Mr. Globe:The poster made valid points and for Gods sake we are talking about Nigeria here, why are you comparing Nigerian prisoners with UK and USA? Do you think white people, especially British people are as rich as they claim? Since you brought UK to this let me tell you, I have been to many developed countries especially UNITED KINGDOM on several occasions, most British people are in SERIOUS debts. They buy ALMOST everything on CREDIT? For instance, most Nigerians have more than 1 phone and we pay 100% for it everything that we buy or own, in England they buy on credit and it takes them years to pay off. Everything I have in this world belongs to me 100%, from houses to clothes and cars etc, but in UK they claim to own cars and houses while in the real sense most people there cant afford to buy car or house in cash, therefore they buy on credit and it usually takes them 15 to 35 years to pay off their mortgages and car loans. The British family friend i usually visit is about 65 years old and has debt of 46,000 pounds mostly from betting/football pools. His first daughter is in debt of over 35,000 pounds and the other people i know in UK are all in debt. How did i know? Because we are family friends and we do talk about our economies. What am trying to say is this. White people usually quote figures to discredit us. These people don't like us, and they are part of our problems. WHEN YOU GO TO ENGLAND YOU NOTICE THAT ALMOST EVERYONE IS WORKING JUST TO PAY OFF THEIR DEBTS ![]() You said some Nigerians sleep under the bridge? Is that news? Name any country on earth that doesn't have street people? In USA and UK some of their WHITE CITIZENS sleep under the bridge just like some Nigerians do. Some white people are as poor as church rats. I know we are poor but we are not as poor as they claim. A white bastard once asked me if we have good houses and hotels in Nigeria? You know why? Because probably he still thinks we live in CAVES, hell yeah that's what they show them on TV over there. When I go to my village and look round, I don't see anyone living on less than 2$ a day as claimed by them white supremacists. We have no oil and gas in my village, but everyone in my village has large farmlands and cash crops, we are hard working and able to produce enough food to feed our families, sell and make money. Almost every family in my village has two or 3 graduates or under graduates, now if you are that poor and wretched how can you afford university education? Over 35% of houses in my village have bore hole which costs more than 350,000 naira. I am using my village for just for example. I am yet to see any village or city where 80% of the people live on less than $2 a day. It could be possible in the north but whats their population anyways? |

Ricky_Ross:I got this from Ghanaweb this morning and wanted to share. Is this true or just a bloated figure? How did Sanusi get the accurate figure of ALL Nigerians studying in Ghana? How did he know the exact fee each Nigerian student is paying in Ghana? In my opinion this is just a pure LIE. Few months ago the UK government said foreign students in the UK contribute up to 2 billion pounds to the British economy. In the UK there are foreign students from over 75 countries from around the world studying over there. If all these foreign students from over 75 countries around the world are only able to contribute 2 billion pounds to UK economy how come only Nigerians are spending 1 Billion Dollars to study in Ghana? WHY DO OUR LEADERS LIE PUBLICLY WITHOUT FACTS AND FIGURES ![]() How many universities are there in Ghana to start with? I think they are less than 10 universities in Ghana, on average do we have up to 2,000 Nigerians in each university in Ghana ![]() |
There are about 71,000 Nigerian students in Ghana paying about a billion US dollars annually as tuition fees, according to the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. Speaking at a book presentation in Kaduna during the celebration of the 80th birthday of Prof. Adamu Baike yesterday, the CBN governor said that the time has come when Nigeria needs to take the difficult step of overhauling political structures which have ensured that states spend about 96 percent of their resources paying salaries and allowances. Sanusi also faulted the wisdom behind establishing nine new federal universities when existing ones have not been adequately funded by the government. According to him, the paucity of funding has led to a mass exodus of students and teachers to better organised educational settings such as Ghana, South Africa and other parts of the world. Extracts from his his paper entitled “Re-invigorating education in Nigeria: While lamenting the huge number of Nigerian students studying outside the country in what he described as “better organized educational settings” and the huge amount of money they pay as tuition, the CBN governor noted that the tuition paid by these students is more than the annual budget for all federal universities in the country. In his words, “although there are no comprehensive data on the number of Nigerian students abroad, recent data have shown that there are about 71,000 Nigerian students in Ghana paying about N155 billion annually as tuition fees as against the annual budget of N121 billion for all federal universities. “In other words, the tuition paid by Nigerian students studying in Ghana with a better organised system is more than the annual budget of all federal universities in the country,” adding that “Nigeria is today placed third on the list of countries with the highest number of students studying overseas”. Na today. Come to think of it, is it by force to work for Chinese or Indian firms? Just like police men that complain about their job everyday, am sure they know about the police job b4 they decided to take the job, China and Indian companies are trash, only retarded and lazy fools would work for a Chinese firm. If you finally make up your mind to work for these people abeg DONT COMPLAIN. If you dont like the job just quit |
As far as I know, Shell is as criminally minded as these small boys they call oil thieves. Shell has done more harm than good to our dear country which is why Ghana has refused to let them drill oil in Ghana. The earlier we get rid of this silly British/Dutch company the better for all of all. Does shell give accurate account of ALL THE OIL they drill in Nigeria, the answer is NOOOOO. Shell can drill 500,000 barrels of oil daily and give account of only 300,000. Since we have spent billions of dollars on refineries and yet they still don't work, why not legalize these boys to work legitimately for the government? |
I do not have qualms with any church that decides to build a standard university, but for Gods sake let them make these church universities affordable to ordinary citizens of this country. |
I do not doubt that there are still real men of God, but the number of fake prophets in Black Africa today is just too alarming. manchy7531:Ghana is a sick country, the people behave like black Americans, no culture, no manners or family values. The most popular website in Ghana is WWW.CASUALPHORUM.COM and it is Bleep rated site, just browse the site for few minutes and see for yourselves. On this website its normal for boys to phuck their own mothers or blood sisters and talk about it on casual phorum openly without registration or restriction. In Ghana it is very ok and competition for MOST girls to have children I am too busy and cannot waste my time to talk about the Ghanaian culture but from my experience and observations, over 80% of Ghanaians are bastards? This is neither a joke nor an insult. HOW DID I ARRIVE AT THIS FIGURE? I have 35 Ghanian friends, some are family friends, church members, business associates etc. Out of this number, 29 of them are bastards. Why is this so? Normally Ghanian men like to take advantage of their women or maybe the women enjoy being taken advantage of I dont know. This is what happens. A Ghana man dates a woman and gets her pregnant, once she puts to bed he will sack her and get another woman pregnant. The women are the worst offenders. An average Ghanian lady will make 4 children from 4 different men before she clocks 30 years old. At the end, there are millions of bastards everywhere without fathers. In Ghana the word BASTARD is irrelevant because if you want to use that word correctly almost every Ghanian will be a bastard. Ghana has the highest divorce rate in Africa. I know there's no culture or society that is perfect but our Ghanaian brothers and sisters should take am jeje knowing fully well this is Africa and we are supposed to be cultured. What annoys me most is the number of rappee cases that is reported in Ghana on daily bases. No single day passes by without you hearing of a 45 years old man rapping a 4 years old girl. Few days ago an innocent girl of 8 died after being rap.ed. 8-year old girl dies after being defiled: http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=221977&comment=0#com |
REPUBLIC of Ghana, whose President is Professor John Attah Mills, is a neighbouring country to Nigeria. It is one of the strongest members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) after Nigeria (the giant of Africa), with over 22 million population. Ghana, in recent times, has attracted the attention of international communities across the world as a result of the discovery of crude oil, her political stability, thriving democracy which has also made her president the toast speaker at international conferences across the world. Another side attraction as far as Ghana is concerned, is the adequate security of life and property-which to a large extent has inadvertently facilitated the influx of foreign investors to Ghana, which is responsible for the promotion of the country's consistent economic growth; resulting in the reduction of rate of unemployment in Ghana, against what is being experienced in her big brother country-Nigeria. As if that is not enough, Ghana's reputation in the world today-as one of the most peaceful countries in Africa has not only heightened the positive image of the country formerly known as Gold Coast, but has also encouraged the massive influx of foreigners across the globe, majority of which are Nigerians. Republic of Ghana's population statistics as of 2008 revealed that over one million Nigerians lives in Ghana while over 300 foreigners, mostly Nigerians, are serving different times in prisons for various offences such as kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child trafficking, etc. With the policy of ECOWAS, which encourages state members' citizens to travel to a member state to trade or reside without a visa, is apparently one of the reasons why different categories of Nigerian businessmen and women, artistes, actors, actresses, management consultants and students have relocated to Ghana for more clients and to savour the guarantee of lives and their properties, since kidnapping of Nigerian high profile personalities is now the order of the day. As simple as getting a resident permit in Ghana could be, after spending three months in the country, you would still be amazed at the rate of Nigerians who default. But the case is not as easy when it comes to securing accommodation, not to talk of the exorbitant rent demanded as soon as the landlord or agent deciphers you are a Nigerian. Often times, the exorbitant charges are not even the most scaring thing but the demand for three to four years rent payment-which is often asked to be paid in dollars in some regions like Accra, Kumasi, Koforidua and other high commercial valued cities in Ghana. Not escaping the traps of fake agents is another mistake a foreigner could not afford to make. The questions foreigners like me often ask on issues like this are; why is accommodation so expensive in these regions? Why is it more difficult for Nigerians to get accommodation? How can a foreigner get genuine real estate agents, amidst many dubious agents that flood the city of Accra? Though the answers to these questions are in the air, the lesson therein was learnt from mistakes victims have made over the years, which many people aspiring to travel to Ghana may learn from. The fact that Accra is the state capital of the Republic of Ghana where many events, business opportunities, top class personalities, tourists centers and great edifices are rooted, make it one of the reasons why there are more demands for accommodation, where few are available; which according to the law of economics results in the higher the cost. To decipher a genuine real estate agent requires that the person who claims to be an agent in question has a registered company, and also belongs to the body of his profession - which will go a long way in proving his level of integrity. Secondly, never pay any agent in advance without seeing the accommodation and obtaining a receipt for it . Another challenge peculiar to Nigerians in Ghana searching for accommodation is the low trust of Nigerians by landlords and real estate agents. According to a Nigerian, Mrs Funmi Opare, who is married to a Ghanaian pastor, ''many Ghanaian landlords and agents have had bitter experiences in leasing their properties to Nigerians in the past, and therefore regretted it; either through the mis-use of the properties, owing and leaving their country or state thereafter or not complying with the rules and regulations, which have made securing an accommodation a serious task for an average Nigerian.'' In the effort of this writer to confirm the groanings of some Nigerian students and workers living in Ghana, Mr Adeyemi Adeleke, an international officer for Global Education Counselling in Accra, Ghana said, ''we Nigerians here have been reaping from fruits of the bad deeds of other Nigerians to landlords and agents in the past, which have not only made it more difficult for us to get an accommodation , but also made it more expensive'' Asking if it is possible for one to disguise as non- Nigerian, he said, '' the minute you start speaking, they would decipher it in your accent and some would say it to your face right there that the landlord doesn't want a Nigerian.'' Mr Adeyemi, while stating his personal experience revealed how he secured a three bedroom flat. '' It wasn't a small task when I was seeking an accommodation and after getting one, I had to sign an agreement that I wouldn't be taking any other person in to stay with me, except my family.'' Speaking with another student, West, he said '' before I was given the one-room self contained, I was made to sign an agreement that I would not allow any person to live with me. In the agreement, my girlfriend is permitted to stay with me for a week while friends are permitted to stay for a couple of days. It can be frustrating though, having a room and not being able to take in a friend who doesn't have any'' he added. In a chat with one of the landlords, who is based in Canada, Mr Opare Atipaga, but has a mansion in Koforidua, he said he chose to make his house strictly available for Nigerian students because his house is near a popular university in that region, All Nations University. '' When I was looking for people to rent out my apartments to, what everybody told me was ''don't take in Nigerians'' and I asked them why? And they told me, ''those students are not disciplined, they wouldn't follow the rules'' and this reminds me of the year I left Ghana for Germany to school at the age of 24 and I am in my 50s now. When blacks were looking for accommodation, no whites took us in simply because they judged us by our colour and rumours they had heard about us. "But I can remember that the room I later got was full of blacks and amongst them were Nigerians and these Nigerians were good people. And since then I have promised myself that when I build a house, I will not judge people by their colour. The issue is this, if one black man messes up, he's the one that is meant to be thrown out - not all the blacks, not the innocent ones; and that is the order I gave my agent.'' In spite of all the challenges and apparent resistance, the influx of Nigerians into Ghana on a yearly basis still raises concern. http://odili.net/news/source/2011/oct/26/605.html |
From MURPHY GANAGANA, Abuja, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has revealed how a former state governor, who was arrested and arraigned for alleged misappropriation of public funds, parted with a whopping N3 billion to a syndicate of fraudsters in a bid to avert his trial. Three ex-governors, a senator and some members of the House of Representatives involved in cases handled by the anti-graft commission have also lost huge sums of money amounting to over N100 million in some instances to the same syndicate allegedly led by a high profile personality who, however, was not named. EFCC spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who declined revealing the identities of the four ex-governors and other victims of the syndicate, said yesterday that three suspects who claimed to be acting on behalf of some top officials of the agency in swindling their unsuspecting victims had been arrested, while detectives were on the trail of their leader. Babafemi, who gave the hint at the commission’s head office in Abuja while parading two other fraudsters including a young man of 22 years, expressed shock on how a high profile victim of one of the suspects whose case had since been charged to court over a pension scam, doled out the sum of N50 million to one Alhaji Mohammed al-Amin, to halt his trial. Although Babafemi naming the accused person in the pension scam who was allegedly duped by al-Amin, the suspect eventually opened up and gave his name as Dr. Shuaibu Sani, who he claimed contacted him to assist in aborting his ongoing trial which had become a major hitch to the realisation of his gubernatorial ambition in Kogi State. “This man embezzled pension funds in Nigeria. I don’t know him before. He called me and said he is a governorship aspirant in Kogi State; he is in court now. He is Dr. Shuaibu Sani. He came to me in Kaduna in company with one of my neighbours and told me he had spent over N100 million on his gubernatorial ambition and the party primaries is not being held, and that I should help him. He wanted somebody to link him up, that the Kogi State governor already has a candidate of his choice who had compiled a dossier on him and sent to the EFCC. That was how the incident happened,” al-Amin said in his response to reporters’ questions. Shortly thereafter, a mild drama played out as the suspect exchanged hot words with the EFCC spokesman over the circumstances surrounding his involvement in an auction scam for which he was also being investigated by the anti-corruption agency. Al-Amin, described by Babafemi as a super fraudster who at various times had claimed to be a blood relation of powerful personalities in the country including the late president Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, vehemently denied the allegation but said he was close to Vice President Namadi Sambo, whose wife he claimed, was his student in 2004. The suspect allegedly claimed having close ties with the Sambos in an attempt to swindle some politicians in Kaduna. He was said to have offered to assist them in securing auction bids at the EFCC when there was no such exercise going on in the agency. But in his account of how he got involved in the botched deal, al-Amin claimed he had approached the vice president for assistance on the issue and was later called on telephone by his (Sambo’s) wife, who sought to know if an auction was actually going on at the EFCC. “Some group of politicians in Kaduna came to me and said they had assisted during the Goodluck Jonathan/Sambo election campaign, and wanted something like auction in the EFCC. So, I went to the vice president and told him that these people need your help. Later, after two days, the wife of the vice president called me and told me that the Chairman of the EFCC, Mrs. Farida was going to call me and she called me there and then. She (Farida) told me, you said there is auction in my EFCC, there is no auction; I told her I didn’t say there is action going on; that these people came to me and said an auction was in the offing, that they have registered and completed all the due process. So she said I should text her the name of the company, that if it is true that it is registered and had followed all the due process and is lucky, it will get. I didn’t call Farida; why should you say I called her,” he querried. Al-amin, however, insisted that he had maintained a close relationship with vice president Sambo over a long period and indeed, taught his wife before he became governor of Kaduna State and later, the number two man in the country. His words: “I know the vice president. I have been teaching Namadi Sambo’s wife from 2004 before he became governor, before he became vice president and I have nothing to do. I taught her in a school called Adis-Adis Koran. Go and see my house; my house is less than N5 million, it is not even my house. It is a house we inherited; we are two. But I had never said I am one of the Yar’Aduas, or that I am their cousin.” Also yesterday, the EFCC paraded 22-year-old Mr. Fidelis Tule, a Tiv from Benue State, who allegedly attempted to defraud two unnamed persons of N18,000 each, on the pretext of securing employment for them at the anti-graft commission. Babafemi said in his bid to convince his victims, the suspect who was in possession of a fake EFCC staff identity card bearing his name and the rank of a Senior Crime Officer 3, had printed employment forms which he claimed, were issued by the commission. |
The case to stop Shell from entering Ghana’s Jubilee field is premised on facts. Shell has been known of their dirty operations in the Niger Delta since the 1950s. Their diabolic acts in the Niger Delta are increasingly being exposed with each passing day. Their worries are on the ascendancy. Communities in the Niger Delta are swiftly demanding justice at the court of law for decades of damages. Shell’s never-ending atrocities meted out to communities in the Niger Delta will continue to make them irresponsible. On 3 August 2011, Shell admitted responsibility to 2 major oil spills in Bodo after a lawsuit was filed against the oil giant in the High Court in London. Shell now faces a compensation claim of $410 million and could be forced to clean up extensive environmental damage. In the same week, the Environmental Assessment Report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) implicated Shell in massive oil spills and pollution and has recommended an initial fund of $1 billion to start the clean up process in Ogoni. Report by Platform, a UK-based education and research non-governmental organization, titled “Counting the costs: corporations and human rights abuses in the Niger Delta”, indicates roles Shell played in human rights abuses committed by Nigerian government forces and other armed groups between 2000 and 2010. Shell had a hand in a civil war in Rumuekpe that occurred between 2005 and 2008 killing least 60 people, including women and children. In another fresh law suit, a 32-page civil complaint has been filed Tuesday October 18 at the federal court in Detroit, Michigan against Shell. The suit, according to AFP news on 21 October, was brought on behalf of the people of Ogale in the Eleme local government area, where the UN team found the most serious groundwater contamination and people drinking water laced with cancer-causing benzene at 900 times World Health Organization guidelines. The lawsuit by filed by King Emere Godwin Bebe Okpabi and four other tribal leaders in a US court is seeking $1 billion from Royal Dutch Shell to compensate for decades of pollution that sickened his people and damaged their lands. The plaintiffs indicate that Shell's "indiscriminant pollution" has created "severe health hazards" that threatened their lives and violated their right to development. There is no denying the fact that Shell has left a dreadful legacy in the Niger Delta. They pumped oil in communities that languished abject poverty. In a culture of impunity, Shell repatriated billions of dollars of oil revenues. This did not end there. Shell manipulated 8 villages to fight against one another killing several innocent people. Shell being reluctant is yet to start the clean-up of oil spills. This is an act of insensitivity and irresponsibility. This is the track record Shell intends to bring to bear in the country. It would simply be disastrous, in the midst of these glaring dishonorable acts, for Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Parliament and the government of Ghana to sanction a ‘convict’ to operate in the Jubilee field. I can with outright confidence predict that Shell would be an albatross hanging around the neck of Ghana if they are allowed to explore oil. Shell is capable of exacting huge environmental, social and economic costs on the economy of Ghana. Shell should be prevented from entering the oil industry. Shell’s battered corporate image is most undeserving for exploration in the Jubilee field. GNPC and government of Ghana must drive Shell out of the Jubilee field. Shell should exhibit a sense of responsibility by cleaning up the mess they caused in the Niger Delta. The people in the Ogoniland deserve better living conditions.
