WHen jonah-daft the ineffectual bufffoon was in charge, was it a norm for them to list out names and details of arms purchased per time? was it ever done? if u had no issues with that then, why demanding such from the current government? Asking me shows that u av nothing else to say but hold on to shafts and nothing more. Go to defence headquarters and ask if u indeed want to know

These superior arms and ammunitions purchased after May 29 2015 that helped in defeating BH in 2015 couldn't be of help when over 60 Nigerians were tactically killed by BH. I hear another 6 down....

u think u are smart but u are surely not at all. He became president May 2015, are u saying there were no funds for him to utilize? what about security votes between then and now? what budgetary apprropriation are u talking about? have civil servants not started receiving january 2016 salaries? has the non passage of the budget stopped that? u need to learn more no doubt.

You are the smart fellow! Now, which arms did he buy to technically defeat BH that tactically ended the life of over 60 persons on Saturday? I guess Lai Mohammed, can pointedly list out the superior arms PMB bought since May 29th 2015. Also, PMB should publish the Material Test Certificates of these supposedly superior arms and ammunitions.

Budget haven't been approved but has governance cease to function ? U lot need to use ur brain oo.

So, are you saying that PMB is spending outside a Budget? How can 'saintly', 'change' Buhari now spend money without appropriation act of 2016?

Career / FirstCity Monument Bank Sacks 150 Staff Over 'Economic Downturn’ by rolchi(m): 5:09pm On Feb 01, 2016
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has relieved 150 staff of their duties, a top official of the bank said on Monday.

The official, who did not want to be named, told NAN that those affected represented five per cent of the bank’s 3,000 workforce.

He said the bank had also employed some new staff to replace some of those sacked.

The workers were sacked on January 19.

According to the official, the affected workers were found to have under-performed during the bank’s review of activities of its staff.

He said the development was not peculiar to FCMB, adding that some other banks had done same recently.

The official also attributed the sack to the economic downturn of the country due to weak prices of global commodities.

He said it was natural that those found wanting would be eased out due to poor returns.

Well I think the president can run the country successfully without all these obstacles of governance. cool

The executive are a problem already o! Are you not aware that "ministers are noise makers"? Little wonder, why no minister is talking to Nigerians to give us hope in the face of the current economic crunch. How many times have you heard Audu Ogbeh talk about his plans for Agriculture? How many times have you heard the "magical" Fayemi talk about Solid Minerals and how they want to "diversify". So far, only Lie Mohammed is talking and you my friend, know that it is as usual, "open lies".

My brother, please don't be fooled. Nobody is commending the APC-Led FG because there is no judicial reform going on at the moment. Rather, what we have is judicial rascality and Contradiction. It has been series of contradictory judgements from the tribunals to the Appeal Courts. Only the Supreme Court (which has a measure of independence and self-worth) has been consistent in her judgements. You can perceive how miffed the CJN was at the contradictory and rascally judgements bought or influenced at the Appeal Courts and Tribunals. Do you know the implication of these judgements?
Cases that do not go high up to the Supreme Court like those of the Senate, Reps and State Houses of Assembly have a very high probability of having their judgements not made in the true light of the law. Take the Rivers case for example - All the Senatorial, Rep and most of the HOA elections have been annulled and re-run called for . The card reader reason was given for their annulment which the Supreme Court has stressed for the umpteenth time is not superior to the Electoral act or manual accreditation. Those guys can't get justice because their cases do not go high up to the Supreme Court. They have been done great injustice to the benefit of the ruling party.

For now, No reforms. Let's wait for such time when there will be one. Thanks.

Politics / Senate Confirms 2 Separate Budget Versions by rolchi(m): 3:15pm On Jan 14, 2016
Controversy continue in the red chamber of the national assembly on Thursday, when two different versions of the federal budget were discovered. The 2016 budget presented to the national assembly on December 22, 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari was discovered to be missing on Tuesday. Senate President Bukola Saraki maintained on Thursday that the budget was never missing, he said Ita Enang, special adviser to the president on national assembly matters, presented a budget different from the one presented by the president himself. “Today, the Senate received the report of the ad hoc committee setup to investigate the claims of the ‪missing Budget 2016,” he said. “The report of the committee revealed that the Senate received two versions of the 2016 Appropriation Bill – one from President Muhammadu Buhari at the December 22nd, 2015 Joint Session of the National Assembly, and another from the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang. Saraki insists that “the senate will only accept the version of the appropriation bill that was presented by the president”. Earlier on Wednesday, Saraki dismissed all reports regarding a missing budget, insisting that the senate had planned its plenary sessions to address the budget. Addressing enquiries from TheCable, Garba Shehu, special assistant to the president on media and publicity, also insisted that no budget was missing. “Nobody except the president can withdraw the budget. As far as we know, he hasn’t done that,” he said. “The copies in their hundreds have been delivered to both chambers of the national assembly. By tradition, once the budget is submitted, it ceases to be our property. Enquiries as to where it is should be directed to the appropriate quarters.” The 2016 budget of about N6.08 trillion with an expansionary view has been trailed by much criticism, including an optimistic crude oil benchmark of $38 per barrel, while oil trade as low as $29.

Politics / Buhari orders journalists out of BBOG Meeting by rolchi(m): 2:11pm On Jan 14, 2016
Parents of the abducted Chibok girls and members of the Bringbackourgirls movement on Thursday refused to leave when they were told that President Muhammadu Buhari would not meet with them. The protesters insisted on seeing the president, who had promised, on July 8, to rescue the abducted schoolgirls.

The president, whom Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, said was at a meeting at the time the protesters arrived at the villa, sent Aisha Alhassan, minister of women affairs, as his representative to them. But Alhassan took shots at the Chibok parents and the BBOG for not giving the government prior notice of their coming.

In response, Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of education and leader of the BBOG, accused the minister of not being fair. “You have been very unfair to us,” she said. “I don’t understand why you can be chiding the parents and the movement. These parents were triggered by the words of the president who promised to rescue their daughters.” BBOG members and parents of the girls waiting for Buhari at the banquet hall of the presidential villa While she was still speaking, Shehu interrupted her to announce that the president would now meet the protesters.

Mohammed Monguno, national security adviser; Mohammed Dan Ali, minister of defence, and Gabriel Olonishakin, chief of defence staff were in the government delegation that received the group.

When the president eventually arrived, he ordered journalists out of the meeting. Shehu, who voiced the order, said the reason was because some “sensitive issues” were to be discussed. A galaxy of journalists who had turned up for the meeting thronged out of the banquet hall, venue of the meeting, in quick steps.

TonyeBarcanista:

Comprehension is indeed an issue here. Sambo Dasuki's office as NSA(ONSA) was given $2.2billion to purchase arms. The money was "diverted" to purpose other than arms purchase. The whole money didn't end up in Dasuki account alone, some other people participated. How can you then charge Dasuki for the whole $2.2billion? This is a straightforward thing. You can only charge Sambo for stealing whatever is traced to him, and perhaps as conspirator and accestory in what went to others.

Hence, this.....

""Secondly, you can't charge Dasuki for "stealing" or diverting $2.2billion when you are yet to establish that he diverted/stole all the monies on his own.""

Sir, are you "by the above" agreeing that Col. Sambo Dasuki ... "stole", "diverted", "shared", "misappropriated", "distributed", "cornered", "ate"...the entire 2.2B USD either by himself or through his "cronies"?

Sure boss

Thank You Sir. Please, note that I have earlier advised the OP that we must wait for court processes to run through as I am an addicted 'democrat'. Thanks to the Ex President GEJ, who demonstrated how a democrat should be.

Now, to my question

1. Do we have any evidence to show that Dasuki said anything as you have outlined? Is it possible that his statement to the EFCC is in public domain?

2. If 2.1B USD is actually "missing" or "misapplied" and this amount is totaly for the purchase of arms, how come the EFCC has only brought charges for less than 200M USD?

Thanks

TonyeBarcanista:

No Sir! The $2.2 billion wasn't for "security vote" as you claim. It was an extra-budgetary amount that the FG set aside for arms purchase. It is different from the $1billion that the FG borrowed in 2014 for same purpose and other budgeted expenses.

The so-called $300million returned Abacha loot forms part of the $2.2 billion extra budgeted for arms purchase. They aren't for "Security vote". Even the authorisation by Jonathan said arms purchase. Sambo Dasuki didn't deny that. In fact, he said that Jonathan approved the $2.2billion for the purpose.

N/B: The arms purchase $2.2billion is different from the appropriated monies by the NASS. Allow the people invoved to defend themselves.

It isn't propaganda Sir!

Sir, if I can ask some questions, please?

Please read my post again. The monies being mentioned are monies from the allocation to the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) throughout his tenure. They come under SECURITY VOTES. They are not money for arms purchase. And under security votes, they can be used for practically anything

As published by Dele Momodu (Boss Newspaper), in his interview with Deiziani Allison Madueke...till date, not one FG or APC official has faulted her submission. We all, including the media, pretended we didn't see that. Didn't the PMB tell us then that he met an empty treasury and it was widely reported?
