US singer Whitney Houston dies aged 48

The cause of Ms Houston's death is not clear
American singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.

The cause and the location of her death were unclear, her publicist Kristen Foster told the AP news agency. A family spokesman confirmed the news.

Regarded as one of the most celebrated female acts of all time, Houston also enjoyed success acting in films such as The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale.

But her later career was overshadowed by drug use and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.

The peak of her success came with a string of hits in the 80s and early 90s.

A MURDERED schoolboy died trying to get his BlackBerry back from a gang of muggers, police said last night.

Teenager Temidayo Ogunneye was robbed of his pricey smartphone by three yobs.

Cops now believe he returned 80 minutes later with three pals determined to retrieve the gadget.

A clash broke out between the two groups - some of whom were in school uniform - and Temidayo, 15, was stabbed in the stomach.

After the fight, witnessed by up to ten teenagers, his killer ran off shouting, 'I done him'.

Nigerian-born Temidayo died in hospital six hours after the fight on the Calais Gate estate in Camberwell, South London, on Wednesday afternoon.

Det Chief Insp John McFarlane, leading the inquiry, said: "He was robbed by three youths and returned with mates in an attempt to regain the phone. It was during an altercation he received the wounds."

A resident of the estate reported seeing three or four girls gathered round Temidayo as he lay injured in the street.

BlackBerrys are popular with teenagers because of a free inter-phone message service.

Three youths were being quizzed yesterday.

The reason you feel that way is because as a Nigerian you have never been used to proper democracy nor a normal electoral process. If a person makes his intention known about his political ambitions I would very much like to know about everything he has ever said or done in the past. This is very important because as a politician, he is deceptive by nature and would want to portray a saint at the time of campaign. What he did before his political ambition reflects his true nature and intentions. That is how it is done elsewhere: total scrutiny of one’s personal life. The sooner we understand this the better for us as a country. even if it is 100 years ago, i want to know. . . . .

Wow, I thought I would receive bashing from left, right and center from the next reply, your reply was insightful and I appreciate that, I understood more when I saw GA as your location and knew you weren't talking from a typical 9ja point of view.
I was able to recall instances during the USA election about what Obama, MCcain and Palin had said in the past and how it was used for and against them during the campaign.

I don't know why people are blaming Osaze, I know it is unfair to blame his coach, but this was a guy that honoured all the invitations during the qualifiers and made sure the team progressed only for Lagerback to replace him with absentees.

I miss Barrack'Ogrin more. I miss his lyrical contribution to the growth of Nigerian hip hop. He was very promising.

My 2 cents

It is people like Yerima and co. that just marry for the fun of it and proliferate offsprings they can't take care off, just like the case of the famous "underwear bomber" where his dad had numerous kids and too much money to even know the whereabouts of his son.
And then use religion to defend  their foolishness.

on another note;
i still wonder why BBC won't talk about the backwardness of northern Nigeria, their stupidity, their world class poverty , their hypocritical lifestyle , and damages they have brought to Nigeria right from when that "hunter" called lugard amalgamated "us" with "them", they are only interested in defaming the only state in Nigeria where there is hope.
