African are igneous as they have to eke a living... nobody deliberately set out or imagine vans or motorbikes would be used as public transportation...as long as they are unmet needs... someone will create business out of anything...most invention like mpesa or mobile money started that way...now accepted worldwide. Netherlands has narrow roads that's why bicycles were great for them. Again public transportation in Netherlands is great with bus and trains.

Japan has world best train system

You still have not paid off gautrain... motorbikes provide mass transport for the cheap...the problem is personal cars..not motor bikes or bicycles..those don't occupy lots of spaces and are really indespensable in rural areas..hence their wild growth..South Africa is poor to afford what you desire and they are too many people in rural areas without optimal transport.Dont try to copy developed countries... majority are now putting bikes at center of their mass transport...your colonizer Netherlands is leading ... everyone copying them..not south Africa
