PoliticsRe: Jonathan - Alamieyeseigha Is Crucial To Nigeria's Economy by Rhapsody1(f): 10:41am On Mar 15, 2013
Okija_juju: Why is this Doyin Okupe Nigga still in our government please?!

I am a strong Jonathan supporter, but this guy is doing more harm than good to our 2015 comapaign... angry
Whats all this foolish talk he keeps making everyday.
Alamco is a Thief. He is helping out with the Amnesty programme my a`ss.. Wasnt it himself and Odili that armed these creek boys in the first place?! angry If anything, Alam should be in the amnesty programme as well as a repentant militant.

I am very very very disappointed in Jonathan.. If Doyin continues this foolishness on his behalf, then the 2015 dream would slowly die off.

For the first time in a while, the Fresh Air dosent smell as fresh as it should. angry
thanks a lot for this post. One of the main reason I rarely contribute here is the complete lack of objectivity by most users. Because you like and/or are loyal to a person or party, everything done by that person or party is good. And vice versa. It makes nonsense of intelligent discussion since in a bid to justify or condemn, black is blatantly labelled white.
I am not a fan of this govt. Was saying this by the third month of Yaradua's demise. I totally lost it for them after the subsidy saga. The very fact that Allison is still there disgusts me. I didn't vote for this govt, neither will I ever give it mine vote. I hope and pray that especially in the power sector, there will be a change. But even if this govt changes Nigeria to be like USA by 2015, I still will not give her my vote. I will acknowledge and commend her, but I will not trust her with my vote. That is just me. I also respect opinions contrary to mine.
But what I continually find unbelievable is the way peeps justify wrong doings. Sentiments aside, black is black. Whether you are a GEJ fan or otherwise, could we try to put aside that when we are talking about wrong and right. Whether clemency or pardon, whether Alams is needed economically or not, could we at least agree that what was done insults every decent human sensibilities? If not any other crime, the fact that he is still wanted outside the shores of Nigeria should have put this govt on caution about this pardon.
Otherwise, I truly wonder for the younger and future generations. Because we are telling them that a goat can be called a spade and nothing will happen. Infact, you will have peeps ready to die for you in defense of that.

@OP, your wife-to-be should know this side of you and as long as its ok by the two of you, it does not matter another's opinion. Although in this day and age, it no biggie helping wifey in the kitchen.

I really thank God afresh that I am out of the banking system. My bank then, the former IBPLC, had a way of modifying such directives from CBN to suit them. They will had reinforced visitation and KYC on almost ALL accounts opened while increasing your targets o. In those days, I used to sign off Visitation forms on places I had never been to. And pray nothing goes wrong with that account else it is your head. This is 'cos maybe the official car was unavailable, or there is no fuel as drivers had exhausted their weekly budget, or another. Other times, you foot the bill. It was crazy especially for semi rural areas. Imagine the number of visitations, KYC I would have been doing for my customers.

Yes and it worked for me. While my mates were going to cafes to search online for jobs, the job I got came home to find me few months after my POP (the former IBPLC). And no, I did not know anyone there prior to that. My first salary there too was my FIRSTFRUIT. I never got sacked. I resigned when Access took over last year happily. Will be giving my FIRSTFRUIT next month on my new biz. That will guarantee its upward and forward growth and expansion. Can't wait!! God's Word is INFALLIBLE.(Prov 3:9-10)

See, I am a no nonsense man, read my posts I praise you when you list some of GEJ achievements, but in this case he deserves to be slapped and I am not going to support evil.

Even in my family I flog my wife when she trash talks our house girl or anyone else, I dont support evil bc you are my friend, father, brother, wife or whatever. I praise people when they are praise worthy. You are like those peeps who has been brain washed by their pastors and GO's. Not long ago a popular Nigerian pastor slapped his church member in public and his church member's still support him till date. Even if this pastor rapes 200 women in his church ignorant foools will still find reason to support him, its a shame.

In this particular bruhaha GEJ has phucked up and again I will repeat that all of them involved needs to be slapped 200 times or bath naked in public.
Not to derail the thread, but I really want to believe the bolded was an exaggeration. Otherwise, bros you fall my hand o.

Christianity EtcRe: Do You Believe In Heaven And Hell? by Rhapsody1(f): 6:56pm On Nov 05, 2012
But the most credible proof of the existence of heaven and hell is that Jesus Christ said it exists. Hell is a terrible place, which was why God, knowing we cannot save ourselves, came down Himself and died in our stead. He went to and through hell so that YOU will not have to go there. Some non-believing doctors have made a dramatic turn around after they witnessed some deaths, or near death experiences of their patients because of what those patients said, or their reactions. Check out DR EBEN ALEXANDER for his story too. Do you think all these and many more of such stories are made up? Is that a gamble you wanna take with your life? Supposing, just supposing that there is indeed a hell, do you want to discover that when it is already too late? What do you really have to loose by giving your life to Christ? I pray that you will realize the truth before it is too late.

THOMAS PAINE: leading atheistic writer in American colonies. He is the author of THE AGE OF REASON where he defied reason and ridiculed the bible. At his deathbed, he said, “Stay with me, for God’s sake I cannot bear to be left alone. O Lord, help me! O God, what have I done to suffer so much? What will become of me hereafter? I will give words if I have them that THE AGE OF REASON had never been published. O Lord help me! Christ help me!...no don’t leave me, stay with me! Send even a child to stay with me; for I am at edge of hell here all alone. If ever devil had an agent, I have been one”

SIR THOMAS SCOTT: “up until this time, I thought there was no God neither hell. Now I know and feel that there are both, and I am delivered to perdition by the righteous judgment of the Almighty”

CHARLES DARWIN: he birthed the EVOLUTION THEORY. On his deathbed said, “everything is uncertain and dark…I regret that I suggested a theory and that gullible men gobbled it up as though it were fact. I never intended that. I am not the least afraid to die”

It is better that the verses burn than the verse maker…I return to God as a prodigal son, after I fed the swine with the Hegelians for a long time…In the theology, I have to accuse myself of retreating because I returned to a ‘personal God’.” Then he said, “God will forgive me. It is His job” and died.

DYING DECLARATION: is a statement by a person who is conscious and knows that death is imminent, concerning what he believes to be the cause or circumstances of death. He usually speaks his deepest convictions. It can be used in court as evidence in certain cases. The principle on which dying declaration is admitted in evidence is indicated in the legal maxim: “A man will not meet his maker with a lie in his mouth”.

Let me post some dying declaration of a few notable people.

THE AWFUL DEATH OF SIR FRANCIS NEWPORT

Sir Francis Newport was trained in early life to understand the great truths of the gospel; and while in early manhood it was hoped that he would become an ornament and a blessing to his family and the nation, the result was far otherwise. He fell into company that corrupted his principles and his morals. He became an avowed infidel, and a life of dissipation soon brought on a disease that was incurable. When he felt that he must die, he threw himself on the bed, and after a brief pause, be exclaimed as follows: "Whence this war in my heart? What argument is there now to assist me against matters of fact? Do I assert that there is no hell, while I feel one in my own bosom? Am I certain there is no after retribution, when I feel present judgment? Do I affirm my soul to be as mortal as my body, when this languishes, and that is vigorous as ever? O that any one would restore unto me that ancient gourd of piety and innocence! Wretch that I am, whither shall I flee from this breast? What will become of me?"

An infidel companion tried to dispel his thoughts, to whom he replied. "That there is a God, I know, because I continually feel the effects of His wrath; that there is a hell I am equally certain, having received an earnest of my inheritance there already in my breast; that there is a natural conscience I now feel with horror and amazement, being continually upbraided by it with my impieties, and all my iniquities, and all my sins brought to my remembrance. Why God has marked me out for an example of His vengeance, rather than you, or any one of my acquaintance, I presume is because I have been more religiously educated, and have done greater despite to the Spirit of grace. O that I was to lie upon the fire that never is quenched a thousand years, to purchase the favor of Gods and be reunited to Him again! But it is a fruitless wish. Millions of millions of years will bring me no nearer to the end of my torments than one poor hour. O, eternity, eternity! Who can discover the abyss of eternity? Who can paraphrase upon these words -- forever and ever?"

Lest his friends should think him insane, he said: "You imagine me melancholy, or distracted. I wish I were either; but it is part of my judgment that I am not. No; my apprehension of persons and things is more quick and vigorous than it was when I was in perfect health; and it is my curse, because I am thereby more sensible of the condition I am fallen into. Would you be informed why I am become a skeleton in three or four days? See now, then. I have despised my Maker, and denied my Redeemer. I have joined myself to the atheist and profane, and continued this course under many convictions, till my iniquity was ripe for vengeance, and the just judgment of God overtook me when my security was the greatest, and the checks of my conscience were the least."

As his mental distress and bodily disease were hurrying him into eternity, he was asked if he would have prayer offered in his behalf; he turned his face, and exclaimed, "Tigers and monsters! are ye also become devils to torment me? Would ye give me prospect of heaven to make my hell more intolerable?"

Soon after, his voice failing, and uttering a groan of inexpressible horror, he cried out, "OH, THE INSUFFERABLE PANGS OF HELL!" and died at once

FamilyRe: I Need Answers From Married People Only! by Rhapsody1(f):
I guess it all depends on one's orientation which both parties should discuss and come to an agreement before marriage. My own orientaction might not be popular but let me share it nonetheless.
My parents are civil servants. I do not know how they did things when we were small but sometimes in 1999, my dad was unjustly retired. That was when I just got my admission. Even with his meager pension and some jobs here and there, money was very tight. Mum is a teacher. It was especially during those years my respect for her grew. You see, my dad is good to a fault, you can easily take advantage of him. But all through my uni years, he was still the one I went to for my school fees and all. We kids all knew the source was my mum, but she will give him the money and he will give us. He was still and is still the man of the house in spite of the way things were. Now they have a biz he manages, mum still teaches and does other mobile businesses. But I learnt a huge lesson from it all.
My hobby and I met in our first year. Infact, I finished before him cos his course has 2 years more than mine. I was already working with a bank while he was serving when our relationship started. With us, there is no 'my' or 'his' money. It is ours. We decide on how to use and what to save. I resigned early this year, (thank God) but all this while, my pay had always been higher than his. It did not make him less than a man to me, he is absolutely not lazy (that I cannot stand both for men or women). He has been carrying most of the financial obligations all these months while I work on my new biz which we know is our ticket to financial freedom. His support has been awesome. The savings I have is ours. Whatever we decide to do with money is a joint decision. I wanted a man I will grow in every way with, not an already made man. One who will not be threatened by my success, who will encourage me in all ways as well as do same for him. I have him. In todays world, I believe it should be a joint effort by both parties. Afterall, the home belongs to you. It also means that whatever we buy tomorrow is bought in both of our names. It is working for us that way. And funny enough, we never talked about it before we got married. Its just both of our orientation. We think alike, I guess. Today, I am not 'employed' per se, but any money hobby gets, we agree on what it will be used for, and the rest I safekeep. I never knew I will say this, but today, I look back and thank God about what happened to my dad. As far as I am concerned, he provided for us especially when he lost his job. Mum 'supported' very much. I learnt so much from it, namely think beyond salary and that the family purse is owned by both parties. The home should be planned and built by both parties irrespective of who makes more.

Most responses here are downright chilling. As someone rightly said, what does the OP stand to gain by this? Has he asked you to give him anything? Minus the earthquake, what if you die tonight? Have you made peace with your Maker? A lot of things are happening and peeps make a joke out of a thing this serious. (just Google Dr EBEN ALEXANDER to hear his own story). Even if it turns out to be a lie, is that a chance you willing to take? To risk your life, your eternal destination on 'logic' and 'science' or plain 'unbelief'? What will you give in exchange for your soul? People, the way to salvation is so simple. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and confess His Lordship over your life. That simple, you are translated from darkness to light. Ask for and receive the Holy Spirit who will help you live right. Study the bible regularly and start attending a living church. Forget whether this is true for a Minute and think: a lot who die daily did not start out that day thinking death. How ready were they? It could be anyone's turn anytime, and you generally do not have advance notice. Now is the appointed time.

And tell as many people of this too whether you believe it or not. Its better to err on the side of caution.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Dancing ' Azonto & Kukere ' In Church Appropriate ? by Rhapsody1(f):
haibe: Hey guys please, there is nothing wrong in being religious as some of us think, being religious doesnt make you an hypocrite, infact we have some religious rites like the lord supper, water baptism..etc so i dont know why some people here are condemning religion. Of course we shouldnt serve God as if we are bound to but that doesnt mean being religious is bad, Jesus condemned the hypocrisy of the pharisees not their being religious, if they were religious and practicing what they teach jesus wouldnt have condemned them.

So pls guys, there is difference in being religious and being an hypocrite.
This is exactly my point. Jesus condemned the pharisees because they believed and tried to make others too that their keeping the law, being all nice and all gave them a ticket to heaven. Remember the story Jesus told about the pharisee and tax collector that went to pray. See the content of the man's prayer and how Jesus responded to it. If that was so, Jesus did not need to come and die. Religion is trying to do all the required things to please a deity and in return, you expect him do bless you. And so because you do so and so, God is expected to do so and so. Those things in themselves, even as you mentioned above are not bad in itself. But it is idolatry to think that they are what will take you to heaven. Paul said it is no longer I but Christ who lives and works in me. He also said it is not by works so no man can boast. Do you understand that. Christianity is not about dos and donts. Carefully study the book of 1 Corithians. Once you give your life to Christ, you ask for and receive the Holy Spirit. Listen to Him, let him order your steps. And do not ever think you are so good, cos our rightoeusness is filthy before God. It is only in Christ, that we are declared righteous. And not because we did any good thing. Infact, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us Rm 5:8. Once you accept Him, you are declared "righteous". The Holy Spirit is will now guide you as you grow into maturity. It is not by works, it is grace. So drop your religious mindset.

tintingz: you are tryna twist the bible scripture using another version. . .
1. Michol opposed David for dancing "uncovering" himself in the presence of his servants and yes he danced with his might and nake.d or are you there when he's doing it? cuz Michol said to him "uncovering" nothing like exposed body or garment was mention. . .i quoted the verse out and i did'nt get the reason she did'nt had no child.
2. King David did'nt dance in the temple of God nor use it in form of worshiping God. . .he only danced because he's happy and joyful to God for the ark as been returned to his kingdom. . .again he didn't danced it as a worship, i danced when am happy on something or in parties buh not in the house of God.
Again i asked did Jesus danced to communicate to God since you are christ-like?
I think what I quoted was in black and white, not twisting. But, no problem. I cannot force the scriptures on you.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Sinful To Wear Trousers As A Christian Lady? by Rhapsody1(f): 5:36pm On Oct 06, 2012
I also gave this response on another thread about certain dances in church. It may be of some help.

The main problem of Christians is that they act, live, believe that Christianity is a religion. A dos and don'ts thingy. Christ said that He came so that we Can have life IN ABUNDANCE, TO THE FULL. Have you ever wondered why the only people Jesus woed were the pharisees and Sadducees? These were the teachers of the Law! They have every law of Moses at the finger tip. They obeyed them strictly. And yet, these same people were the ones that got woed by the Lord. He called them white washed tombs, good on the outside but dead inside. Paul described it as "having a form of godliness but denying its power"2 Timothy 3:5. He also said that they refuse to enter the kingdom and also try to prevent others from entering too, ""What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people's faces. You won't go in yourselves, and you don't let others enter either" Matthew 23:13.
They were still the ones that planned and ensured he was killed. They were the same ones that payed the guards to spread lies about His resurrection. Do you know why? Religious mindset. And that is one of the biggest problems of the church today. Think about Paul, what he was before his encounter with Christ and what he became after.

Once you give your life to Christ, the bible says, you are a new creature, child of a King. You are to ask and you will be filled with the Holy Spirit. He will direct your every step except you are not listening. So OP, are you a Christian? Are you Spirit Filled? Who created music and dance? God. And the bible says that God looked at all He made and said it was good. Same bible tells me to do everything to the Glory of God. Why would a dance step God's child is dancing to the glory of God be a problem, whether in church or outside? You see, we leave substance and chase shadows. Satan delights in keeping Christians so occupied with irrelevant matters while the main thing we have been called to is left unattended. SOUL WINNING. See 1 John 2:20. And note that he was even talking to babes in the Lord, not elders. So what I always tell a Christian is this, listen to the Holy Spirit who lives not in church building but in you. Also read the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 10. These Christians had their own questions, should we do this, or not. Take special note of how Paul tackled their questions. If you prefer a solemn assembly kind of church, no problem. Jesus said the time is coming and is now here when we shall neither worship God at sokoto or Jamaica, but that true worshippers will worship in spirit and truth John 4:21-24 (pls read this using the living bible translation). The one who wants to worship in a non solemn assembly church, no problem. Just ensure you worship in truth and in spirit, and bro, you can never go wrong. Because the Holy Spirit in you will never lead you to do something contrary. Christians, could we drop this religious mindset. It is not keeping the rules and laws that gets you to heaven. There are a lot of good nice people who are great moralist but will still not make heaven. Why? There is only one way, Jesus Christ. There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved" Acts 4:12. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" Romans 10:9. It is accepting and confessing the Lordship of Jesus Christ over your life. And pls constantly study(not just read) the bible, cos peeps perish out of ignorance.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Sinful To Wear Trousers As A Christian Lady? by Rhapsody1(f): 5:30pm On Oct 06, 2012
I used to have this question and God gave me my answer. Let me share it with you.

There are only 2 sexes, right? Male and female. God did not create hermaphrodites. So the clothes we were are made either for male or female, right? Now let me assume I took you to a boutique, and asked you to pick a suit for your dad. Do you agree that there are certain types of trouser suits you cannot buy for him (female trouser suits).
Why? The answer I usually get is, "it is not a male trouser suit". And so if it is not a male trouser suit, it can only be a female trouser suit (since we have already established that God did not create hermaphrodites). So it is always easy to distinguish a male attire from a female's ie going by Deutronomy 22:5 that folks love quoting. There is no mistake. I am yet to see the female trouser suits on males, and some other kinds of trousers that males do not wear 'cos it was not made for them. There are also clothing that are called uni sex.

The important thing is to do every thing to the glory of God.

But most importantly, what did Jesus say when he was asked to summarize the law. He said, Love of God and Love for your neighbor. If you love someone, you will not harm him. Its so simple. The problem today is that of indecent dressing, which I agree is not acting in love. But I will always say to whoever calls himself a Christian that he (should) has the Holy Spirit, allow Him to lead you. The bible says anything done outside of faith is wrong. So make sure you know why you do what you do. Look good, Look great. You are the child of a King, the owner of the whole world. So dress like royalty. Beautifully, not indecently. It is tacky anyway to dress indecently

did i not read here that Michol said to David he was dancing nake.d in front of his servants?. . .moreover christians use this verse and some other verses to back up their dancing stunt when all this didn't happen in the temple buh just a sign of joy and happiness to God not a form of worshiping God. . .since christianity means christ-like i believe the way they should pray and worship must go with the way christ Jesus glorify his father in the bible. . .buh i didn't read where Jesus is dancing to communicate to God or preached it to his disciples. huh
And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod 2 Samuel 6:14 .

I guess you did not see this verse BEFORE the one you quoted. Could we always try to read and understand the bible within the context it was said. The bible specifically mentioned David was "girded with a linen ephod". A priestly garment by the way. The issue was that in the course of his "leaping and jumping" some parts of his body (certainly not private parts) were exposed. It was not a royal thing to ordinarily happen. Micah was concerned more about females, not even the males (note that). Maybe she did not want them getting ideas or it was just an appearance kind of a thing. "I am royalty and so must not condescend to do this in their presence". We can only guess."When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!. 2 Samuel 6:20. I think it was the fact that the girls were there that irked her most. So no, David did not dance naked.
Christianity EtcRe: Is Dancing ' Azonto & Kukere ' In Church Appropriate ? by Rhapsody1(f):

And pls constantly study(not just read) the bible, cos peeps perish out of ignorance.

tintingz: *shocking* a whole king dancing nake.d in public(picturing the scene) how king David go be in front of the women. . .atleast he didn't do it in the temple grin
David did not dance naked. He danced with all his might leaping and jumping. 1 Samuel 6:14. I am guessing that in the course of the joyous Jumping and leaping , his legs, or thigh or chest may have been exposed. Remember in the culture of those days, it was not polite to see such. But David was too caught up to notice, and God was pleased with him. That was what the wife Micah was talking about. She was more concerned about appearance than praising God. See 1 Samuel 6:20-23

uj_sizzle: Oh puhleease why don't y'all go on an crucify them for something almost every Nigerian is guilty of too. Isn't the media supposed to give unbiased facts?? So anyone accepting what they read in the newspapers isn't off the mark or is it just because its GEJ?? The man accepted his mistake and apologised to nigerians that's honorable IMO so move on with ur lives abeg. We have hoped for good n transparent leadership for so long and now we're getting it we still can't figure out how to handle it.
Did he apologize? I am yet to see that. What I saw so far was an acknowledgement and a justification by calling it a NOTORIOUS FACT, (which btw according to definition is not). Could you please show me where he actually apologized.
PoliticsRe: I Goofed, Businessday Misled Me - GEJ by Rhapsody1(f):
superior1: Abeg, what is the meaning of Notorious Fact huh huh huh [/b][/size] huh huh huh
It is a fact that is so notorious or well known, or so authoritatively attested, that it cannot reasonably be doubted. In law, notorious facts need not be proved in the usual way. They are said to be so obvious that a court may simply take notice of them.

Based on the above definition, that gaffe does not qualify as NOTORIOUS FACT. Or else, why had Premium Times needed to confirm from TI if it was a well known/authoritatively attested fact. And if media houses were not aware of this fact, how was the average Nigerian expected to know. Plus, it is not tenable in court without supporting evidence. Another (better) phrase should be used to describe the mistake, and not NOTORIOUS FACT. Just pointing out something

Babe, I think you need to go through the thread to see the points peeps are making. The link you gave compared corruption perception between 2001 and 2011. GEJ cannot take credit for that since he took over in 2010. Peeps are saying that according to the TI he referenced, Nigeria's result is actually worse between 2010 and 2011. So what he claimed as achievement under his administration was not true. It is as simple as that. I do not believe in throwing insults at anyone, but let us also stop denying facts. If you concur with this report, it does not mean that you have betrayed a president you love. Let us at least be truthful, look at argument from both sides and judge fairly. You do a loved one or anyone for that matter a great disservice if you fail to tell them the truth, which is what I believe the people GEJ have surrounded himself are doing

Chrisbenogor: I totally disagree with the bolded part, this is the whole point of the thread. Hitting anyone because they did something wrong is wrong, child mother father brother housegirl it does not matter what you are doing is inflicting physical pain on another human being that is weaker than you are and this is the genesis of violence in our society.
Which is why I took the pains to make those definitions. I will not tolerate someone hitting my child neither will I hit another. But I will discipline my child as I deem fit even if it involves flogging. The key is, the child should know why he is being punished. The punishment should be commensurate with the offense. A lighter punishment for a first time offender while making him know that subsequent behavior will attract so and so. Never hit a child in anger. It could be easily misunderstood, and the aim of the correction defeated. I respect your opinion, just disagree with it, Anyway, I will not discipline your child for you and vice versa.

Let me give you an example. When we were younger, my sister did something . It happened in the afternoon, but my dad did not say anything (he was probably very angry, something very rare for him). Later at night (when he was calmer), he called us all, and we sat down. He explained what my sister did, the implication and the punishment,(6 strokes of the cane). It was not more or less. My dad hardly ever flogged us. My mum did, most times in anger. I know what that did to me and the difference I observed with my dad's type of discipline. My dad did not make that mistake, and we got the message. Some peeps will not agree with him. I do. And please remember I am strictly talking about my child's discipline. I also will not tolerate one of my kids hitting his other sibling or fighting outside. Disciplining my child may sometimes involve the cane, not always. I also hope that after they are beyond 8 years, cane will be hardly used again. Other forms of discipline will be employed.

debrief08: Do you by any chance have a degree in psychology and if you do, have you carried out any research on the bolded above to arrive at such a conclusion?
Most abusers are charming, loving, extra caring, those signs will be mistaken for love it is when the abuser is sure of his/ her dominance that the mental abuse starts and followed by physical abuse.
Your explanation is possible in some situations but not all, some abuse starts when the abuser gets influenced by drugs or alcohol, so it is not in all cases that the victim "knows' and willingly submits to abuse.
Actually I do not have, but it is true. The bolded says it all. Most peeps make this mistake during dating/courtship. That a partner is caring, extra loving does not really tell the true character. The person may be acting cos he/she wants something. Which is why I have always said that people reveal their true character in little things. Look beyond how that person treats you to how how treats others: the annoying boss, neighbor, people who he/she cannot benefit from. When a friend crosses him/her, what is the reaction. How does he/she talk about unpleasant stuff. Does he/she do the blame game or accept consequences, take responsibility. What is he/she like behind the wheels or say if walking someone splashes water on him/her. Some even explain certain jealousy or too possessive attitude as love. I have been in a cab one time and the chick beside me asked me to talk to the person on the other line confirming she is where she claimed to be. That was her guy. I don't know if you get my drift. Little things. Seemingly inconsequential things. His/her opinions on certain issues could also be a clue. Many of the times, these clues are ignored for one reason or the other. I could go on and on, share some of my own experiences but that will be too long. Also, like I pointed out, before it gets to the physical abuse, the emotional, psychological, verbal, attitudinal ones would have gone ahead. The reaction of the receipts many times paves way to continued or discontinuation of that abuse. One got to know when to back out before it becomes life threatening. i remember seeing a thread of someone whose hubby slapped. I think she was preggy then too. She said she called his family members to tell them, and emphasis that she will not tolerate a second occurrence. Now whether that response was good or not is immaterial. I am glad that by doing so, she sent a strong message to her hubby, This will not be tolerated again. That man will think twice before hitting her again.

I know a bit of your story from some of your posts. And I hail you because though I cannot imagine it, to some large extent I know it was an awful experience. And I am amazed you are in a better marriage now. Your story inspires many. Let me ask you this and I trust you will give me an honest answers. Your present hubby treats you great right? Look back on when you were dating your first hubby. With what you now know, would you still have married him? And if those signs were missed before marriage, when the other abuses started, would you have stayed as long as you did? You made excuses for him then. The people around did not know better too. And so it took your dad to get you out. Today, you have no regrets. Even if you were not married again, you will not regret walking out. How come you made a better choice in your present hubby? Many people jump out of an abusive relationship to get into another. Why didn't you? Do you see my point now?

What I am saying is that it is possible to get some pointers to a who a person is. Instruction remains the best teacher, not experience. While people should now when to get out of an abusive relationship, it will even be better to know what to look out for so as to minimize the chances of entering a relationship that has a high percentage of becoming abusive
