PMB campaigned in Nigeria and promised Nigerians so much including the famous "My Covenant with Nigeria" and then flew to Chatatm House in London to discountenance the promises he (or his party) made to Nigerians...without thinking of repeating same words when he returned to Nigeria.

Now his handlers are referring to a speech in London, where majority of his voters did not hear him to discountenance his promises and gullible Nigerians here in Nigeria cannot hold him to him promise....

May God help them!
Politics / Re: APC Disowns One Meal A Day Billboard by rolchi(m): 8:35am On Sep 02, 2015
But PMB did promise all those things! PMB even told Amanpour of CNN that he will achieve them given time since his government is still weeks into Power. Denying the whole promises made is wickedness by the APC. It would have been better to asked for more time than denying they made such promises. The APC should know that "one lie told will need so many more lies to uphold". This will damage their credibility and integrity.

One of the salient achievements of GEJ is that Nigerians are more aware and informed than ever before int he history of Politicking. The Nigerian Voters now believe that true power belongs to the people!

The APC have chosen a wrong path by outright denials...there is payback tomorrow!

May God help PMB!

My problem with all those shouting corruption on this thread is that they fail to realise that their good mindset have been 'corrupted' by the virulent propaganda mounted by the APC.

I have read through the article by Reno but did not find one word of "corruption". His advice to the Comrade Governor is that He should endeavor to cross-check his facts before coming to the public and that does not mean Reno is condoning corruption.

Or do we take it that the virulent propaganda has so much affected our friends that they can no longer pass a simple Comprehension Test on any Comprehension Text?

The SSA on Media was the Media Director for Buhari Campaign. When he saw those documents with "authorized Party Logo", why didn't he discountenance them? When didn't they discountenanced the documents immediately after winning the elections? The fact that he came out after 100D of PMB's government to discountenance a document that will highlight his achievements after 100D, is an open acceptance of failure on the government of PMB! Will the APC also come out to discountenance this document, since it had 'authorized' party logo? We are waiting for Lai Mohammed to tell his own story.

...QED!

Gbawe:

The reason is that Buhari is very scared of failing Nigerians and he is doing everything to make sure mistakes are avoided which rendered the past three regimes (OBJ, Yar Adua and Jonathan) inneffective overall and unable to address Nigeria's major problems such as poor power supply, poverty, unemployment, insecurity, weak and corrupt institutions, abysmal healthcare et al. I don't expect you to believe me but I can tell you that Buhari is shunning 'awon boyz' and their interest and focusing on what will transform our nation. That is a very, very good thing for Nigeria.

Gbawe, I agree that he is taking his time to avoid the mistakes of the past...but alas, the media and his party has hyped him even beyond demi-gods. He is now hemi-demi-semi god! However, like you and I know...it is human to err. Buhari must make mistakes because he is human and not because he wants to. The fall from the Olympian Height will be too loud simply because of the over-exaggeration of only a mere mortal.

Quote me when it begins to happen.

God bless PMB!

There are 2 approaches to fighting corruption:
1. GEJ's goat and yam theory where systems are put in place to prevent thieves from getting close to the funds.
2. Flogging the goat for eating the yam.

For corruption to be effectively fought in a country like Nigeria where indiscipline and impunity reigns supreme, both number 1 and 2 have to be applied. GEJ failed because he attempted only number 1.

Atleast, we all agree GEJ attempted something!

last week I bought pms at a non- NNPC station @ N87. I asked why they now sell at dat price they said it because the refinery in warri is working now. soon all petrol stations in warri will sell at that price. so lets be positive and support change.

But the news says that the...refineries were working but they had constraints in terms of supplying products to marketers.

He said, “For now, marketers go to where they think they can get the products easily without problems. The refineries are working, no doubt, but we know that the pipelines are not functioning properly because of vandalism. We are working with the Federal Government to see how we can connect, especially Aba and Enugu up to Makurdi.

Soon, a lot of things will fall in place. Considering what they are producing now, if the pipelines are not in order, then they will not be able to get products across. However, I’m sure that the new government, being a government of change, is working on this issue.”

Please, explain better? Do you mean only filling stations in Warri and its environs?

Politics / FACT CHECKER: Emefiele Lied On Dom Accounts by rolchi(m): 4:26pm On Aug 04, 2015
Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), claimed on Monday that Nigeria is the only country “in the world” that allows its citizens to operate domiciliary accounts. What, in the world, was he talking about? “I am telling you that citizens of other countries are not allowed to operate domiciliary accounts. Nigeria is so free that people are able to do anything that they want to do,” he told THISDAY in the interview. He was trying to defend the decision of Nigerian banks to stop receiving foreign currency deposits, an action that seems to be boosting the value of the naira in the parallel markets. But Emefiele spectacularly got his fact wrong. At the risk of free advertisement, we ask him to click this link to open an account with HSBC in the UK — in any major international currency of his choice. If he doesn’t really like HSBC for some reason, he can choose Lloyds Bank. They are also in need of foreign currencies, in addition to the British pound. TSB, Santander UK, RBS, Nationwide, NatWest — absolutely no bank wants to be left out. Or Emefiele prefers Barclays? This screenshot tells him a bit about its services. He should pay attention to the yellow highlight. America will never be left out, as we all can guess, and Citi Bank could well be Emefiele’s first port-of-call. It has a product named “Foreign Currency Account and Multi Currency Account” for, erm, foreign currencies! Emefiele would be able to pay and receive in any of the following: Australian dollars, Canadian dollars, Czech koruna, Danish krone, the euro, Great British pound, Hong Kong dollars, Hungarian forint, Israeli shekels, Japanese yen and New Zealand dollar. Others are Norwegian krona, Polish zloty, Romanian lei, Russian rubles, South African rand, Swedish krona, Swiss francs, Turkish lira, United Arab Emirates dirham and, of course, the irresistible US dollar. Unfortunately, the naira is not one of the currencies. Maybe Emefiele can spend more energy on that in the next three years. A Nigerian-born British banker told TheCable: “As a banking practitioner with almost 10 years experience in the UK, there is nothing remotely close to what the CBN governor said. A bank customer with the domiciliary account equivalent in the UK can pay USD cash into their foreign currency/domiciliary account. This is the practice from when I started banking in the UK 10 years ago and continues to be the practice even today. “The only issue is with money laundering. Once the bank is certain your cash is not linked with the proceed of crime, they will take it from you and bank it.” The CBN, in a newspaper advert on Tuesday, tried to come to Emefiele’s rescue by adding “without proper documentation” to his statement, as if you can just walk into any bank in the world and deposit money without “proper documentation”. Of course, you have to fill forms to deposit cash. Maybe Emefiele wanted to say: “There is no country in the world that allows its citizens to operate domiciliary accounts. The citizens are only allowed to operate foreign currency accounts. I hereby order Nigerians to start operating foreign currency accounts instead of domiciliary accounts.” Luckily, Emefiele has promised to “investigate”. Hopefully, no committee will be set up to do that. He should just calm down and ask Google.

The use of technology is the sure way to go. Use of Drones/Satellite to monitor our waters and chemical stamp for our oil. I remember, these are all steps proposed by GEJ. PMB should proceed to implement these. But I also understand that the use of chemical stamp is not going to be easy as well.
Politics / Intelligent Analysis Of The Oil Business - Maria Darego by rolchi(m): 1:11pm On Jul 23, 2015
Mr. Buhari really needs to take time and understand the workings of the Nigerian Oil Industry if he really wants to sanitize and reform it! What is happening so far is that people in his restrictive inner circle just rush to him with incredulous figures which he gets excited about and starts chasing! People break pipelines and steal crude oil daily in Nigeria and ship same to vessels offshore which co-load the stolen crude oil with legally loaded crude oil and transport same to various refineries abroad! But Nigerian crude is legally sold FOB (Free on Board) by NNPC so the title of the oil changes from NNPC to the lifting entity once the loading hoses are disconnected from the vessel. When the vessel departs the Nigerian loading terminal, the oil does not belong to Nigeria anymore! Such legal Liftings are secured by Irrevocable Letters of Credit that ensures NNPC is paid and these payments are made to either the CBN Federation Account, CBN FIRS Account, and CBN DPR Accounts all at JP Morgan Chase Bank in New York. No money would ever be found to be missing from those accounts (No matter what Emir Sanusi says)! If a vessel that legally loads crude oil at any terminal, stops mid sea to take on an additional crude oil that may have been stolen; it becomes very complex to trace; as the same vessel may also stop in Angola, Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, etc to take on an additional cargo that is legally sold to the off-taker! Throw in this mix the fact that the title of the crude oil may change up-to 5 times (what the traders call the lifting chain) before it gets to its final destination and you can see how difficult it is to trace these transactions! For example, a very large crude carrier (VLCC) loads a 950,000 barrel cargo at Forcados Terminal in Nigeria, loads a 1 million Barrels cargo Nemba cargo in Angola, and in between accepts 200,000 barrel cargo stolen crude off shore Nigeria and sails to India and Singapore. The 950,000 barrels Forcados might have been legally sold by Shell Trading to a Swiss Based Trader. The Nemba cargo might have been legally sold by Sonangol (the National Oil Company of Angola) to a London Trader co-chartering the vessel with the Swiss Trader. The 200,000 stolen crude may have been sold by the thieves to a third entity that has also reserved space on the same VLCC. Tracing the transaction involves getting the OUT-TURN figures at the various discharge ports from the off-taking entities!! But how do you prove and tie-back to Nigeria when the vessel loaded from many ports legally and volumes legally change in transit due to temperature conditions? Mr. Buhari may be better off increasing the capacity of the Nigerian Maritime authorities to track and monitor vesels in Nigerian coastal waters using satellite/drone technology! He may also be better off biting the bullet and removing the fuel subsidy in the prevailing low oil price environment before the window closes on him! By the way, his directive to NNPC to ban more than 100 vessels from Nigerian waters has shot up the freight rates from Nigeria in the past one week, making Nigerian Crude Oil Prices very uncompetitive in the international market! As the unsold cargoes (more than 10 million barrels for July remain unsold) pile up; Mr. Buhari would come to realize that Nigerians cannot drink crude oil.

Politics / Re: Petrol Subsidy Hits N1.69bn Daily by rolchi(m): 2:55pm On Jul 21, 2015
coolbis:
i must say I really apppreciate your maturity in dealing with issues devoid of insults and lies as its generally witness on most of our social media these days. However there is no way a liter of pms will be sold for double the present price if we actually follow the simple law of demand and supply. The business of oil and gas is largely dependent on international politics , which simply means a possible lift of sanctions imposed on iran about 4 years ago will increase the supply of oil in the global market, couple with the general resolve of most world power that are doing everything possible to reduce the use of hydrcarbon derivates as source of power due to global warming. The demand may not witness any appreciable increase, and in the face of excess supply, the prices may not increase. However our grouse against the govt of Dr GEJ was that, @ the time the crude was being sold for over a $100, we expected that part of the money realised would have been used to fix our refineries which have capacity to supply over 60percent of our daily consumption. That would have reduced the level of imports and negate the back interest and forex differentials. The oil swap always would have been a very good strategy of subsidy.

My Boss, Nigerians fail to understand certain dynamics in our evolutional journey. We are aware that today, PHRC is now "producing", but alas, we are still experiencing scarcity...take my word for it, we must remove this subsidy to ensure optimum supply of the product. There must be a free market for the construction of more refineries to be a reality.

May God help Nigeria.
