Your response in defens of his action suggest a well calculated attempt to paint Igbos black.

A man insulted a whole tribe (Igbo Nation) because of his personal experience on here and the elders kept quiet and effortlessly refused to call him to apologize to Igbos.

It is either your builder took his eyes off the ball (lack of attention to details) or possibly a cowboy builder. Take a careful look at the pictures I have attached including your original picture.

In your picture (with the red arrow) you will notice that the cross beam is placed directly on the blocks without a column underneath the beam. At that point, I have arrowed in red, there should have been a column to bear the load. But without that column, the blocks are serving as load-bearing (with the generally poor quality of Nigerian blocks), and not making a good job of spreading the dead load of the beam and the roof. This is the cause of the crack.

The best practice is for the cross beam to rest on the LINTEL. Take a look at my pictures (red highlighting). The all-round chaining of the lintel spread the dead load better and effectively. That is the structural purpose of all-round chaining. With your building, your builder failed to take advantage of the chain lintel by not placing the cross beam on the lintel instead he/she placed the beam directly on the blocks. This is asking for trouble in most cases.

SOLUTION
Introduce a column underneath the beam (the red arrow) - DIY approach or talk to a structural engineer if you don't feel confident.
