SE zone is the most densely populated area in Nigeria and probably west africa after Lagos, which we know is multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan. Why do you think state of origin was removed from census forms but replaced instead with state of residence? As of 1921, the census of southern Nigeria showed Igbo to be leading and Yorubas next. How Yorubas suddenly became a majority population overnight raises suspicion.

Most yorubas in lagos know Igbos are bigger. four yoruba states of oyo ogun osun and hardly ondo have average population ekiti is quite small to even be a state. Outside sw zone there are yorubas in kogi but kogi itself has a small population despite its large size, okun being just 24% of the state's population amounting to about 450000 people. There are also yorubas in kwara but in south. North being hausa and nupe while central is a mixed. Lagos the most populous yoruba state has more than half ot its people as non yoruba. Yorubas only appear large on the surface. Here in the Igboland many Anambra, enugu Imo and Abia have average population. Outside SE Delta unlike kogi have high population. Igbos have highest no of lga in the state, quite big to be a state. In Rivers Igbos are majority. PH city lga, obio akpor are bigger than ekiti. Again igbos in lagos can make a state. As it is igbos appear small on the surface but are big. Every ethnic census conducted has always placed Igbo ahead of yorubas. You guys always find it difficult to balance the allegation that Igbos troop into southwest with the claim that yorubas are bigger than Igbos when population figures become the focus.

Why are you ranting? Argue with facts. At least that chap showed some data, why not also counter him with some data that can be verified? You people are known/reputed noisemakers who throw numbers around. Going by the amount of noises you all make, one would've thought that your states in the SE would be amongst the most populated in the entire country, but the facts have revealed repeatedly that you guys are actually THE LEAST populated zone in the entire country! No data anywhere supports your claims. Whether it be recent census or what have you. I have often shown the attached screenshots of registered phone/internet subscribers data to show the estimated/ballpark population spread of Nigerian states (note that just the population of Oyo and Ogun alone outnumbers the entire SE! that's minus Osun, Ondo and Ekiti (or the worthy mentions of Kwara and parts of Kogi). From that data, asides Anambra, no SE state is more populated than any SW state minus Ekiti. This isn't noisemaking but rather credible data. Even if Igbos are 30% of Lagos population, Yorubas still outnumber you guys by far! Face the fact, you people are fond of making wild and exaggerated claims about your population strength yet una no fit prove am.

So, Igbos, both indigenes and non indigenes in Rivers and Delta run into Millions. Other parts of the SS like Edo, Akwa Ibom also have large igbo populations, even in middlebelt areas like Jos-Plateau, Abuja and neighbouring parts of Abuja like Nasarawa and Niger has so much Igbos too.

Bro, no one is doubting that igbos are in different parts of Nigeria, the contention is how many are they in those places. I just gave you an estimated breakdown of their numbers in the SW for example. Often times they may not even number up to 10,000 sef in many cases but are usually visible due to their trading activities. They often gather for their customary meetings wherever you find them and in such cases they usually don't number up to a hundred let alone a thousand. Bottomline is that they exaggerate their population outside their SE base.

I liken it to the false perception that most Nigerians have about dstv for instance. A lot of people would probably be shocked to realize that the cable company has just a paltry 1.5-miion total subscribers in Nigeria (out of close to 200-million folks, even though it generally seems like half of the Nigerian population are subscribers of the service by now. In a nutshell, perception doesn't always equal reality.

Outside perhaps Lagos which is actually a potpourri of ethnicities, nowhere else outside Igboland and maybe Delta state do Igbos have populations as much as a million. #Fact

Fayose once said publicly said there are close to 30,000 igbos in Ekiti (the smallest state in the SW), they can't be more than 30,000 -50,000 max or thereabout in Osun (if not lesser), maybe anywhere between 30,000 - 50,000 (max) of them in each of the remaining Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, and Kwara states as well. These are states that have an estimated total population of between 3 - 10million each. Altogether they are most definitely far from being up to 1-million of them residing in the SW states outside Lagos (yes, I know they like throwing around 'millions' here and there but that's just them doing their usual unsubstantiated chest-beating). I laughed when I once read about some igbos in Benue who said they are a marginalized minority in the state, yet they claimed to be more than a million in population in Benue. . Abeg if they are that many in Benue where would that leave the Tivs, Idomas and other major natives of the state? What is the overall population of Benue? Na just their usual penchant for throwing around 'millions'.

Now, I don't know about their population in the Northern states put together but it certainly can't be more than probably 1-million max.
