But it's absolutely not normal for him to have been doing it for himself 'consistently' for the past five years.

There must be something wrong somewhere. Even if the wife doesn't know how to cook, five years is long enough for him to have taught her his own special recipes.

By the grace of God, I've got two sons. Tho still quite young, I always instruct them to be of good behavior daily, just as my mom did many years ago.
