Why should I be more comfortable doing business with companies owned by other nationalities but not Nigerian owned? Why cant our people do business with acceptable standard as obtainable in other societies? Why should Nigerians always see opportunity to cheat others in all their endeavors?
TO THE ISSUE, I booked a ticket with wakanow on feb 8, 2024 (my first time ever and a mistake). I paid 911 USD for a round trip from NYC to Lagos. Wakanow issued the ticket but at the time I only wanted to seize the opportunity for the low fare, my travel itinerary was not certain yet, the supposed flight was for April end till may end. By march 1st, it was obvious, I cannot travel by April ending, so I reached out to wakanow to cancel the ticket. Mind you, the ticket I booked was a fully REFUNDABLE TICKET with Royal Air Maroc according to wakanow website before I paid. Wakanow said they will only refund about 800k naira and I will forfeit the rest, mind you I paid in dollars but they want to refund less than half of the money in naira. I agreed that they should go ahead and cancel the ticket and refund me, that was around March 1. Since then I have been messaging wakanow via WhatsApp and mail, they are always telling me they are working on it on WhatsApp while they have stopped replying my mails. Meanwhile, I reached out to Royal air maroc which confirmed I should get in touch with wakanow as my funds are no longer with them. It is almost 3 months I cancelled now and I cant get my money back, I cant book another flight since my funds are now tied down. Why is it so difficult to refund me for almost 3 months when their website says refunds are processed in 2 - 3 weeks?
WHY IS WAKANOW TREATING A FELLOW NIGERIAN LIKE THIS? I AM NOW PAYING BACK MONEY WAKANOW STOLE FROM ME TO THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY. WAKANOW IS A THIEVING COMPANY. WAKANOW REFUND MY MONEY.
Front page please.

can you show evidence that the ticket was fully refundable from wakanows end? why I asked is, when I used wakanow last (a few years back), they did not have fully refundable tickets.

Power is truly transient

About a year ago, Wike was governor, behaving like an emperor, but today, he is just a mere federal commissioner, working so hard, albeit failing woefully, to impress a notorious narcotics drug trafficker engaging in criminal state capture.

governorship is a power position.

In almost all duels where the incumbent governor took on senators, ex governors or commissioners, the governor triumphs.

Lagos was the only state where the incumbent lost to an ex governor.

Even in Kano, the governor triumphs the ex governor who is a sentaor and party chairman

Lets be real.. is it possible to really not watch any live TV?? In this era

I'm just asking an innocent question..

Sometimes lets go the easier path... £13 a month will give peace of mind and you won't need to be looking out of your window or acting like you don't pay rent or own the house... acting scared where you live...

You don't want to mess with fines, court dates, and jail on your profile

That's just my opinion

Morning everyone. does anyone know the implication of increasing your personal pension contribution at work?

Someone said if a person increases their personal pension it might affect chances of ILR as the pension is not taxed. How true is this please?

I doubt this. It reduces your tax though. If your employer is matching your voluntary contribution, gives you "double pay".

The catch is you may not be able to assess the money before 55 or 60 (cant remember the exact age) without paying some massive tax that will wipe off most of the portion contributed by your employer and still subject your portion of the contribution to tax also.

Greetings All.
Please, I need clarification, and want to learn...

I am on a COS visa, and my sponsor have not given a shift since I arrived, but I have been doing my supplementary 20 hours with an agency and my tax code is 1257L.

Someone told me a few days ago that the tax code the agency is using for me is wrong as they are not my main employers.

I want to know the implications of this please.

If you can, ask the supplementary employer to sponsor you. An employer that offers COS without shifts is risking home office cancellation of their license.

You probably should check well before providing information to HMRC that suggests your supplementary job is now your main job as that brings to question the validity of your visa sponsorship and you may not be sure how things go from there.

If it was revoke due to no fault of yours, your best bet is likely to find another job within the same healthcare sector. The good thing, there is high demand for the service.

You should also be opened to relocating to another city if needed so your search is not restricted as I think you have 60 days to get a new sponsor

1. Free transport to work

2. Subsidised homes. Like the ones built by shagari in the 80’s . Little one two & 3 bedroom houses. They would pay N5000.00 per month

3. Build large cooperative stores that would sell groceries at rock bottom price. That means government would buy fruit and vegetables from farmers and subsidies them. Including meat rice& fish.

It can be done. There would be know reasons to increase wages which would eventually lead to a runaway inflation. The 650,000 labour is asking for would lead to runaway inflation just like in Zimbabwe.

where do you expect the government to get the money to fund these subsidies?

You don't need 4 years to know when a car is moving forward. The moment you board a vehicle, the direction is clear.

That is the same the same thrash Buhari said for 8 years. After 8 years APC said they need 16 years before they can be compared to PDP

That Is a promise I have made

Nigeria's bigger problem is people have failed to hold who they should accountable and I am delighted obi is doing just that. That is what pdp should have been doing but alas apc is turning nigeria to a one party state where there is no one to hold them accountable.

Nigeria woes is largely down to the disastrous poilicies of apc (tinubu and buhari). Nigeria will only get better when you learn to hold these guys accountable.

When an applicant gets a job claiming competence but fails miserably at it, you dont blame other applicants eyeing his job, that would be stupidity.

You hold the employee responsible and let him know he needs to deliver on results if he wants to remain in that role

They'll bring a lot of fdi, create many inirect and direct jobs, stimulate sectoral activity.

Nigeria in it's currently state is unlikely to attract them. Tinubu should stay home and work on stabilizing security, power, introducing incentives to support companies in the country who are bleeding heavily from the current economic situation.

The ROR over 25 years is 14,000%+. That's an average of 560% pa. It's too juicy to ignore. I'll take my chances.

No government will give you 18% pa bond for 25 years. You need to adjust your forecast

At the end of 2-3 years, the new subscription will have new rates that reflect what the government thinks will be the prevailing rates for the next 3 years.

The current rates are set high to be able to compete for funds in the current high-inflation economy

Good points.

The ROR over the course of 3 years is an average of 24% which is truly less than the rate of inflation as you have noted. However, there is hardly any passive investment that guarantees you a return above inflation especially in the short term.

What we can do is try our best to invest in assets with returns not too far from inflation rate. My current investment portfolio is a mixture of Tbills, eurobonds and cryptocurrency so I'm staying as close to inflation as possible.

I'm also hoping the DMO come up with those 15-25 year bonds at current rates so I can lock in. Over the course of 25 years, my ROR is guaranteed to beat inflation

It is a good buy for someone who is risk-averse. And as you have mentioned , the uncertainty in the economy, there are not many investments that can give you that return without sizeable risk in the current nigeria.

However, you are unlikely to have a windfall at the end of the tenure of those bonds when you take the money into the market to buy things and you see how much prices have changed in 2-3 years
Business / Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Resurgent2016: 4:56pm On May 09
Itsrm:

This is the current rate for three year savings bond.

Your 50m with interests reinvested and compounded will give you 91m+ after three years.

And it is "risk free".

looks impressive until you realise MPR is 24.75% while inflation was 33% in April.

Real rate of return is significantly negative and may never be positive till the maturity of those bonds. Nigeria has had inflation above 18% since mid 2022 and it has progressively risen since then.

If you invested in those bonds with the mindset of buying an asset in Nigeria, based on the inflation data , you are likely to be out of pocket when the bonds mature two- three years later.

The high rate could tickle foreign investors though, as inflation in Nigeria does not affect them. For them the main fear is the FX rate which this administration has not demonstrated an ability to manage.

I will advise you thread softly if not, the CSO of the country has the constitutional right to invoke a state of emergency on Rivers. And when they do, they will have the opportunity to appoint a selected (not elected) military administrator who will be loyal to them.

stability of the oil supply is more important to Tinubu than Wike. Worst he will do is withhold allocation to Rivers which will make him a hypocrite
