Below is a mail response from a Member of Parliament, a friend shared with me over delayed response from IRCC regarding his Study Visa...

"Good day,

Thank you for your email. As you currently reside outside of Canada, we regret that we are unable to assist you.

We encourage you to direct your inquiry to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) via the webform found at the link: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp 'IRCC Web Form: Contact us online’.

Thank you"

Just wanted to find out if only when one resides in Canada, he/she can contact an MP for information / inquiries, because many has advised in the group to send mail to MP, especially after several mails / webforms to IRCC and no response..

Yes you need to send a mail to each of the email addresses not only Lagos

Note that you are to send the email one by one to each email address, don't copy all the e-mail addresses at once and paste it on the TO section of your mail to send, it won't go.

In the links below are samples of mail you can draft and send to those email addresses and webforms based on your situation

Hello,

For your better understanding to your question, you may need to read up from the link https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=177&top=17

All the best

Thanks @Ketima

I got the response I needed from the link you sent, which says " You may be eligible for an open work permit if you....are the spouse or common-law partner of a skilled worker or international student ", which I simply believe a STUDY VISA/PERMIT ought to be approved first for your partner, before you can proceed to apply for SOWP, that is if the application for both was done together at the beginning.

Thanks.

Good evening my fellow Nairalanders......

A quick question; Is it possible for someone to visit Qlife clinic for medicals without appointment, especially when all the days for the month has been fully booked?

Do I stand a chance of being attended to, or I will be bounced for visiting without appointment?

Thanks as I expect a feedback from the experienced guys.....

Oluwole opened his eyes after a surgical operation and breathed: "Thank God it's over!"

A man on the other side of his bed said: "Don't be so sure yet, they forgot a syringe in my belly and had to open it again."
.
Another patient added: "Same with me, but mine was a pack of cotton wool."
.
Oluwole then paused for a moment and said: "It’s like I'm feeling a vibration in my stomach."
.
Almost immediately, the doctor who did the operation stormed in and asked: "Has anyone seen my mobile phone?"

The Teller looked at him, smile and politely replied: "Sir, it's for your finger when you use the ATM".

Health / Covid-19 : Why We Should Avoid Ankara Face Masks..... by royalzee: 12:08am On May 05, 2020
Face masks or Nose masks as people fondly call it has become a basic necessity in our society today. The need for people to protect themselves from contamination has made many result to wearing various forms of face masks, some of which offer little or no protection.

Fashion has found its way into the need for safety as people have started using Ankara materials to make face masks for reasons which include; making their mask match their outfit, re-usability, and accessibility. The current face mask fashion trend has even resulted in people putting on gas masks as protection against the virus.

Are Ankara face masks actually safe?

This is the big question. There are essential qualities a good face mask is supposed to posses for it to offer proper protection against infection. These qualities include;

1. Disposability: A protective face mask especially against a virus is not something that should be reused. It is supposed to be disposed off immediate after it is taken off the face to avoid transmission of any virus that might be hanging on to it. That is why such face masks are sold it packs containing dozens of it.

Ankara masks defy this important quality of disposability. Most people result to using Ankara masks because they can wash and reuse, though economical, it is not healthy. Why is it not healthy? Good question, when a face mask is worn and exposed to the possibility of being contaminated, the proper action to take is to dispose it and wash hands immediately but with an Ankara mask, the user would want to take it off the face, propably keep it amongst dirty clothes till when they decide to wash it.

If such used masks kept with other household materials are infected, the virus is likely to spread to other items in the house thereby putting the health of residents at risk.

2. Breatheable: A good face mask must be light in texture to allow its user breath comfortably. The materials with which most of these Ankara masks are made are not breathable, they are sometimes very thick and make the user struggle to catch their breath as though they're running a marathon. Imagine an asthmatic person using such Ankara masks, does that not assure the occurrence of episodes or even certain death?

It is advisable to stick to the normal face masks that are easily disposable and if you must use Ankara masks, make sure you exercise proper caution.

BREAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I went to the big MARKET JUST NOW. Of course, we had our FACEMASKS on. When we got there, there were too many people. That was when I decided that we had to leave immediately. So, I pulled my wife to go home afraid that we might catch the virus...But, my wife wanted me to let go of her and did not want to go home! OMG! Stubborn wife as always!

I literally had to drag her, lifted her, balanced her on my shoulder and ran to the parking lot where I then threw her back into the car!!! In the car, she was quiet and totally ignored me. Even when I tried to explain it was for her own benefit, she remained silent and very furious !!!!

Finally, we got home. I parked the car and she still refused to leave the car. Again I dragged her out, carried her shoulder high and threw her into the sofa in the living room. I then sat down, facing her...and we removed our FACEMASKS... She was not my Wife!!!

BE CAREFUL... STAY@HOME...”.. Before you carry what's not yours...

*USE YOUR HEAD*

Lockdown is being relaxed, not because we are winning the battle against the COVID-19 but because government cannot afford to meet our needs at home for a long period.
*Use Your Head*

They know that continuously asking hungry people to stay at home may have unpleasant consequences like revolts. So they ask you to go out at the risk of your life.
*Use Your Head*

Don't loosen yourselves as you go out and dont subject your immunity to trial. The unknown underlying ailments in people's bodies could be the fertilisers for Covid19 to thrive in infected persons. The risk is still there and increasing.
*Use Your Head*

As we are told, regularly washing of hands with soap and water; use of sanitisers; use your face mask; keeping physical distance rules and leaving home for the essential reasons only
*Use Your Head*

You are on your own.
Relaxation of the lockdown is a clever way by the government to avoid taking responsibility for your death. You are on your own.
*Use Your Head*

Relaxation of lockdown is just to take you off social media so that your daily attack on the government can be reduced.
*Use Your Head*

Relaxation of lockdown is to silent opposition party who is already blaming the ruling party for the hardship and insensitivity on the masses. You are on your own.
*Use Your Head*

Figures from *NCDC* shows that the rate of infection is increasing and the Government is asking everyone to open their doors and go outside?
*Use your Head*

It is obvious the worst is yet to come.
*Use Your Head*

Politics / Buhari Approves The Implementation Of Jonathan's Committee Report.. by royalzee: 4:39pm On Apr 30, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the implementation of a committee report set up by former President Goodluck Jonathan to cut cost of governance in 2011.

The committee, headed by the then Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Steve Oransaye released a report recommending a trimming of the Federal bureaucracy.

The committee found that there were, at the time 541 government parastatals, commissions and agencies.

Among others, it recommended the reduction of statutory agencies from 263 to 161.

The report was however not implemented till the ex-president left office in 2015.

Announcing the resolve of the Buhari administration to adopt and implement the report, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed said the president has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Head of Service to begin the restructuring and rationalization, in line with the report.

“The president has approved that this administration should implement the Oransanye report”, Zainab Ahmed said.

“It has reviewed the whole of the size of government and has made very significant recommendations in terms of reducing the number of agencies and that would mean merging some agencies.

“This is a report that has been in place for a long time and there hasn’t been implementation but the president has approved that this should be implemented.

“We have conveyed Mr President’s approval to the arms of government that are responsible for this and that will be the office of the secretary of government and the head of civil service of the federation.” Zainab said.

Crime / Ekiti Father And Son Video: Man Who Took The Video Suspended. by royalzee: 11:55pm On Apr 29, 2020
Ekiti State Government has ordered the indefinite suspension of one Sola Durodola, a member of the Covid-19 Task Force over incompetence and highhandedness.

It was gathered that Durodola shot a video where he was making a mockery of the father, a former road safety officer who had come to report his son, for violating the stay at home order.

In the video, Durodola who is not a health official also certified the suspect as free of covid-19 a situation that generated negative reactions.

The Commissioner for Information and Value Orientation, Mr Muyiwa Olomilua, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, frowned at the unprofessional conduct of the security agent, whom it said did not have the authority to make such statement.

The government statement reads in part, “The attention of the Ekiti State Covid-19 Taskforce has been drawn to a video clip in circulation where a man refused to allow his son, who just

returned from a trip outside the state, into his house until he had been isolated for 14 days as stipulated by NCDC protocol for preventing community spread of COVID-19 in Ekiti State.

“The Taskforce commends Mr Femi Adeoye, for refusing to cover-up his son’s travel history and for denying him access into the house without confirming his COVID-19 status.

Mr Adeoye epitomizes the Ekiti ethos of selflessness, which places a greater premium on the collective good of the society above personal and emotional considerations. This is the core of the Values Orientation policy of the Fayemi-led Administration.

“We also consider it necessary to inform members of the public that the video was recorded about four days ago, by one of the security men attached to the Fajuyi Pavilion, where the Enforcement Taskforce uses as its base for coordination of daily operations.

The security man who recorded the encounter is neither a health worker nor qualified or authorized to determine the health status of the young man. So, none of his actions or misstatements reflects the capacity or preparedness of the State Taskforce to combat the COVID-19 virus.

” The officer in question has been suspended pending further investigations, for acting outside the jurisdiction of his scope of authority.

“Following the encounter, the young man has been in the custody of the State for the past 4 days and has since been taken to one of the designated quarantine centres, where he would be for 14 days, in line with a laid down procedure that dictates that anyone who sneaks into the State, would be quarantined for fourteen (14) days, at their own cost. His samples will also be taken for testing in order to ensure he has not been infected in the course of his travels to high incidence areas of the country.

“We implore members of the public to emulate the patriotic zeal of Mr Adeoye, and promptly report to the Ekiti State Covid-19 Taskforce, any out-of-State traveller who sneaks into their neighbourhood, or places of abode. This is to safeguard against the likely health hazard that such returnees portend for the larger society.
