It was gathered that 22 Boko Haram terrorists were killed and three commanders arrested, as the troops invaded over 10 suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts along the Nigeria-Cameroon borders. This was contained in a statement by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the acting director Army public relations, and made available to NAIJ.com. The statement reads: “Troops of 152 and 155 Task Force Battalions at Operation LAFIYA DOLE in conjunction with troops of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) from Cameroon, conducted a massive joint clearance operation of suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Monday, April 11, along Nigeria-Cameroon borders. “The unprecedented clearance operation swept through over 10 suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts along the border in which they killed 22 terrorists, arrested three commanders and rescued abducted persons. “During the operation the troops cleared Nbaga, Bula, Dabube, Ybiri, Greya and Suduwa towns and other adjoining settlements. The towns and settlements were occupied by suspected fleeing Boko Haram terrorists who escaped from villages previously cleared by troops of the Nigerian Army. “The apprehended terrorists’ commanders include Lawal Abba, Mallam Hisna and Mallam Gana in Shatte, Bulla Jaja and Bula Burra towns. “The troops also rescued 1,275 persons held hostage by the terrorists. The rescued persons are being administered and screened by 152 Taskforce Battalion pending onward movement to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp. “It is gratifying to note that the operation was a huge success as there was no casualty or injury on the troops.” https://www.naij.com/796543-troops-kill-22-boko-haram-terrorists-arrest-3-commanders-photos.html?source=index_main See photos below:

– Governors of Imo and Abia states blame miscreants for death of Hausa-Fulani herdsmen – The pair meet to hold joint security meeting – Vow to fish out perpetrators, to keep ensuring security of lives and properties Facts have emerged on how miscreants killed the five Hausa-Fulani herdsmen who reportedly died in a forest along the borders of Imo and Abia states. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), this revelation was made by Governors Rochas Okorocha and Okezie Ipkeazu of Imo and Abia states respectively when they held a joint security council meeting in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Monday, April 11. In his argument, Okorocha stated that the miscreants were not out to attack any ethnic group as two Igbos lost their lives in the attack as well. This clarification by the governors came on the heels of the security operatives’ discovery of a mass grave where Hausa-Fulani residents abducted and murdered by suspected members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) were buried in Abia State. Ikpeazu on his part, believes that kidnapping had become a recurring decimal in the area, adding “We condemn the killings as it concerns the five Fulani men that were abducted and assassinated in a forest. “And we are all united in the fact that the particular forest and such other forests will be rid of criminals that use them as hideouts.” Speaking further, he said: “It is our responsibility to protect lives and property of people that reside in Abia, as security agencies of both states have been mandated to cross the borders of both states to hunt down criminals.” Okorocha also vowed to deal with the culprits of the killings, saying: “On the issue of the killing of five Fulani men that has caused tension, the culprits have been arrested and will be dealt with under the law as well as made to pay the ultimate price. “Information reaching us reveal that it is not just five Fulani men as there are two corpses believed to be Igbos from the area, so it is not a direct attack on any ethnic group.” Meanwhile, a group under the aegis of the Conference of Minority Tribes of Nigeria (CMTN) on Monday, April 11, called on the Nigerian government to hold all leaders of IPOB responsible for killings of Hausa-Fulani in Abia state. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the secretary general of the group, Samson Babalola said the killings of five northern Nigerians as alleged by the Department of State Services (DSS), is a crime against humanity. Describing the killings as a ‘blow below the belt’ incident threatening the cordial relationship between ethnic nationals in Nigeria, Babalola said the group is set to drag the leadership of the IPOB to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the alleged killings by the group. https://www.naij.com/795798-okorocha-ikpeazu-reveal-killers-hausa-fulani-herdsmen-forest.html?source=index_main |

The Civilian JTF members have foiled a massive Boko Haram attack on Maiduguri, Borno state capital on April 8, Friday. The four suicide attackers on a suicide mission were killed near Jimini village in Jere LGA area on the outskirts of state’s capital this morning. Some JTF on guard spotted four teenagers wandering and asked them to raise up their hands but they denied and kept heading towards the vigilantes who murdered them. A vigilant who revealed this to the journalists, said the teens wrapped improvised explosive devices around their bellies in an attempt to wreak havoc on Maiduguri. “Four suicide bombers were sighted coming from the nearby bush at about 5:15am this morning but their plot to wreak havoc on the residents of Maiduguri was averted by our gallant Civilian JTF members stationed at the outskirts of Maiduguri. They were all shot dead, and none of them escaped,” he said. In March, a Nigerian girl was arrested with explosives strapped to her body in Cameroon, near the Nigerian border. She set off a short scandal when she said she was one of the Chibok girls, but Nigerian officials and Chibok parents denied her claim. – N5,000 monthly stipend to cost Nigeria about $300million annually – Presidency refuses to state how funding would be sourced Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that the federal government will pay poor and unemployed Nigerians about $25 (N5,000) every month. The monthly pay for the poor and unemployed Nigerians had generated a lot of issues among Nigerians who thought the presidency had been dishonest with the promise to the Nigerian populace. But, in a statement issued by Professor Osinbanjo on Thursday, April 8, the Nigerian government plans to make cash payments to poor people as a way of easing poverty and to stimulate the economy. According to Reuters, Osinbajo said: “One million poor and vulnerable Nigerians would receive 5,000 naira ($25) monthly,” adding that the plan (which is part of the country’s priorities for the next 12 months) would cost a total of about $300 million per annum. According to the statement, the Nigerian government will employ 500,000 graduates as voluntary teachers before they get employment in their chosen careers, refusing however, to state how these benefits would be funded. Osinbajo stated instead that there’s a part of the N6.06 trillion record budget for 2016 which parliament passed last month, waiting for President Buhari’s signature. Meanwhile, Dayo Saka-Fafunmi, a lawmaker in the Lagos state House of Assembly has said that the economic situation and the falling price of crude oil is the reason President Buhari cannot pay the N5, 000 he promised unemployed youths. In a recent interview with NAIJ.com, the lawmaker representing Ifako-Ijaye consistency 1 applauded the president for coming out to tell Nigerians the truth. https://www.naij.com/792285-presidency-reveals-much-buhari-will-pay-poor-unemployed-nigerians.html?source=index_main |
Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been asked to vacate the institution’s Akoka, Yaba campus with immediate effect. NAIJ.com’s checks in the institution revealed that some students had protested the incessant power outage in the school and poor power supply and had moved to meet with the management on Thursday, April 7, with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis. But rather than proffer a solution to the issues raised by the students, the management of the institution, rising from an emergency meeting on Thursday, ordered the students out of the institution while other activities in the school continues. Presidency has finally received the comprehensive details of 2016 national budget on April 7, Thursday. Chief of Staff to President Buhari Abba Kyari has got budget from Senior Special Assistant to President on National Assembly matters Senator Eta Enang and Hon. Kawu Ismaila in Statehouse. Buhari laid the document before a joint sitting of the National Assembly on December 22 last year. But shortly after that the appropriation bill became involved in controversy due the inconsistencies, errors, omissions and padding of figures. This caused the resignation of the budget director and many of his staff by the President. After about two months postponement the two chambers of the National Assembly passed the budget on March 23 and sent it to Buhari the next day for his approval. However, the presidency official later said what was sent were the budget highlights and that the leader of the nation would not assent to it until the details were returned to him. President Buhari said there were suspicions the legislators were tinkering with the budget and that he would study the details very well before appending his asset. The NASS finally sent the details of the budget on April 6, Wednesday. https://www.naij.com/791574-just-presidency-receives-details-2016-budget.html?source=breaking

oneal10:The bill is targeted at banning the use of loudspeakers for religious purposes “other than inside a Mosque or Church and the surrounding areas outside the stipulated prayer times.” https://www.naij.com/738574-el-rufai-takes-drastic-action-religious-preaching-kaduna-state.html |
I think this religious bill is supposed to be done in all states in Nigeria.. I listened to Channels tv dis midnight and it was Gov El-Rufai that had a media chat with three channels presenters (Chamberlain Usoh, Maupe Ogun and Suleiman Aledeh). Gov El-Rufai stated d reasons for dis bill and bcuz of these reasons, I think the Religious bill is a thing worth doing. To me, the bill is more targeted to Religious extremists.. Those people that are saying it is Anti-Christian are people staying outside Kaduna state, they do not know about how things are going in Kaduna state. Gov El-Rufai so said many religious violence that normally happen in d state is caused by fake prophets and clerics. He talked about one woman who claimed to be seeing and talking with d Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) and she cant even recite Surat Al-Fatiha of d holy Quran. He talked about many extremist groups that have been formed in Kaduna state and he also talked about d Shiites and how dey are committing a lot of atrocities in Kaduna state. He said It's d Christian association of Nigeria or Muslim association that will render any pastor or cleric eligible of preaching b4 d state govt will give them license and d license will be renewed yearly. This religious bill will reduce d number of fake prophets and clerics in d state and it will even stop religious violence bcuz no body or group will be allowed to play Religious cassette or audio that are saying negative things about other religions and also, there are places where these cassettes or audios can be played. U can't just play it anywhere to disturb people. With these reasons, I will implore d state house of Assembly to pass d bill and I will like other governors to emulate Governor El-Rufai in that aspect.

– Apostle Johnson Suleman has maintained that El-Rufai will die – El-Rufai has also asked the man of God to tell him the day he will die -El-Rufai is seeking a law that will ban preaching in the state unless such a preacher obtains permission from the government. Nasir El-Rufai’s troubles are far from over as Apostle Johnson Suleman has once again predicted that the Kaduna state governor will die if he fails to drop the anti-preaching bill he is proposing. El-Rufai is seeking a law that will ban preaching in the state unless such a preacher obtains permission from the government. The bill has been termed anti-Christian in some quarters with several Christian clergymen speaking against the bill. But in an attempt to give the bill a non-anti-Christian face, the governor yesterday, April 5 said a new deadly Islamic group Gausiyya that may be worse than the Boko Haram sect is emerging in Kaduna state. Recall that Apostle Suleman had in a recent message warned the governor not to pass the ‘license for preaching in Kaduna State’ into law or he would die. But in a new video message seen by Daily post, the preacher described the governor as ‘Herod of Kaduna’ adding that he had no apology over his earlier prophecy. “His days are numbered. It has started with slap, watch out for what will happen. I am not a rabble rouser, neither am I running my mouth. In the 1999 constitution, chapter four under the fundamental human rights, section 38; it says that: every one has the freedom of thoughts, conscience and opinion and they are very free to exercise their religion either in a community, in public or in private. In public means putting the speaker anywhere. “That means he is going against the nation. He is going against the constitution. The Herod said he did it in Abuja and nothing happened. He entered a Christian community in Kaduna and demolished the place and nothing happened. If I be a man of God, the Herod of Kaduna will die,” he warned. El-Rufai has also asked the man of God to tell him the day he will die. https://www.naij.com/789922-el-rufai-herod-kaduna-will-die-apostle-johnson-suleman.html?source=index_main

– Some fuel stations have been selling to black marketers who resell at a higher price – The RRS in Lagos arrested the mananger of a filling station. In a bid to salvage the situation caused by unavailability of fuel, the Rapid Response Squad of the police division arrested managers of filling station hoarding fuel. The unavailability of fuel has affected the country but black marketers in conjunction with managers of filling station have been making things harder by selling at high prices. The filling stations would sell to the black marketers who in turn will sell to buyers at a higher cost. Tunji Disu who is the commander of the RRS ordered the arrest of the manager of a filling station in Otedola/Omole along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on Tuesday April 05. Meanwhile, 10 fuel hawkers were arrested by the Lagos state task force. The men were arrested in the Oshodi and Ikeja areas for allegedly obstructing traffic. Eight jerrycans of fuel were impounded from the suspects. It was reported that 25 suspects were initially arrested by the task force, but after screening, 15 suspects, including 10 fuel hawkers, were found culpable. https://www.naij.com/789165-see-rrs-filling-station-manager-hoarding-fuel-photos.html?source=index_main

– Oyo governor has said he will adopt a no- work, no pay strategy should workers go on strike in the state – Ajimobi said ultimatum issued by Labour is not only surprising but unnecessary and uncalled-for in the prevailing circumstances – Traditional rulers have begged the organized labour to dialogue with the governor In what could be described as I-don’t-care- attitude, Oyo state governor Abiola Ajimobi has said he is not deterred by the strike threat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), vowing that any worker who goes on strike will not be paid. He said ultimatum issued by Labour is not only surprising but unnecessary and uncalled-for in the prevailing circumstances. He urged the labour leaders to negotiate with the government, vowing that any worker who goes on strike without following due process will not be paid. The flamboyant governor equally said he is not ready and will not review the 90 per cent income dedicated for the payment of workers salary from the Federation Account. According to him, government cannot pay 62,000 workers with the money that ought to be used to maintain over 10 million citizens. “Modern day labour union and government relationship has listed steps that must be taken. Step one is if you have any concern about anything, there is a joint negotiation committee that is made up of government and workers, you first go there to discuss with them. “If after the discussion it does not work then you can go to the next level where the head of service and government will now appoint some people to discuss. It is when negotiations have broken down that labour can give notice of strike and not this old time labour government relationship where without discussing you will issue ultimatum to go on strike. “It is illegal because this is a government where law must be followed and obeyed, not this culture of impunity. It is wrong to give an ultimatum to go on strike without reaching a consensus with the government. “We have an agreement, there was a time we use to get close to N5 billion from the Federal Government and our IGR was like N1 billion, now everybody is aware of the situation, and now we are having N2 billion plus from Federal Government,” he was quoted by Nation newspaper. Also, traditional rulers in the state have begged the labour leaders not to go on strike. The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, said labour should be considerate and embrace the government’s conditions while the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, said: “The government has tried his best allocating 90 per cent of the federal allocation to pay the worker’s salary. The labour leaders only need to be patient and considerate.” Recall that another APC governor, the embattled Kaduna state governor, Nasir El- Rufai has gotten into another trouble as organized labour in the state are set to shut down all activities in the state following his alleged anti-workers policies and excesses. https://www.naij.com/788493-shocking-apc-governor-vows-not-pay-workers-salary.html?source=index_main
