Like some said, its either some of you are plain mischievious or completely ignorant. May be high on something.

For those of us who know, its pointless to compare projects even if their scope is exactly the same. Even a pot of stew is not worth the same thing in different parts of Naija talk more of another country.

I worked on a trasnmission line project in Akwa Ibom, the cost of the project was just over N2billion while compensation of property and land owners was N6billion. If the same line were to be constrcuted in Sokoto, the cost might have still been less than N3billion but over N8billion in Akwa ibom. Take that project to lagos metro and it might become N30billion, how can one compare.

Lagos is a state in Nigeria with less than 3 billion yearly budget that's not even enough to start or complete such massive project at once while UAE is a sovereign country with hundreds of billions of sovereign wealth and oil money to start and complete with zero money issue.

Even with all their money, it still took them 8years to complete.

Lagos metro started in 2012 so show us anywhere in the world where they completed a 27 km metro with 54km 10 lane freeway, BRT, stations, over head bridges, 5km metro bridge over any lagoon and power station in less than 4 years.

Don't try because i know you can not.

That was a roadside, layman and elementary comparison from top to botom.

You just making no sense..... I live in Dubai and I have lived in lagos.... and I tell u 10 years ago most of Dubai was a desert.... you can enlighten yourself if u take ur time to do more research...

It's with anger and frustration am using to write this so pls bear with the typos


I opened an account with Fcmb on 31st May 2016 based on recommendation from a colleague who used his atm card for transactions in Dubai.

I was told by fcmb customer service team that I would have my card activated for the period of time I would use in dubai(short visit)

Fcmb also notified me that I would be charged 240(two hundred and forty)naira as service charge per transaction. Which I thought was ok.

Now I'm in Dubai, I was unable to withdraw yesterday. After countless efforts to use the machine, I resolved to using Pos.

I bought some things worth 930dhs and paid using Pos. Note that exchange rate is 94 naira to 1 dhm.

Instead of 87000, I was debited 97000 naira

That's 10,000 naira charge compared to 240 naira I was told.

I have sent a mail to them but no reasonable response yet from Fcmb.
Now I'm even more scared to use my card cos I do not know the amount I would be charged again and it's making me stranded .

Please am using this as a means of reaching fcmb cos I cannot over emphasize on the power of social media.

FCMB should tell me why I would be charged 10,000naira as opposed 240 naira for a Pos transaction.

As much as I disagreed with the poster, Omo Onile (Community Affairs) is always included in the budget for any construction work.

On the topic, the OP's post is without any base nor fact as it's improper to compare construction cost of a project in two different geopolitical zones. Features will definitely differ. Soil nature, site terrain, economic situation, minimum wage, side features (flyover, pedestrian bridge, stops, underpass, lighting... etc)...

In conclusion, I think the OP is high on some expired weeds and needs to be rehabilitated.

Now check this out.... it cost UAE $7billion to construct a world class metro line of over 74km. And with 49 stations and 79 five car trains each fully automated(no driver)
And note that here in dubai the terrain is sandy (desert) so it's more expensive to build on it..... also some of the stations are underground and all stations are fully air conditioned.

Now compare that with what the Lagos state govt is struggling to achieve and you will see that the op isn't high but only being a concerned citizen who wants to know why?

Possible thing that can change the cost of such project significantly is the terrain. Lagos is a swampy area and any construction project is likely to cost more than conventional. Also the population that will use it determines the quality of things or will you want to waste millions for it to fail so soon?

So I decided to opt out and I went to Hostgators and this time I went for cloud hosting which is 2 times faster than the conventional shared hosting.....

So my advice is change your hosting and instead of using shared hosting go for cloud hosting. You wont regret it
