COco102:Yes I feel sorry for him,his weight will cause him his career. He is at the moment our only high profile player but we cannot afford to take a player that is unprofessionaly overweight to the world cup,he look like a sunday fun soccer player .I am happy that local based players who have been in the camp for more than three months will be the core of this team. One thing that I can confirm is that we will be playing what we in South call a 'Diski',players will show case their skills, quick passes and individual brilliances,Southy people know what I am talking about,Shibobo,Tsamaya,Show me your numbers and many other tricks ![]() Africa is a theatre and South Africa is the stage,Woza 2010,Ke Nako! |

The DA controls the city, the only metro not in ANC hands. Meaning the only city still under apaartheid. |
ElRazur:I have no problem when people associate SA with crime,HIV and other terrible things that are reported because I know that half of it is true, and that half must be dealt with. If some Nigerians here use this forum to get peoples emails and send them this fraudulent mails then we should all condemn them and those who protect them they're also scammers. onye_ngbu:And I bet that person is you,who said South Africans are not smart? or you mean fraudulent smart? |

MyJoe:My Joe I do understand your concern regarding leadership in Africa, but Africa is not one country.South Africa's problems are unlike any other country in the continent,in South Africa we have both world in one country,a typical third world country and a first world. And we need a leader who could relates to both worlds and whose mission is to bring them together. The ruling party is trying hard to balance this. And one thing that people forget is in South Africa we don't vote for an individual but for a party, which means we vote for a party's policies not Zuma's policies,if Zuma is not doing what his party appointed him to do then just like they did to Mbeki they will recall him and appoint someone else. Most of us are familiar with the policy of ANC,and there fore vote them in power because of what they stand for.South Africa's problems or challenges cannot be solved in 10 years or even 20 years,it need a long term goals,we need to educate the previously disadvantaged groups and this won't happen in the short term.Crime,HIV,unemployement are caused by lack of education.Having said that South African blacks are one of the fasted growing middle class in Africa, but more need to be done, the goverment want atleast 80 percent of all South Africans to be in the middle class category in the next 30 years. |
By 'these people' maybe Mpele meant 'these Africans'.Nigerians,South Africans and others included ![]() |
I doubt the story is true, maybe he wasinvited by NFF. ![]() I like this TB guy with his stories, but the good thing is he always give people bag of rise, which I think is cool. I once saw them trying to put this rice bag on a cripple man's head to carry home,I thought that was funny ![]() |
The other plan for South African teams is to invite top African teams to play in South Africa. Before we started inviting Manchester Unnited,Portsmouth,Totenham,Barcelona we use to invite two teams from Africa, where the likes of Asec Mimosa,TP Mazembe and other top teams to play a tournament in South Africa and this will only give experience of playing Africn opponents but we will also be doing it in top facilities with well trained and uncorrupted referees. And this African teams will also be exposed to professional set ups. |
eldee:I hope you're not too ignorant to know what aapartheid was all about, and if you're wise enough you'll also see how much blacks have achived in South Africa if you look at our past. Yes economy of South Africa is in 'whites' hands but you fail to understand that only five percent of whites control it,mostly by big multinational companies just like anywhere in the world.meaning majority of whites are a working class, who struggle daily just like any other middle class blacks in South Africa.I am hapy that we have leaders who's agendas are not driven by pride and power but by long term vision of creating a succesful South Africa where everyone will have equal opportunity to achive their dreams. And if letting 'whites' control the economy of my country,to realise that dream,so be it. Coming back to the topic,I am learning to like the song,it is growing on me. |
Its gonna be a party to remember I've got my tickets,my Bafana shirts,My RSA flag and last but not least my Vuvuseeella ![]() |
^^^^This is the type of attitude South Africans teams have when it come to continental competitions,in South Africa the is more honour, pride and prestige in winning the local competitions than continental. It is bad for our football as we can see with our national team.I know it is tough for Souith African teams to play in Africa but we should use this for our mental strengthening.I hope they(Supersport united) reconsider their decision |

President Zuma said that "I learnt with shock and sadness of the news of the passing away of my brother, President Yar'Adua. On behalf of the Government and people of South Africa, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and relatives of President Yar'Adua, the government and the people of this great African nation, Nigeria, as well as the broader ECOWAS community". “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nigerian people as you grieve the loss of an outstanding son of the soil. Be assured, my dear brother that your loss is felt beyond your borders and may you find comfort and solace in the knowledge that South Africa is with you during this difficult time”. South Africa and Nigeria enjoy cordial and fraternal bilateral relations forged throughout the years of the struggle for Africa’s decolonisation. These fraternal relations were significantly further consolidated during Africa’s collective efforts at modernising the continent through NEPAD and other AU programmes. During his Presidency, President Yar’Adua played a seminal role in the reconstruction and development of Nigeria and advancing Nigeria’s role in the community of nations. It is South Africa’s wish that the leadership of Nigeria will do everything in its power to ensure that this African country forges ahead with the vision of President Yar'Adua to make Africa and the world a better place to live in. I have been going through this thread from the day I started it and appreciated the hard work South Africans have made, in building stadiums all over the country, buidling roads, highways and byways all over the country, new King Shaka airport in Durban,extensions/renovations of all airports, internationals like O.R Tambo airport in Johannesburg to Cape Town air airport in Cape Town and all domestic airports that include Polokwane,Nelspruit,Lanseria and other accross the country. For refurbishement of rail accross the country and new development on Gautrain, the first underground speed train. All I want to say is my people made me proud to be South African and willl say to all of them Ngiyabonga in Zulu Ke a Leboga in Tswana Nkhensile in Tsonga Rholeboha in Venda Baie dankie in Afrikaanse Raleboha in Sotho Ra tamisha in Pedi Enkosi in Xhosa Thank you in English |
Nigerians indeed knows how to spend their hard earned cash, money spenders. |
^^and since the same period of time,1996,what was happening with Nigeria?Dominating the world?Winning African Cup of Nations? My brother your country during the same period have been awful,I don't understand why you sound as if you've achived anything in the last 17 years in football. We both have issues and at the moment we're both full of excuses. Let us sort our issues and come back and talk. |
First let me say South Africans are not silly and illiterate. And I think Mpele's mistake was to try to reason with you, since I think you've got other issues that you have to deal with. Regarding the world cup,it is in South Africa, hosted by South Africans and as host we have a right to demand certain things. To be honest you should be happy as an African that we don't let Europeans control us or send us around like headless chickens because we're Africans. The sad things it is only in Africa where a visitor takes control of the host house and run things, and in South Africa our pride it too big to let anyone to do that in our backyard. Maybe it was allowed inthe other world cups but in South Afruca we won't let it happens,if we do it will be because we want it to happen and it's not forced on us. This world cup is sponsored by me,a taxpayer and a proud South African who want his country to move forward, |
honeric01:If your country give a 25 year old a passport saying she/he is 15,then there is a little that FIFA can do,but me,you and everyone will know that you're cheating. You see at this stage you've probably got away with murder but your integrity and morality will be questioned. Remember that every one can cheat, steal or murder but decent people are guided by their moral values. |
Jarus:The senior team has won African Cup of Nation once, finished second once and have qualified for the world cup twice not including 2010 as host(this will be our third appearence). We where once ranked 14th in the world, all this where achived in less than 14 years since isolation. I know this might be small successes compare to Nigeria, but if you look at the time we've started playing international competition you'll realised that we have over achived a lot. Although soccer is number one sport in the country but is not too far from other sports like Rugby, which we are world champions,Cricket where we are rated number one in the world,we are also a big hockey nation. But to answer your question, lately we have been doing badly, and one of the reason is we've been developing the wrong types of players, development caoches where concentrating on short but very skilfull types of players, unlike in in the early 2000 where we had big strong tall players, like Masinga,Khumalo,Fish,Radebe,Battlet and we will have one or two skillfull short players like Moshoeu. It is back to basic for us,and hopefully 2014 if we don't supprise lot of the teams this year will our year. Barcelona is signaing an 18 years old sensation called Siyanda Xulu, remember that name. |
I really cannot belief how you guys encourages cheating,or is it a way of life in that part of the world? Shame! Then we hear people saying our leaders are corrupt and they're pulling our country backward, the reality is people like you, ordinary people who sees nothing wrong in someone who is doing something that is wrong. Nigeria's dignity is disappearing fast and you guys don't care. There is no difference between cheating, corruption, murder and rape. I really hope Fifa ban Nigeria. |
Zuma is on the right track. |
Old news, but thanks for mentioning it here. |
morpheus24:I am dissapointed by your comments, but then there is a saying that says 'people who generalise, they are generallly liars'.Shakira is horrible as a singer, she sings as if she's got something on her throat. What we are saying is we have talented musicians who are capable of doing this song.We have world renown groups like Black Mambaso and Soweto Gospel Choir that have won the grammys and other very talented musicians. Believe me when I say this is our world cup,I am sure in the past it use to be FIFA but in South Africa it is ours,it is African world cup.And I think it is OK to believe in yourself as an African,Shakira did a bad job and we believe one of our own can do a better job, what is wrong with that? Kaanan song is very popular in South Africa and people thought it was a FIFA official song and where OK with it,so please don't make us more xenophobic than we're already are.Personally I would have loved a song that have Femi Kuti,Vusi Matlhasela,Oliver Mtukizi,Yousou Ndour,Angelidjo Kidjo,Yvonne Chakachaka,Baaba Maal,Isamel lo and Tuface,Lira |
@MyJoe I was very dissapointed when I read that President Goodluck is rasing the minimum wage for civil worker to 1800 naira from 7500 naira,I mean here we where devastated with racist Tereblanche paying his employees 6000 Naira.I mean what is different between the Goverment and Tereblance? Africa we must wake up. This is the article Jonathan’s Gift to Workers: Minimum Wage Now N18,000 •New salary to be paid from August From Kunle Akogun and Damilola Oyedele in Abuja, 05.02.2010 A new pay package for Nigerian civil servants will be operational in three months, Acting President Goodluck Jonathan, has said. When operational, the least paid worker would go home with N18,000 at the end of every month as against the N7,500 minimum wage that presently obtains. Jonathan while addressing workers on the occasion of the May Day celebration, pleaded with the civil servants to shelve their planned five-day warning strike scheduled to commence tomorrow, and assured them that the issues in dispute would be resolved within the next three months. He also disclosed that he had directed the Minister of Labour, Chief Chukwuemeka Wogu, to ensure that negotiations with the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council achieves the desired results within the next three months. “This important assignment of which I understand you are respectfully represented in the committee is nearing conclusion. The National Committee on Parameters for Wages in the public segment is also working assiduously to ensure that we have a mechanism that will make for adjustment on workers’ remuneration gradual. “I sincerely plead with the civil service unions to negotiate with the government because of the warning strike they have presented to us. I believe very sincerely that Nigeria and indeed the rest of the society must develop to a point that workers will not negotiate for salary increase,” he said. Jonathan said this year’s Workers Day celebrations coincide with the Golden Jubilee of the nation’s independence. He gave the assurance that the federal government was working assiduously to address issues of employment generation, Niger Delta crisis, electoral reform, power supply and other necessities for national development. “For me I promise honest service. I will give all my heart and mobilise every available talent of Nigerians wherever they are to meet the expectations of our people. As we are going into an election year, the issue of credible of election is top on my agenda to national liberation. "I have taken the challenge of an inadequate power supply, peace and rapid development of Niger Delta, food security as well as overall security of all Nigerians and promoting credible elections as priorities in the concluding months of this administration," Jonathan said. Jonathan also told the rally of thousands of workers that his government would give Nigerians free, fair and credible elections in 2011, compared with previous polls that were judged to be largely flawed by local and international observers, including the United Nations and the United States. He also promised to improve security in the restive, oil-rich Niger Delta that has in the past three years been the theatre of kidnappings and attacks. Jonathan expressed government's resolve to provide a conducive environment for the workforce. He said his presence at the occasion was a demonstration of the administration's belief that to build a strong democracy, there must be a virile labour movement. According to the Acting President, no nation can develop beyond what the collective efforts of its working population can present. "The rate and size of a country's development is dependent on the size of its economy and therefore the need for an expanded economy for the good of our people", Jonathan said. He said there was an on-going effort by government to create a new Nigeria anchored on social justice, industrial peace and harmony, due process and the rule of law and thus called for a collective effort to achieve a solid and prosperous nation. Jonathan promised to provide honest service on his part as government works towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the conduct of its business. President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Omar Abdulwaheed in his speech said the negotiation over the National Minimum Wage has dragged for several months. He said they were earlier hoping that the issue would have been concluded and that the government would announce it to the workers on May Day (yesterday) based on the agreement reached. “In the same vein, we have followed the negotiations on relativity in the public service and the apparent lack of progress in the process. The distortion occasioned by the consolidated salary structure in the public service is not only unjust but against the principles of equity and social justice,” he said. He pointed out that the tripartite committee had completed its work. “Your Excellency, the ball is now in the court of the executive arm to fast track the promulgation of the committee recommendations into a New National Minimum Wage Law. Nigerian workers will not accept any further delay on this matter,” he said. President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Peter Esele, expressed disappointment that the civil servants were offered only a 10 per cent salary increment while the Police and other services got between 60 and 100 per cent. He also called for sincere efforts to address the various problems of the country which have all contributed to hinder the country’s growth. “TUC will support any action taken by the Association of Senior Civil Servants to address this injustice as we will not accept anything less than N18, 000 as minimum wage payable to Nigerian workers.” The theme for this year's celebration is '50 years of Nationhood and the Working Class: Challenges of Good Governance, Unity and Credible Elections'. |
dominique:But Dominique its got its own negative as I've alluded earliar, Caf lack of organisation and investement in Africa and the fact that corruption is rife, referees decide the winner before kickoff and just plain cheating and intimidation make Caf competitions for South Africans less appealing and it is wrong. The perception in the country is that inorder to win in Africa you must buy referees, intimidate the visitors and do other unsporting things.Unlike West and North Africans,South Africans are new into the whole thing, even if they wanted to do it,they've got no connections.Look at age cheating, everybody send player twice their age, what do we do we tried to cheat by send players who are older by not more than two years, and to top it up we go for players who are shorter in order to try to decieve people. Other nations send their big and old guys as long as their passport say 15 years who and how will you challenge them? ![]() |
Bottom line is South Africans have been isolated for too long from Africa and the international community, during that time we learned to be self reliant,we developed selflove, which means anything South Africa is the best the rest come second. Today our league is the most watched and supported by locals,DSTV payed a fortune to get the rights. And that investment have been fruitful for DSTV,more people signed to the cable network because of PSL,more people watch PSL On DSTV than any other international league including Premier league of England,La Liga of Spain or Bundeliga of Germany. And because of this the PSL brand in the country and some neighboring countries is big and still growing but the disadvantages are South Africans teams find honour in winning local championships than any international one.Even our kids aspire to play for Chiefs,Pirates,Sundowns than going overseas. It is bad because it mean few our players will play in the best leagues in the world and we won't produce world class players. Today our kids in South Africa know about Teko Modise,Itu Khune and Tshabalala than Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, that is bad. But on the other hand it teaches them to believe and support and be proud of their own. |
