If I was the dead there, I'd want chocolates thrown into my grave, not the damned alligator peppers (is this an extra hot pepper?)

If I ever get rich enough to build a house, I will definitely hire a Polish architect.

TravelRe: Beautiful Cities Of Poland by revontuli(op): 7:40pm On Jun 13, 2018
There is plenty of great architecture and statues outside of the old town district, too.

They should hire gay men as house help. Problem solved!

It is hard to walk in this city, cause all those buildings draw your eye.
Last 2 photos are the synagogue of Wroclaw, unfortunately it was closed to visits.

I wanna visit rome too, definitely on my travel list this year preferably in Oct.

Could you do a cost breakdown of your trip from flights to accommodation and feeding.

Also, did you fly from Nigeria? I plan to fly from Istanbul.
I flew from Helsinki. Flight was about 235 Euros round trip. We stayed at a very basic hotel ran by nuns, it was 160 Euro with taxes and fees etc. nights 5 days for one person. I don't know what I spent on eating but I ate mostly pasta and pizza, 10-15 Euros per meal at most. We kept it cheap. Museum tickets cost a bit, overall I'd say easily 100 Euro for all the museum and attraction tickets.

We ran into a cool gothic cathedral which appeared abandoned. I am hoping they will restore it and open it to visits soon.

One of the great cathedrals of Wroclaw, featuring amazing religious art pieces and stained glass.

TravelRe: Beautiful Cities Of Poland by revontuli(op): 2:11pm On Jun 13, 2018
Wroclaw packs so much charm and beauty.

TravelRe: Beautiful Cities Of Poland by revontuli(op): 2:08pm On Jun 13, 2018
More awesome architecture of Wroclaw. There is a modern building in the 3rd photo, which they made similar to the surrounding old buildings to preserve the views of the city.

TravelRe: Beautiful Cities Of Poland by revontuli(op): 2:05pm On Jun 13, 2018
There was a grand cathedral, but it was under repair. The entrance is in the first photo. After walking into that section, first of the dwarfs of Wroclaw welcomed us. There are over 350 of them scattered all over the city. It started as a guerilla art project and spread, and became one of the characteristics of Wroclaw. Here is more info about the dwarfs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wroc%C5%82aw%27s_dwarfs

Wroclaw old town was truly charming. I love those roof attic windows, they look like something from Harry Potter or fairy tales.

Beautiful buildings clad in works of art line the grand square of the old town.

TravelRe: Beautiful Cities Of Poland by revontuli(op):
Wroclaw city hall is peculiarly beautiful. It was built on top of a 15th century inn, which has survived to this day. The intricate carvings, window frames and statues adorning the building are truly mesmerizing to view.

I added the photo of the info plaque.

Damn, so you went to Poland and you didn't visit Krzemionki eh? oh my gosh. I'll also take a leap of faith and say that you also didn't Auschwitz? in my book, not visiting this place is like going to France and not visiting Paris. Krzemionki will ''wow'' you, just check out pictures from google images.
Next time! I will go back to see more for sure. I didn't go to Auschwitz, I was traveling with a Jewish friend, we were there to have a good happy time and she didn't want to get depressed seeing the places where her people were massacred.

Poland is a country that I love. I lived there for a year, and consequently visit regularly since the last three years. The landmass is massive, the food is good, nature is diverse, history is embedded in the architecture (except Warsaw) and it is well connected geographically to the rest of EU (bordering at least six countries) and the people are lovely (except some periodical encounter with ignorant racist). And eh, I speak Polish. You need to see the shock on those people's face when I speak Polish to them. grin

Next time, do not forget to take a 10euros flight with wizzair from Turku (Finland) to Gdansk (Poland) grin I did that route a lot when I was still studying in Finland and it's no nice. Enjoy.
I didn't know about this wizzair! 10 Euros?
I just checked they have some really cheap tickets. If I knew about them before, I wouldn't be so broke! Thanks for the tip.

This is the sarchophagus of a 10 year old boy. His grieving father commissioned the statue of the child to put on his grave.

Wealthy Romans had statues of reliefs of their deceased loved ones carved on the sarcophagi.

I’m an avid reader of reddit but I don’t post much though. I’ll check out the subreddit though. Thanks for the link.

I also think Nairaland should implement the upvote and downvote system instead of the likes system
Also they should feature interesting and educational stuff instead of empty celebrity gossip.

Like I stated earlier, the shift I work runs from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Towards the end of the shift, like around 10:00pm, the nursing assistants for each floor are supposed to clear the dining area, direct the residents to their respective rooms, crosscheck to see the residents that are not living on that particular floor or unit and send them back to their units.

I was doing exactly that, I had checked all rooms and was ticking the names off, when I got to this male resident’s room. Mind you, I was working the psych patient floor that day and these people tend to be explosively violent at the slightest “provocation” without any warning.

I got to the room door, knocked and pushed the door open. The first thing that hit me was the stench permeating the room. It smelled like _sex and fish mixed together. The curtains were drawn around the bed and I instantly knew what was going on. I was gradually backing out of the room when the male occupant jumped up and rushed towards me yelling. Luckily for me, I was facing him so I put my arms out and stopped his approach.

He was yelling in my face, screaming curse words at me and said all types of nasty things to me (which doesn’t bug me one bit cos this is clearly a mad person). But then this guy wouldn’t back away from me, he started swinging at me. My adrenaline kicked in.

I pushed him away, took off my glasses, put it on the floor and went into full fight mode (remember flight or fight response?). He rushed at me again, threw a punch at me, I ducked, grabbed him by the legs, lifted him up and pinned him down on the floor. Hec kept flailing his arms, trying to strike me. It was at that point, the female resident who he was _Fucking pulled the curtain aside, saw what was happening and started screaming.
Ow, that sounds scary and crazy! At least it's not a boring office job, every day is an adventure. You gotta post these things on reddit! They have some subreddits where people ask about bizarre stuff one experiences at their line of work.

Here is the most famous one, stuff of legend:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/xo41d/doctorsnursesredditors_what_has_been_your_most/c5o66p2

There was another nurse thread where someone told the tale about a mental patient who had a bad habit of eating watch batteries, then fishing them out of his poop and eating them again.

Can I ask if there is treatment for it that differs from home?
There is not much can be done. It's a brain difference. Best we can do is read a lot and learn social skills and try to fit in. The difference is, fitting in doesn't take a massive amount of effort in Finland.

Asperger's, ive heard of it but im not too familiar. Forgive me, isnt it related to Autism?
It's high functioning autism. Half of the nation seems autistic when they are sober, I'm not treated like a space alien like I was in America.
