SA Lady:Thanks for the advise, and out of respect I will leave this topic. Just for the record,I don't hate anyone, hating is a self punishment,I learned that from Tata Mandela. South Africa rocks https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-376796.0.html |
SA Lady:Why? Princess. So you think our goverment deported them for being Nigerians? Do you agree with people here who says black South Africans hate Nigerians? Are all black South Africans poor,HIV infected and uneducated? Is 95% of our economy in white hands? Are all South African woman cheap and lack morals? Is South Africa going down since black goverment took over? You know the answer to all those questions is 'NO' but people here think it's true.Let us educate them princess while they are here,so that they don't come over with their illnformed arrogance to our country. We know South Africans hate to be disrespected in their homeland. So please my lovely mkhaya don't shushhh me I beg oo ![]() |
I see that this is a theraphy for most of you here, talking ill about South Africa makes you feel good ehh? I guess it makes most of you forget about your miserable lives.Good luck. |
I think the level of journalism in Nigeria is very poor, ill informed and dangerous,I read the top article and it does not make sense. It does not explain why those people where deported. They make it look like they where deported purely for being Nigerians, there are thousands of Nigerians in South Africa legally and will never be deported unless they commit crime. And regarding the medical student she must tell the truth on why she was sent back,if your visa have expired and you have not renewed it,it does not matter whether you're writing the exam tomorrow or you're perfoming a life saving operation on Mandela tomoroow you wont be allowed in the country. It is a law. Nigerians are too sensetive, and make everything personal.Instead of finding out the real truth, you scream xenophobia and jealousy. When one think Nigeria, lot of things come to mind but the 'TRUTH and PRINCIPLE' are not one of them. |

KnowAll:Yes goverment build houses for the poor, but the rest of the sociaty just like anywhere in the world buy their houses through banks loans. KnowAll:TRANSNET is a goverment owned company that run and control all the ports, railway and and I think Airports. But the underground speed train called Gautrian is a partnership between the goverment and private sector. Zuma is turning out to be one of the best leaders in the world. |
I think that there is a lot of ignorance on this issue here,You guys are not asking the right questions, maybe you don't really care about finding the main cause to this problems. What if I tell you that the political situation in Zimbabwe is the direct cause.Do you think that there is a developing country that can absorb 7 million people in their country and economy without problems? We don't have refugee camps in South Africa, people who come from Zimbabwe go straight into the society after crossing the border. The goverment also have no extra plans for this people,it leave them to fend for themself, there fore competing with the poorest for essential services and unskilled jobs. I personaly I hate it when people make this look like black South Africans generaly hate other blacks from the continent,it is a social problem that need intervention from the international communitiy,UN should be sorting this mess up.And South African goverment should tighten its border and make it difficult for anyone who is not bringing investment or skills that are in shortage in the country to enter the Republic. It is a fact that South Africa is the most succesfull and well runned country in Africa, education, healthcare, houses are free for poor people, including non South Africans. And this is why poor people want to chase 'foreigners' from their communities. UN,AU and who ever want xenophobic attack to stop must first deal with Mugabe and his goverment.Sort out Zimbabwe and we won't have this problems again. |
morpheus24:I don't think this only happens in South Africa,Africans all over the world are quick to KILL when they differ with you in opinion, culture, religion, race or country. When we are poor,we are like wild animals ready to pounce on the weakest of our society. Zimbabwe will recover with or without Westerners. Zimbabwe gets go-ahead to sell some diamonds By ANGUS SHAW (AP) – 18 minutes ago http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5go389c2XyhmXenpmcVmLb0C9402gD9H04UPO0 HARARE, Zimbabwe — A new agreement allowing Zimbabwe to sell its controversial diamonds was met with caution Friday by rights groups who have documented violations and killings in the country's diamond mines. Global Witness and Partnership Africa Canada said in a statement they welcome the agreement's condition that Zimbabwe make "measurable improvements" in its diamond-mining practices if it wants to sell more than the two batches allowed by Thursday's agreement. But the rights groups called for more controls in the months ahead. They said the deal averted a crisis over international sales of Zimbabwean diamonds but the "biggest test" of the credibility of the agreement still lay ahead. "The ball is now in Zimbabwe's court to make good on its promises and act to end one of the most egregious cases of diamond-related violence for many years," said Annie Dunnebacke of Global Witness. A last-minute deal at a meeting of the Kimberley Process certification scheme in Russia authorized Zimbabwe to sell two batches of diamonds under strict monitoring and regulation through Sept. 1. Dunnebacke said violations and disputes over Zimbabwe had battered the integrity of Kimberley certification scheme comprising 75 national, industry and lobby groups. "Ultimately, the success or otherwise of this agreement will be determined by what the main players do next. We fervently hope that the governments in the Kimberley Process will, for their part, hold Zimbabwe to its commitments," she said. Nadim Kara, of Partnership Africa Canada, described the agreement as "far from perfect." "The crisis in Zimbabwe's diamond sector should act as a wake-up call to governments and the diamond industry , The system needs urgent and far-reaching reform at a time when consumers are demanding action on blood diamonds," Kara said. Mining experts estimate that Zimbabwe's diamond fields, sealed off by police and troops in the districts of Marange and Chiadzwa near the eastern city of Mutare after a diamond rush began in 2006, are likely the biggest deposits found in Africa since the Kimberley fields were discovered in neighboring South Africa a century ago. The mines ministry says it already has about $1.7 billion of diamonds in storage ready to be sold. Zimbabwe's total international debt is estimated at around $5.5 billion. The mines ministry, controlled by President Robert Mugabe's party in the coalition with Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, the former opposition leader, denies wrongdoing and accuses human rights groups of "peddling falsehoods" over rights violations and top level corruption by politicians and police and military chiefs. Finance Minister Tendai Biti reported in a budget review statement Wednesday at least $30 million in recent diamond sales was known to have gone missing and did not end up in state coffers. Criticism by Western nations and human rights groups deadlocked a Kimberley Process meeting in Israel last month that sought approval for the sales after a regional monitor of the control body reported Zimbabwe had met minimum international diamond mining standards. |
Xenophobia reports a plot to discredit SA - minister Jul 11, 2010 9:20 PM | By BRENDAN BOYLE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The committee of ministers appointed to head off the threat of renewed xenophobia is seeking an urgent meeting with newspaper editors to discuss what they see as a pattern of damaging reports, the minister of police, Nathi Mthethwa, said yesterday. Mthethwa said the government was convinced that rumours of a xenophobic backlash against African immigrants and refugees from tomorrow were being driven by "sinister forces" determined to deny South Africa's World Cup success. But he said the cabinet would not ignore rumours that could become self-fulfilling and had put measures in place to staunch the whispering campaign and to react if there was any violence. He said: •The infrastructure of the special World Cup courts would be used to deal quickly with any xenophobic violence and to send a signal of zero tolerance to potential perpetrators; •The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and other departments had mounted a lightning campaign to promote tolerance and understanding; •Measures would be introduced to better manage immigration, to take advantage of the skills that migrants bring and to ensure that they did not undercut locals, either in the rate for which they would work or the profit margins they accepted; •Community leaders and organisations were being drawn into a programme to discourage hostility to foreigners and to ensure that police were informed as soon as trouble starts; and •The special inter-ministerial committee set up before the World Cup kick-off would meet those they believed were responsible for spreading false rumours. Mthethwa said one of the first steps would be to convene a meeting with the South African National Editors Forum to discuss what the government believed had been irresponsible reporting on what it saw as unsubstantiated rumours. He said he agreed with Malusi Gigaba, the deputy minister of home affairs, who said in a lengthy analysis on the ANC Today website that: "The purpose of these rumours is to snatch away from our hands the victory of successfully hosting the best ever World Cup tournament. It is meant to deny us the right to claim this glory that belongs to us." Mthethwa said: "When the deputy minister says there are sinister forces, we have all the reason to believe that indeed this thing is not a coincidence. We are of the view that even if we quell this one, something else is going to be peddled. That's why, even rumours, we are not taking them for granted." Alleging a pattern of negative reporting going back to President Jacob Zuma's state visit to the UK, when British papers focused almost entirely on his polygamy and his illegitimate children, Mthethwa said he believed the media were behind the campaign to denigrate South Africa. But he added that he was not ready to say whether South African newspapers were "in cahoots" with foreign ones. "By and large, primarily some international bodies and institutions, especially in the media, have been driving this thing - especially in European countries," he said. While Gigaba accused the press of reporting rumours to fill the news gap likely to be left after tonight's World Cup final, Mthethwa would not be drawn on the campaign's purpose. He said: "The unfortunate thing was that there were South Africans who were not readily happy for us to be hosting this World Cup, Some of these (rumours), when they are peddled, find fertile ground with some of those people. |
stormm:Thanks for giving this oportunity to explain. I think I should first explain the set up on South Africa.Majority of Media houses are owned by whites, who constantly report negative about South Africa, and are responsible for the negative perception South Africa have abroad. This are the people who's mission is to embarass the ruling goverment. Before Mandela became a president in 94,they reported that blacks are going to rape white woman and their daughter and kills the whitemen.Australia,Canada and Britain listen to this lies and offered white South Africans some kind of refuge in their countries. But things never turned out that way. Now over the years the very same media have been busy reporting badly or negative about the country, together with their partners in Britain and Germany and Australia tried hard when we were bidding to host to let people know that crime here is out of control and lie about some statistics and when they fail to influence the FIFA decision to award the hosting rights to us they went on to plan B by trying discourage people from coming by contantly reporting on crime and even linking Tereblanches death to the world cup.Saying black people will be roaming street with machetes killing whites. And that almost worked but people still came and the world cup was a success. And once again they lost. And I think while we were celebrating the world cup they started reporting that their sources in the townships told them that there is a plan to attack the foreigners after the world cup.All their media houses ran with that story as if a definite war is coming. And because of this useless reporting most foreign people have left their homes to find safe places but people in the township don't know about any planned violences. Our white media want something to happen,South Africa to them must be a failed state, black people cannot rule a succesful country we are told. They have been telling people that South Africa is hell, and that since white rule no development is taking place and that our goverment is corrupt and does not care about its people but their pocket and they've been proven wrong. And now they want the story that will prove them right once again. There have been too many good story about South Africa for their liking. The opposition party DA which is lilly white party is at the top of list of this naysayers and its members are the owners of this publication or this media houses. Please read what the Chief of Police is saying http://www.timeslive.co.za/sundaytimes/article543843.ece/Xenophobia-reports-a-plot-to-discredit-SA---minister http://www.newstime.co.za/SouthAfrica/Police_Minister_Mthethwa_Lashes_Zille_on_Xenophobia/7280/ |
Ikengawo:My brother quality remain the same irrespective of where it comes from.I have seen some good storylines in some Naija movies, some of the acting is not bad but the packaging is terrible and the backround songs are a joke .I mean the guy will be cheating on his wife and you hear this backround song "he is a bad'o man'o,he cheat on his wife'o bad'o bad'o" .Whats that? or an actor will be singing to a song and they sing the whole freaking song, four minutes of it,where is the quality there.I doubt in Naija industry there is no jobs for editors, bacause what they've taped they will show it,seven hour of it.Watch Whte Wedding,Tsotsi,District 9(although it is partnership),yesterday and many other South African movies to see how an African story could be told without compromising on quality, and good story telling. Watch Mzansi Magic, chanell 107 on DSTV and be inspired. Our movies are compete yearly at Canne Festival and even get Oscar nominations that my friend is the step in the right directions. |
South Africa and Russia could soon be among the countries staging Formula 1 grands prix, according to the sport's commercial kingpin Bernie Ecclestone. The 79-year-old Ecclestone told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek's programme he hopes a circuit will be completed in Cape Town 'in about three years' time'. "The only question mark is Russia, where we should be and we are not," said Ecclestone. He also branded the Olympics as "second class" in comparison to the World Cup. Pursuing a relentless expansion programme in recent years, Ecclestone has concentrated primarily on countries where tobacco advertising is not banned. Singapore, China, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi have been added to the calendar of races, while India is scheduled to stage its first grand prix in 2011, with the United States expected to return to the calendar in 2012. However, Ecclestone has long been keen to take to the sport to Russia, which is bidding to stage the 2018 World Cup, with the Russian city of Sochi also hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics. Two years ago Ecclestone met the governor of St Petersburg to discuss the possible building of a new circuit on the outskirts of the city after a previous initiative aimed at staging a race in Moscow came to nothing. And asked whether the World Cup had persuaded him that F1 should be looking to have a presence in Africa, Ecclestone said: "You're absolutely right, it is another continent where we should be. "It would be nice to have covered the world, but Russia is more important right now. Africa is limited for all the people who are involved in F1 for business, whereas Russia is wide open. "But we will see. We have been talking to the people in South Africa for quite a long time off and on. The chances are OK. It's a case of getting the right venue always. "We've been talking to the people in Cape Town. There are one or two places that could happen and are coming on quite strong. "We're talking about building a circuit. It's probably about three years away. That's what I would like to see. I would hope so. I've been hoping that for five years. "Hopefully what the World Cup has done for Africa, people will think it will be good for F1 to be there." If Russia and South Africa are of interest to Ecclestone, the F1 supremo remains distinctly unimpressed by the Olympic Games. "The Olympics has become a little bit second-class now compared to the World Cup. The interest in the World Cup compared to the Olympics is extraordinary. Commercially I would much prefer to be involved in the World Cup than the Olympics." BBC |
morpheus24:This is what motivate most of us,to search for sites like this.We do this because we want to understand our fellow brothers, and we also come here to be understood and be inspired. And when you Morph say what you just say I know that I made the right decision by being part of this forum.Yes as Africans we have challenges but it is time now that we focus our ernegy on the positve things we do and can do.Negative things will only cause tensions and hatred, that is why there are xenophobic violences in SA,tribal killings in Rwanda, religious killing in Nigeria. If you where in South Africa for the past 30 days you'll have notice that we where not doing this for ourself but for the continent,we trying to break the stereotyping of Africnas not South Africans only. South Africans love this continent and would like to see it and its people respected.I am not xenophobic,I have no fear of foreigners and none of my friends or family members are. |
12large:Did you go to europe's fan park during the tournament and see who else was blowing the Vuvu?I mentioned europe because I know that you are one of those blacks with inferiority complex syndrome.Anything black is bad,but when a whiteman do it,it is perfect. For me Vuvusela was a statement,we were sending a message,we were moving away from a certain culture,we were creating our own,our own atmosphere. And this excrcise tought us that you have to believe in your own things, even when people hate you for that keep the faith and one day your haters/enemies will turn into friend and embrace you for who you are. |
I think Africa as whole played its part, all Africans where behind us,without this ambassodors, your Amokachi's,Okocha's,Roger Milla's Abedi Pele's,Kalusha Byalwa's,Goerge Weah's and many other African greats this would have not been this succesfull. I was proven right once again by the love and support South Africans have on other Africans when we wore the coloures and flags of Nigeria,Ghana,Cameroon,Ivory Coast and Algeria.I was flying two flags on my car the whole month,South Africa and Ghana, and other South Africans have other African countries flag flying in their cars. I am left speechless by what we did as a country and the continents and still get goosebumps whenever I think about it,this indeed was a special moment in our history as Africans, and now that we know that we've got what it take i think we should applied this lessons to our daily lifes and take our rightful place in the world. Perception within us and to the out sider has indeed changed.Thank God I am African. |
tkb417:That was touching bro ![]() tkb417:Personaly I think both industries owe their African popularity to DSTV's African Magic, both 114 and 115.I see now that they are launching Mzansi Magic today, and maybe this will be a good lessons to all other movie makers in Africa on how to make movies. For too long people where following bad examples on how to do movies, where quantity has been the order of the day instead of quality. Watch out for Mzansi Magic, starting today. |
seanet02:If we are Demons, where does it leave people of JOS? I personally belief that GOD(that most claim) never get angry,he does not punish,he does not hate,he does not kill but he is GOD of love.who protect, who guide, who understand, care and never make mistakes. If Caster Semenya(the 800 m champion) is born with a woman private part outside but have men's features internally is it wrong, did God make a mistake?does she have to be punished if she develop feelings for other woman. Please stop pushing you own ignorance and prejudism in the name of God. |
seanet02:I think you are a joke, even fools will notice that I made a typing error but would have understood what I meant to say.I have realised here that to most Nigerians speaking and writing good english is considered being educated. To tell you the truth as an African I have a great respect for anyone who comes up with good business Ideas,or invent some revolutionary things,or big thinkers, philosophers. And to be any of those people you don't have to learn any other language other than your mother tongue, think about it, English will never determine my intelligence,it is just a language, someones language. What is Zain?do you realise that Zian does not operate in South Africa, there fore they have no economical interest in it,that is why South Africa university whish are some of the best are not included in those so called competition(I have never heard of that competition I must confess). So now you know who the RETART is,I wonder what you'll do if you give birth to one. |

The bottom line is locals knows who commits crime, and they know where they are hiding and when they run out of their patience, bodies will burn and ya people will be crying murder.Poor people don't trust cops, cause cops get bribes that is why they take the law in to their hands.I don't think they hate foreigners because they're from Africa but they hate their criminal factors. And Crime in township apparently drop dramatically after the violence in 2008,that is why most communities still refuse entry to foreigners in their place. Let me tell a personal experience,I have been in three places where we were robbed at gun point, and all those roberies where commited by Zimbabweans,I knew that they where Zimbabweans because in all those instances they where speaking some Ndebele and Shona. It is a open secret in South Africa that MOST armrobbers are former soldiers of Zimbabwe, they are well trained and have a good supply of weaponery. Nigerians sells drug, counterfeit DVD,CD and sell stolen goods like cellphones,VCR,TV and other equipments. That my friends are the facts. |
Katsumoto:Who said South African artists are not rocking Africa? The whole of Southern Africa listen to our music religiously,we influence their fashion, dance and culture. BET and MTV I am not sure if I can recall any SA artist who have won those awards but I know that there must be plenty.South Africans sings omo,we sing with heart, soul and Spirit. You can tell when a South African sing,it is in our blood. |
Let them leave we will send in Vodacom,South Africas biggest mobile operator ![]() |
Threats are just that threats from unriliable sources.newspapers hopes something will happen, they are encouraging it to happens. The last time people where killed was because Zimbabwean boys gang raped a South African girl in Alexendra township and the community went and attacked those gang and it escalated to other foreigners and to other township. It was not organised or planned. The reality is we have a big population of illigal people in our country who commit crimes, and most of them lives in this poor communities where they can hide, although most of this criminals do crime else where and come and hide in this comunities, they sometimes steals from their neighbour, and in South Africa poor comunities they don't call the cops, they sort you out,mob justice. Most illigal Zimbabweans are armrobbers and some Nigerians buys stolen goods and they also big in drugdealings. That my brothers and Sisters is a fact,I am not asking you belief me but I am telling the truth. |
