If I was the dead there, I'd want chocolates thrown into my grave, not the damned alligator peppers (is this an extra hot pepper?) |
tealaw:I already have a man ![]() |
If I ever get rich enough to build a house, I will definitely hire a Polish architect.
|
There is plenty of great architecture and statues outside of the old town district, too.
|
saintkeppy:I'm neither, I'm a Georgian-American living in Finland. There are some more photos coming, and the glorious Rome soon. |
They should hire gay men as house help. Problem solved! |
It is hard to walk in this city, cause all those buildings draw your eye. Last 2 photos are the synagogue of Wroclaw, unfortunately it was closed to visits.
|
tealaw:That's me, but why should I dm you my number? Buhari why? |
Cersei:I flew from Helsinki. Flight was about 235 Euros round trip. We stayed at a very basic hotel ran by nuns, it was 160 Euro with taxes and fees etc. nights 5 days for one person. I don't know what I spent on eating but I ate mostly pasta and pizza, 10-15 Euros per meal at most. We kept it cheap. Museum tickets cost a bit, overall I'd say easily 100 Euro for all the museum and attraction tickets. |
We ran into a cool gothic cathedral which appeared abandoned. I am hoping they will restore it and open it to visits soon.
|
One of the great cathedrals of Wroclaw, featuring amazing religious art pieces and stained glass.
|
Wroclaw packs so much charm and beauty.
|
More awesome architecture of Wroclaw. There is a modern building in the 3rd photo, which they made similar to the surrounding old buildings to preserve the views of the city.
|
There was a grand cathedral, but it was under repair. The entrance is in the first photo. After walking into that section, first of the dwarfs of Wroclaw welcomed us. There are over 350 of them scattered all over the city. It started as a guerilla art project and spread, and became one of the characteristics of Wroclaw. Here is more info about the dwarfs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wroc%C5%82aw%27s_dwarfs

Wroclaw old town was truly charming. I love those roof attic windows, they look like something from Harry Potter or fairy tales.
|
Beautiful buildings clad in works of art line the grand square of the old town.
|
Wroclaw city hall is peculiarly beautiful. It was built on top of a 15th century inn, which has survived to this day. The intricate carvings, window frames and statues adorning the building are truly mesmerizing to view. I added the photo of the info plaque.
|
Our next stop was Wroclaw, here are the views on the way to the old town district.
|
The last of the night scenery of Poznan. Rain made the streets reflects the lights, which made a nice atmosphere.
|
More Poznan architecture and street views at night

pansophist:Next time! I will go back to see more for sure. I didn't go to Auschwitz, I was traveling with a Jewish friend, we were there to have a good happy time and she didn't want to get depressed seeing the places where her people were massacred. Poland is a country that I love. I lived there for a year, and consequently visit regularly since the last three years. The landmass is massive, the food is good, nature is diverse, history is embedded in the architecture (except Warsaw) and it is well connected geographically to the rest of EU (bordering at least six countries) and the people are lovely (except some periodical encounter with ignorant racist). And eh, I speak Polish. You need to see the shock on those people's face when I speak Polish to them.I didn't know about this wizzair! 10 Euros? I just checked they have some really cheap tickets. If I knew about them before, I wouldn't be so broke! Thanks for the tip. |
tealaw:I've never been to Benin republic. That was a white American guy who had a nasty personality. |
America had 44,965 recorded suicides in 2016. Current suicide rate is 13.0 suicides per 100,000 people. |
gimakon:I'm still sorting through hundreds of pictures I took with the DSLR camera, they will come soon! |
Sadly major bridges attract suicidal people all over the world. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicides_at_the_Golden_Gate_Bridge |
tealaw:You know nothing about people like me. I turned down a good looking millionaire cause he had nasty character. I dont care about money. |
This is the sarchophagus of a 10 year old boy. His grieving father commissioned the statue of the child to put on his grave. Wealthy Romans had statues of reliefs of their deceased loved ones carved on the sarcophagi.

The surviving facade of Hadrian's temple incorporated into the 19th century building that is home to Italian stock exchange today. Detailed info about it can be read on the wikipedia page, there is also a reconstruction image showing what it used to look like in its day. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_of_Hadrian

FrankNetter:Also they should feature interesting and educational stuff instead of empty celebrity gossip. |
FrankNetter:Ow, that sounds scary and crazy! At least it's not a boring office job, every day is an adventure. You gotta post these things on reddit! They have some subreddits where people ask about bizarre stuff one experiences at their line of work. Here is the most famous one, stuff of legend: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/xo41d/doctorsnursesredditors_what_has_been_your_most/c5o66p2 There was another nurse thread where someone told the tale about a mental patient who had a bad habit of eating watch batteries, then fishing them out of his poop and eating them again. |
hiawathia1981:There is not much can be done. It's a brain difference. Best we can do is read a lot and learn social skills and try to fit in. The difference is, fitting in doesn't take a massive amount of effort in Finland. |
hiawathia1981:It's high functioning autism. Half of the nation seems autistic when they are sober, I'm not treated like a space alien like I was in America. |
