the exporter gets only 30% of it and the retail gets the rest plus transport.

I think we all know cereal cost more, 300% more
Mexico world largest producer of avacado make more money from avacado than Ghana the world largest gold producer makes from gold...that is green gold...with huge multiplier including transport and packaging

Based on the tractor per area - definitely 3 times more.
GeneralDae:
So how many is in Kenya? and show me where it is second in Africa?
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 10:08pm On Oct 11, 2022
I think so; I am not certain; but suspect it
Look like you have only 7,000 active tractors - about 50k including broken down ones; smiley
GeneralDae:
You said after South Africa, you have the second ownership of tractors in Africa, now you are reducing it to just tractors per arable land grin?
The question is: How many tractors are in Kenya altogether?
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 9:55pm On Oct 11, 2022
One data source.

Mechanisation: World moves without Nigeria - Businessday NGhttps://businessday.ng › agriculture › article › mechanis...
Mar 6, 2019 — Kenya had 25 tractors per 100 square kilometres of arable land in 2009 while Nigeria has almost seven, according to the most recent data .

Now if you consider that arable land in Kenya is tiny sliver - smiley then you know real tractor usage is intensive.

GeneralDae:
Stop speaking from your ass. Do your research first.
According to the report, ‘Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization: A Framework for Africa’, published last year by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in 2000 the tractors in use in Africa were concentrated in a small number of countries, with 70% in South Africa and Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018:
Ethiopia is hopeless - landlocked. Nearly all manufacturing has to happen at coastline - anything else is not scalable - logistic wise. Tanzania is even more hopeless because they are just lazy.

African countries with coastline should develop free port linked to SEZ - if they have EXCESS LABOUR. Africa population doesnt generally have excess labour - it's still very youthful. kenya for example has abou 15M people - who are working age but half are farmers - so you're talking about 8 million people - remove traders and all that - you have real working population of 4 million spread in wide area.

Cities like Lagos have that opportunity - that likes of Dhaka and Veitnam cities have - If they can fix basic stuff. If Lagos can turn Lekki deep sea and sorrounding into SEZ - they can get manufacturing for export going. But stupid Nigeria gov is focused on ABUJA - hopeless Potemkin village that is USSR/Russia like.

If Lagos get the Deep Sea Port - give it to chinese to run it , give Lekki as SEZ with it's own electricity, security, taxes, laws and etc, and make it special economic zone - it has the ingredient for a successfully manufacturing hub - they will have huge desperate labour force - willing to sweat in manufacturing sweatshops - and with AGOA - few kilometres from the US shores - they will be very successful

GeneralDae:
So you are saying Ethiopia do not have all or most of these problems? So why do we not see the signs already in Ethiopia and Tanzania? Why are they not some of the top manufacturers of finished goods in Africa??
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 9:33pm On Oct 11, 2022
KaziKazi - without Kenya - you'd still be like Nigeria or Ghana - producing low tech agriculture.

State-owned Kenya Seed Company Ltd (Kenya Seed Company) researches, develops and markets field crops and vegetable seeds, alongside the sale of pesticides and fertilizers. It was incorporated in 1956, and in 1979 it acquired Simpson and White Law, a vegetable seed company that trades under the brand name Simlaw Seeds. Kenya Seed Company also established the brands Kibo in Tanzania and Simlaw Seeds (Uganda) in Uganda.

Typical fool.
TARI like KARI develop breeds or clones....these are researh institute
Kenya Seeds and Simlaw propagate them in large scale and sell to farmers
Kenya Seeds and Simlaw do this for entire East Africa.
Most of you crops are not hybrid - they are useless low quality maize - millers in Kenya reject.
I have done maize business - you have to blend with Kenya maize to sell
Kazikazi:
Tanzania agriculture research institute (TARI) has research centres all over across the country. One of their key mandate is to provide us with the best seeds which are suitable to our environments. While kenya imports most of her seeds,Tanzania does the opposite. We make most of the seeds ourselves.

Anyway, while you are busy importing tractors, Tanzania is busy making her own tractors..

We are not equal

You have no soft condition when you're under a protracted debt sustainable ECF and EFF ..... Your economy will be strangled

My Govt was never hoping to go to Eurobond because last time they tried going, they didn't have a favorable condition.

Your govt can't access the Eurobond market, China will not loan to you and it only option was IMF because theyve been defaulting for long now.

Sounds like primary or lower secondary schools elucidation of manufacturing. It doesnt work like that on real life.If it was easy like that many countries would have done it.
It's about many factors all coming together....at the right time.
Now it's happening in Vietnam and Bangaldesh.
Most important is having excess labour that you can hire at slavish cost.
Then there is logistics of moving raw materials and finished goods
Tanzania is 30yrs from being nearly ready
Kenya is pretty close
Kazikazi:
I mentioned some factors which gives Egypt, Tz and Ethiopia an edge, but you didn't bother to check them.

Yes there is a war in Ethiopia, but I believe it won't last long.

Most of these manufacturing business as we know are foreign owned, since you know very well most afticans are behind in technology, knowledge and the capital to enter into a real manufacturing business. As a result, foreign owned companies will dominate in Africa. And by that, there are countries which are considered too riskyfor foreigners to do manufacturing business in a large scale like those we saw in the far east like China, south Korea,Vietnam etc.And these risks are everywhere in most parts of Africa
Lack of cheap and reliable power
High gov corruption
High labour costs
Availability of raw materials (industrial minerals and agriculture stuff)
Lack of peaceful and stable policies

Your hoe-powered agriculture with low quality maize cannot ever be compared to kenya.
Infact without Kenya Seeds moving to Tanzania - you'd still be producing the worse maize full of afflotoxin.

I have helped people import tractors from Europe. I can tell outside South Africa - Kenya has probably 2nd highest tractor ownership in Africa.

What can a starving nation do? Can they manufacture anything?
Before u even start talking about manufacturing, start solving your hunger issues. No nation, I repeat,no nation have been successfull on manufacturing while starving.
PoliticsRe: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 8:45pm On Oct 11, 2022
People who starve dont lack food; they lack money; Drought kills their livestock; they become poor; cant afford to buy food; otherwise they can never grow food on sandy desert.

Keny grain basket is North Rift that include Turkana and other drier parts - food is always available - but of course it's NOT FREE. They have to buy it.

Kitale-Eldoret produce high quality maize that Tanzania can only dream of - useless LOW QUALITY Tanzania and Uganda maize have to be blended to be accepted by milling plant.

Our intervention on drought now is CASH TRANSFER.

This is North Rift - that include Baringo, West Pokot and Turkana

Main maize, wheat and barely growing region in Kenya is around Eldoret, Nakuru and Narok

From a Tanzanian - even a Kenya hawker on the street - would die of laughter. The only thing you can manufacture is bong music, witchraft and begging at industrial scale.
Kazikazi:
Kenya's value of manufactured goods is around 2b per annum.that I too little to talk about. You are still an infant in this big game of manufacturing. Kenyan workers contribute almost zero on that little manufacturing.Actually most of those little stuff you make requires very little brain.

We went to IMF when they had their hands open for everyone due to COVID. We have soft conditions. Your gov refused to go to IMF then hoping to float another a Eurobond. Shock on you - Eurobond shut the doors on you. Now you're going to IMF on all your fours and IMF have set pre-conditions that would entail doing the unthinkable - default on the local debt - never mind eurobond investors have dumped Ghana bonds and dont even care if you pay - you wont pay - but you will never borrow again.
Just40:
Youve been begging IMF since last year and you'll be begging them for the next 5 years because without them, you can't run your country .. they are busy paying workers salary on your behalf.

Ghana is okay without IMF but we can't say same for Kenya, there already a hiring freeze in your country, you've been pushed to remove subsides what's next, reduction in your spending for the next 5 years and a freeze on spending for 5 years...

Kenyans will end up poorer

Cereals is for fools like you, TZ and Nigeria
Kenya is going for high value crops - fruits, nuts, vegies.
We will happily import rice, maize, wheat. Plant them.
In fact we are starting GMO growing of those useless cereals.
Our focus is on high value crops like Avacados - with potential to grow export to more than 10B dollars (more than your GOLD)

150M dollars - growing very fast - China has allowed Kenya avacados.
Avacado market is 15B dollars worth.

Kenya becomes the first African country to export avocados to China.

Kenya is the largest exporter of avocados in Africa, and the world's third largest producer of avocados.

China is the second largest destination for African agricultural exports.

The best tea is Rwanda and Kenya - handpicked high quality - the rest including what you buy - is blended dust. When we eventually get you the real tea - you'll love it smiley

If we build our value chain - to China level - where some teas are sold for even 1,000 dollars for few grams - we can lift a million people out of poverty.

Oil will not give you that depth of value chain.

samorobo:
Yes we drink Lipton but in comparison to hot choco, you are wasting your time. The gap is freaking wide. I bet we take more herbal tea than Lipton. Plus we are drink tea from Europe whose leave was sourced from Kenya. You are not getting profit off the full value chain, they are.

We are borrowing less and less. We cannot stop borrowing. We cannot beg IMF like you're doing.

These are the measures
1) We are cutting 3 billion dollars from current budget
2) We will foat local dollar denominated loan
3) We will sell six SOES through public listing or and IPO.
