TravelRe: Nigerian Living In Mexico. Ask Me Any Question About Life Here by RoastedCorn(m): 8:49am On Oct 16, 2018
justwise:
Maybe I'm missing something here..who called you a scammer? Or are you the agent? If you are not then why are you getting angry because people smell a rat about the agent you introduced them to?

An a agent who lives in London is asking for $1300 to process an admission to Mexico and was ready to allow prospective student skip exam and interview ?

Smh
My problem is that alot of Nigerians are uninformed and would display their ignorance to confuse other Nigerians at any point. There are Philippines universities agents in Nigeria. Australian universities, American universities with their agents in Nigeria and applying through these agents has benefits for instead of doing it yourself. So in cases of Countries like Gambia without these agents and wants to school in a fillipino school that has an agent in Nigeria. What would he do?

That's the same issue here, the school has an agent in UK but not Nigeria. Based on English speaking bla bla bla, he wants to apply through there.

I'm not saying the OP is not scamming o because there's still a lot of things to verify but alot of you just ignorantly wrote it off

Either way, back to your original question, America is not the place for Nigerians to come to right now unless you have family or job sponsorship( which is very hard these days, unless one is in stem courses or very hard to fill positions).

Good thing you've started thinking of preparing!

Get a bulk of SAT materials -> /SATdr

Get a study plan and study veraciously to achieve a high score. 1600/1600 is quite possible and also start listing the schools you want and intend to apply to. Good luck and all the best.
I've done all this, I even applied myself. It costs 31650

Bro, you did good. God would bless you someday. . . all other fools Here saying he's a mumu for not knacking the girl for whatever reasons are plainly stupid. Nigerians would always give you circumstantial reasons to make good act look wrong.

I once rejected a bribe and some of my guys painted it as if I was a mumu saying, "you no get sense you for just collect am, Nigeria go still bad last last, politicians still dey thief money you dey here dey form good"

While their argument could be seen as logical it hasn't denied the singular act of not collecting brine being a good thing

Big ups man

Please my bosses in the house...

Which textbook is best for Anatomy Between Charusia And KeithMoore...

this has been causing confusion ..pls help
Hello,

In the rush of entering 200level and getting medical textbooks I bought keith Moore, I had only read humerus in upper limb and could not remember most things. When I tried reading a textbook written just like chaurasia (textbook of anatomy by vishram sighn) I found out I could grab more things with smaller effort in reading and very little revision. I dashed my textbook out to a fellow classmate who wants the Keith Moore and continued reading the chaurasia like textbooks with small small class notes to confirm figures (stuffs like what you lecturer says on "how many ossifications centers does so so so bones have and what the textbook says about it. Cos they might be different since vishram is an Indian textbook).

The thing about Indian textbooks is that it is very student friendly, perfectly arranged for easy assimilations and contains mnemonics for you to learn things better (things like " girl between two surgeons", "lady between two majors", " Lucknow medical college, medical college Lucknow etc). I must also admit it has many stuffs you don't need, hence the need for your note as a guide.

Guyton has a lot of hyperstuff in it, so just read sembulingam and your class note but if you aim to have a distinction read guyton.

MN Charttajea is very good for biochemistry.

Saddler and BRS is good for embryology.

In medical school read when you should read, play too, do extracurricular stuffs to develop yourself, its what would keep you sane and most importantly read smartly.

My BDS part1A results was out today and I passed Anatomy, physiology and biochemistry without reading everything

Goodluck.

Pls what does quota mean? I saw that the quota for lasu dentistry is 10,does it mean only 10 people would be admitted into dentistry
yes but most times they'd admit above it a little depending on the school. Like in LASU I think the last admission was around 15 students or so. But in UNIBEN where I school it is 25 every year. Like we're 25 in my class that was admitted in 100 level
EducationMedical Students Protest In UNIBEN by RoastedCorn(op): 6:30pm On Mar 29, 2018
Today medical and dental students of the University of Benin came out to protest their lack of accommodation. The University of Benin forcefully drove them out of Hall5 and refused them entering "NDDC medical hostel" their supposed hostel. It should be noted that when the University of Benin Medical school was fighting for accreditation of 150 quota of admission last year, they told MDCN(medical and Dental council of Nigeria) that NDDC medical hostel is fully for medical students.

The list that came out earlier this month through those that have "connection" had over 250 students with medical and dental students not being up to 30 in the list.

As it stands now medical and dental students of the University of Benin are still outside NDDC hostel waiting to enter the hostel with their loads and they said they are ready to sleep outside for the next two days.

More info will come as the protest continues.

EducationRe: The medical students and aspirants thread by RoastedCorn(m): 5:54pm On Feb 18, 2018
Dear fresh Dental Student,

Just few minutes ago I got a call from a dental student from the university of Nigeria Nnsuka that I met on Nairaland.com who told me he was finding it hard to concentrate his mind on reading because of the many false stereotypes and sheer ignorance on Dentistry. This further goes a long way to affirm how underdeveloped the Nigerian health sector is and how grossly ignoranced Nigerians are. I think many dental students in Nigeria would agree with me that in their early years in the university the comment that they mostly hear from ignorance-drenching individuals on dentistry were things like; "you guys are spending a whole 6 years to study just the teeth" , "why are you guys are just a wannabe medical student" (not knowing the term medical student covers both departments except when a dental student wants to distinguish himself and uses the word 'dental student'), "why are you guys even receiving lectures with medical student?, they study the whole body and you guys do just the teeth". These are only a few mind boggling negative assertions towards dentistry and any dental student would agree with me that educating any other student on dentistry is one of the hardest task you could think of.

Many people have this false stereotype on dentistry that when you try to bring them out of their abyss of ignorance they find it so hard to believe even when you show them facts on google. A senior colleague of mine that just finished his pathology and pharmacology exams and is in the Medicine and surgery class (5th year I'm UNIBEN) told me days ago that his classmates in Medicine who has been in medical school for four years doesn't even know that dental students take Medicine and surgery as a course. Some would even say you're a dentist not a doctor without knowing that this statement is as fallacious as saying you're an opthalmologist not a doctor. Others say it is a boring course treating just the teeth the whole of your life and medicine is the whole body without knowing that even as a medical doctor you'd specialize in an aspect say opthalmology and that means you'd be treating the eyes for the rest of your life. Some say dentistry is not part of NMA, such ignorance; others say dentist collect less pay without knowing the two professions both work on CONMESS which is the standard salary structure of both professions; some others would say dentist don't save lives without knowing most of the accidents involving injury to the head in Nigeria are mostly done by dentist. I would like to stop here for now.

I told him I see myself as a doctor and nothing else that when I finish and I like orthopaedic I might take the MDCN exam to change my BDS to MBBS and specialize in orthopedic an if it is orthodontics that I want to further in I will just still use my BDS because I see myself as a doctor with no limited opportunities. Why can't we be like the Indians that have no disparity between dentistry, medicine, physiotherapy, radiology, nursing and MLS but instead work hard hand-in-hand to provide a better healthcare sector.

I write this because of the new intakes who are finding it hard to settle their mind on dentistry because of negative comments from ignorant minds. I want to tell you that you're unique, you're wonderful, you're a dentist, a surgeon and most importantly a lifesaver, don't give anybody the opportunity to treat you any less, thanks.

See the way you just jumped into conclusions.

Encouraging someone to be more accommodating and tolerant doesn't mean I am academically weak.

I'm certain you didn't see me posting anything about how I want the examiners to set the questions, because that is their job. And that is why we say, "may the best man win".

And just for the record, I'm a core scientist. (which really doesn't matter, but just to let you know that higher aptitude for verbal or quantitative reasoning has nothing to do with your course of study)
Okay

I think it isn't just a social science or arts issue, I am a MCB&V(Microbiology and Virology) student and I find the mathematics to be unnecessary. Though we have no right to tell the organizers how to conduct the competition, I sincerely hope the maths is reduced in stage 2.

I wonder how you came about these voodoo statistics; 74%,64%,and 54%?, this just looks like an arithmetic progression. What are the odds that all the Uniben students managed to get scores with 10% difference all through?.

Well, I can still congratulate a Unibenite's victory in this competition, but a Uite?,absolutely not!.
Lol as eerie as it is, its nothing but the truth

This way you go about surviving makes you appear very self centered.

But you apologized, and that is a good thing.

It's not a jungle, it's a competition. If the organizer had this jungle mindset he wouldn't put it together because I know he must definitely have other responsibilities too.

The more, the merrier. And may the best man win.
the way you social science/arts guys go about this mathematics thing is so so sickening. for crying out loud we did same maths and English from Pry1 - SS3 so why the fuss??. I'm a medical student hasn't done any maths related course for up to four years now too, even SAT is maths and English. No one should be responsible for your weakness in maths and strength in English . . please the organizers, continue with your strategy because I don't find any fault in it since the maths questions being asked are basic reasoning questions and not dy/dx
