You think it's Ghana coffin. The 14 seater cost your 7-10K USD to pi.mp. The minibuses you start talking 20-30k usd or more. These matatus some of them have TV in every seats; sound system alone can cost your 5K USD; the lighting; some have even PS5 games on board; We haven't added the body works You buy a brand new chasis - for 30-40k usd - and then spent about similar amount to build it's body and love-vendor it out. Matatu is very serious business - they do daily return of upto 300USD - so in a week - you're doing 1500usd - a month - you're talking 6000USD Most Matatus return within a year! You're talking about 60K USD per year. Just30: |
Here is your fellow Ghana says the trota Or whatever is just bullcrap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5tDOAE1aK0 |
Rickety Dafno - is not matatu. Matatu is serious business - where millions are invested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3sjUvnJi-Q |
Lol Matatus are mostly bought brand new. This not Ghana or Nigeria dafno. Nobody will invest in pimping Matatu - cost upto 30K usd - on old rickety body. 14 seaters are ex-japan - no longer licensed in Nairobi - and that is old one you can see - because they are not licesned - otherwise people would buy new ones. The mini buses are brand new. They do crazy trips per day! They cannot waste a minute in garage broken down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SleHUD8BMjI Just30: |
While Ghana invest in macabre funerals with pimped out coffins; Kenya pimped out matatus stand out worldwide for it's creativity; they have everything young commutter would need; and they burst traffic jams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkWbTDzaozM |
Even in cattle rustling prone areas - Kenya cooperative movement is changing lives https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcB82NAep7A |
Kenya cooperative movement - 7th Largest in world - and Africa Largest. Safaricom Sacco - see how Kenyans cooperate and do amazing stuff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj4HwrXhqb4 |
No my friend. You cannot be allowed to sell fuel in Jerrican in Kenya . Heck even carrying fuel in such for small distance is automatic arrest. This is why Kenya downstream oil companies are all over from Mozambique, zambia, congo, drc, rwanda, all the east africa countries....selling fuel...because we cannot allow free for all kind of mess that is that video You want to sell fuel - open a proper filling station. Shackman, Kenya did census in 2019 - that cost us 200m dollars - and our population was 47.5m then. I think now we can work with estimate of 49M. Kenya population is declining and we are about enter demographic transitions. You cannot compare a country like kenya boostrapping the little resource it has - with mineral rich countries like South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria. You ought to be doing waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better because you hit a natural resource jackpot. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Technically they are doing badly - because our pop is merely 47m - and kenya doesn't have minerals. AfriqueDuZuid: |
But district council led by the DC are gov appointees! That will not work! There is no autonomy there; Magufuli has to go round inspecting small stuff. In Kenya we want to have ward dev fund - lead by ward rep - that is like location - and they can do small projects. Look at CDF - every const has managed to build good schools, colleges and name it - responding to local needs. They also do murram roads, bridges and such. County gov do more than that...and ultimately national gov is left to deal with national issues Mzal3ndo:

The resident madman...kenya budget was in Ghana level 10yrs ago! For example - 2012, Kenya set a budget of US$14.59B with a government revenue of . Just30: |
Total revenue including grants - is not equivalent to taxes. Kenya collect about 16B dollars in ordinary taxes alone (monthly KRA collect 1.5B dollars plus in PAYE,VAT and Customs) - and another 4B in AIA - so normally kenya has 20-21B dollars of revenues...that is why we can finance a 30B budget. Just30: |
16B dollars - is Kenya now Ghana.Look at you Nigeria style low tax to gdp; Kenya is way ahead of your mineral dependant informal economy. Just30:
|
Total revenues including grants. That include ordinary taxes, AIA, Oil and minning royalties including GRANTS. It all come to 9B dollars - and your budget is 15-16B dollars - meaning you have to borrow about 5-6B dollars. Just30: |
Before you get twisted in knickers - understand budget - revenues and such basic things. Kenya budget before corona was - Kenya on Thursday presented a 3.02 trillion shillings (30 billion U.S. dollars) budget for 2019/2020 fiscal In the corona period - it down to 27B Just30: |
Facts are stubborn hobbit. Total revenues including grants in 2020 was 54B Ghana- that is 9.3B dollars. If you remove oil, mining and such - your revenues are probably the level of Rwanda (2B dollars) Go to page 9 of this Ghana gov report. https://www.mofep.gov.gh/sites/default/files/news/2021-Budget-Highlights.pdf Just30: |
Don't confuse budget with revenues; Total Ghana revenues have never reached 10B. That is more like Uganda. In 2019 - total revenues and grants - were GH¢36.3 billion - about 6.6B dollars - by 3rd Quarter. Just30: |
Gold coast with oil, alumunium and bauxite isn't doing better than Kenya. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Kenya has similar economic structure - but you can keep the revenues centralized and shared equally. What is important is people from Njombe to have more autonomy and control of their future. In kenya we started with district focus of 1980s - similar to TZ model now - and it didn't work - because the problem was people running the show were appointed by central gov - District Commissioners and their lackeys. Then we went for CDF - const dev fund - every MP get 1-2m dollars annually to deal with small issues in their constituency - and we saw tremendous impact. Now we have gone to devolution - with 47 counties with elected members of assemblies and governors - and we are seeing development spreading all over the country including in Turkana and neglected northern kenya. What is important is people in any given small area need to have as much autonomy as possible - so they can make best decisions for themselves - without all knowing Magufuli going round fixing problems. I am glad we share the same sentiments. The so called tea reforms are nonsense on steroid. The tea sector is facing production glut - and only way is for the sector to diversify into specialty teas , find new markets and do more value-addition. Uhuru unfortunately is trying to use tea to fix his messed up politics and try to connect with his people. BUT KNOWING genuine farmers have full history of pre- and post-liberization - the so called tea reforms will be rejected by farmers. kikuyu1: |
Ignorant. The provincial governments of the nine provinces of South Africa have their own executive and legislative branches, but not separate judicial systems. South Africa system is therefore very similar to Kenya or Germany - it called devolution. Nigeria have federal system - which is why some states have enforced Sharia law. Ethiopia and US have similar systems. States are more powerful than South African provinces. Tanzania and Ghana have centralized system - a relic of their communist past - that emphasized central planning and control - instead of sharing of power to the lowest unit possible - so people in village or district can make their own decisions based on their own priorities and local conditions. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Less say 2K according to your naked eye is completed; the project is 30% complete; continue watching and measuring the length; the total length will be 27km with about 18kms elevated; The road itself dwarf nearly all the buildings in Accra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfBRnwEy7Iw Just30:

It 700M dollars - something that would crash your miniscule road budget. Your total revenues are not even 10B dollars and your budget is 16b dollars. Kumasi can only build castles in the air - not real roads. As for elevated section - show me an 18 km elevated expressway in any SSA country including south africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUe6M_NLeWY&t=328s Just30: |
We are talking 18 kms of elevated expressway. I doubt your Kwame thing is even 1km. Just30: |
Yes it massive 700M dollars (100M from gov) first elevated expressway in SSAs. As for Kumasi - they can only build castle in the air - because Ghana simply too broke to build anything. 16B dollars budget is about half Kenya. "In 2020, the revised expenditure budget of the government of Ghana reached approximately 96.3 billion Ghanaian cedis (around 16.5 billion U.S. dollars) as against the initial budget of roughly 84.5 billion Ghanaian cedis (around 14.5 billion U.S. dollars)." Just30: |
We are busy working hard to beat the likes of Joburg - look at Nairobi - massive construction site. As for poor little Ghana - you'll still be eating grass cutters in 2100 - and admiring other Africa cities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfBRnwEy7Iw&t=12s Just30: |
Yes, senate take care of devolved or federal unit issues Zfree: |
It very likely Accra will not get here in your lifetime https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r0cLcyL0pA Just30: |
That is not proper rail - more like a tourist thing. It runs once a week in each direction between Cape Town and Johannesburg (departing Cape Town on Tuesdays and Johannesburg on Thursdays), and takes about 26 hours. AfriqueDuZuid: |
What is logic for building coastal rail - why not build ports instead - and have the railway on the hinterland. Obudu cattle ranch kind of thinking. forgiveness: |
