How Fragmented Is Somalia - and Why Does Somaliland Insist on Independence? Somalia was formed by unifying territories formerly controlled by the British Empire with areas previously ruled by Italy, all inhabited by ethnic Somali populations. The society is deeply tribal. Each tribe maintains its own ideology and a distinctly different way of life. The Issa tribe, which dominates Somaliland, is considerably more pragmatic and rejects radical Islam, whereas other tribes actively embrace it. Since the outbreak of Somalia’s civil war in 1991, the state has effectively disintegrated into competing tribes locked in continuous conflict. The Issa tribe declared the independence of the State of Somaliland and proceeded to establish functioning state institutions and government ministries, a multi-party democratic system, and levels of corruption far lower than those typically seen in Africa - certainly far lower than those of the dysfunctional government in the capital, Mogadishu. The people of Somaliland have succeeded in insulating themselves from the civil war, famine, and chronic instability that characterize the rest of Somalia. They have built an economy based on agriculture, fishing, light industry, and trade. Consequently, they have no incentive to reintegrate into a larger, bleeding, and non-functioning Somali state. The different colors on the map reflect the fragmentation caused by the civil war: • Peach-pink areas: Territories controlled by the federal government, including the capital, Mogadishu. • Fuchsia-pink areas: The autonomous Puntland administration. • Gray areas: Territories controlled by al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda affiliate. • Black area in northern Puntland: Territory controlled by a local militia affiliated with ISIS. • Mustard-yellow area: Territory controlled by the government of Somaliland. Somaliland - formerly a British colony - is, in practice, larger than the territory currently under the effective control of its government. While the government claims sovereignty over eastern Somaliland as part of its lawful territory, it does not presently exercise control there. It is possible that one form of assistance the Somaliland government may seek from Israel is military support to reclaim the eastern part of the country and enforce its sovereignty over it. The capital, Hargeisa, is located on the inland plateau at an elevation of 1,611 meters above sea level. The principal port city, of significant strategic value, is Berbera. Colombia, which since the outbreak of the war has issued an endless stream of condemnations against Israel, has signed a major deal with ISRAEL Aerospace Industries. The country is purchasing the Barak MX air-defense system as part of a deal worth approximately $130 million that was signed previously. The system includes advanced radars and command-and-control centers and will enable the interception of aircraft, UAVs, and missiles at various ranges. The batteries are expected to be delivered by 2026, with the entire system reaching full operational capability by 2032.

Within my lifetime, I have witnessed Turkey’s transformation from a close ally into a state whose leading newspapers openly describe Israel as the “number one enemy” and speak of war. This is nothing short of remarkable and serves as yet another confirmation that the Bible is far more precise and reliable than any news outlet or defense analyst. Amir T |
BREAKING: Many Americans are calling on the US to LEAVE the United Nations after Somalia will be made "president" of the UN Security Council on Jan. 1st Un-freaking-believable. A country that can't even maintain its own security will be "president" of a worldwide Security Council? Thankfully, it only lasts one month. (Eric Daugherty)

21 Arab and Islamic countries in a joint statement: "They absolutely reject Israel's recognition of Somalia, in light of the severe consequences of this unprecedented step on peace and security in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and its serious effects on international peace and security. They strongly condemn this recognition, which constitutes a serious violation of the principles of international law and the UN Charter." |
A Turkish commentator on Arab television: “We will reconquer Jerusalem.” Turkish commentator Bekir Atçan, speaking in an interview with the Al-Mashhad network, issued direct threats against Israel. He said that while Israelis may have refused to accept Turkish forces as a peacekeeping presence in Gaza, “they haven’t seen anything yet.” Atçan went on to claim that the Turkish military would attack Israel and conquer Jerusalem. He further asserted that Jews had previously arrived in the region as immigrants only after having “bowed down” to the Turks, asking rhetorically, “Where will they run now? They came to us submissive.” When the host challenged him on whether he stood by his remarks, Atçan responded: “Yes, with Allah’s help—and it will happen very soon.” (Turkey Today)

This is how an ISRAELI cabinet minister responded to Qatar’s condemnation of Israel’s recognition of Somaliland. Epic.

Zohran Mamdani Appoints Lillian Bonsignore as New FDNY Commissioner “ Although she never served as a firefighter, she's confident that won't matter …Bonsignore is a trailblazer for the LGBTQ community who will serve as the FDNY's first openly gay commissioner.” How did that work for Los Angeles we all know…

Two key elements stand out in ISRAEL'S decision to recognize Somaliland’s independence: Turkey and the Houthis. ISRAEL'S move is nothing short of a direct message to Erdoğan, at a time when tensions between Jerusalem and Ankara are clearly approaching a peak. In recent years, Turkey has dramatically expanded its ties with Somalia, including deep military cooperation, and has even established a military port there. Israel’s decision signals to Erdoğan that the rivalry with Israel is not only intensifying, but also expanding geographically—after Syria and Gaza, now Somaliland as well. The second element is the Houthis. While this scenario may still seem distant, Somaliland could prove to be an extremely valuable platform for shortening operational distances to Yemen, both militarily and in terms of intelligence capabilities. |
Somaliland has been de facto independent since 1991, maintaining ties with the United States, Taiwan, the UAE, Ethiopia, and a range of African and European countries. ISRAEL has now become the first UN member state to officially recognize Somaliland as an independent country. This rapprochement is being pursued under U.S. auspices as part of the Abraham Accords framework. While discussions about resettling Gaza residents there are unlikely to yield any substantive outcome, Somaliland stands to gain potential American recognition and access to Israeli technologies across multiple sectors. ISRAEL, in turn, gains a strategic foothold near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, strengthens its posture against the Houthis and expanding Turkish influence in the region, deepens cooperation with the UAE, Ethiopia, and Taiwan, and secures another meaningful asset on the geopolitical chessboard. |

ISRAEL is the only UN member that recognized Somaliland’s sovereignty. Why is it done less than 24 hours prior to Netanyahu’s flight to meet with President Trump? A huge hint- it is related to Gaza. The deal is this: recognition in exchange for absorbing a significant number of evacuees from Gaza as part of Trump’s plan. |

Erdogan is under pressure - and begins to respond to Israel's regional moves: Reports indicate that during Erdogan's upcoming visit to Tehran, he will try to convince Ayatollah Khamenei to renew ties with the new Syrian government. In return, Turkey will deploy radars inside Syrian territory that will allow Iran to detect Israeli strikes. Such radars already existed but were destroyed by Israel after Bashar al-Assad's fall. Another key issue to be raised at the meeting, according to the report, is Turkey's support for Azerbaijan. According to various sources, Azerbaijan participated in Israeli strikes in Iran during the 12-day war. As we have already repeatedly said, we must be very, very careful that our northern border with Syria does not become a border with Erdogan. (Zvi Yehezkeli) |
These are the five major blows Turkey has absorbed from Israel over the past two weeks - at the direct strategic level: 1. Syria, President Erdoğan’s flagship regional project, remains unstable. Kurdish unrest continues, enabled in part by Israeli support for the Druze, further undermining Turkish ambitions there. 2. Egypt has signed a major gas deal with Israel, creating a rift within the Muslim world between Ankara and Cairo. This agreement also significantly strengthens Israel’s position as a regional energy player. 3. Greece and Cyprus are deepening their ties with Israel, reinforcing Israel’s growing role in Mediterranean energy and maritime trade. 4. Relations with Azerbaijan are warming, marked by the opening of a new innovation center through cooperation between Israel Aerospace Industries and Baku. Azerbaijan serves as a critical strategic lever vis-à-vis Turkey. 5. Germany—the most powerful country in the European Union - has entered a landmark Arrow-3 missile deal with Israel. This provides Israel with leverage over Turkey within NATO and strengthens Israel’s standing within the EU itself. These two weeks reflect a clear pattern: Israel is strategically encircling Turkey. This is what victory looks like - establishing dominance across energy, industry, military capability, and economic influence. (Topaz Ram) |
