It is very common for the people of an ethnic group at the boundary with others to behave or be somewhat similar to their neighbours than even with people from the hinterlands of their cultures especially when these neighbours of theirs are very influential.

Yorubas from northern Oyo/Kwara for instance are very different from those from Ondo. Many yoruba groups from Ondo have strong Edo influence in cultures and even in their looks. Many Ondo yorubas are naturally lightskinned (not bleached oo), just like many Edo people are. This is something you hardly find among northern yorubas.

When you look at northern Igbos (Nsukkas, Nkanus and Ebonyi groups) for instance, they share a lot of similarities with the Igalas/Idomas. Igbos in Delta/Onitsha share so much with Edos. Igbos in Southern Abia (Arochukwu) share so much with Ibibios. It is always like this.

Even in my small Pyem tribe in Plateau state for instance, my mother's side for example share boundary and live side by side with Mwaghavul communities. My mother's family name as well as many in that area are Mwaghavul. Many of them there also speak the language fluently. They can easily claim to be from the other tribe and people may not easily notice.

This does not give people from the hinterlands or another edge of the tribe to call those from another end inferior tribesmen. It is stupidity.

I don't know if you think its a abomination for there to be indigenous Igalla people in Anambra state or for there to be Igbo people in Kogi state. Like i said earlier, state boundaries or even LGA boundaries does not define people. Let us try to understand that. There are also other tribes seen in more than one states too.
I'm from Nando in Anambra East, Nando is a direct descendant of Eri (Gad). That's aside, i grew up in Onitsha, schooled in Nnewi and Awka, i have travelled and lived extensively across Igbo land both east and west of the Niger.
Nzam has the largest number of igalla people in Anambra state, their late Igwe, HRH John Ogugua was my boss in Asaba, other neighboring towns in the same Anambra West also have igalla people settled there. Some towns have just a few number of families. All these people as of today speak Igbo and Igalla fluently even though the younger generations speak less of Igalla. The history behind these settlements can be varying but we should know that basically River banks/Sea shores were the only meeting points of trade in just less than 200 yrs ago and there must be bound to be this kind of settlement.

I don't like mischievous people. It's a known fact that Igbos and Igala share a lot in common. Most Igala community share Igbo origin and most Igbo community share Igala origin. It's a fact that Odolu, Akpanya and Ibaji are bilingual and speak both Igbo and Igala side by side. I'm not even talking about core Igbo villages in Kogi state but Igala known communities. These people (the Igala and Igbo in the border communities) similar physic, similar cuisine, similar clothing, similar burial, similar marriage rite, similar market, similar church procession, similar dances and intermarriages existing since centuries.
The Igala kingdom in the past once conquered Igboland as far as even Nsukka before it was liberated. Had the British not removed Igala from the southern region and add it to the northern region in 1922 constitution, the Igala province would have either by now become a part of the SW, SE or SS.
So there is no way you can detach Igala from their Igbo neighbors.
It even foolhardy for one mischievous person to start asking political question such as there are no Igbos in Kogi state. If there are no Igbos in Kogi, then there are no Igalas in Anambra state. Simple!
