I’m strongly against yahoo yahoo but why is the FBI from United States arresting Nigerians in Nigeria? I can understand if they provide material support for us but using their man power to arrest our citizens just show how much of a puppet our leaders are.

Why don’t they go to China, Russia, North Korea and etc to arrest the hackers that attack them and their government That’s because their respective government are not weak and will not let their citizens be oppressed by foreign institutions. This is so annoying.

You guys are not reading.
Read again: It says The Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is doing the raids in collaboration with the FBI. FBI sends them the IP addresses of the criminals, EFCC does the raid with Nigerian police.

Hi Crystalight,

Sorry, I wanted to say hi to you yesterday, but found myself being put in time out by the mods.
I am glad you took the plunge. I remember being new here and finding myself on the outskirts. I am very thankful for Khiaa and her friends for being welcoming to me. So, I have tried to pay it forward by being inclusive and welcoming to everyone, Even going out of my way at times. Some may read it as being something that it is not, but that is not my problem.
So that being said, friends welcome Crystallight. Do tell us about yourself.

I read your replies in FrankNetter's thread, you are getting so much good karma for helping people out. Kudos for being so nice and friendly!

Aso means attire/cloth
Ebi means family

Asoebi simply means family attire or uniform attire worn by a family to distinguish themselves from others

N/B you can only find asoebi at owanbe.

What is owanbe?
Owanbe is a social gathering as in a party with fanfare and carnival like atmosphere thrown by Yoruba ethnic group from south west Nigeria

Thank you for the explanation! So those dresses ladies wear at traditional weddings are asoebi?

Update

Working in a nursing home as a CNA taught me a lot of stuff. The healthcare field I’ve encountered so far is female dominated. There’s a rough ratio of 6 females to 1 male (I’m being moderate) when you match all positions (nurses, nursing assistants and all). By virtue of this, there’s one thing that’s constant, drama.

Based on the fact that there’s a lot of downtime, there’s little to do most days. Over the course of your 8hr shift, you’d basically work for 2hrs only on and off. These people, mostly ladies, can sit all day and talk. They jump from one topic to another and when you happen to eavesdrop on their conversation, they’re always running their mouths over something trivial and stupid. They’re always on the lookout for the next topic to latch onto or the next person to gossip about. Nobody gave me any orientation on how to handle these females so I found out the hard way. I’ll end this update with the lessons Ive learned so far over the course of this job. Like I stated in my previous posts, I’m someone who’s always looking to have the most random of conversations spanning the most random of topics, I have this theory that everyone you meet knows something you don’t. So here I was, at a new job, with lots of brains to “pick”, but can you pick a brain that has nothing inside of it?

Another thing I noticed is the animosity between black Americans and Africans. No one so far can pinpoint what the issue is, but there’s this awareness of the status quo, of the need to not “mix” with the akatas. The “hatred”(?) is just there, beneath the surface, waiting to spring out and I witnessed this firsthand when I started “talking to” and going out to lunch with someone at my job; aý beautiful black American lady.

I wish I could help you out little bro, but I worked in a 99% male dominated field through my entire life. I have no idea what it's like to work in a female majority environment, I'd probably be like a fish out of water. Best to keep your distance and if there's mobbing/bullying going on, either let the management know if you think they will do something about it or just dismiss it and listen to music/read books in downtime.

As for the animosity between black Americans and Africans, it happens between white Americans and non-anglo white immigrants too. A lot of them WASP types will treat the immigrants they deem lesser whites with disrespect and mockery, or give the cold shoulder and do workplace mobbing.

Its a simple explanation. I participate in a lot of topics and bc I want what I say to be taken for face value, I do not broadcast my gender. I have noticed that at times, statements that are said are dismissed bc of a person's gender. Most of the time, people automatically assume Im male. Sometimes I just let it go. This time in particular, I chose to come forward bc the person that I was helping was female also.

If they dissmiss what you say because of your gender, let the Nairaland feminist squad know! They are doing a good job putting the cheuvinist pigs in their place smiley

You are right and wrong at same time.
Go check average salary of an Agile Coach or Scrum Master. Don't forget Software developers look up to us, those guys are nothing without us. Remember most companies are implementing Agile Framework and traditional Project Management (waterfall) is fading out. So the demand for Scrum Master and Agile coach is high and the pay is unbeatable. I rather you compare with Solution Architecture than software developers. The only thing I will tell you is this, if you know your onion have someone to guide you and with certifications, Scrum Master role or BA is what I will always advise people to go for.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not discouraging people who have the passion for SD, but my post is for Nigerians rushing into CNA. Instead of focusing there strength in career like Scrum Master, Business Analyst, System Analyst, Project Manager and Quality Assurance because it's easy to climb in those role with flexibility of working at home most days.

Are you an agile coach?
I'm pretty burnt out with my Sysadmin/DevOps career and considering a change. What kind of training is needed to become a scrum master? Is it less stressful? Do you have to deal with people everyday?

I see this every single time I visit nigeria.

The level of gold digging that has normalized by Nigerian female is disheartening, to put it mildly. Even to a point where just saying HELLO to them seems like I owe them.

There was this girl that I fancied. I asked her out and she asked me that she is coming with her friend, which I didn’t object to. I wouldn’t expect that their ploy was to eat some of the most expensive meal, ordered take away and expected me to pay, like it’s a right. That was the day I lost interest in her completely.

And she still have the effrontery to tell me that I’ve changed towards her. Just goes to show that her gold digging is normalized.

That's terrible. Why did you pay? You should have walked out as soon as they started ordering expensive food. Some American guys do it to gold diggers who order expensive food and wine at first date.

Mediterranean meatballs with steamed peas+green beans, oven baked fries. I used frozen fries from the supermarket to save time. Meatballs are from scratch.

Photo 1: Pantheon -This style of dome was used in ancient Roman buildings.
Photo 2: One of the many obelisks of Rome. This is one of the Egyptian obelisks, see the hieroglyphs.
Photo 3: Ancient and modern architecture
Photo 4: Basilica of San Clemente al Laterano

This was one of the very few photos I was able to take, since photos and videos were totally forbidden inside.
This church is peculiar for being home to 3 levels of civilization.

The present basilica you see here was built right before year 1100, at the heyday of middle ages. There is a 4th century church under this, with some surviving frescoes depicting the martyrdom of St. Cyril. There is a huge amount of moisture they are drying out with machines, to preserve and restore the frescoes. You can hear the sound of water, which is a natural spring running under this.
One level below this is the 2000 year old pagan temple of Mithras, with its altar intact. This was the first pagan temple I have ever seen that was not in ruins. It was originally a villa that got converted to the Mithraic temple. The substructures, tunnels and rooms are majestic. Floors are the original fishbone design, which is still used in modern Rome today.

The natural spring is a special, magical thing. My only regret is not filling up a bottle there. The water looked so pure and clean. I managed to sneak a photo of this, since there were no security cameras and no one there. (Groups of tourists were touring the whole building complex)

here is the detailed info about this splendid place: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilica_of_San_Clemente_al_Laterano

We easily spent more than an hour in San Giovanni basilica.
I 'm so sorry about the bad quality of the photos, I'm too broke to buy a fast wide angle lens that can take sharp photos in dim light. Or a mirrorless camera with a lens that takes decent long exposure photos without a tripod.
I will hopefully get a better camera next year.

More of the interiors, a statue of St. John and the tomb of Pope Martin V, and the great altar.
Six popes are entombed in this basilica: : Alexander III (right aisles), Pope Sergius IV (right aisles), Pope Clement XII Corsini (left aisle), Pope Martin V (in front of the confessio); Pope Innocent III (right transept); and Pope Leo XIII (left transept), by G. Tadolini (1907).

Fontana di Trevi at dusk. This is one of the most famous fountains in the world, and it is impossible to get close to it cause of the massive horde of tourists you see here. It was far worse than this daytime. I have the daytime photos too, I will post them as I go.

The pure water spring that is the source of this fountain was found in 19 BC, the current structure was built in the 18th century.

Here is the detailed information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevi_Fountain

NOTE: I resized all the photos from my DSLR camera to 60-100 kb size so it doesn't eat up people's data quotas, since you have limited data in Nigeria. All of the photos should be only a few megabytes.
It was a crazy amount of work to go through 1600+ photos, deleting the duplicates and too dark/too blurry photos and then running them through my resizing script. I will be uploading a few everyday, and since ancient Roman history is one of my passions, I will provide some lectures on the topics I know well.

Ancient history is everywhere in this city.
Here is a modern shop, which is housed in a 19th century building that has embedded the ancient Roman columns into its facade.

(Sorry for the bad quality of this, it was too dark to get a sharp photo without using flash.)
