suleelulee:Thru referendum like that of Czechoslovakia now Czech and Slovakia, USSR now many countries including Russian, Pakistan out of India. In the same vain you can bring countries together like Buda and Pest now Budapest |
1025:Bros, law is funny, he did not rig himself in, INEC announced result and told me he has won, so he is "free". Just obeying the law according to INEC. ![]() |
What is wrong with these politicians cutting their own salaries by 50%. At least they are not poor so they won't feel it. They can afford the pain. That would give us almost N750B to prepare the cushion for subsidy removal maybe 2014. They are paying themselves with almost 75% of our income and keep saying subsidy must go for us to survive. The truth is that they want more money to pay new minimum wage, simple. |
vislabraye:that is definite, and it is good, no problem, at least it is a new bridge not renovated community road. |
walata44:Lagosians has always made good Governors, even the Military ones did better than their peers in other states. Apart from maybe Oyinlola, which past governor in Lagos state was not a performer. So any Governor would have been pushed by Lagosians to perform. Especially if he succeeded Fasola. So 2015 Lagosians should look beyond Tinubu pawns. Toll is not a bad thing but the way that of Lekki is introduced is parochial, callous, and wicked,. That is, the only road into that area, the area is populated by people who pays 21% of their income as tax compulsorily as workers of organized companies, yet now govt amenities in that area apart from that road, To add salt upon injury, rate are exorbitant and would be 3 "rip off gate'" within 8 kilometers. Some people may not be able to come out to socialize again after returning home from work, if they have to pass thru 2 or three toll gates. Today, Police in from of Oniru Palace did not allow cars thru one of the so called alternative roads. |
debosky:Yes, he who God will destroy will first make mad. |
Uhmn, see so many graves, end of everyone. Life is really transient. Tonto, thanks for visiting the graveyard, hope you realize you will end up there some day and ensure you leave your life looking towards that time too. May God bless the souls of the departed. |
I participated in the protest and I have no regrets. Even though some may consider it unsuccessful. 1. It gives me joy that I spoke against what I don't like, even though LASG may be having her way now. 2. It gave me a clear knowledge of hypocrisy in Tinubu lead ACN, which, unfortunately, I voted governorship for in last election. 3. It rekindled a feelings during 1986 student action as Year One Student at Unife, a protest where Ife students allegedly freed prisoners. Now when I drive through either the so called "alternative road" or the "rip off gates", I can tell any complainer that, "Had you come out and join us that day, maybe we could make a change. For me it is not over until it is over. Table can still turn. Suppressing a legitimate people's protest can be a double edged sword, that can hurt even the so called "victor". As Dele Giwa ones wrote: Triumph of evil over good can only be temporary. Every injustice done to man by man will be revisited, if not now surely later, if not by man surely by God. Let's see who will laughs last. |
Ola one:Boy! not everyone in that area is a landlord or own a house. There are tenants in that area too. those who have the profile you are talking about don't complain of toll. |
Kobojunkie:The picture is showing only one side of the toll plaza, the other side have cars trapped behind the toll gate too. |
If all you do is go to work every day thru the toll gates, you will make less than 80 trips in a month, so no discount for you.
|
VoodooDoll:Nothing is impossible, ACN is already struggling in alimosho and ikorodu, with this move, lekki axis may join the list. |
Kobojunkie:Upgrade, renovate , whatever they did, how much did it cost them. Why not share details of LCC contract with stakeholders? |
walex0709:Fasola claimed he reimbursed the contractor N4b for tolls not collected from August - Dec, 2010, that is average of N12b toll collection per year. If this LCC has 30 yrs concession, HOW MUCH IS THE COST OF BUILDING THIS ROAD? |
TRUTHTELA:So you think having all you can get in NF is enough consolation for you to pay another N544,320 per year to LASG in the name of toll gates, after given 20% of your pay to the same govt as tax, without any amenities? FYI, people in Lekki Phase 1 has only one toll gate to worry about, people leaving farther away have more. People in NF that have kids in schools further down towards Epe should worry about 2 toll gates to and fro everyday. by the way there were so many oil company workers at the rally this morning. If fact, majority of participants would afford the tolls, but an unjust situation must be confronted. |
Come to think of it, what is the gain of people living at the Lekki axis after paying 20% of Total Remuneration to Lagos as tax with No govt water, no govt schools or hospital, now tool gate will collect average of N544,320 per year from a family with 2 cars (1 SUV + 1 Saloon car, leaving after LBS). |
ok What are the things you saw to suggest they are not rich ? Kobojunkie, to build a house in Lekki is 50% more expensive than mainland because of the water level The houses in Lekki are the most beautiful in the country. I can keep going on and on so In fact tell me a part in Lekki that suggest the people are not rich. Thanks
Igbo Efon, Jakande, Ilassan, Ikota Village, Okun Ajah, Sangotedo, Ajiran, Awoyaya, Alpha Beach ,,,,,,,, do you want more |
phantom:not only her, Soni Irabor was among the tear gassed too. |
Honestly I feel very sad today for voting for Fasola. How can he mobilize maximum force against enlightened protestants. People who carried only placards and just dancing, did not even call govt names or insult anyone. These same Tinubu, Fasola, &co protested against Abacha under NADECO. It is a shame. Even uniformed policemen almost out numbered the protesting crowd, not to talk of secret agents pretending to be among the crowd. This is really sad. |
dboss4life:Private business is not same as government, in business you decide what happens to your money, in govt too many interests, Babangida tried same with Shonekan in 1993, due to his success in UACN, he supported him with some of best brains in Nigeria that time, what happened after all. |

Lasinoh:the woman is DSP and the man was DIG, maybe they are on official duty, by the way, are you saying an ambulance has to be on standby before any fat man sleeps with a woman? Everyone dies you know. |
emmatok:That does not make them representatives for all. I never said strikes would not affect the country but who do NLC represent. If govt offered them some "palliative" relief they would call off strike and the rest of the populace continue to suffer. What we need is all sections, including those not represented come out to protests, that is when you can say the people have spoken. If non represented are on street, they would be more powerful than represented, because no one to buy over or negotiate with until demands are met. |
^^Tell them, NLC does not represent everybody in Nigeria, they represent only their members not even all workers. TUC is for Senior staff and Managers have no union. |
This is budget they say would turn Nigeria fortune around.

joe4christ:Please don't blame the dead, we all take some unreasonable risks everyday, depending on where you live and circumstances of your existence. People in riverine areas travel on water any time. They must have been doing this for years, even if the mishap happened in broad daylight, in absence necessary safety gears, ability to swim or some water survival training, people would still die. In fact, I lost a close friend in this mishap so I feel the pain. He actually was rescued alive, even in the darkness, but died before getting to hospital. . |
David Cameron refused to sign Euro treaty because it not in favour of UK but African countries must sign any law whether it favours them or not. |
Hmm. Removing the subsidy is the correct thing to do, but I suppose more popular to be against it.
that is not entire the case in my view, real fear is what would happen to the so called saved money. The main problem of this country is not fuel subsidy by bloated government where 73% of money made goes for salaries of people who don't produce any income to the nation. I am not against subsidy removal, more so when it has been removed from main industrial fuels like diesel and aviation fuel, but is this the right time? Can the economy of the people sustain it. There is no economy without some form of subsidy, even America subsidizes steel industry and some agricultural products. |
Everyone took care of there own territories How do you do? I am doing fine |
Nigeria is not at war yet almost a NTrillion would be spent on defense within 365 day, not that we are going to send rocket to moon or fight in foreign land. Nigeria We hail Thee. |
Was Mujaheddin Asari Dokudo in that meeting too, are they going to kill him too, What about Muslims that are Niger Deltans and those from other part of the country that are not killing or bombing like the misguided boko harams, Do they have evidence what these BH nonsense are doing were agreed to by all Nigerian Muslims? Do they also have evidence that everyone killed in the North East Nigeria are non Muslims? It is painful that some misguided people hide under the cover of religion to main and kill innocent people but wanton killing of more innocent people is not a good response. |
