The 207 Special Mobility Group of the Nigerian Air Force in Calabar has carried out air raids on hideouts of criminal elements on Calabar waterways, the Commander, Charles Ohwo, has said. Ohwo, an Air Commodore, said Thursday in Calabar that the raids were carried out in compliance with the directive of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, following a series of kidnapping and other criminal activities in Calabar. Militants attacked a police armoury in Calabar this week killing at least two people and carting away a large cache of weapons. “Of late, you noticed that in Cross River, especially in Calabar, there has been an increase in kidnapping and theft cases spearheaded by militants, the latest being the attack on Marine Police. “The Chief of Air Staff directed the Mobility Command to ensure that the militants do not patrol along Calabar waterways again and to reassure the people that the Air Force is always able and ready. “So the display is just to assure the people of our combat readiness and we recorded successes, ‘’ Ohwo said. The commander said the Combat Aircraft MI-24 was being used in the operation and that the command was expecting the arrival of another fighter jet, MI-17. According to him, the command will continue to carry out such raids as often as possible until the bandits are cleared out of its area of responsibilities. Ohwo said the command was mindful of the safety and continued operations of fishermen during the raids and had informed other sister security agencies in the state about the operation. “The fight to flush out criminals is a collective responsibility by all security agencies, ‘’ he said. There has been an upsurge in criminal activities in the state in recent times, especially in Calabar jetties.http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/185292-nigerian-air-force-raids-militants-hideout-in-calabar-after-police-armoury-attack.html |

By Nwabueze Okonkwo ONITSHA – An Onitsha Chief Magistrate Court in Anambra State, presided over by His Worship, Nkemdilim Ike has remanded two persons in prison custody for their alleged involvement in homosexual activities. The accused persons, Ebuka Anyasi 23, Michael Ikegbunam 19 and others now at large, were arraigned before the court yesterday on a three count charge of conspiracy, unnatural canal knowledge and Seven days confinement of their victims. According to the prosecution, the accused and others at large had between 2010 to June 6, 2015 at Okolonji Street, Odoakpu Onitsha, conspired among themselves and allegedly committed felony by having carnal Knowledge of Ifechukwu Okafor (14) and Tagbo Chukwuma, as well as locking both victims in confinement while the unnatural act lasted for seven days. The two accused however pleaded not guilty to the three count charge against them as their lead counsel, John Chukwuma, prayed the court to grant them bail based on the fact that the offence was a bailable one. According to the defence counsel, “There is no need to further detain my clients, since before the law, they are innocent and their accusers have no evidence to proof the case”. The Prosecutor, Clem Nwancho, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, opposed the bail application on the ground that some of the members in the cartel of homosexuality who were caught with the two accused and granted bail by the police were nowhere to be found even in their residence. “Your Worship, it is clear that they would jump bail and abscond as others have done and they are at large now”, said Nwancho. The lead counsel to the plaintiff, Godwin Mmadubuko, also objected to the bail application, insisting that they would not be faithful to appear before the court when necessary. “Keeping them out of custody, within the society would endanger the lives of the victims, their families and the society at large since they would gang-up with their cartel to harm others” Mmadubuko said. Another counsel to the plaintiffs, Jude Umennajiego prayed the court to give a directive to the State Ministry of Health to conduct a medical test on the victims. According to Umennajiego, “the order is necessary since these boys have no money to run the test on their own and the result of the test is important to determine the case”. In her running, Chief Magistrate Ike directed the counsels for the defence and prosecution to submit their written applications and counter-applications for bail before Monday, June 22. She also directed the police prosecutor to investigate whether government health facilities can run medical test for the victims free of charge and report back to her before Wednesday, June 17, 2015. The Magistrate further directed that the two accused be remanded in Onitsha Prisons till Monday, June 22, when she would determine the written application and counter-applications of the counsels in the matter. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/court-remands-2-suspected-homosexuals-in-prison-custody/#sthash.y6zynaoh.dpuf |

You wont believe that the Rwandan Genocide was a genocidal mass slaughter of Tutsi and moderate Hutu in Rwanda by members of the Hutu majority. During the approximate 100-day period from April 7, 1994, to mid-July, an estimated 500,000–1,000,000 Rwandans were killed, constituting as much as 20% of the country's total population and 70% of the Tutsi then living in Rwanda. The genocide was planned by members of the core political elite known as the akazu, many of whom occupied positions at top levels of the national government. Perpetrators came from the ranks of the Rwandan army, the National Police (gendarmerie), government-backed militias including the Interahamwe and Impuzamugambi, and the Hutu civilian population but read this:YOU WONT BELIEVE THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE DENYING IT... Rwandan Genocide denial is the assertion that the Rwandan Genocide did not occur in the manner or to the extent described by scholarship. The Rwandan Genocide is widely acknowledged by genocide scholars to have been one of the biggest modern genocides, as many sources point to the sheer scale of the death toll as evidence for a systematic, organized plan to eliminate the victims. Denial of the Rwandan Genocide is a crime in Rwanda. Denial by officials A high-ranking Tutsi and a UN official have claimed that no genocide of the Tutsi took place at all: Antoine Nyetera, who claims Tutsi royal origins, and the former UN Representative in Rwanda, Roger Booboh, who declared that "to claim that a genocide occurred is closer to the politics of surrealism than to the truth". Herman and Peterson In The Politics of Genocide (2010), economist Edward S. Herman and independent researcher David Peterson, while not denying the scale of the killing during the period of extreme violence of April–July 1994, questioned the distribution of the victims for those months, arguing that Hutus comprised the majority of the dead, not Tutsis.[3] Their detractors have charged them with genocide denial,[4][5] accusations that have been condemned by Herman and Peterson. Their book goes much further than others who have questioned the consensus view of the genocide: it states that common knowledge is not simply partly incorrect, but is actually "a propaganda line ... that turned perpetrator and victim upside-down."[8] The pair are critical of fundamental aspects of the well-known report by Alison Des Forges,[9] and maintain that she obfuscates the issue of who assassinated Habyarimana (they argue it was clearly the RPF) and that, contrary to the conclusions of Des Forges's report, the only well-planned regimen of massive violence perpetrated after the assassination was the RPF's invasion to drive the Hutu from power.[10] Herman and Peterson ultimately conclude that the RPF were "prime génocidaires", while the Interahamwe were "the RPF's actual victims."[11] Their book argues that the accepted version of the events of 1994 implies Rwanda is "the first case in history in which a minority population, suffering destruction at the hands of its tormentors, drove its tormentors from power and assumed control of a country, all in the span of less than one hundred days", a narrative Herman and Peterson deem "incredible in the extreme."[12] Africa specialist Gerald Caplan criticized Herman and Peterson's account, charging that "why the Hutu members of the government 'couldn't possibly have planned a genocide against the Tutsi' is never remotely explained".[13] Herman and Peterson's position on the genocide was found "deplorable" by James Wizeye, first secretary at the Rwandan High Commission in London.[14] Adam Jones has compared Herman and Peterson's approach to Holocaust denial. According to sociologist Martin Shaw, Noam Chomsky subscribes to the Herman–Peterson thesis. Rwanda, The Untold Story In 2014, the BBC aired the documentary Rwanda, The Untold Story, which included interviews with American researchers who claim that most of the victims may have been Hutus. Afterwards, Rwanda's parliament approved a resolution to ban the BBC in the country. Peter Erlinder American lawyer Peter Erlinder, who was Lead Defence Counsel for the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, questions the planning of the killing, and so concludes that the slaughter of the Tutsi should not be called genocide... |
raumdeuter:I don't want to believe that it is independence that caused this SHIT between YORUBA AND IGBO(or is it the civil war?) because it was after independence that the shit scattered in the relationship between Tutsis and Hutus, even in the colonial era when Belgium ruled the area, after taking it from Germany in 1916,the two groups lived as one, speaking the same language, intermarrying, and obeying a nearly godlike Tutsi king. Independence changed everything. The monarchy was dissolved and Belgian troops withdrawn, a power vacuum both Tutsis and Hutus fought to fill. Two new countries emerged in 1962 -Rwanda, dominated by the Hutus, and Burundi by the Tutsis and the ethnic fighting flared on and off in the following decades... |
