Or people who will rather watch BBN or Premier league on election day
In 2019 na Fela Durotoye, Moughalu and Sowore dey dominate internet polls because del sabi speak English
Buhari was not trending online atiku actually won 90% of online polls in 2019. |

Who is Atiku? Where was he born? Who are his parents? What primary and secondary school did he attend?
BTW.... what's your obsession with BAT basic Education? Did he sit for GCE or not? Did he attend higher Institution or not? Did he work with international firms both in the Country and outside the Country or not?
Perhaps you can help us with his real details as unravalled by Obidients Bureau of Intelligence. hehehehe |

owobokiri: Is there any place where anyone is telling you that the government should take over everything? How about helping local companies!? What part of it you don't understand? Must it be foreign companies? Agree you incapable of creating a Shell or Eninor Chevron!? I gave you examples of similar companies created by nations with oil deposits like Nigeria and you started your drivels. ARAMCO is a Saudi indigenous Oil company that is doing even better than your shell. Ditto petrogas. Build up your own businesses like they have done if that is not your arguement. Then you missed the point of my arguement Have a great day. |
Politics › Re: Tesla To Mine Nigerian Lithium. Buhari Says They MUST Build Battery Factory 1st. by ribbit: 2:01pm On Sep 16, 2022 |
owobokiri: Do you know about ARAMCO? Google about the company, what it does, who owns it and how it has revolutionalized the Saudi economy with Saudi Oil wealth, then come back to this thread and make better informed posts. Why should shell be building refineries for you!? 60 years since you started oil explorations and you haven't been able to raise an indigenous Oil major to do that? Google PETRONAS too.. are you even following the arguement at all or you just wanna sound cool? Lemme repeat myself one last time. When government takes over stuff, that stuff is run to the ground and it deters foreign and local investors because they can't compete with government who will be the one dictating in that market. We saw that in telecoms until government completely removed their hands. Then foreign and local investors are competing favorably. Every other things government runs is now in shambles thanks to corruption and negligence. So don't you think it's insane to ask the same government to start running other sector? Capitalists countries all over the world don't allow government to run anything but regulate the market cos government running things is not always efficient. Imagine government taking over mining of limestone mining In the country and forcing the likes of dangote to compete with it in the cement industry, then we will probably be exporting limestone today and importing cement at market price. The likes of armarco belongs to royal family, it's still technically a private investments that the royal families feed fart on and wouldn't want it run to the ground unlike countries that practice democracy. I hope you got it now. |

owobokiri: He's not even talking about just government companies, he is also talking about building up indigenous private companies to play serious roles in these areas in other to create jobs, domesticate technology and retain earnings! This is so easy to grasp but you guys are making it look like rocket science! MTN is not a South African government company. It's an indigenous South African private company dominating the telecom business in Nigeria. South Africa propped up that company to world standards. Today it's competing seriously on the international stage.
Are you guys saying that Nigerians and Nigerian companies are inherently incapable of such? Is that not the height of inferiority complex? Instead of deliberately auctioning off Nigerias mineral assets to unconcerned foreigners at every turn, why not empower local players to be more active in these areas? Is there any example of a major economy that has been developed totally by outsiders? Do you know that MTN ships out billions of dollars in this country on yearly basis? Do you know that capital flight is part of the reason for forex scarcity in Nigeria? How can you control your economy to serve your people if all the major players are foreigners, from banks to telecom to mining? you missed the whole point and you turned it on its head. Investors don't have to be foreigners. it could be local. But if government takes large portion of a particular investment, it deters investors and competition. We have seen that in everything else government controls. The likes of globacom is a private investor in communication competing with it's foreign counterpart and dictating the market. Expecting government to take over another mining sector instead of issuing licences like what they just proposed for Tesla is stupid. Shell etc could have been the ones to build refinery for the country and export finished petroleum to the rest of the world if proposals like this were in place when those companies took over. But no, Nigeria government wanted to do long throat. Now all the refineries are dead, now they are exporting crude oil at cheap price and importing petroleum at market price as those who don't even have the crude oil. |

ScamHunter: Nonsense policy. Are all these raw materials the white man is extracting and giving Africans paper renewable? Why are blacks so sense? Who is the wealth going to since 500 years? Why are Africans incapable of using their own wealth or going to Asia and America to bring back raw materials? isn't that what the policy is supposed to stop? You sabi read so? |

Ruke1989: stop talking like a politician, if govt can monopolize the crude oil through NNPC being sole importer, if govt can monopolize security and not allow state or private police like in the US or UK, if govt can monopolize seaport, airport construction and ownership unlike having private airports in the UK, then don't they have no excuse. You should be educated enough to have heard about Public Private Partnership (PPP), Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) business models. If foreign investor doesn't come to mine your minerals 60 years after your birth, you politicians should not be lazy, look for any of the profitable business models above and build companies based on that. That way the private sector manages it and it will be effective. Why can't you lazy politicians own and run business efficiently. It's because of your laziness and hatred for reforms. Govt all over the world run companies efficiently - China, Russia, Saudi, Indian, UK, German, South Africa govts, etc run companies efficiently. What makes you different is your spell bound corruption and laziness how are the likes of nnpc, security etc doing compared to segment dominated fully by private investors like communications? |

If this story is true, then that means Nigerian leaders are beginning to have sense.
Infact if I'm the president, I will tell them, whatever they mine Nigeria should never be exported as raw materia but finished product.
Mine it, turn them to batteries here and ship the finished batteries to the rest of the world.
No more exporting raw materials for scrap and importing expensive finished product.
It's madness. |
