If ASUU don't call of this strike before Monday, then they are wicked .Yesterday ASUU agreed to call off the prolonged strike after being offered #70b. But we should know one thing agreeing to call off strike is not the same as calling off strike. They want to get by to their members. Because of the urgency, ASUU suppose to get back to its members today (Saturday), and announce a call off on Sunday but they will not, they will use the whole of next week to get to its members because the matter is not serious to them. Let's take example from the proposed strike by labour this year, because of the urgency of the matter, fg shifted it's scheduled on Tuesday backward to Sunday to prevent strike. ASUU should copy from them and get to its members today. Agreeing to call off strike is not goodnews to me thanks |

Nnamdi Kanu terrorist? Then who is Buhari? Nonsense. History will never forget this statement. "An attack against Boko Haram is an attack against the north ".....Buhari |
A very wrong heading, you should add ASUU and Fg because there are the first and second defendants respectively |
…Says FG playing with future of Nigerian youths The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has expressed regrets that with the action of the Federal Government that Universities would not resume again this year. ASUU also stated that FG was playing with future of Nigeria students, adding that the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, cannot curb corruption in the university system as claimed by the government. This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Uzo Onyebinama, Zonal Coordinator, ASUU, Port Harcourt zone, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan, Chairperson, Federal University Otuoke (FUO) Comrade Endurance Joseph, Chairperson, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Comrade Tonbara Kingdom, Chairperson, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island and Comrade Austen Sado, Chairperson, University of Port Harcourt. Speaking for the zone in Port Harcourt, the zonal coordinator, Onyebinama, sad with the attitude of the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, that universities would not be able to resume again in 2020. The union coordinator said it was painful that universities have lost two academic sessions, explaining that students admitted in this academic season were yet to take their first semester examinations. He noted that the new set of students were already waiting to be admitted, adding that when school resumed it would be difficult to manage the situation. He said: “His (Ngige) recent comments on Channels TV is a signal that Universities cannot reopen this 2020 and this government gambling with the future of Nigerian Youths. “The handwriting has always been on the wall about the reluctance of this government to take necessary steps to ensure that our universities reopen this year.” He stated that the IPPIS cannot stop corruption in the universities, stating that only Visitation Panels could do so. Onyebinama said: “IPPIS is not the legal instrument for solving the problem of monumental fraud perpetrated by some administrators of the universities. “IPPIS taxes rent subsidy, allowances for journals, conferences, hazard etc., as such and for instance, an Associate Professor at the bar pays a tax of about 672 thousand naira per annum. “IPPIS breaches the due process for enrolment in the national housing scheme. IPPIS deducts pensions from the allowances earlier listed. IPPIS breaches university autonomy. IPPIS breaches the law. “The legal instrument to probe corruption in the universities is the Visitation Panels. For almost a decade, ASUU has been clamouring for the constitution of visitation panels to federal universities. “We are told that they are at the point of gazetting the panels for several weeks now. May they will need like another five years to do the gazetting. He, however, advised the FG to work their talk by showing zero tolerance for corruption, even as he decried the proliferation of universities by state governors who could not sustain existing ones. He said: “State governments are proliferating universities without adequate funding for already established ones. Most Vice -Chancellors of state universities are at the beck and call of their visitors, unable to take any decision without recourse to their visitors.” “This struggle is not just for ASUU members. It belongs to the Nigerian people, the masses of this country. We are already down and he that is down has no reason to fear a fall. Let us all stand up for our public universities.” Source :https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/11/were-not-sure-of-reopening-in-2020-%e2%80%95-ASUU-regrets/ |

NO fewer than 20,000 registered members of the Action Peoples Party, APP, State Working Committee, SWC, all Local Government and Ward executives of the party, Tuesday decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the State. Addressing a press conference in Abakaliki, the immediate past Chairman of the APP, Engr Joshua Chinedum Elekwachi stated that his decision to join the fold of the PDP was “borne out of the fact that the Party is unarguably the only political party that truly resonates with the masses, not only in Ebonyi State but also across the country.” According to him, “I am joining PDP to team up and work with the good people of Ebonyi State to retrieve the State from the hands of a very few mercantilist politicians who have personalised governance and impoverished the people of the State for years now.” The former Chairman of the Forum of APP Chairmen in the 36 states of the country including FCT, Abuja, berated the APC-led Federal Government for being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians. He stressed that the APC has failed Nigerians, following its inability to revamp the economy for the benefit of the people. He said: “I am moving to the PDP together with all the members of the State Working Committee, SWC, of APP, all local government and Ward executives and over 20,000 registered members of the party in the State. “Therefore, today, being Tuesday, 17 November 2020, the entire APP structure in Ebonyi State is hereby collapsed into the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. “In the last five years a lot has happened in Ebonyi which made the majority of Ebonyi people to feel highly disenchanted, neglected and sidelined but the time has come, as it pleases the Lord, to remember his people and give them a new song of victory. “To this end, it behoves on all true sons and daughters of Ebonyi to come together and work together under one umbrella to rescue and return the State to the path of genuine peace, unity and prosperity for all.’ Source https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/11/breaking-20000-members-app-chair-others-decamp-to-pdp-in-ebonyi/ |
Sometimes am saddened that some Nigerians are blaming ASUU instead of fg. It shows that we celebrate failure, backwardness and underdevelopment. The government are Evil, satanic, demonic and wicked. They don't regard education in Nigeria as anything. Go to most public universities and see the state of decayed structures. Hostels are eyesore as you will see 22 students in one room. They said there's no money. But there's money to pay the president hardship allowance, they is money to pay legislators for sleeping, there's money to fund Boko Haram, there's money for campaign, there's money to construct rail to another country. But no money for quality education. It's only a demonic Nigerian that will condemn ASUU for this strike. I have always asked those that always say ASUU should look for better ways to press their demands to list one of such ways, yet no answer. Do you know what ASUU do before they embark on strike? When the bird learns to fly without perching, the hunter learns to shoot without missing Note : am still an undergraduate but the course is worth it. We must sacrifice today for a better tomorrow. None of my parents or relatives are lecturers. |
Ghostmode2two:That's not the work of ASUU but the masses. Sometimes i feel Nigerians are comfortable with suffering. If buhari child should be in public school. ASUU won't go on strike even for one day.but here we are blaming people(ASUU) that are fighting for our own good. |
Ghostmode2two:Can you suggest the better option? |

***Faults minister’s claims The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said it has not reached any concrete agreement with the government on how to end its over seven months’ strike. This is just as the union faulted the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, for saying in an interview at the weekend that six out of the nine demands by the union had been met by the government. Speaking in a chat on Sunday with Vanguard, the National President of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, while taking the demands one by one, asked Nigerians to see which one had been met by the government. “As far as we are concerned, nothing has been delivered to our members and our members don’t want empty promises. Let us take the issues one after the other. “The withheld salaries of our members which is between four to eight months have not been paid, if paid, accounts of our members would have been credited. Same for Earned Academic Allowances, yet to be paid. “Visitation Panels have not been constituted for the universities, if that is done, Nigerians would have heard the names of panel members as announced by the government. “The proliferation of universities by state governments has not been addressed. The renegotiation of the 2009 Agreement has not started, the 2019 Memorandum of Action is not yet implemented. “So, on which of these issues has the target beneficiaries seen any concrete action being taken? We are getting to understand the way people in government work. “When they are still discussing with you, they will go to town and tell people what has not been done. Their intention is to paint ASUU as the aggressor. “Which of the issues can anybody say the ball is in ASUU’s court? Are we the ones to pay our withheld salaries and allowances? Are we the ones to set up Visitation Panels? “That is how they went about creating a fake Twitter account for the union and begin to circulate fake news,” he said. Ogunyemi added that the University Transparency and Accountability System, UTAS, being developed by ASUU to replace government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS, was at an advanced stage, but expressed fears that some people wanted to truncate it. On the threat by the minister that the government could invoke labour laws if nothing was agreed to by the two parties soon, Ogunyemi said his union would never feel threatened in any way. “We are ready for discussions if they invite us. The onus of universities reopening soon lies with the government. We go to meetings we are invited to. “They promised that we would meet some days ago and they said they would write to inform us, we waited in vain for their invite. Nothing came,” he stated. Following the game of thrones between Fg and ASUU, i will advise the following 1. Let's stop posting anything about ASUU, even they have meeting don't post, until any year you hear ' strike called off, then you can post' 2. Don't hope that the strike will be called of. A wise man once said " disappointment only comes to those that hope' 3. Get something doing or maybe sales boy or girl, anything that will keep you busy that is good, do it. No dey form boss. 3.5. In case age is not on your side. Marry start adding to our population. Your choice sha 4. God bless all your hustle |
samuelpeters:This month? That's how failed leaders behave.a delicate issue like ASUU strike considering the duration is something they should give Fg days not even weeks like 2days. Didn't you see the way fg was serious when labour threatened. Something like ASUU strike is something they should be having meetings everyday with total seriousness to find a common ground. But here nothing. |
I have been reading that chat for minutes now yet i don't understand. Aaah ASUU has finished me. Please someone should explain |
The meeting will end in deadlock. Now i know that Buhari don't give a damn about education. I have moved, if them like let them strike for 600yrs. It's none of my business |
