PoliticsRe: President Buhari And His School Certificate by Rose2014: 7:01pm On Jun 16, 2016
engrgordon:
PRESIDENT BUHARI AND HIS SCHOOL CERTIFICATE: HE SHOULD SHOW IT.
When I read here on NL someone clamoring again for President Buhari's school certificate, I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair. Politics is a funny game sometimes, even though it is also one of the most serious undertakings of man. Last year during elections, the school certificate of the President was one of the campaign weapons of PDP. I was astonished and I came out full force to chastise PDP. That was the weakest of all the things they could throw at Candidate Buhari. To suggest that a General in a modern army did not have school certificate was childish and even ridiculous. I
never had a doubt about President Buhari's
education. So, PDP goofed when its chief campaign officer focused on Buhari's certificate. Indeed, Dr. Okupe even hammered on such non-issue. When I managed to reach one of the lawyer friends of mind who had joined then in the clamor for Buhari's certificate, I was shocked by what he had
to say. I told him clearly that there was no doubt that General Buhari, being a general in the Nigerian Army, must have had a school certificate. He told me no. He explained to me that in Nigeria, people of certain parts of the country used quoter system to advance people who did not have school certificate
to positions of leadership. "Even to become a
General in the Army", I asked. He was so sure that during Buhari's era, lack of school certificate could not have stopped him from rising in the army to the rank of a General. I was stunned. But I still did not believe my friend. Buhari even had equivalent of Masters Degree from an American institution.
I was happy that the certificate issue did not affect Buhari's chances of becoming the President. But now that he is the President, I am going to take a totally different position on the matter. There are several reasons for the people wanting to see the certificate of their President. Even people who know he has such certificate want to see it and they
should see it. They want to know more about their President. They want to know what he scored in his school certificate. They want to know if he passed on top of his class or on the bottom of his class.
They want to know if he received a lot of "let my people go" in his career advancement. They should know such things. I have read the Nigerian constitution many times on this, and I believe that the critical language is
"equivalent of school certificate". The term
"equivalent of" means that the Constitution is not insisting on school certificate. Anything can be treated as the "equivalent of school certificate". Even a 4-year apprenticeship on any trade can be deemed as "equivalent of school certificate" in so far as someone can argue that during those 4 years, the apprentice was learning valuable skills such as how to count and add money. So, as a
matter of law, President Buhari is more than qualified to be the President based on that issue. Having said that, once Buhari submitted himself to being the President of Nigeria, he also submitted himself to all manner of scrutiny by Nigerians. By running for office, you have invited Nigerians to ask you any question that crosses their minds. And you must respond to those questions. The Americans have been asking President Obama to show his birth certificates. He has shown that so many times and each time, they ask him to show it again. He must continue to respond to those "irresponsible" requests about his birth certificate. That is what is means to be a public officeholder,
particularly the President. Now, Buhari must show his School certificate as many times as the Nigerians would ask for them.
They are no longer asking for it for the purpose of his eligibility to be President. They are now asking for it for the purpose of knowing more about their President. And Buhari should comply with these requests. Let him show his certificate and answer follow-up questions. Anybody who knows that he cannot answer questions about every aspect of his life should NOT try to run for a public office. Such a person should be a private businessperson and nobody would
have right to demand to see his certificates. Every President should produce his certificate - whether birth certificate or school certificate. And if President Jonathan tries to run again, he better produces his never-seen PHD certificate.
I stopped reading when I saw you started out with lies. There's nothing funny about not having ordinary Waec certificate
If you found it funny, you wouldn't be writing this epistle in defence

If oga Bubu found it funny, he wouldn't have hired plenty grin SANs to defend him instead of presenting the much awaited certificate

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Army Reveals The Truth About The Compulsory Retired Army Officers by Rose2014: 10:19am On Jun 13, 2016
popesam1:
THE COMPULSORILY RETIRED NIGERIAN
ARMY OFFICERS.

The attention of the Nigerian Army
has been drawn to speculations and
rumours regarding the number and
names of the senior Army officers
affected in the recent retirement
exercise. This is worrisome as some
individuals and media houses went to
the ridiculous extent of publishing
outrageous figures and names of
serving officers as being retired.

This is unethical and unfair.
It is therefore necessary to inform
the public to please disregard such
inaccurate lists.
We wish to state that only 38 senior
officers were affected by the
retirement exercise.

For the avoidance of doubt the
following is the statistics of the
officers retired compulsorily; 9
Major Generals, 10 Brigadier
Generals, 7 Colonels, 11 Lieutenant
Colonels and a Major.

We are quite aware that some
mischievous elements are trying to
whip up sentiments. This is quite
unfortunate because all the affected
officers were retired based on
Service exigencies and in line with
the Armed Forces Act, CAP A20 Laws
of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

It is pertinent to remind all that
the Nigerian Army is a professional
institution that is based on highest
standards of discipline and conduct.
Consequently it's personnel must
remain professional, neutral and
apolitical at all times.
Before the last Christmas, the President personally told me he would allow me some days off, so I could spend Christmas with my family. Is that a religious bigot? No. In fact, I have never seen anything with the slightest link to bigotry in him. When my mother passed away in 2013, and we held a commendation service for her in Lagos, the then Gen Buhari came, and sat through the Christian service. That is the man for you
you have hit the nail on the head about our deluded Nigerians. They think it is just by word of mouth and prayer that good things happen. They continue to say "why not?" "it will happen", "no more blackouts by....", "it is well" when everything around them is crumbling and we are fast falling into a failed state meanwhile they continue to protect the looters who have destroy the country. They put up pictures of Lagos and say "centre of excellence", maybe they have never travelled or have google to see what "excellence" looks like.

We take pride in foolishness "nigeria is the greatest country in Africa they say" excuse me, as compared to who, Togo, Benin, Congo, I'm bigger than the poor man nextt to me, are these our yardsticks? Nigeria is the curse of Africa because if Nigeria doesn't get it's act .together, Africa can't.

It will happen in time. There is nothing special about that construction. The more an economy grows, the more structures like that you'll find. The Nigerian economy is Africa's largest, so it's only a matter of time. We even have stuff that resembles that already, but not with as many flyovers.
But it will happen, no doubt. If someone had dropped these images below of modern Lagos to folks in 1952, they would have said ''never in a million years''.

PoliticsRe: I Blame Buhari 100% For Nigeria's Current Situation. by Rose2014: 11:36am On Jun 11, 2016
mekaboy:
Someone asked on the other thread if this govt was unlucky or incapable. I say the govt is incapable. I am sure APC Supporters are all waiting to jumping and blame oil and the previous administration for what we are going through today.

They say "time is money" which means if you waste time you waste money. Buhari wasted time in appointment of ministers and budget and automatically wasted money. You will be shocked at the amount of money and investment Nigeria lost due to uncertainty during this delay.

ECONOMY

The oil price was low, we still had some forex coming in from both long term and short term foreign investors. The first thing he would have done was to devalue the Naira. Have enough forex to support businesses and ensure people don't loose their jobs. Also have access to cheap funds from IMF to invest in infrastructure.

But he chose to do strong head and ignore sound advise. Came of up with a forex policy that backfired. scaring away foriegn investors, frustrated local investments, opened the window to speculation, finally results in collapse of businesses and mass sack of employees.

FUEL PRICE

If the forex issue was handled wisely, by now there would be enough forex for importers. Even if there wasn't, the price of the dollar would be less than what it is today if they choose to buy from parralel market.

Even if subsidy is removed, people still have their jobs and businesses running. The effect of the removal won't be so much and fuel will still be less than 145. He took another strong head approach by believing he can do without the importers and supply the whole country through NNPC.

The importers instead of working with govt, stepped back and watched the fuel scarcity bite. He went on forcing people who bought fuel for more than 86 naira to sell N86 even when he did not supply them. All this just to get fake glory for APC. Let people say APC is better than Gej, by selling 86 . A price that does not reflect through economic situation. Finally he has seen he can't do without importers.

He now asked them to source forex from parralel market that has been taken over by speculators who took advantage of the govt's confusion and wrong decisions.

SECURITY

Gej knowing that there was alot of imbalance in the Nigerian system, needed to provide a win win situation for all. He called for a national conference to discuss how best we can live together as one. There was representatives from all regions and an agreement was reached on a report.

A President who took over from the ruling party, should first reconcile every grieving party, both those that voted for and against him. Make everyone have a sense of belonging and equality. He said he belong to everybody and belongs to nobody. The next minute he is talking about 5% vote from a region and 95% from another. Whether he was quoted out of context or not. Such a statement should not have even come out of his mouth in the first place.

He disregarded the confab report, even when members of APC such as pastor Tunde Bakare recommended the implementation. He left the biafrans to boil, left the Niger delta Militants to boil, allowed the economic hardship escalated, halted economic activities and went off to fight corruption.

Today we have an explosion. BokoHaram, biafran agitation, Niger delta avengers and a wrecked economy.

All because the president will not listen to marketers, listen to sound economic reasoning, ignore agitation from various parts.

After all the damage has been done, they host a fun fair in ogoni land in the name of kicking of the cleanup without committing financially. Brought out 500 billion to be thrown into the wind in the name of palliative.

Obasanjo not me, said he was not a good adminstrator, yet Nigerians were brainwashed to vote.

They blamed everyone but themselves. Politicised our economic team and today they have wrecked havoc on the nation.

So though oil price was low, it is rising now but Naira keeps falling. This is a result of confusion and lack of economic direction. If PMB reconciled every grieving part of the nation, maybe there won't be avengers and we will benefit from increasing oil price.

What we have lost due to poor management, even if all looted funds from abacha regime is recovered, it will not compare to the loss in 1 year.

So don't tell me oil or Niger delta avengers. The president is to be blamed 100%. He is now coming back to accept to do all he was advised to do ever since. After causing damage to our economy.
Well said bro

After wading one year on blaming all the blamables, now they're blaming it on themselves- that they talked too much during campaign
This govt is shameless walahi
