Career › Re: Inflation: Why Are Salary Earners The Hardest Hit? by RepoMan007(op): 11:05am On Jul 24, 2023
mariovito:
Other business people can quickly adjust their charges and fee to meet whatever the prevailing economic realities are.

Not same for salary earners.

Salary increase may take long to come for those who get it. And in most cases, the increment won't do much.
In addition, salary earners are under employers of labour who are also experiencing reduced revenue most times and so less willing to effect salary increase to cancel out inflation. Even if revenue increases, employers are always looking for more of it.and may not grant employees and increase.

The report shows that rising inflation has a greater cost-of-living impact on lower-income earners. This is because they spend most of their disposable income on essential goods and services, which generally experience greater price increases than non-essential items.

Inflation is also biting into the purchasing power of minimum wages, the report says. Estimates show that despite nominal adjustments taking place, accelerating price inflation is quickly eroding the real value of minimum wages in many countries for which data is available.

Salary earners generally are really going through alot this time
for every effect there is a cause. Why are the salary earners having it roughest this time?

The answer to that question is broad and holds the key to a huge societal mistake plaguing us.

In terms of education, Peter Obi is at the bottom of the barrel, with his second-class degree in Philosophy. You can’t compare him to a PhD in Water Engineering (Kwankwaso), a Master's with Distinction in International Relations (Atiku) and a BSc in Accounting (Tinubu). Joseph, have the fear of God and answer this question-am I lying?
The man with accounting degree supported a assumed waec holder despot ahead of himself. That brings Reno argument to null and shows he isn't balanced upstairs.

Family › Re: Consequences Of Having Many Children In A Bad Economy? by RepoMan007: 5:21pm On Jul 23, 2023
ibechris:
Having many children in a bad economy can lead to various consequences, including:

1. Financial strain: A bad economy often implies limited job opportunities, lower wages, and increased unemployment rates. Raising a large family in such circumstances can impose a significant financial burden on parents, as they struggle to meet basic needs like food, clothing, education, healthcare, and housing for every child.

2. Limited resources: With a bad economy, resources become scarce, and families with many children may struggle to provide adequate resources for each child. This can result in compromises on education, healthcare, and extracurricular activities, affecting the overall development and opportunities available to the children.

3. Increased poverty: Raising many children in a bad economy can push families into poverty or exacerbate their existing poverty. Poverty affects the quality of life of both parents and children, leading to inadequate nutrition, lack of access to healthcare, housing instability, and limited opportunities for upward social mobility.

4. Limited future prospects: In a bad economy, parents may struggle to save money for their children's future needs, such as college expenses or starting a career. This can limit the opportunities available to the children and hinder their ability to break out of the cycle of poverty in the long term.

5. Education challenges: A bad economy often impacts the education sector, leading to budget cuts, reduced resources, and overcrowded classrooms. Children from large families may face difficulties in accessing quality education due to limited financial and academic support, potentially affecting their future prospects.

6. Strained emotional well-being: Financial stress and the inability to provide for all children's needs can lead to increased parental stress and tensions within the family. Children may also experience higher stress levels due to the lack of resources, witnessing their parents' struggles, or feeling neglected or overlooked.

7. Limited parental time and attention: Raising many children demands substantial time and attention from parents. In a bad economy, where parents may need to dedicate more time to work or multiple jobs to make ends meet, the ability to provide individual attention, support, and guidance to every child may be compromised.

It's important to note that these consequences can vary depending on factors such as the specific economic conditions, the social support available, and the resilience and adaptability of both parents and children.
in village setting where they start going.to farm at age 8/9, your points are all invalid.

It doesn't follow as simple as that.
Imposing tax would not necessarily deter or even reduce the import of the items you mentioned.
if will. A crippling tax on fake hair will force local makers to emerge and stiffle out would be smugglers.
Politics › Re: ₦ Plummets To 860/$! by RepoMan007: 4:52pm On Jul 23, 2023
The wise thing to have done in addition to floating the Naira to FX rates was to impose tax on avoidable imports that was swelling demands for FX.
Avoidable import that if not imported cannot lead to the death of any human being. Things like fake hair, nails, nail paint, bleaching cream, wine, tomatoes, vegetable.
In addition to those moderately raise tax on things that can be produced locally in the short to medium term so local production can have an advantage while the govt earn more for import of such economy damaging imports as a consolation.

Well, husband pay the bills as that is his responsibility. However, the wife can pay from time to time if she has the money to reduce his burdens. That's love and understanding. A good husband will respect and adore his wife for her sacrifices.
from proverbs 31, the woman is not a optional or conditional contributor. She is to be fruitful materially from home while the man goes around to bring things home. It was a complementary relationship God established between the man and the woman and not a supplementary one.

Social values are like spells. They control peoples' actions and inactions to far reaching extents.

In Nigeria, many noble vocations and businesses have been relegated socially. The unexplainable love for office job with official car and AC is one of our undoing.

Lack of emphasis on productivity also is another. We emphasize making easy money over getting useful things done with wisdom and technology.
