Thank you so much mimilyrics: 1. It's okay to state them as your financial dependants. It doesn't matter whether your husband answers yes too since you're both financially responsible for them.
2. There's no hard and fast rule about this. Depends on you. UKVI rarely calls the main applicant before granting dependant visas except there's something that can't be clarified via email. My advice will be stay in the UK till they've got their visas since your going to Nigeria wouldn't have any impact on the decision outcomes or timelines. |

Thanks for your response LagosismyHome: If you have dependent even if they are not going now . Make sure they are mentioned if asked..... either you or your husband can be financially responsible. UK don't specify whic all they ask is one of you must meet the financial requirements and have it in an account for at least 28 days
2. Why stress yourself coming to Nigeria. They can apply in Nigeria when you are in the UK....then they fly in without you while you meet them at the airport. But if you have money you can fly into nigeria after they get the visa and u all fly back but I don't see why your husband cannot handle the travel himself |

Please help a sister Risazii: Good day nairalanders, thanks to all who have been contributing here for free. I have a few questions please;
1. I am the main applicant and will be going to settle in first before my husband and kids. Is it okay to answer that I am financially responsible for my kids since all the funds are in my account or I should say 'no' and let my husband respond in the affirmative on his own form? What is the implication of not mentioning them in my application
2. Can I come back to Nigeria when they are set to apply for their visas so we can all travel together or I have to be in the UK when a decision is being made on their applications?
Thank you in advance |

I hope it gets resolved soon dejol88: We are in same situation. Someone said that due to COVID 19, a lot of staff have been furlough and some are working from home reason for the delay. However, we need to sustain the pressure on them to do whatever it takes to speed up the process. I will keep knocking at their door for them to open. |

Good day all, please is there anyone here going to Northumbria Uni Newcastle campus for PhD that has gotten CAS? I am getting frustrated with the response they keep sending whenever I ask, see below;
"We are currently reviewing our CAS process in light of the ongoing Covid situation and are therefore not in a position to issue you with a CAS yet.
We will be back in touch with further instructions as soon as possible." |

Ok thanks for this info, let me check Cigbojugha: You need to search you mail for it. Check all folders and if possible use the search icon.
According to them, you answer to that question and their constant monitoring of the TAT of visa issuance will help them know when to issue you CAS after you meet all CAS requirements.
Start date for September intake is 28 September and may not extend it but they have created a transition period even till November to enable you travel but you will still need to first enroll online if you are unable yo travel before the start date. |

Oh no I haven't. I saw on the website that they would send a questionnaire when you request for the CAS to be sent but they didn't email me any questionnaire when I sent them a mail Cigbojugha: Have you picked a transition date. They need this to know when best to issue you CAS |

Funnily Northumbria uni have issued CAS to some people even on this platform, I don't understand the delay. We will wait for them, I hope they send it soon though Flezi1: From my findings Northumbria University always delay CAS, same for Coventry. I reached out to Northumbria (London) I was told they are looking at issuing CAS from on the 17th of August. You can imagine, when other schools have been issuing since July. |

I thought I was the only one with this problem. They sent me an email this evening saying because of Covid they will not be able to issue my CAS just yet. I paid my deposit since last year but the issue was I had to differ so the old CAS has expired. Northumbria uni too Flezi1: . I paid since March 2020. Already started online self. This is really surprising to me |

I appreciate this detailed explanation mimilyrics: While you'll be submitting your sponsorship letter, your dependant will need to submit his/her bank statement or yours showing that the money has been held for 28 days (in your account or his/her account) before their application. This is based on the assumption that your sponsorship doesn't include them since you didn't confirm that it does.
To make it simpler for you, put the funds that they require into the account to be used, count 28 days from the day after the total required is in your account, and on the 29th day, submit your application.
After submitting, print the statement for the 28 days before your application submission and upload to the document submission portal along with other documents. You can include the 29th day in your statement to avoid counting errors on your part. The Oanda rate for the day you submit will be used to convert your funds to £. |

Thanks a lot for your prompt response, but it's the 28 days I am confused about. mimilyrics: Your sponsorship letter must state that the sponsorship covers your tuition plus maintenance and your dependants' maintenance for the duration of your course. If your sponsorship letter doesn't state this, you'll have to show the maintenance requirements for your dependants in your account or your dependants' accounts. |

Thanks for the advice, my situation is a bit complicated because when I will be ready to come for the kids my husband will not be allowed to leave work that's why he will be applying with me. mamacajah: There is no problem with applying first for you and your husband. At that point, you will say no, the children are not following at this time..When you are ready to bring them over, you apply for them as dependents as at that time.
However, if your husband is not planning to stay with you, why is he applying at a dependent at this time? I would advise he applies as a dependent when you are ready for the children to come over. That's my 2 cent oh.. the choice is ultimately yours... Every one knows their plans and strengths on this journey..there is no one standard way in planning because people's circumstance differs. Hence why I gave the above counsel...
Because of the initial stress of settling down and navigating the waters of home and school, I would usually advise, where possible, the student comes ahead and when settled, then apply for the family members. However, if not, then plan either a partial move or total move. taking dependents to UK is big money oh. .any time I think of the money ehn, I have to remind myself of the purpose for this investment . it is well..God will ensure all our hearts desires are fully met. |

Good evening house. My husband and I intend to apply for our visas first before applying for our children later, hope this won't be a problem especially because my husband won't be permanently in the UK as he will still keep his job here? And what are we supposed to respond when filling out visa application where they ask if our dependants are coming with us, yes or no? I am the primary applicant |

Tetfund pays the fees per session to the school dorectly but will deposot my living expenses in my naira account for each year. The rules were changed recently LaaJiblik: How are TETFUND funds released in your work place? In some workplaces that I know, the ENTIRE total amount of money (3 or 4 year tuition and maintenance estimate and every every ) is deposited into your Naira account by the workplace. Is that the case with your workplace?
If yes, then you could be ‘technically’ self-sponsored (in the eye of the school and UKVI). I am guessing the point your uni raised about not accepting Nigerian Govt-sponsored students is probably because of past experiences.
Simply put: Is TETFUND paying you per session or you are getting a bulk payment? |

Good day seniors, please I need your advice. I got phd admission at northumbria uni Newcastle as a self sponsored student but later the uni I work with here in naija approved my study fellowship with tetfund scholarship. Now my dilemma is that when applying for visa do I state that I am govt or self sponsored? Considering that northumbria uni informed me that they no longer enter sponsorship agreements with Nigerian govt. They however asked me to pay my deposit (which I did) as it will be refunded to me after tetfund pays my fees. They have already issued my cas (it states that I am self sponsored).
P.s There is a tuition fee discount of 3k for self sponsored students. Which of the fees should I put in my visa application?
