https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/home-away/article/2001402338/construction-rebounds-to-pump-sh169b-into-economy\ The construction sector contributed Sh169 billion to Kenya’s gross domestic product in the third quarter of 2020, the highest in any quarter since 2015. “The growth (in the construction sector) was evidenced in the volume of cement consumed, which increased by 23.5 per cent from 1.6 million metric tonnes in the third quarter of 2019 to 1.9 million metric tonnes in the review period,” said the report. We have Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and many small cities. Kaduna cannot even get to Eldoret level https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZO0t9MMLZg&t=156s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZoVH5i90hI Jamestown123: |
Nairobi construction everywhere. Btw kenya cement consumption has now recovered from 2015 slump - last Q - 1.9m - meaning we could close the year close to 8M metric tonnes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJPNf1L0WWs&t=737s |
To compare Nairobi with any west african slumpolis is abuse of our intelligence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fa3VxDJrBA |
there is no competition btw nairobi n lagos..joburg yes AnetteJK: |
68816419:Nairobi was named 11th eco friendly city in the entire globe...jesus..Cape town was no 45.Nairobi is one world greatest cities.just accept and move on.calabar or Nigeria have one or two half decent estate in sea of integrated slumpolis .Nairobi by 2030 will have overtaken joburg as the premier city of Africa ..if not earlier. Your slumpolis should try basic zoning and planning...basic.. |
68816419:rural markets in kenya have street lights..westland an acre of land is 5_10m dollars. Kojoa ulale oga.Westland is crappy yet has some world most expensive real estate. People dont just build skyscrapers...land is so expensive it only make sense to build up |
gallivant:precisely |
Why are you embittered and frustrated. Why would you go for street view when you have drone views? You have a problem with reality or what? Let me tell in Kenya - street view - will not show you much - because we invest in trees, hedges and greenery. Unless you want to see street view of the business districts. Otherwise estates in kenya are lined with too much trees and high school - you'll not see much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb44Qlpw-Zc 68816419: |
Nairobi North Collector - Phase 1 - adding 140k cubic meter per day - ready to be consumed this quarter. With longest tunnel in kenya - 12KMS - LONG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnK0aFyi3X4 |
Algeria with about the same or less oil than NIgeria' See the university - Nigeria oil could have done the same https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2mVxBW9rtg&feature=emb_logo |
Indeed Nairobi is water deficient because Nairobi and it's metro has grown so fast. Nairobi north collector is nearing completion. Saisuma dam is near completion. Here is Nairobi North Water Collector project - Phase 1 - will ADD 140M litres per day to NAIROBI Nairobi requires 825K cubic meters per day - and Nairobi right now get supplied with 500K cubic meters - and north collector (will take it 640K cubic meters per day) and others will fill the gap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsV0_t70Tpo There are other dams around Nairobi metro. Just30: |
See I told you - you can only compete with Kitengela. Now you're bringing your A-game. And when we bring the rundas, karens - that occupy more than half of Nairobi landmass. That will be too much for you of course. Those ones are word class developed world standards. Let try Kiambu - which is 20kms from Nairobi city center - in Nairobi Metro - it's just need a little more of horizontal infrastructure - and it becomes another runda ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwrP0H_hkoU 68816419: |
Street view tended to be careful selected. Give me drone view. I know you're pushing the inane idea that Nairobi city is small - without relent This Nairobi Metro - 20kms-30kms - towards Thika https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP0vtmc-GVk&t=275s Nairobi 40kms away from CBD - thika town (city really) - is jointed with Nairobi - just like Kitengela, Ngong, Rongai, kikuyu, kiambu etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D09-0WOrFj4 68816419: |
Those are like Rongai or Kitengela - the rest are integrated slums. Heck even Kitengela or random Nairobi Metro -look better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq8uMcIbFQI 68816419: |
Wuoche:only Victoria island is half decent in lagos slumpolis .As for Abuja..inner city roads |
Austine1213:look small to me and seem only thing under construction in that view...Nairobi is construction site |
Thiba dam 1. Photo 1, Thwake Dam in Ukambani taking is shape, 2. Magnificent Maragua Dam in Murang'a 3. Itare Dam in Nakuru 50% complete 4. Thiba Dam in Kirinyaga now at 70%
|
More dams under construction - each worth btw 200-500m dollars. Itare, maragua, thwake, thiba
|
Kenya is constructing many mega dams. Karimenu - Kiambu - to supply 700,000 people

You don't know anything. Kenya had functioning railway long before any chinese. Then it fell into bankruptcy and disrepair. World Bank told us to concession - and they went and picked a South African farmer - to run it for 25yrs!!! Later it turn out the man was broke and knew nothing about running railways. Kenya and Uganda had fell line, hook and sinker thinking he was part of the impressive south africa's railway industry. We had to build a new railway alongside it - as the deal involved Uganda. That is how Chinese came in. Chinese built the new rail. Eventually Uganda agreed, and wee kicked out the boer - and now have old MGR - and are repairing and buying DMUS This is Nairobi in 1950s Appisko:
|
Kenya Railway rehab - being done by National Youth Service and Army mostly
|
Kenya infrastructure 1) NCR - Nairobi commuter Rail 2) SGR - direct to port - ship - loads directly This in addition to our very good downstream oil pipeline.
|
Kenya railway servies, ports, and entire infrastructure is back - to kicking - big arse.
|
After kicking out the broke boer - who committed the biggest international heist - on Kenya and uganda - our railway services are now back
|
The Kenya MGR that had fallen to disrepair is now being repaired and extended. Some South Africa broke boer had lied to Kenya-Uganda and got concession for 25yrs of the railway. The broke RVR couldn't even paint the train. The world bank's IFC was the financial arranger and had failed completely to do their job Anyway now that South African was eventually kicked out - we are back to MGR 1) Nanyuki-Nairobi - is done and operational 2) Kisumu-Nakuru - under rehabilitation 3) Naivasha - Longonot - connecting SGR with MGR under constrution

Nairobi commuter rail - with BRT connection to JKIA

Konza technopolis - Nairobi train Today is a very exciting day as we take the first Nairobi - Konza Technopolis train, this will further enhance transportation options and open up the Technopolis and the buffer zone area for further investments

Some somersault; your ministry talk about revenues; that domestic revenue from manufacturers. You're just un-educated. Try compete with Ivory Coast before you come to Kenya level Just30: |
Domestically maybe. Export zeros. Imports still 70%. Just30: |
of 1600 - how many are convenient corner stores. Shoprite consists of 380 Shoprite supermarkets; 132 Checkers supermarkets; 24 Checkers Hypers; 148 Usave stores 20 distribution centres supplying group stores with groceries, non-foods and perishable lines; Austine1213:

They went bankrupt because of governance issues. The formal retail in kenya is super profitable. The Naivas/Nakumatt/Tuskys/ name them - were small shops a decade or so ago. Most of owners don't know how to run large chains. These are family owned business - that got into frenzy growth - as kenya retail is formalizing very fast. As for shoprite - what excsue does it have - to have burnt their capital in Nairobi Austine1213: |
