BOT of five years That would be a steal except it only in your deranged mind. For example Kpone Independent Power Plant project - BOT of 20yrs. Just30: so you don't know that Gov't businesses can also run like private enterprise?
No wonder kenya power remain bankrupt.
Ghana Gas is a govt owned company and it can threaten to shut down gas supply for nonpayment of money.
Likewise VRA which is also a govt entity.
Ghana does not need to buy equity in any IPP
Ghana only sign IPP contracts in the power sector on a Build Operate and Transfer model. The time frame is usually 5 years after the 5 years, the Infrastructure becomes Government owned.
Ghana only allow private players who are Ghanaian to own power plants.
Build power plants has been handed over to Volta River Authority. So it is no more an IPP
Likewise all the others.

So gov is threatening the gov There is no evidence that broke Ghana gov unable to pay debt - has bought Equity in the IPPS In total, there are nine IPPs providing electricity, including the 400-MW Bui Dam, seven thermal plants with installed capacity of 1505 MW, and the 20-MW solar plant completed by BXC Ghana, a subsidiary of China-based industrial conglomerate Beijing Fuxing Xiao-Cheng Electronic. Just30: we owed them pieces of monies accrued over a 4 years period And the company's are 90% govt owned companies Like Ghana Gas VRA power plants The only private plants now are Asogli and T3 |

Lying require some intelligences 2021 Feb Ghana settled half its debt to energy producers who’d threatened to turn the lights off in the West African economy over their inability to cover operational costs. Ghana paid $750 million in tranches over the last three months, Elikplim Apetorgbor, who heads a chamber that brings together companies responsible for close to half of the country’s peak energy demand, said by phone Wednesday. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-17/ghana-pays-half-its-debt-to-power-producers-with-750-millionJust30: Good luck on that
The entire world knows it to be an Israeli company.
Yes, it becomes a Ghanaian company based in the US.
The only free money Ormat is taking advantage of is the one from Kenya power. It is part of the reason why Kenya power will remain insolvent.
Ghana does not pay anyone for it 1000mw unused capacity anymore. All those IPPs have now become the properties of the Ghanaian Gov't as there has been a transfer in ownership.
For instance, the Ghanaian Gov't have shut down the 400MW BUI power dam for 3 months which it now fully owns. This is to grow the dam water level.
Karpower has been handed over to Ghana Ameri is now fully owned by gov't
Can you tell the forum how 500 million which was being paid in 2016 to 19 became 1.3 billion dollars? |

Long story short.Where did you get 75B dollars. 68B dollars is what we get from IMF/WB. Just30: You dont know what ports have to do with economic growth?
for instance, import and export can be used to measure the level of activity in an economy.
That is why even though China suferred some economic slow down in the first 3 months of the year which led to a slow down in their import and export. But when the whole world caught the virus, economic activity in China picked up with led to an increase in export and import.
that is the same thing that happened in Ghana
First of all, Ghana GDP was 68 billion dollars in 2019.
An expansion general economic activity especially in the manufacturing sector, agriculture and an appreciation of the Cedi pushed it to 433 billion cedis. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 3:30pm On Apr 10, 2021 |
What has port got to do with economic growth. Last I checked you ports were doing 12M metric tonnes - while kenya is heading to 40M metric tonnes. Show us how you got 75B from last year 68B - despite corona. All I need is growth rate (0.9%) and USD appreciation rate (year-on-year depreciated by 0.8%) Just30: of course the cedi Appreciated
The growth rate was a projection base on corona
Fortunately the economy performed way better than projected
Do you know what a 26% growth in Cargo handling at port means?
it means huge economic activity growth and that is why the GDP of Ghana is 433 billion cedis |

it means that, every year, 1.3 million Kenyans are born. Looking at kenyan resources, it cant sustain that. This explains the humongous levels of poverty in Kenya.

It not Isreali Company. It a US company. If a Ghanian formed a company in US - does it become a Ghanian company? Ormat is new player who came to take advantage of Power Africa free money from US. As for Ghana - that is just one of many contracts - you signed like the .idiots you're. Take or Pay. As we speak your grid has collapsed - meaning your cannot take - and have to PAY for idle power You slowpoke.s are paying 1.3B dollars - the same money you make from OIL - for free AIRThe result is that the government is paying over US$500m (almost Ghana Cedis 2.5 billion) annually for power generation capacity that’s not being used.
There is also an overhang for gas. And because the government contracted gas supply on a take-or-pay basis, it must pay whether the gas is utilised or not. Thus, from 2020, if nothing changes, Ghana will face annual excess gas capacity charges of between US$550 and US$850 million yearly. This is even after the current government terminated two other liquefied natural gas contracts in 2017. https://theconversation.com/lessons-to-be-learnt-from-ghanas-excess-electricity-shambles-121257Just30: So it's an Israeli company
Now that we know the ownership, can you stop making noise?
Too bad this international contract was signed with The Ghanaian courts being the place for mediation. The contract was cancelled, 3 years ago and that has been the end of it.
Power Africa money is peanut and it was money we didn't even need. We will list our company on the stock market and make more money.
More IPPs are even begging us to sign contracts with them so they can build their plants. a 1000MW wind power projects was just given the go-ahead this year. |

Nope - Ormat is US company founded by Isreali. That is why it got Power Africa funds. They are minor player in Kenya power sector. As for cancelling international contracts based on some Ghana investigation - tough luck. International contracts are cancelled in London or such places...NOT ACCRA. You're not only going to lose future IPP contracts, Power Africa funding but you'll pay - because nobody gives a damn about what Ghana - in international contracts. Just30: This fool does not know that Ormat is an Israeli company
You can try learning about the global investigation into the company for it corrupt practises.
USA gov't got pissed that we didn't allow their corrupt practices to take root in Ghana when an investigative journalist in Ghana exposed the fraud that was being committed which led to Ghana cancelling the entire transaction. |

Even when you live in villages; each household or hut will be counted seperately. Kenya is entering a demographic transition - and we are starting to reap from our huge investment in Population Control and Family Planning. Remember we have Sub Sahara Africa highest Contraceptive usage - more than 60% of our women are on family planning drugs. Now what we are seeing is population coming down! The 10-14 are the largest cohort - while 5-10 are more than 0-4 - so you can see - we are 5 or 10yrs from DEMOGRAPHIC TRANSITION and our economy will BROOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meanwhile you're breeding like rats with Nigerians. All the economic growth you have is being made nonsense per capita wise by population growing on steroids. Just30: kwasia, so a whole village is a family er? You fool too much . Family size/Household size are generally close to be insigificant - so don't sweat it. Most people like to live as families - not strangers. Kenya population in 2009 had issues. Somalis inflated their figures by 2m-3m - by rigging census and counting somalia somalis. They tried to pull the Nigeria kind of Census Mess. The Census body cancelled the figures - and but Somalis went to court - and won. So 2009 population officially as court sanctioned was 40m - although KNBS and gov officially knew 38M was credible.Come 2019 - strict measures were put in places and those that tried to manipulate census - were arrested. And the figure was 47.5m. Those using projected figures - are projecting from 2009 - 42M. There are many ways to validate census - and in kenya we normally do a large household survey - of 100K - mid way - we did in 2016 - and that should generally check census. Or you end up like Nigeria. Just30: so you were part of the fools whom your politicians bribed to reduce kenya population by 5 million?
I've done census on a few occasions and I will be part of this years own.
Mo*ron is based on family units and not houses fool.

I don't need to google because I have done so many survey and census. Household is NOT Family slowpoke. Household is a house and it's occupant. During survey - there is normal a question asked on relationship btw Household Head and the occupant They can say - spoue/son/daughter/relative. For the electricity access - all we care about is to have every HOUSE with people in it - supplied with electricity. Now 7.1M Ghanian household - how many have electricity. Provide data with LINKS. Isreali owning Geothermal in Kenya is the Usual Madness from you. Our Geothermal plant is owned by KENGEN - which is own by Kenya Gov and public (30%). I don't think there is a single Isreali owned power plant of ANY type in Kenya. Perhaps you're confusing Kenyan-Isreali owned HYOUNG contractors - who are just building and construction - company - not involved in power plants - they just DO CIVIL WORK on power plants. Just30: household is counted base on family unit and not houses. The number of members in a house is taken in total and the individual households which is the family units are counted and the total family size taken.
At the national level, they stack an average family size and then devide it by total population to makes up the household size.
Just Google Ormit
They are the owners of most of the geothermal plants in kenya and the brine your officials to keep bankrupting kenya power. |

We don't generally need AC - plain simple. We have perfect temperatures. Even tourist hotels do not have AC - AC is just unnecessary. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294207-i9695-k11971402-Air_conditioning-Nairobi.htmlKenya and Ghana GDP per capita are near equal...so they are many indicators mo.ron that we use to measure country wealth Just30: So now pictures measure the need for AC ?
Electricity consumption is indicator - just like many others - but every country has it unique circumstance - for example South Africa electricity is so large by even world standards - because of their minning.
They are many other indicators - that - tell the whole story.
Kenya GDP per capita and Ghana GDP per capita are now nearly equal at around 2000.
Guy you are mad. Even SA that is in a temperate to climate zone needs AC how much more Kenya in the hot tropics?
Your people are simply poor and can't afford it and that is why you are here trying to paint a pic of not needing it.
Imagine Russia and Canada saying they don't need heating, that is how stupid you sound.

The first thing in census is household mapping; Every house with people is marked. Long before the day of census. During census - the occupant of a house - are counted - and that become a HOUSEHOLD Household - is a house and it's occupants - doesn't have to be a family - although most of them are families So Household is equivalent to family. Having average of 5 - doesn't mean some household do not have 10 kids. You lack of education is appalling. Now surely we have to teach your basic of everything.Isrealis involved in our electricity sector - since WHEN ? Our geothermal is mostly JAPANESE and drilling now by China. Most of turbines from Mistumi/Mistubishi...some by Toyota..and also Hyudai. Just30: Mo*ron they will count households and not houses. Is it that you don't know that there are houses with over 20 households living in them?
Households do not have 20 members in Ghana, they have 5 members. Father, mother and on average 3 children.
Ghana electricity access is 90% already
Go and fix you electricity mess where the Israelis are milking you guys like cow.

Kenya is not a secret destination like North Korea. You can go to youtube, check pictures and you'll see we don't really need AC in most of kenya - so yes our electricity consumption is low. We don't need to spend a lot of money on heating or cooling down our houses. That is GOOD thing. Obviously if you want to use electricity consumption as indicator of wealth singularly without other indicators - then you're a well a Ghanain Moro.n. Just30: you are a disgrace to kenya .
Do you even know what climate is?
Do you even think about 5he things you type before posting?
All the nonsense you've been spewing is just to an attempt to tell us that kenya have a minuscule electricity consumption not because of poverty where people can only afford to have 1 bedroom and one bulb in their house but because temperatures ranges from 20 to 27 degrees so they don't need big houses of their own and all the goodness of life like TV,computers, AC and etc. |

Okay any links to the data? Mo.oron understand this - when Ghana do census - they count go to every house - and count the occupant - that become an household. In Survey or Census - it the first question. They go to every house with people - ask who Household Head is - and then members of that household present. Then they do national total. Some household have 20 members - some have single person. On average in Ghana it come down to 4.5 person per house. That become average Household Size of Ghana. And we know the number of houses with humans in Ghana to be 7M. Now 4.5+0.8+0.3 is a little over 5.7M out 7M So if we take your data at it highest (despite the obvious lack of credibility) - Ghana electricity access is 5.7/7 that about 80% electricity access. Just30: nedco has over 700,000 customers and 800,000 meters distributed.
Ecg has over 4 million customers now with over 4.6 million meters distributed
Vra has over 300,000 customers with over 500,000 meters distributed in it catchment area..
Okay let's assume Ghana has 8 million households
And there are 2 households in one house, how many houses will you have ? |
