Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, have arrived Nigeria today for a three-day visit on their West African tour.


They arrived the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 2:00 pm on Tuesday, where they were welcomed by top government officials.

During their stay in Nigeria, the Royal Highnesses will takeout a series of engagements in Abuja and Lagos.

They began their tour in Gambia, after which they headed to Ghana next. Nigeria is the third stop of their West African tour.

The Lagos State Government on Monday said the ongoing Oshodi Transport Interchange is almost ready, with 85 percent of the project done.


The state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Adebowale Akinsanya, made the announcement on Monday on the state of the project. He said the project would be completed in the first quarter in 2019.


He praised motorists and residents for cooperating with the government in the implementation of the project, assured that the work would be completed as schedule.

He said:

"At the moment, 83 per cent total work progress has been achieved, including completion of piling works on the three terminals and completion of the piling works for the skywalks.

Among others, we have completed works on the pile caps for the three terminals, concrete works of the buildings, ground floor works on all the loading bays for the three terminals, erection of steelworks for the skywalks and terminals and taxi park and car park area, while road works around the terminal are at an advanced stage, as well as bus holding bays around the terminals."

Floyd Mayweather, 41, announced he will be fighting a Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 20, on New Year’s Eve in Saitama, Japan.

The fight American undefeated boxer, who has never been beaten in all 50 of his career fights, also made an announcement that he has signed with Japanese mixed martial arts promotions company RIZIN Fighting Federation ahead of the bout.

American rapper, 50 Cent, has taken to him Instagram to shade the Mayweather for accepting a deal to fight a 20-year-old kickboxer. He wrote:

A bride was left to tears on her wedding day after her father abruptly called off her wedding. He said the groom disrespected him, so the wedding can not continue.

The groom, Tunji Curtis, has been engaged to the bride, Oluwaseun Adugbe, for five years and have a 5-year-old child together.

Tunji arrived Ibadan for the marriage, only to receive the news from Mr Adugbe that the wedding has been called off because Tunji failed to honor a meeting he called for on Friday before the wedding on Saturday.

When asked, Tunji said:

"This is shocking. I don’t believe this is truly happening, because my wife and I had no issues at all and I can’t remember having any issue with her father. In fact, I sent money to her father last week Thursday as part of my contributions towards the wedding. I asked my father in-law what went wrong; he told me that I failed to honour a meeting yesterday. I tried to explain to him that I was extremely busy making sure that everything was in place so that we could have a smooth celebration."

When asked what his next plans would be, Tunji replied:

"Right now, I just want to forget about this drama and cool off. I will think of the next thing to do when I wake up tomorrow."

Tunji’s elder sister, Abibat, who came to Ibadan with 15 persons, including family members and friends, said she was disappointed by the actions of the bride’s family. She said:

"You can imagine the excuse that they gave for the cancellation of the wedding. I have never seen any family that is as irresponsible as this. I don’t blame them; I blame our son, who took the wrong step. The wedding is over and we will be going back to Lagos anytime from now."

Leicester City players are currently in Thailand for the funeral of the club’s owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who was killed in a helicopter crash.

They joined Sunday’s Buddhist prayers for Mr Vichai and will also be around on Monday before going back to the UK to prepare for their home match against Burnley on Saturday.


Jamie Vardy and club captain, Wes Morgan, are among the players who attended a prayer ceremony at a Bangkok temple for Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s funeral.

The funeral ceremony began on Saturday with Buddhist bathing rituals and is going to last for 7-days.

The Leicester players travelled to Thailand on a 12-hour flight on Saturday after winning 1-0 at Cardiff City in the Premier League, in the first game since his death.

On arrival, the players gave Mr Vichai’s family a hug, and then offered jasmine flowers as they knelt in front of an octagonal jewelled urn given by the king.

President Muhammadu Buhari in the 24th convocation ceremony of University of Uyo, warned Nigerian elites to stop misleading the people through their unguarded utterances.


The President, who was represented by the Director of Corporate Communications, National Universities Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Yakasai, said universities as home of great thinkers, should give guidance to the communities to enable the people to make informed decisions as the nation approached the 2019 general elections.

The President said:

"At this point, I want to be very clear and equivocal, that the Federal Government will never condone or tolerate incendiary remarks from any person or group of persons, which are meant to harass, intimidate, cause fear and spread hate, no matter how highly placed such a person is.

Law enforcement agencies should fish out people who make inciting statements, instigate civil disobedience, broadcast hate speeches or stir strife, riot and rebellion and bring them to book.

We should continue to live together as brothers and sisters."

The Police arrested Chief Lilian Nma Achumba for selling babies to people who are willing to buy for a high price.

Chief Lilian 52-year-old who runs a charity home, with 35 pregnant girls, 6 children and a day old baby living in the home in Nma Charity and Rehabilitation Centre,Umunkpeyi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government in Abia.

She being the gang leader and her two other accomplices were arrested yesterday by the Chief Superintendent of police, Aremu Adeniran, who is the deputy force public relations officer.

Her accomplices were arrested at the Idi-Iroko border in Ogun state on 20 July with two newly-born babies, meant for sale in Benin Republic.

The two accomplices, Emmanuel Chigozie Elesuwa,44, and Chioma David,33, confessed they bought the babies at N350,000 each at Nma Charity home and they were taking them to Benin to sell at N700,000 each.

Aremu Adeniran said:

"Consequently, the suspects, Emmanuel Chigozie Elesuwa and Chioma David, admitted and confessed to the Police investigation team that they are members of a criminal gang that specialize in buying and selling of new born babies and children within and outside Nigeria and have been in operation for over ten years.

During interrogation and further investigation into the roles played by Chief Lilian Nma Achumba, the owner of Nma Charity Home in Aba, Abia State indicted in the confession of the two suspects, it was discovered that the purpose of establishing the Orphanage Home is to harvest babies for sale and she also operate other branches of the orphanage home in Port-harcourt and some other parts of the Country."

According to reports, 28 out of the 36 pregnant girls and three children who were found at the Nma charity home, have been handed over to the Ministry of Strategy and Social Development, Umuahia, Abia State and have been re-united with their families after receiving medical attention.

A 4-month-old baby, Sterling Koehn, died last August of a diaper rash after his parents left him in a dirty diaper for 14 days. His parents, Zachary Koehn,28, and Cheyanne Harris,21, have been charged with murder and child endangerment, which they both pled not guilty to both charges.


Sterling’s lifeless body was discovered in a swing in his parents home. According to The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier:

"The prosecutor said the dirty diaper attracted bugs, which laid eggs that hatched into maggots. Severe diaper rash set in, causing open wounds that allowed bacteria to enter the baby’s bloodstream, and the baby subsequently died of malnutrition, starvation, and the infection. Sterling was found dead after his father called 911 saying the baby had died. EMT Toni Friedrich, who was first to arrive on the scene, testified that Sterling’s eyes were open in “a blank stare” when she first saw him, and when she moved his blanket, gnats flew up."

Vice-President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday said he was learning the Shaku Shaku dance step ahead of the 2019 general election and since then he has been receiving people’s opinion on it.


Peter Obi, the running mate to Atiku Abubakar, in the 2019 presidential election has joined the bandwagon of people commenting on the statement. He said the country’s leaders should be more focused on moving the nation forward and not learning how to dance Shaku Shaku.

He said in his statement to journalists:

“I have not had the opportunity of reading his comments as I haven’t seen the dailies. I know Vice-President Osibanjo is a gentleman and may not have made such a comment.

"However, while I am not against people dancing or learning how to dance ‘Shaku Shaku’, as I believe it is one of those things that is keeping our people going on in this very difficult times, I believe that the crossroads that we have found ourselves in as a nation requires sober reflection.

"For me in particular, this period calls for sober reflection not dancing or learning how to dance as there are many challenges facing our nation at the moment. Not the least being recently having our country named the world headquarters of extreme poverty with over eighty seven million people. Worse still millions more are losing their jobs, with four million by the third quarter of this year alone.

"Millions of Nigerians go to bed hungry not knowing where the meal for the next day will come from, hundreds of thousands risk death by crossing the Sahara and the Mediterranean Sea to wherever they can make a living.

"These and other challenges are indicative of the dire straits facing us as a nation today. And these are what we on the Atiku team are spending our time with the best minds on how to start creating jobs and putting food on people’s table. We must get Nigeria to start working again for the good of everyone.”

The English football club, Leicester City’s owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha helicopter was recently involved in a helicopter crash, when his copter crashed in flames outside the club’s stadium some hours ago.

Reports say there was a loud mechanical sound before they saw the helicopter spiralling then crashing into flames in car park E (the club’s staff car park.) It was said to have taken off from the pitch some seconds before 8.30pm.

News confirming Vichai’s presence on-board in the helicopter has not been confirmed yet, but he was seen at the game match against West Ham which ended in a 1-1 result and finished 45 minutes before the crash.

No name of anyone has been announced as a passenger in the crashed helicopter but it is said to have carried alot of people because after each home game about 20 dignitaries are taken away from the stadium in the helicopter. An eye witness told news men:

“It sounds as if there was a problem with the rear tail propeller which sent it spinning out of control and it crashed into the car park at the rear of the King Power Stadium, just a few hundred metres away from where the pitch is, before it burst into flames.”

Patricio Salazar 54-year-old, a native of Virgina, America, was beaten to death after he intervened and tried to stop a sexual assault on a lady. According to reports, he was attacked by Michael Nash 27-year-old, who was walking with a woman he knew before he started to physically and sexually assault her. Salazar witnessed the assault and tried to help the lady, when Nash attacked him and started beating him.

An eye witness, 27-year-old Brad Flood, told reporters:

 “I saw a girl, unclothed, sitting there curled up in a ball. And she was the one screaming. He was like, ‘Don’t call the cops; you call the cops, I will end your world. He came enough into the light that I could see a bunch of blood on his fists.” 

 Flood also said after Nash threatened him, he saw Salazar laying on the ground. He said:

 “There was a lot of blood, a lot of blood on his face, his head. I asked if he was OK, he said he was in a lot of pain. He said his back and his head hurt.”

 Arlington police said Salazar was unconscious when he arrived at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, U.S. Investigators said Nash took off from the scene of the assault and tried to steal a cell phone from two people, but they resisted, and he ran away. He eventually stole a cell phone from another woman, police added.  Nash was arrested without incident later that evening and charged with abduction with the intent to defile, forcible sodomy and animate object sexual penetration. Additional charges are pending.  A GoFundMe page created by Flood to raise money for Salazar’s family had raised nearly $5,700 of its $10,000 goal as of Monday night. Flood wrote that if Salazar’s family declines the money, he will donate it to the victim or a charity that supports sexual assault victims.

Hungarian-American investor, business magnate, philanthropist, political activist and author, George Soros, 88-year-old, reportedly had an explosive device in his mail box outside his New York residence on Monday.

A staff at the residence opened the package and saw it was an explosive device, then kept it in a wooded area and called the Town of Bedford Police Department. Soros was not at home at the time the explosive was found.

The Police alerted the Bomb squad technicians, who arrived and detonated the bomb.

According to reports, Soros is a target of a hostile media campaign by the nationalist government in his native Hungary and a hate figure for right-wing campaigners in eastern Europe and the United States.
