pacoubah:Though i haven't read all the comments, only yours seems to deal reasonably with the issue at stake. Speakership is not a personal right, but a privilege of leadership of the majority party in the house. If Tambuwal by defection makes APC majority, then apc can elect,select or appoint one of their member a speaker. Certainly, apc might not grant such highly desire privilege to a new member like Tambuwal. Existing minority whip will be first in line. But, if PDP without Tambuwal still hold majority of the seats, then pdp should appoint a new speaker. Tambuwal was not elected by his constituents as a speaker, but a representative, which he can continue to be in the absent of a recall ballot by his constituents. Some suggested is the party not individuals that are voted for and elected. And as such leaving a party nullify your election legitimacy. |

Congratulation to all who expressed their protest one way or the other over the unjustified military tribunal condemnation of these soldiers to death. America have no permanent friends, but variable interests. Other than Nigeria's checkered human rights record, America's stances against Nigeria is a trade off pacification of their Arab partners (Saudi Arabia, etc) and their marginal interest in Nigeria. USA response to our needs (weapons), are tempered by the Arab Muslims sensibilities to their African Muslims group. US oil companies will not jeopardize their mid_,east interests to satisfy Nigeria's needs. Obama himself has a Muslim orientation. For some of you local champions screaming Russian,China etc. Other than the dollar transaction hurdles, and the current sanctions against Russia, none of these countries will want to ruin their trade relationships with the USA because of Nigeria. During the cold_war of east west divide it would have been easy. In the global village (world) of today where dollars is medium of trade, tough luck. For short run, we can only try the Black market. The business of life and death which the international arms trades represents, often are covert. Less than 30% of it are transparent. Over 70% are shady in nature. Even the Usa operates more often than not, in the veiled arms market. The case of Iran-Contras arm deal comes to mind. A situation when the CIA had to receive drugs (cocaine) from Contra guerrilla army, sold them in the US, and use the proceed to buy arms for Contra to sell to the Iran govt, who was their vowed enemy. This unsavory deals was promulgated to circumvent the same USA law that forbid the sale of any new arms, ammunition, and spare-parts for their existing armaments purchased earlier during friendly time. The Contra-Army themselves were illegal guerrilla force fighting their elected Sandinista govt of Nicaragua. Won't be surprised, if this so called deal with the SA, is actually a deal where Israel is the actual seller by way of South Africa transit. Usa have dedicated intelligence that monitors world arms movements.Their predictions for 2015 is based on their knowledge of armaments by certain group in Nig.
