Thanks.

Not to "rain on the parade" so to speak but the above is misleading. You are not actually accepted into medical school to study medicine (that is reserved for regular doctors or MDs)... - you do not specialize in medical school, you do that during your residency. What you got was acceptance to study as a physicians assistant.
It is called packaging!
During my Undergraduate days we use to have Geology, Geology and Mining (SLT) those in the latter will be thinking they are the real deal.

They called but you probably did not pick up. So, they mailed you.

You have to schedule another appointment.

@Warriguy21, congrats on your success. You made everybody proud. I could see someone here who criticized you several times in the past as if he's God is now ashamed to congrat you. That's too bad. With this kind of attitude, it's all over. cheesy

Merry Christmas to everyone. Next year is gonna be absolutely fantastic and I can feel it right now.
Don't try to wipe up sentiment here, it is the exclusive right of anyone to congratulate him or not.

I've seen that inscription ( Note: wes does not evaluate acedemic record from university of port harcourt) on WES on site before but I guess it's been resolved as it's no longer on their site. It's good u sent them a mail for confirmation....
I hope so because I didn't see anything of such in thier website, let it not be that because they have not receive my money, they don't want to start takin. hope they respond to my mail on time, So I know what do. I really prefer the WES, as one of my transcript (not uniport) is already being processed in my formal school.

Scholastica16:
Probably untrue. However, there was an issue with WES and UNIPORT following either submission of falsified documents or the inability of UNIPORT to verify the transcripts in time enough for WES to meet their own time line. This was 2 or 3 years back. I think 2 years back though.
I didn't see anything of such is thier website, I hope they respond to my mail on time, So I know what do. I really prefer the WES, I cant afford to sent two of my Original Certificates to IERF.

Does WES Evaluate Transcript from the University of Port Harcourt? I have registered with them and had concluded plans to send my transcripts. Someone was just telling me today that they don't evaluate transcript from uniport and I told him that I didnt see anything as such in thier website. Is it true?
I have sent them a mail in that regard but they have not responde.
Thank You

Yes I m becoming apprehensive, called several times todays those ladies keep telling me it has been done. And when I check with the ETS I don't see any pending transaction there. I m very far from Lagos otherwise I would have moved into their office to actually ask what the hell is going on. Does it take days to get things done by those guys at B Y MAFIT?

SirRiddy & Co! How do schools place emphasis on GRE/Work/Research Experience. I have a combine six years of work/research experience with four publications and one conference paper. I m going to write the GRE though but preparation hasn't been great, but I have made up my mind to write it.

I believe it helps. It worked for me. Doing so would help you know what you are getting into. And your score might shock you shocked and give you the much needed motivation to get the job done. Save the second for the last.
Thank you, will do that, I am currently looking at Algebra in Manhattan Text Book maybe when I m through with it, I will just do the PowerPrep and see how it is, despite having work/research experience with publications, the GRE is a bit strange to me.

Hello revenant,
Now that is where taking my first Powerprep test helped me and subsequent full length test. When I took my first test, I saw my scores and I took note of topics I failed. I headed to ETS math review, i started with those topics before I went to the other topics.
I read up those topics in Manhattan textbook and I stopped there. Remember I have just two months. Then, I started solving those hard questions in Manhattan 5 pounds. For instance, I noticed I failed questions on geometry. But after studying it. I was hardly failing geometry. Don't focus on your strength, you might be tempted. I went from difficult to easy. That was my strategy.
Ok, So your suggestion now is even if I have not done math like 10years, I should still do the power prep just to gage myself right, before anything else.

Hello @modestgal,
Be optimistic. The right attitude goes a long way to help you succeed. Am a lady like you. So I would share my solutions with you.

I always come to this thread for information. And I got to know of this thread two months to my exam. I got links to all GRE materials, and I ended up not reading over 90% of them. Oh God, I love simplicity and there was no way I was going to go through all those book. But then, everyone kept mentioning Manhattan 5pounds and Magoosh video and I decided I was going to study with only those two materials. So what did I do?

Took the Powerprep test, my score was terrible. But i noticed my weaknesses and wrote them down.

Next, i read the ETS GRE Review and got the basics of the examination.

Then I made a timetable which I judiciously followed. I work full time, it was difficult but I dedicated two months to study. No dates, hanging out or resting. In fact, I stayed behind after work to study for 3 hours because that was the only time I could study. If I go home,I would just eat and sleep. So basically, I just used Manhattan, tried to finish it. But did about 90% of it. For vocabs, I focused on Magoosh flash cards and later discovered mesmerise.com.

A month to my exam, i came on this thread and someone kindly sent me Magoosh videos. It was wonderful, i actually realized I was a visual learner. Unfortunately, I could not finish the verbal videos.

Also, on sundays, i solved full length practice test from kaplan and also did Manhattan test. Two days before my exam, I did the Powerprep. My verbal and my Quant scores were getting better. but not as I would have loved. But I never lost hope. I am surrounded by people that believed in me and the support was awesome. Thank God

Finally, 14th of Nov, I wrote my exam and I did not feel the burnout because I did at least 4 full length practice test. I just saw Q160,v158. I was shocked but I thank God that all those sacrifices paid off.

My point is you need to be optimistic and define what is important to you. If GRE is the hurdle you need to cross, damn every other thing and focus on getting the best you can.

I hope my formula is simple enough for you. Manhattan with Magoosh videos and Magoosh flash cards did it for me. All the best, love.
Did you went straight into the 5LB Practice guide without having to look at the Main Manhattan TextBook. I m looking at taking the test by January. Hope for your reply.

If the truth hurts them take it as a lesson.

The bitter truth is that with such poor English he will not gain admittance.

I thank God I came across this thread by chance.I graduated with a g.p of 3.0 out of a scale of 5.0 in microbiology, and I want to apply for a masters in immunology in USA. Please how can I go about this?
Open google.com, search for schools doing MS in Microbiology with concentration in Immunology. Go to the department/graduate school site and look at their admission requirements. Check if you can meet their admission requirement, check the department faculty page to see if you will see any research work a faculty member on Immunology is doing that you might be interested in, contact the faculty member that you will like to work with him/her in thier lab, check the rating of the school, check for availability of funding. Then apply and wait for admission. Check School fees/living/housing ib school environment.
Goodluck with you!

Hi everyone,

Been following this thread, although from the shadows. Wanted to write the GRE this month but couldn't get a slot anywhere in PH so I had to travel to Lagos to write on the 13th.

Got to the JKK building quite early and then the wait and anxiety started; can't say why but I was feeling uneasy about the test, not like it was going to be my first or last exam in this life sef. grin

Anyway, as we joined the queue to be screened before commencing the test, the people that were screened first had already started typing away. I got to my computer and started typing too (#50k no be play o, plus transport fare and hotel bills). After the AWA section (which looked rather fair to me), I got down to the first verbal; it must have been the experimental part because boy, was that section harrrrrd (ets should try to leave that type for last na).

It sort of destabilized me but I soldiered on o (again, #50k + siblings), 'attacking' the quantitative section that followed and the others after that. Altogether, it was quite an experience sha. After everything: V 157, Q 164, AWA: 4.5 (I expected more in the AWA but well...).

Very helpful were the Official ETS guide (for AWA, V & Q), Memrize App (for vocab building), the Magoosh Videos (regular and premium) and also Powerprep and Manhattan Six online Tests (to simulate the actual test in terms of timing and, to an extent, difficulty).

There you have it friends...my hustle only just started as I'm looking at UIUC, CMU and PU (God dey o). Thanks to all contributors on this thread, every single one of you.
How do I get the Premium Magoosh Video, I have one but I do not know if it the Premium or Regular
Thanks
