Hello Everyone,
I need clarification on this issue,
I am trying to apply for a visit visa to the UK to build my travel history for canada study visa. I have been refused us visa before( i can only recall 3 times).
I asked to see my visa application form from the agent i am using,so I noticed he filled no where it was asked if I have ever been refused visa to certain countries. While I specifically mentioned to him to note my US refusal. So he mentioned that he filled no because the UK has not share info with US since trump regime ended.
I would like advise on this, should I withdraw my application(no biometrics yet), or go ahead with the application. And what other country can one apply to for travel history.
Thanks. |

technix: No timeline is specified. But the rule says one must be ACTIVELY studying.
This means that one should be enrolled, and one should be able to demonstrate that one is making reasonable progress toward the completion of one's courses in the time allotted by the program.
Changing after a semester is fine. But changing after one or two weeks (I haven't seen anyone) may require a convincing explanation, especially with respect to demonstrating progress.
**Anyone who has seen a change of DLI after a few weeks can mention. Thank you so much @technix |

technix: Yes, you can change your institution by sending the new letter of acceptance via webform before the study permit is approved.
But if the permit is approved already, it's better you wait and enrol at your initial institution, then change your institution after enrolment.
If your permit is approved already and you change institution while in Nigeria without planning to enrol at your initial institution, then you need to submit a new study permit application. Could you kindly explain how soon one can change schools inside Canada after enrollment. Does it have a timeline? Does the student have to be studying for a week, 2 weeks or fir how long. I will appreciate help with this from the gurus. |

Osemigho: NAIT is a very good school. I know two PR people that did Bachelor in IT there. They got a professional job before completing their program, probably through internship. However, the school is very expensive for international student. The person should check the program and fees very well before applying. Thanks a bunch @ Osemigho, someone mentioned the expensive part, she plans/ed applying for post diploma data analytics, I don't know if there'sinternship. She better go check out their fees then. |

mrprolifik: NAIT is a very good college located in Edmonton in the province of Alberta. Its is a Designated learning institution (DLI) and international students who graduate from NAIT and studied a program that takes a minimum duration of 8 months to complete are qualified to apply for post graduation work permit (PGWP). So she can go ahead to apply. Thank you @mrprolifik. I'm sure she'll be elated cos she really wants to study in Edmonton and her cgpa is too low for Uni of Alberta |

I did upfront medicals in January, but IOM has not sent me any mails yet. Is there a particular process for collecting my result, i have thought of going there to get my medicals result but I'm not sure if thats the right procedure. I have also tried calling their numbers but not through.
I would also like to be enlightened about company sponsorship for study visa. My company would be sponsoring me as a co-partner(husband and I own the company), so I would like to know what documents would be needed for my visa application from the company and from myself. Also, should the company pay the the school fees and living expense into my account( I have some money in my account as well). If so, what documents will I need to explain the lump sum. |

makano: Hello Ruby
A Masters degree program is the ideal degree for you considering you finished with a result that can get you a Masters admission in Canada.. But at the same time you can as well go for a PGD, but I will advise you go for a PGD in Civil Engineering considering that was your first degree program and also you have years of working experience in that field.. Changing to a different field at this time will be difficult to convince the Visa officer after so many years of experience in a particular field, except you have very convincing reasons on why you wanna switch over to project management...
Peace Thank you @Makano We actually have civil engineers in project supervisory roles workin on projects in construction companies, and they are designated as project managers (PMs). Thats why I considered the PG project management course as a career progression. |

Anon123: The long wait for a not guaranteed admission is the issue with masters.
Have you reached out to the schools international admissions. If not, do so.
There is no guarantees as it comes to visa approvals either as a masters applicant or a PGD. Approval is dependent on your documentation packaging, convincing sop and financial availability (avoid lump sums). Therefore nobody can authoritatively give you an answer to your question. I get it @Anon123 I reached out to one of the schools buy no response. Thanks for your response |

Thank you ketima. I had like a 4.02 cgpa in my last 2 years of undergrad. My overall gpa is about 3.59.
[quote author=Ketima post=109763483]Hello Rubby22,
For Masters in Canada, 2:1 is the benchmark but then, due to competition, what level of 2:1 did you come out with and your last 2 year UG CGPA. Someone with BEng 4.34 in Civil Engr, applied to Manitoba, Simon Fraser, Saskatchewan. Simon Fraser and Manitoba denied him, only Sask admitted him. |

Pls the gurus in the house, @ketima, @makano, @frankrobbn and others i can't remember.
I would like advice on my proposed course of study. I have a Bsc Civil Engr.(2.1) with about 9years work experience as a civil engr both design and onsite. I applied for masters(Meng) in Civil Engineering at some universities in Canada since November/December but I have not heard back from them. I have recently got admission for a graduate certificate in Project Management in a Canadian College. I would like advice on if opting for a graduate certificate in Project Management, rather than masters civil eng, will be favorable when applying for study visa. |

Hello everyone, Kudos to all the gurus in the house.
I would like to ask if someone intends to pay full tuition fees for a masters program and also pay about 10,000Cad for GIC, does the person still need to provide proof of funds or SOA for visa application. Also like what amount should be provided if POF is still needed. |

makano: Hello Ruby
Make sure you explain this in your LOE with relevant documents to back up your claims so the Visa Officer won't see the amount deposited as a lump sum..
The receipt of the transaction with the said amount on it will suffice...
Peace Many thanks for your response @Makano |

JustMellow: Hello Raymondrain,
Stating your age would have been helpful. Based on your post, you should be the sole sponsor. Get your mom to send your second year's tuition to your account and provide you with a Letter of Support, and supporting evidence for her source of income. This way, the need to include her bank statement won't be necessary if it is not available.
She can demonstrate in the letter her capability to support your study financially as well as give any useful information too. If you are married, demonstrate the provisions made to sustain your family in your absence.
If you can go for a one-year program, do so. This will enable you to set up a GIC for your LE in addition to the full tuition fee paid. If this is not possible, you can still set up a GIC to support the payment of your first-year fees whilst you can still show the second year's funds in your account or a fixed deposit. This is just for demonstration.
Best of Luck Hello Gurus in the house, Can I sell a property and transfer the money to my bank account as proof of funds for visa application. What documents will i need to show the VO to explain the transfer |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Ruby22: 8:03am On Nov 24, 2021 |
makano: Hello Ruby
The bolded is not totally correct..
The normal procedure is that IRCC will send Medical request to an applicant when eligibility has been passed, but because of the delay in IRCC sending Medical request, applicants took it on themselves to go for an Upfront Medical to avoid the delay of medicals...
So you doing upfront medicals before or after the submission of your application depends on you.. If you do it before, you will need to submit the E-medical sheet with your application and make sure you state in your form/SOP/LOE that you have done your Medicals and you have attached the E-MEDICALS to the other documents you are submitting.. If you do it after, you will need to submit the E-MEDICAL SHEET to IRCC via Webform and also Email, and make sure your UCI and application number is stated in the content of your mail..
Peace Thanks @makano just seeing your reply |

If it is the latter, you have to take your invite there (IOM or QLIFE) and plead for a date, they will schedule you for one, if it is the former just take the earlier date available which presently in 2022. Thanks for the response. i actually wanted to book for an upfront medicals. There's actually no available date/slot to pick from IOM lagos. |
