forgiveness: Getting rid of those gates and fences is essential to creating room for wide sidewalks. The security-conscious business owners will need an assurance of 24 hour police patrols and high tech surveillance of the streets to protect their businesses. This is what happens in business districts around the world. 8 Likes |

Ykc2: I've been travelling since before you were born. Kindly drop the snide remarks. Who said (or cares about if) westerners go to Jamaica ''to visit Kingston'' and what has that got to do with the thrust of my post? ''Vienna city'' is a dull, antiquated place of medieval architecture that only a colonised African will value over modern, vibrant, colourful, bustling African cities like Nairobi. samincredible44: Once you build the street infrastructure properly, no dirt or sand can ever be on the streets because you've blocked out all leakages. You just need a sweeper truck to clear the debris from the road every night. 7 Likes 1 Share |

NigeriaIsDoomed: You are clearly very ignorant about ''the black race'', and take your cue from the scandalously negative reporting of ''the black race'' in WESTERN MEDIA. For your information, Kigali, Rwanda is one of the cleanest cities in the world, not just in Africa. It is black people that are running Kigali. Kingston, Jamaica is a black-run city. All streets, including in poor areas, are paved with sidewalks and covered drains, with no sand on the streets. Nairobi, Kenya is a black-run city that can stand beside any city on Earth in aesthetics and city planning. Abuja, Nigeria is a purpose-built, black-run city that is the pride of all Africa. The same black world you condemn, literally MILLIONS of westerners visit it every year as tourists, visiting countries from Jamaica to Barbados, and from Kenya to Senegal, Tanzania, Ghana, Botswana, and Seychelles. When WE travel, we need to get our colonised noses away from ''Dubai'', ''New York'', ''London'', and ''Paris''. Visit the Gambia instead. There are resorts in the Gambia that will make you think you are in Paradise. Visit Nairobi. Or Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Or Dakar, Senegal. Or Port Of Spain, Trinidad. Or Zanzibar, Tanzania. Or Luanda, Angola. Or Montego Bay, Jamaica. These places are beautiful African locations worthy of vacationing by you as an African. White people leave their countries and travel thousands of miles away to vacation in these places. You that are close to them are not even aware of their existence and/or value. Your head is stuck in Dubai and Los Angeles. And Paris. The black world is beautiful. Quit the self-denigration and start to love your own. 43 Likes 6 Shares |

Some guy posted a video of Allen Ave, top Lagos shopping, dining, and banking district and told us to ''enjoy'' the video. But the street is quite deplorable in its infrastructure. The shops, restaurants etc are high class, and deserve far better street infrastructure. Watch the Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_5k5ZIz4nM Allen Avenue, Opebi Rd axis needs a MASSIVE OVERHAUL and comprehensive redevelopment. Allen Ave. should be the Oxford Street of Lagos. A high class shopping area with covered drainage and wide pedestrian sidewalks. The streets are seriously underutilized by way of window shopping and impulse shopping that comes with easy pedestrian movement along the streets, a feature that would draw thousands more people including tourists, to the area each day, increase economic activity and incomes for the businesses on the streets and hence more business tax to the state govt. Win-win situation. Here's how Allen Ave. and Opebi Road should really look today: ![]() With THIS kind of setup above, one could literally spend ALL DAY walking the length and breadth of Allen and Opebi on window shopping and actual shopping/wining/dining. Today, that is unimaginable due to the lack of sidewalks, presence of open drains, sand, etc etc. We need to step up our game, seriously. 12 Likes 1 Share |

ElvisPresley: Typical self-hating, ignorant African dunce. Go on YouTube and see videos of beautiful African cities from Kigali to Nairobi, Maputo, Luanda, Abidjan, Abuja, Cape Town, and many others, but no. Will inferiority complex let you appreciate your own continent? It must be Dubai or Florida. Bunch of useless people. |

StaffofOrayan: You are a thoughtless toad to be repeating the same stupid mantra of demanding a ''plan''. Who should draw up your ''plan''? The current APC govt? Buhari? And then what happens to the ''plan'' if PDP or another party wins the election, and then revises or alters (or ditches) the ''plan'', as would be their right? You would then call it a ''fraudulent plan'', wouldn't you? And blame 'Nigeria' for it. Your head is steeped in negativity. It is YOU that is ''childish''. No, there is no specific ''plan'' for the country because the country is a democracy which makes any plan beyond 4 years subject to change by an incoming party, and rightfully so. Nigeria's development goals are no secret, and are the same as any other country's - self sufficiency in food, good educational system, improved security, healthcare and sanitation, and industrialisation. The UN Human Development Index is a guide for all nations on improving the basic living standards of their people, and Nigeria is a signatory to that. What other ''plan'' do you want? 4 years is what a party gets to implement its policies towards achieving those human development objectives, and 8 years if they do well. End Of. |

SenecaTheYonger: Absolute rubbish. 200 billion dollars over 4 years (ie 40 billion a year) for a 200 million population is PEANUTS, and will not get you out of underdevelopment even without corruption. Our number one challenge is to raise national earnings through diversification away from oil and gas. Nigeria's annual budget is 35 billion dollars. By contrast, South Africa's is 125 billion. UK, 849 billion USA....... 6.1 TRILLION dollars. We are nowhere near as rich as we think we are. 2 Likes |

StaffofOrayan: You talk like an ignoramus with no common sense. And you're clearly suffering from racial complex. Why do you need to LIE that Nigeria has no plan to improve electricity supplies? That is a barefaced lie. The moment you introduce lies and inaccuracies into your posts you become irrelevant to this debate. That you do not know the plan for electricity doesn't mean it doesn't exist. OnIy means YOU are too lazy and filled with negativity to research your own country while being gladly aware of all that's happening in ''Israel'', and ''America''. Go online and RESEARCH things going on in your country before making stupid comments. |

B3ACHSIDE: Bullshit. ''Overpopulation'' is a MYTH. In fact, HISTORY shows us that the world becomes MORE prosperous the more people are in it. Excerpts from 'Debunking the Myth of Overpopulation': Era ...................... Earth Population 1000 AD ................ 190 million 1500 AD ................ 450 million 1900 AD ................ 1,600 million 1950 AD ................. 2,500 million 2000 AD .................. 6,143 million If population alarmists were right, this history would be an unmitigated catastrophe with people getting poorer and poorer from some imaginary golden age of prosperity a thousand years ago. In fact the exact opposite is the case. Here are the figures for per capita GDP using the measure of 1990 International Geary–Khamin dollars, used by Angus Maddison for historical and international comparisons: 1000 AD ...................... 436 IGK $ 1500 AD ................... 566 IGK $ 1900 AD ................... 1525 IGK $ 1950 AD .................... 2111 IGK $ 2001 AD ...................... 6049 IGK $ .......'' http://www.rebelnews.ie/2020/05/20/debunking-the-myth-of-overpopulation/ |

StaffofOrayan: What do you mean ''what is Nigeria's 10 year plan?'' That is an absurd question that presupposes Nigeria has a Life President or is under One Party rule that can outline a ''10 year plan'' for the country. Or a ''20 year plan''. That sort of thinking derives from our history of military rule, during which such ''development plans'' were frequently outlined by dictators. Interesting you mentioned North Korea. A brutal military dictatorship. They can have a long term 'plan' since they do not share power with anyone. Wakey Wakey..... Nigeria is a multi-party democracy, and leaders are subjected to the vote every 4 years. They cannot ''plan'' beyond the date the electorate declare they should pack and go. The winning party will now enact its own ''plan'' over the next 4 years, and if their ''plan'' goes well, they get another 4 years. If not, another party wins and enacts its own ''plan''. That is the way the system is structured. And deliberately so, to ensure accountability, and that the people are carried along in whatever the country is doing. Every developing nation on earth, including Nigeria, is working to become a developed nation. |

MetaPhysical: Nigeria is not being ''praised'' in the report. All they are doing is making a projection based on current economic and population growth rates. You see it as ''praise'' because you already have a low opinion of the country, and expect any predictions to be dire and negative. Leave your negative mindset behind and you will see clearer. 1 Like |

Short sighted moro.ns that can't see beyond their narrow ethnic prism. DO YOU REALISE THE AMOUNT OF INVESTMENT AND CAPITAL THAT WOULD FLOW INTO THIS COUNTRY from across the world if and when it becomes a MAJOR POWER? The 2ND Most populous nation on Earth?? Industrialisation, development, and economic growth will simply become A MATTER OF COURSE. An unstoppable TSUNAMI. Spain's population to halve and Nigeria to be dominant global power within 80 years, report predicts ''By the end of the century, the world will be multipolar, with India, Nigeria, China, and the US the dominant powers.'' - Sky News, UK 15 July 2020 The global population is likely to shrink after the middle of this century, triggering shifts in economic power, a new report suggests. There will be around 9.7 billion people on the planet by 2064, but that number will decrease to 8.8 billion by the year 2100, according to a new report in medical journal The Lancet. The analysis says that improvements to modern contraceptive methods and the increasingly widespread education of women could be a catalyst for a decline in global fertility rates. ..Populations in 23 countries, including Japan, Spain and Italy, are forecast to decline by more than half, according to the research, with another 34 countries, including China, seeing a drop of more than 25%. However, sub-Saharan Africa will buck the trend, and is set to see growth of more than three times its current population, thanks to falling death rates in the region and the rising number of women reaching child-bearing age. Across the world, over-80s are set to outnumber under-fives by a factor of two-to-one by 2100, marking a shift in the working age population. Countries such as China, Spain, the UK and Germany are all expected to see a dramatic drop in the size of their workforce, resulting in a slowing of economic growth that will open the way for African and Arab countries to take the lead economically.. Dr Richard Horton, editor in chief of The Lancet, said: "This important research charts a future we need to be planning for urgently. "It offers a vision for radical shifts in geopolitical power, challenges myths about immigration, and underlines the importance of protecting and strengthening the sexual and reproductive rights of women. The 21st century will see a revolution in the story of our human civilisation. "Africa and the Arab World will shape our future, while Europe and Asia will recede in their influence. By the end of the century, the world will be multipolar, with India, Nigeria, China, and the US the dominant powers. China will fall from top to third place in the table, with its population set to fall by more than 25%. Nigeria, which currently has the seventh-highest population in the world, will rocket up to second place by 2100, while the Japanese population will plummet from the 10th to 38th. "This will truly be a new world, one we should be preparing for today." https://news.sky.com/story/decline-in-fertility-will-see-global-population-shrink-triggering-radical-shifts-in-economic-power-report-12028364 |

light099: You are a complete DUNCE, just like the idiots who liked your rotten, spiteful post. Where did you get the 95% - 5% figures? Out of Uranus? You must be a really sad fellow to see PROGRESS and spit on it. Nigeria is a DEVELOPING COUNTRY, in the same company as 80% of nations on earth. There is NOTHING to be ashamed of in being from a developing nation. Corruption, mismanagement, social unrest, poverty, are all part and parcel of being a DEVELOPING NATION. So also are wealth, development projects, political evolution (when was the last time you heard of a coup in Nigeria?) etc etc. ACCEPT YOU COME FROM A DEVELOPING NATION. You are not America. Or Britain. Or Germany. Your annual budget is 35 billion USD based on mostly oil and gas earnings. The USA's annual budget is 6.1 TRILLION dollars. Japan 1.7 trillion dollars Germany, 1.6 trillion dollars France, 1.4 trillion dollars UK, 847 billion dollars. Spain, 535 billion dollars Nigeria, 35 billion dollars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_government_budget Nigeria is NOT a rich country. With or without corruption, we would still struggle to develop. Our main challenge is to raise national income via diversification from oil and gas. When a 2nd skyscraper goes up in Uyo, a place that was virtually a village a few years back, it is a sign of a BUSINESS FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT, and of the slow but steady economic transformation of the region it represents, and by extension, of the country.
