Newly appointed Watford boss, Nigel Pearson has been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month for December.

Former Leicester City boss has been nominated alongside Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.


Pearson has enjoyed a strong start to life as Watford head coach after being appointed last month, winning two of his four matches in charge.

Recall that the Hornets beat Manchester United and Aston Villa at Vicarage Road and earned an impressive point at Sheffield United as they closed the gap to 17th place to just two points.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has guided Liverpool to five wins from their five matches in December.


They extended their lead at the top of the table to 13 points with a game in hand, recording wins over the likes of Everton and Leicester and conceding just two goals.

Also, Solskjaer has managed Manchester United from ninth to fifth during December.

The Red Devils have closed the gap between fourth place from eight points to five.

They won four of their seven matches, including wins over Tottenham and Manchester City.

Super Falcons defender, Onome Ebi, has denied that she has been declining suitors despite are age as she said she was yet to see the best man for her.

Speaking recently, the Henan Huishang of Chinese Women's Super League defender said in as much as she is not looking at Mr. Right, she must get someone who she will be able to turn to the right man.

She revealed that she derived joy and happiness through her life and God has been helping her to be what she is at the moment.



“I have not been declining suitors, the truth is, it is up to what I want and I think I have not come across such man like I wanted,” she said.

“I am not saying Mr. Right because you don’t find right persons these days, you just have to get the person and turn it to the right person, I have not come across someone I will love to spend the rest of my days with, when the time comes, everyone will see.



“I am still looking good and stunning because I have rest of mind, playing good and knowing fully well that at my age, I am still doing great for myself.

“People feel I am getting old but for me I know I am still pretty young, although I always give thanks to God because it is not easy, I will be 37 this year and obviously, I doesn’t look it, so I am grateful to God.”

The beautiful Ebi is currently the only African player, man or woman, to have played in five different FIFA World Cups and still waxing stronger.



Speaking further, Onome said she would continue to represents the country as long as her strength could take as she believe she still have a lot to offer the national team.

She added: “People have been asking when I am going to retire; my answer always is that everything is up to God.



“If I am still fit and playing at top level, I will continue to play, not that I will block the way for those coming behind, but I know I can continue to bring value to the team coupled with my experience. I am still good to, but when I see that I am getting tired, I can then retire.”



Apart from playing at five different FIFA World Cups, she has been to six consecutive African Women's Championship, winning the tournament four times.

Dani Ceballos was spotted in Arsenal training this afternoon ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Manchester United.

The Real Madrid midfielder hasn't kicked a ball for Arsenal since October due to injury.

But he was photographed at London Colney today and his Arsenal team-mates seemed to celebrate his return to training.

Ceballos, who cost the Gunners a £15 million loan fee [The Daily Mail], walked through a guard of honour that his team-mates jokingly formed for him, while a smiling Mikel Arteta looked on.


It might be a tad optimistic to expect Ceballos to feature at the Emirates when the Red Devils come to town tomorrow.

But the fact that he's on the comeback trail is very, very encouraging indeed.

With Granit Xhaka linked away, Arsenal might need another midfielder over the coming months and it would certainly help if the Spaniard was fighting fit every single week.

Real Madrid star midfielder Isco Alarcon and his family have arrived London on holidays as he braces himself up for a possible January transfer to Stamford bridge.

The midfielder who has been in and out of the Real Madrid squad in recent times is said to be considering swapping clubs after being convinced of a major role at Chelsea.



The London club has seen Ruben Loftus Cheek sidelined by injury, with the English man still needing months before attaining full match fitness, Ross Barkley not living up to expectations at the club and Danny Drinkwater out on loan at Burnley, leaving a midfield three of Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho.

A private tour of the Stamford bridge facility could also be organised for the midfield star with the aim of convincing him.

Isco is thought by the Club hierarchy to provide Chelsea with the experience and balance the team urgently needs in the centre of the park, although some fans have questioned the rationale behind such a move stating that Isco is aging and is untested in the Premier League.

Chelsea substitute Jorginho says the Blues players were “too soft” in the opening stages of their clash with Arsenal, while also dismissing claims he should have been sent off in their 2-1 comeback win at Emirates Stadium .



Speaking after the game, Jorginho says he was instructed to try and drive the team on after their poor opening.

Manchester City were defeated by Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at the Molineux on Friday night.

Manchester City fans are in need of some good news after Friday's loss to Wolves , and they might have thought they had it when Real Sociedad announced Martin Odegaard would be joining on loan.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed why he decided to sign for German club Wolfsburg ahead of Arsenal despite speaking to former manager Arsene Wenger.

Osimhen who is currently in Nigeria on winter break, also disclosed why, aside from Arsenal, he also rejected offers from European heavyweights like Barcelona, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, to sign for Wolfsburg.



“After the tournament (2015 U-17 World Cup) I actually got down with my family mostly my elder brother, and my agent released the list of teams that were interested,” Osimhen said on Lagos-based radio stations, Nigeria Info.

“It had big European clubs like Barcelona, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Ajax, Anderlecht, a lot of them. Wolfsburg was there also, Spartak Moscow.

“So we sat down and looked at the possibility when I turn 18 so I can start playing immediately. They said Arsenal wanted to sign me, they are desperate to sign me. I spoke with Arsene Wenger on the phone he told me how he wanted me to play but first team wasn’t promised.

“I spoke with my brother and he gave me some candid advice and said I should choose Wolfsburg because the coach wanted me so much more than the rest that we have spoken to. And I should look at the project they have for me that it will be nice that we should give it a shot. So I said okay, fine, we will go to Wolfsburg then.”

Osimhen however expressed sadness that things did not work out well for him at Wolfsburg.

“So for me Wolfsburg was a perfect choice but sometimes life is like this, what you imagined is not what you get.

“It didn’t work out well and I was really sad it didn’t work out well because I really had a point to prove but life is like this so I had to accept.”

Osimhen spent two seasons with Wolfsburg from 2017 to 2019 but failed to score in any of his 16 appearances for the club.

He then joined Belgian club Charleroi on loan from Wolfsburg which turned out to be successful as he netted 20 goals in 36 appearances.

In July 2019 he signed for Lille OSC and on 11 August 2019, made his Ligue 1 debut scoring a brace against Nantes. The match ended 2–1 in favour of Lille.

In October 2019 he became ‘Player of the Month’ for Ligue 1.

A special first-half strike by Nigerian-descent Michael Obafemi sent Chelsea crashing at Stamford Bridge on Boxing day.

Obafemi started the game due to Shane Long's injury and he duly rewarded his manager's faith with a sumptuous strike in the 31st minute.

The game was his fourth ever start in the Premier League and the goal was his second for the Saints in the top-flight.

Scott McTominay started Manchester United's match against Newcastle on Boxing Day with plenty of fire, as he picked up the fastest Premier League booking in at least 13 years.


McTominay caught Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff with a late challenge inside the first 30 seconds of the encounter, with referee Kevin Friend showing the Scotland international a yellow card.

Paul Pogba is part of the Manchester United travelling squad for this weekend's fixture versus Watford after recovering from illness and injury.


The French midfielder was spotted by MEN's photographers among the United players to board a plane from Manchester Airport's private terminal on Saturday afternoon. They will stay over in Watford ahead of Sunday's 2pm kick off against the Hornets.

Nemanja Matic was also pictured travelling amid speculation that the Serbian midfielder could leave in January. Youngsters Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood are among the 20-man squad but there's no place for James Garner, Angel Gomes or Tahith Chong. Alex Iwobi's first appearance against Arsenal since leaving the club lasted only 10 minutes before he had to be taken off due to an apparent hamstring injury.

Recall that the Super Eagles star joined Everton under Marco Silva this campaign for a club record fee.

New Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says that it is a "huge honour" to take over at his former club, adding that the board has made it "very clear" that he is to compete for trophies now that he's in charge.

Arteta joins his former club after serving as an assistant at Manchester City, where he worked closely with Pep Guardiola during a three-and-a-half year sting.

And the Spanish coach says that he's hoping to bring trophies to Arsenal now that he's been appointed as a manager for the first time.

“This is a huge honour. Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We need to be competing for the top trophies in the game and that’s been made very clear to me in my discussions with Stan and Josh Kroenke, and the senior people from the club," he said.

“We all know there is a lot of work to be done to achieve that but I am confident we’ll do it. I’m realistic enough to know it won’t happen overnight but the current squad has plenty of talent and there is a great pipeline of young players coming through from the academy.”

The Belgian National team has been crowned FIFA's Team of the Year for the second time in a row after retaining top spot ahead of world champions France in the latest world rankings released on Thursday (Dec 19), football's world governing body said.

Liverpool have announced RB Salzburg forward Takumi Minamino as first January signing for reported £7.25m.


The Japan international, who is thought to have a release clause of £7.25m, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal until summer 2024.

Minamino, has scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in 22 appearances for the Austrian side this season.

Indeed, the 24-year-old was on the scoresheet in the meeting at Anfield in October when he struck to help the Austrian side fight back from three goals down to draw level at 3-3 before Mohamed Salah netted a winner.

More recently, Minamino completed the 90 minutes for Salzburg as the Reds secured a place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 2-0 victory at Red Bull Arena on December 10.

Liverpool Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with Red Bull Salzburg for the transfer of Takumi Minamino.

The Japan international forward will officially become a Reds player on January 1 after he finalised personal terms and passed a medical on Merseyside on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old has completed a medical and penned a long-term contract at Melwood.
