGASSAN would do controlled shutdown, that would minimize back pressure on reservoirs and also depressurized surface lines for safety. Remember, there is life after strike. |
^^bro, main problem is that people don't listen, once you are not their guy, they switched off as soon as you start talking, even is the guy was telling them there is danger in on their way. the guy made very good point and he is in support of deregulation that is in planned and implemented in structured and transparent manner. |
mscheeeewwwwwwwwww! always reactive, always playing to the Valery, always saying what they think you like to hear. Second base jare |
The strike is on, but street and public protests rally are suspended for the 2 days. If no truce reached by end of weekend, the strike continues next week Monday. |
^^How will they believe, when all they do is always rent a crowd for mass rallies and buy voters to win elections. |
If electricity is improved, yes, price increased of 100 - 200% is okay, provided you use prepaid meter. I use N5000 worth of units card for more than a month when PHCN gives about 18 hrs daily average supply. The cost to fill about 6hrs average amount to about N30,000 per month, so for me paying N15,000 per month for 24hrs light is good deal. |
According to the Thisday page, it was a mind set before on going meeting. If that is agreed , the masses should take the fight away from hands of Labour. That would be too low for the scale of this protest. |
Babatunde Ogun can not take unilateral decision, Pengassan is part of TUC, If TUC decided he has his own exco to decided too. There are levels of decisions that he alone can not override. lets know that. It will take more that few to sabotage Union in Nigeria. manchy7531:how are the "brave" SE SS and middle best doing in the present struggle. tell me one Yoruba man in govt that is forcing this better pill down Nigerians throats. |
mistypiper:any way, the best is to avoid shut down. it takes hours to complete shutdown. if wells are shut, some may not readily flow after resolution by mere reopening of valves. some may require work-over to re establish flowing, this could be costly. Nigeria would still pay for all these. |
Nigeria, hundreds of Nigerians and people connecting flights to neighboring countries are stranded with no attentions, yet we are flying footballers to Nigeria. na wa oo. All to deceive the world that all is well. |
muami:you sure don't know what negotiation is all about. You start from the extremes to get best from both sides. Both parties know that they would end up at negotiation table from start. Moreover, people makes govt. Even military have some power derivation from peoples acceptance. OP: I never expected FGN to go back to N65, they wont, but the uprising should send signal to govt that people are watching. It should not fail. |
As much as I respect this Falana guy I think he's a conspiracy theorists! the other day it was IMF/WORLD BANK. Today he's calling figures he can't even verify! The constitution says he must have ministers from all states of the federation. GEJ call didn't make this laws. Amend it before you hang him to dry!
How many states do we have, and how do we end up with more than 42 ministers |
omanzo02:I don't see any reason for anyone to rejoice at failure of this struggle even you don't support them. If they achieve some of their aims, especially less corrupt govt, we would all be better for it. |
prodam:well he is one of most vocal among governors in favor of subsidy removal. he said he can't pay salary without the subsidy removed. |
He He He, "Divide and Rule" tactics as usual ![]() |
otokx:Sanusi said he collected N220b from banks to import fuel, he collected the N220b as subsidy reimbursement from FGN, fuel bought has been sold and he is still owing banks N220b. He should explain. |
Id, wetin be your answer? |
Is anybody watching NTA and Silver-bird? PDP in Adamawa rally for Murtala Nyako governorship re-election, is that live? |
who do we believe now, Minister of petroleum said Nigeria should not be in refinery business |
LeoMax:we did not elect the cabal to rule us. our govt have responsibility to take care of the cabal for us. these so called cabals wine and dine with our elected govt. they are members of economic team. they all get national awards from our elected govt. our govt campaigned and got elected based on campaign, so there is a contract between us and our govt. |

I hope he sticks to his gun but he should also withdraw the 2012 budget and reduce govt expenditure by 50% at least in a modified one to be resubmitted to the NASS. He may also drop PMS to N100 and get rest of subsidy out by 2013. |
The whole country is grounded yet some die hard govt supporters are writing here that this is a failure , let's wait for more days before you can conclude. As for today, it is huge success. |
I suggest we come up with alternative options. I believe some people in government are on this forum they can let them know that we are not all noise without solution. This is my own suggestion to GEJ. Cut Govt expenses at all levels by 50%, keep PMS @ N100 and DPK by N80, use the proceeds from both savings to improve roads and other infrastructure in 2012 then remove rest of subsidy by 2013. Continue to keeping govt expenses at reduced level but gradual increase salaries based on ascertained inflation rates only. We cannot continue to protest without providing options. Lets face it, fuel subsidy cannot continue indefinitely, it does make make economic sense. . |
^^^ that was Femi Kuti. He is correct at least Fasola did not hide his support for subsidy removal. |
