Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How To Create A Killer Freelancer Profile | Sourcegig.com by Roviarsguide(m): 3:19pm On Sep 10, 2016
oteneaaron:
You need to create a killer Freelancer Profile to be able to Convince Employers to give you their Jobs to Handle.

It is necessary to learn how to Create a killer Freelancer profile, because it is an excellent opportunity to sell your skills to the next employer. Employers are looking for freelancers they can trust to always deliver, that is why your profile has to show that you are skilled and trustworthy. Always remember that you are talking through your profile, so talk well, better still pitch well!

Here are few tips to help you create a killer Freelancer profile :

1. Image –

They say a picture speaks a thousand words. That is why you have to choose a picture that will speak a thousand words to your potential Employers. Choose photos that depict you as professional and ready to work. Don’t choose photos that will irk off Employers before they even click on your profile.

2. Professional Title –

Your professional title defines what you do. If you are a Software Developer, state clearly that you are a Software Developer, if you are a Digital Marketer, state clearly that you are a Digital Marketer. Know the description that fits what you do and stick to that. When Employers tell you that they are looking for an article writer, what they mean is Content Writer, so don’t describe yourself as an Article Writer, this limits you and you also know that Content Writer is the appropriate description.

3. Hourly Rate –

You hourly rate is how much you charge per hour for every job executed, don’t under-price or overprice yourself. Include hourly rates that will also match Employer’s bid.

4. Your Skills-

This is where you include a broad display of what you can do. Always remember to include all the skills that correspond with your professional title. A Digital Marketer can include, SEO, Google AdWords, Social Media Marketing, Email Marketing etc. All these skills perfectly match the professional title of Digital Marketing.

5. Category-

Every Skills set has a category that best explains it. You can choose from several categories which include Content development, content marketing, graphic design, illustration and digital content. Here you also have the option of choosing to receive emails about projects that match your category.

6. Country –

Ensure the country of residence is chosen so your potential employer knows your location.

7. About You –

Your “About You” is the most vital aspect of creating a killer Freelancer profile. You don’t need to write a long life of achievements or copy and paste your entire CV. Just include the best specifics that tallies with your professional title. Eg If you are Web Designer, do a brief introduction and focus on your Web Design experience and certifications and qualification you possess in this field.

8. Your Experience –

Input the number of years you have been working in that field. Displaying your years of experience tells your Employer that you know your onions.

9. State of Residence and Phone Number-

Input your state of residence and phone number. Your state of residence is where you currently reside.

10. Your Portfolio –

A portfolio is a collection of documents and writing that you assemble in order to demonstrate that you are appropriately experienced in that field. You can create Presentation Slides or PDF File of your previous successful projects. This is why you have to put your best foot forward.

What do you think? How do you create your own killer Freelance Profile?

I believe how you present yourself as a freelancer really determines if your bid is accepted...

Hello Friends, we all have accounts on facebook, twitter, instagram and the others..but these social media giants push adsin front of us, and make their billions off our content.....for every selfie, comment, like , share , tweet....name it...they get all the money.

But what if you were on a social media that paid you for all of that? just by been social? The network is called TSU (pronounced SUE ) according to wikipedia, : " The inspiration for Tsu came from the story of Ed O’Bannon, the lead plaintiff in O’Bannon v. NCAA, an antitrust class action lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association regarding the association’s use of the images of former student athletes for commercial purposes."

The network pays their members 90% of their ad revenue........

To register (free), you have to be invited.........

It just makes more sense. If you’re going to be active on a social network, be active on the one that pays you to do so.

In as much as this post is short, i get the gist of this post ......sometime ago, i watch a video on youtube talking about online harassment and people been threatened online.....and if you guys remember, during the last election....many people received death threats online...now is that permissible?

Should the social media we practically spend all time on be a place where our lives are threatened?.........

Or what if as a Woman you find Nude Pictures of yourself posted on a P*rn website will you sue the poster ? or is there a law that protects US online?.........this issue the OP brought out is serious and we should think about it....i guess it's only when you face a real death threat or when you are bullied online ...only then will you understand this post. Nice one @OP.........

The Ebola vaccine known as VSV-EBOV has today after trial shown extremely positive results , in a press release, the WHO said that the vaccine has so far demonstrated “100% efficacy in individuals”, although there will be further research done to determine if it will be effective at conferring the herd immunity that keeps whole populations safe from infections, even among populations of whom are not vaccinated.

It is also said that trials will continue but without randomization.... according to nairaonline, com.ng , "this means that in Guinea, where there have been 3,786 cases and 2,520 confirmed deaths, every contact of a person who develops Ebola – and their contacts – will be offered it. Work in Gabon has now established that the vaccine is safe for children and adolescents, so they will be offered it too."

Hello friends and fellow webmasters, today i am presenting a concept to you guys...a concept that would earn you some extra cash online.....

We all know that social networks and Facebook..twitter and others make money from OUR content....for each post...each picture...each selfie...each video...these guys make billions of dollars....last year, facebook made a whopping $3.6 billion!! Its no joke....

What if you find a social media network that actually pays you for your content........and the people you refer to the network?

I did my research and it's no pyramid scheme.....its unlike those so-called pay for referral schemes...... the website is TSU dot CO(tsu.co)

Big name sites like MacWorld, ZDNet and ABCNews have had favorable write-ups about it. It also has a Wikipedia page. It started in September of 2014 and reached 1 million users in 5 weeks (it took Facebook 10 months to reach that number). Now, less than one year later, it has more than 5 million members.

And that includes famous members like New York Knicks basketball star Carmelo Anthony, rapper 50 Cent, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and more!!

This is how TSU.CO works....

the network understands that what makes them money is ad revenue. The more people interacting on their site and seeing the ads and clicking through, the more money they make. (Facebook is well aware of this, too, they just don't pay you anything for making them billions of dollars even though you're helping them do it.)

So to encourage you to do all of your social networking on Tsu instead of Facebook or the other networks, they decided to share that revenue with their members.

Now the upside is that you can only register through someone....that is you must have been referred by someone.....and the chain continues as you refer others and they refer others too.....how cool can this be?

Here is the link to my TSU.CO page (i got registered yesterday too, i was referred by a fellow internet marketer......)

http://www.tsu.co/Roviar

I would like you guys to do your own research on this network before making any leap....i did my own backgroud check and o thought to share it with you guys......

Goodmorning.

Everyone on this Webmaster's forum knows that search engine optimization is a must-know.....must-practice for every website owner out there.
Yea Yea, content is important and all but, to get organic traffic you need SEO.

As suprising as it may sound, the search engine giants Google, are looking to hire an SEO expert to improve it's search engine ranking( for it's numerous websites.)
The job posting can be found on their career page ( https://www.google.com/about/careers/search#!t=jo&jid=120105001)

According to the post,: “As a Program Manager for Technical SEO, you will work with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Engineering and more to help drive organic traffic and business growth. You will take part in website development and optimization, help shape blog and social strategy, improve website code hygiene and define web architecture for international websites."

Well they are some reasons to why Google ( the brain behind search engine optimization) is looking to hire an SEO specialist....(i'll mention 2)

First, they have been recurring talks that post rankings on Google are not really reflected....for example if you search for some keywords...the first website you mostly see are Google owned websites..and this amounts to cheating (according to some critics)

Second, Google fears the "extinction factor" (my words) .....the online world is becoming more and more elaborate and Google's grip on the Search engine market according to analyts is facing serious threats fro other search engines---- Bing Ask, search start etc. And more and more advertisers do not trust google's algorithm ranking (with refrence to the first reason)....

Simply put....GOOGLE WANTS TO PLAY FAIR...

well Critics still bring up a more pertaining question....

This SEO expert google wants to Hire will put google at the more advantaged position because the expert will be let in on Tips and tricks form Google....and wading thru SEO loopholes won't be an issue.....so is that still fair play?

i would like to hear your views on this SEO sensitive matter.

most people find internet marketing difficult because they usually have unrealistic expectations like hoping to make $1000 daily(no thanks to some internet marketers) without putting much effort.

the truth is, being an internet marketer is quite similar to owning your own offline business. in the beginning you have to do all the work at the most odd hours. you have to be the first awake and the last to go to bed. and you also have to be able to continue working till you make a sale.

unfortunately, most people are more content earning a salary. Its more certain(in the short term at least) that you'll get paid at the end of the month as long as you resume for work

Hello,

If people on webmaster section do not understand such a wonderful insight to SEO and how it affects businesses, then I wonder how an ordinary client would understand. Seriously, if you do not understand this post, you really don't have any business being a webmaster to say the least.

Infact, the fact that you don't understand this post validates the OP's claim on SEO ignorance in Nigeria.
Meanwhile OP, I really feel you and your line of thought in this regard. I am an SEO expert and I share your views.
To a large extent, I think some clients just need you to be able to prove to them empirically why they need to invest in SEO.

Deploying some tools that will do keyword analysis, competition analysis, website audits etc will surely get them thinking.
Show them how they are performing with their competitors side by side on search engine results with various keywords will get some thinking.
Moreso, most of the websites out there are not even SEO ready. So where do u wanna start from when the clients do not even know the site is nothing to write home about.
Like you rightly said, they will rather spends hundreds of thousands and even millions to place a billboard which impact you cannot measure.
I once saw a billboard and a full page advert for a company, their website is not even stated. What a waste of money? Anyway, just keep the awareness going. They will realise the need one day, that's if they r still in business anyway .

truer words have never been spoken..thanks for the encouraging comment friend.....Yes when they realize the need for SEO and other important website optimization tips...it would already be too late because the Internet waits for no slow poke businenessman/woman...... cool cool

Nice post, can you advice on my blog? it just a site that reviews gadget. take a look http://gadgetreviewsng.com/

Hey bro...nice website....i like your gadget reviews...especially the star wars part.......

BUT....you need to work on your internal links.....try to link your articles together...what do i mean? when you link a phrase or sentence in a post/article to another onn your website...thats internal linking....it helps in Search Engine Optimization...because when Search engine spider bots crawl your website, these internal links keep them crawling through and this keeps your website on the ranking radar of search engine spider bots.......

Also i like the way you added your affiliate links at the end of each post...but make it more attractive...your visitors trust your judgement and they will be willing to hear what you have to say.......also write articles that compel your visitors to buy these gadgets......topic like "3 reasons why you must buy xxxx" it's daring and humans are naturally inquisitive.........

Finally ...your google ads are not loading fine.....try to optimize your pictures so that your website can load faster........there is a plugin on wordpress that you can use to make your website run faster.........

i'll post the tutorial (on that plugin) on Nairaland later this evening.

And try to frequent the Nairaland phone section....go and storm the section with your expertise and people will rush to your website to hear what else you have to say............

To your blogging sucess,

source:http://www.roviarsguide.com/seo/5-enemies-of-search-engine-optimization-in-nigeria

After my point by point analysis of Top 7 tips for Search Engine Optimization, i decided to approach SEO from a different angle and discuss the enemies of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This time I will talk about a big obstacle that exist in Nigeria, for the development of organic positioning, customers / companies. There are different types of customers and different excuses or problems that arise when doing SEO, but there is a common denominator in all of these hindrances: IGNORANCE.

Enemies of Search Engine Optimization in Nigeria:

1. The Market: “Search Engine Optimization is not for me, I don’t need to appear on Google”

As a first consideration, this statement is true. Not everyone can benefit from your work on SEO. Maybe it may not be immediately obvious, Search Engine Optimization does not always to increase traffic, sales and brand presence, there are some (few) markets that are beyond analysis. For them, this does not account for their customer turn out and this is true in some cases.

Many times I have met entrepreneurs and corporate executives with this thought that there’s no need for their businesses to be visible in search engines. And the first big mistake of this is to draw conclusions from their potential market precisely without doing an analysis. In most cases, one can say without hesitation that someone who personally does not use the usual search engines will not be considered a standard for your industry.

They ask: “If I do not use SEO, and my competitor does not use it, will i use SEO because my clients would use it?” (Question for the gods).

It’s quite difficult convincing these business Owners to consider Search Engine Optimization because they feel : "that’s the way things are and have always been” It is difficult to reason with people like that, most of the time when they change their mind (if it ever changes), it’s because someone close to them said their business got good sales from results obtained through search engines. It is illogical to continue with their logic: “I do what others do, when SEO is popular i will do it,” without raising a conscious analysis of whether it is actually useful for your business.

2.”I want to be first on Google for X”

Where X is the most generic keyword that they may be useful to your industry. This another form of attentive ignorance against same result you would expect, because sometimes it is impossible to achieve e.g (“I want to be first on Google for auto” when your business is from a small town, with a budget).
But sometimes it is achieved, but the result is not the desired one e.g (“your company ranked first in using the keyword ‘wheat flour” but you own a bakery and half of the people searching are looking for the manufacturers of “wheat flour”). It is often the next step to deny the usefulness of Google, going from not caring at all, to wanting to be first for anything (as if Google was something that only a few know and nobody would have thought of being first before on the same search ). This is pure lack of knowledge, nothing more.

3.”We want to be market leaders and we have $100 for full use of it”

Why can’t my Business appear on Google for free? and why should I spend to be to be in the top positions? You know there is what we call the “Nigerian Factor” where most business owners are not ready to employ (professional) Search Engine Optimization Experts to boost their online sales. The volume of investment needed in Search Engine Optimization to achieve a goal will depend on many factors, but if the client does not understand this, then things will definitely go wrong.

It is amazing how here in Nigeria, we undervalue technical and creative work on some things, and hyper-value other things that do not bring desired results. Creating a graphic piece for publication for adverts on television can cost much more, than if that same graphic piece goes to Facebook. Do you understand the logic ?? The effort and the work are similar, but the latter brings in more conversions to your business. After all, there are more Nigerians online on Facebook than those watching the television (quote me if I’m wrong) But Search Engine Optimization is not magic… something that not many understand despite the fact that SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION has been around for more than 20 years of the existence of search engines (The first search engine of the web, Wandex was released in 1993).

4.”Our priority is the offline market”

While this may be true, people who are offline beings all have an online life. Again, this argument lacks a basis in data, and is based on a completely subjective opinion. If there was a market study that determined that the target audience does not use search engines at least to get to your product or service, then it is valid to consider a better investment destination before you do it digitally. But if, for example, 97% of people with internet in Argentina frequently use a search engine (data from the “Digital Future, Argentina 2013″ by ComScore), this means that the previous statement is increasingly at least suspect.

5.”I want this and I want it now”

The objectives maybe coherent and well formulated, but if an immediate result is intended, you can choose to only promote ads. There are no magic solutions in SEO, let alone instant solutions. This can cause a very rapid disillusionment and the business owners who may end up having issues with their SEO specialist.. Managing expectations is key to SEO, and again, customer ignorance often is the cause of these issues.

Well friends, this is my analysis of our local SEO clients, many jobs fail to materialize for these reasons and while many may begin, before long it ends with customer frustration.

I hope that this will help our local SEO experts to be more aware of the difficulties that still exist in our NIGERIAN market. These difficulties start from ignorance; the worst enemy of Search Engine Optimization in Nigeria. Listen to opinions, open a dialogue with your client as a first step to advance smiley.
I would really welcome comments, because this an issue for most SEO experts here in NIGERIA.

Jorge turned out to be a very unassuming man, someone you might refer to as a believer in the doctrine of Buffettism (from Warren Buffett). Since he had a few hours to burn he couldn't help but jump on Jorge's invitation to go see what his typical day felt like.

After a few transactions at the bank, Jorge made towards the Sheraton in the middle of town, where they can have Brunch. He parked his car at the park below Silverbird Galleria, and both walked on foot towards Ladi Kwali where the Sheraton Hotel is located, using an overhead pedestrian bridge (which also had an adjoining structure that allowed for trolleys to be used), from where the Musa Yaradua Centre and the National Mosque can be seen in it's full glory. The roof of the Musa Yaradua Centre made of SOLAR POWER PANELS generates the electricity with which the building is run. It saddened him greatly, that Nigeria's wealthy aren't using their wealth to promote the use of GREEN ENERGY, even when they can afford it. If only more wealthy people can follow this Musa Yaradua Centre example, like Senator-Elect Ben Murray Bruce with his battery powered car, is currently doing, Nigeria could be saved much of the damage that's been done to the environment with the heavy carbon footprints, especially with our heavy dependence on fossil fuels, a reason for which Nigeria was shut down a few days back, because of unavailability of petroleum products. One can only hope that the events of the past few days will encourage the wealthy individuals, companies, corporations and conglomerates to consider alternative power sources that can be tailored to meet their basics, while they may still stick with the heavy environment-polluting fuel for that which will require huge sums of money to tinker with, or impossible to change, for now.

He was surprised that they were the only pedestrians using the bridge, while others simply risked their life crossing the road below, to the other side where Sheraton Hotel was located. Jorge was particularly saddened by those crossing the road when there was an overhead bridge they could use. He kept quiet knowing he was guilty of same several times in Lagos. He was even apprehended at some point by members of a Task Force, saddled with the responsibility to discourage pedestrians from crossing the road under pedestrian bridges at the ONIPANU and PALMGROVE areas of Lagos, but was released minutes after, having greased the palms of the head of the team. One time he decided to obey the rules and climb the bridge, he found at the top that he was panting, with shortness of breath, even palpitations, which informed his renewed efforts at daily exercise, for which he bought himself a TRACKBAND to measure his steps as well as amounts of sleep daily. He hadn't been a fan of watches but if he ever wanted a watch, his Trackband was something that also fulfilled that purpose, one good reason to wear a watch that was for him.

While Jorge's angst was with the pedestrians who refused to use the pedestrian bridge, he took umbrage at those who turned the covered parts at the foot of the pedestrian bridge into their toilet, leaving those who manage to use the bridge to bear the stench from their "uncharitable work". Maybe, he thought, that may have contributed to some other pedestrians who might have wished to use the bridge, staying away from it, but the situation itself would've been helped had the authorities in charge had taken it upon themselves to ensure that the place is kept clean (especially seeing that the bridge is right beside a prestigious hotel in Nigeria's capital), and examples made of the "crazies" who have no iota of shame in executing their shameful act in public.

Once they had negotiated their way out of there and into the comfy surroundings of the Sheraton he felt good and began to have fun again. He fed his eyes with the ambient surroundings while Jorge visited the offices of some European airlines in the lobby to secure tickets for an impending journey. Afterwards, they moved on to the swimming pool area of the hotel, where they had to make do with some drinks while waiting for Lunch, after having missed breakfast.

There was no dull moment between them,as almost all subjects was touched upon, ranging from politics, to religion, to economics, commerce, money, relationships, family life, everything; in between drinks, plates of goat peppersoup, hot bread with butter and peanuts.

Interestingly, not many Nigerians were there at the time of the day to enjoy the peace of the serene environment, or use the pool, or the equipments at the gym opposite the pool and the restaurant, like the Caucasians that were spending the time and facilities, for leisure and for business. Even Nigeria's wealthy don't know how to enjoy themselves!

Soon it was time to go, having burnt his extra time before his scheduled appointment, they made to leave, again via the pedestrian bridge then to Silverbird Galleria, this time he didn't pay much heed to the foot of the pedestrian bridge, but noticed that the ARTS VILLAGE which had been closed on their way to the Sheraton earlier in the day, had opened and several works of art were on display, ranging from woodwork (calabashes, masks and the likes), metal work using brass (of images and items of cultural values), Tye and Dyed pieces of clothing and the likes.

He wondered how much he'd make if he were to manage to ship the artefacts abroad especially for the European Art Market, which he knows is already saturated with artifacts from Africa, almost immediately the thought that he would also be able to get the same and better works of art in other parts of Nigeria at a much cheaper rate than in the highbrow Art Village of Abuja dampened his enthusiasm, hence he didn't bother to haggle with the exhibitors.

He simply took pictures of the items on display, maybe sometime in the nearest future he will have cause to revisit and even make some business of and with what they have on display.

He stopped taking pictures when he noticed that some of the exhibitors weren't too happy with his shots, especially since he didn't appear to them like he had the intention of buying. He also had had enough, and walked up to a waiting Jorge who found the whole scenario amusing.

Away from the Arts Village, Jorge gave him a lift to Berger Bus Stop, where he got a cab that took him to Nyanya where he could get another cab to Keffi, in the neighboring state of Nasarawa, also in Nigeria's North-Central, where he had a business deal to seal later that day.
