You're the one dragging Nigeria - and you claim to have self-respect. First go to school - and you will realize countries like Kenya are leapfrogging leaving your begging in the streets of KANO.
Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo We missed the road when the whole world was talking of education for all and we did not follow that. It was a bad miss. Education for all! We even had a target date globally. Today, out of the 244 million children out of school, we have 20 million – almost 10 per cent.
Your universities have been closed for almost a year as lecturer strike - nowadays Nigerians student are scampering all over the world.
This thread is not only an eye opener but also a painful reminder/inspiration of what other africans countries have achieved or not achieved.
Naajjii: Yeah it's good to share and receive information but this place is for dragging, even the topic heading " Kenyans are Far behind Nigeria in every aspect ". How can Kenya be far behind Nigeria in every "aspect"? Nigeria is better in some aspects and Kenya is better in some aspects, that is the truth.Am sorry to say this most of you doing this dragging are from the south ,most of us from the north got no time for this dragging shit with foreigners. We respect ourselves.
Equity Group profit will definitely exceed 0.5B dollars this year - on back of massive lending (only 1 percent invested in gov bonds) - total assets now 13B dollars.
NAIROBI, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Kenya's Equity Group Holdings' EQTY.NR pretax profit rose by just over a fifth in the first nine months of the year, helped by growth in non-funded and interest income, Chief Executive Officer James Mwangi said on Tuesday.
Mwangi told an investor briefing that pretax profit rose 21% to 44.3 billion shillings ($363 million) in the first nine months of this year, with non-funded income growing 31% to 41.1 billion shillings and gross interest income jumping 26% to 84.2 billion shillings.
Mwangi expects the growth in non-funded income, largely driven by trade finance, to continue in future.
"It grew faster than interest income. This is not a one-off. It is the new normal," he said.
Equity also operates in Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda, and has a representative office in Ethiopia.
The bank said its total assets grew 15% to 1.36 trillion shillings, while customer deposits were up by the same margin to 1 trillion shillings.
What will make your be proud of Nigeria? You cannot be suffering and smilling - with empty patriotism and nationalism.
You want to take pride of human achievement as Nigerians. That is what build patriotism and nationalism.
Kenyans wherever they go proudly wear the kenya flag and know we have done well at least compared to our region despite not having oil or diamond.
What can you take pride of as a NIGERIAN today. Your country is total mess - both domestically and internationally - and has serious image problem.
At least Ghana can be proud to be in world cup though they will exit in 1st round as always. Kenya we proudly represent africa race in althetics. That helps build our patriotism and nationalism as long distance conquerers of the world.
obaaderemi: Certain things are impossible to achieve as a nation without patriotism and nationalism. There's no nation building without those. That's why on average Africans are poorly educated and poorly fed because nobody cares about the land and its people. It's everyone for himself. I don't expect a Kenyan to understand. Shalom.
You can only take your space by going to school, working harder, thinking better and living better than them. Empty patriotism & nationalism best exemplified by Ghana & Nigerians here wont take you anywhere. Their cousins in the US arent doing any better with their unnecessary passive aggressive behaviors. Indians and Chinas are going to US & Europe - and taking over without raising their heads. They japanese and asians are very respectful people but give them work - and they deliver. They could be 5 feet tall but they soon earn respect, grow wealthy and take their rightful space. Meanwhile Nigerians take their rightful space in prisons.
What will earn us respect is not useless aggressions but civilization. We need to learn from other civilization.
Kenyans are most likely to become respected in their future if they stick to reading hard, working hard and generally following the rules & order - and avoid Nigerian type of useless primitive aggressions compounded by drugs & crime.
Nobody will respect a criminal minded noise maker.
obaaderemi: The average African man is timid and lacks the spirits of patriotism and nationalism. He cowers easily before whites and other foreigners for small benefits. Look at Kenya for example with whites and Indians taking the best parts of the land, not to mention the Chinese keeping them in perpetual debt slavery. The African man needs to come into his own and become more useful to himself and the world.
How many farming and milling jobs compared to 220m consumers. Produce and mill rice but not at 4 times the international prices.
obaaderemi: You keep crying about rice. Kenyans and hunger! I wonder why the rice revolution in Nigeria is Killing you. We could no longer continue to be a heavy importer of a commodity we could produce locally thereby piling more pressure on the naira. With time the price would come down.
But we got to start somewhere. Now investments in rice Mills are all over the place. Those who used to import rice into Nigeria are going into processing now thereby creating jobs. Think of the multiplier effects.
On multidimensional poverty, if after all the lies and cooking of data Kenya still has about half its population poor, then the true numbers must be very staggering. No one takes data from Kenya seriously, a country where common people can no longer afford rice.
Agreed - it's multidimensional - but even if income is used alone - I bet they are more poor people in Buhari regime than before.
Kenya isnt doing any better - but at least it's better than Nigeria.
"The new index shows 23.4 million Kenyans are multidimensionally poor, compared to 15.9 million if one were looking at income only. The index is contained in the new Comprehensive Poverty Report, produced by KNBS, Unicef and UN Women"
The point is all the rice revolution and Dangote import substitution are not making a dent on poverty. They are making the billioniares richer...and we have to be careful with repeating FAILED IMPORT SUBSTITUTION policies. Protect infant industries as you make them competitive...not blanket protection of billionaire investors & businessmen....while people are buying cheap rice they can get for 10,000 naira for 42,000 naira. How many Nigerians would escape out of poverty if imported rice was retailing at 10,000 Naira?
GeneralDae: I shouldn't be responding but there is a difference between multidimensional poverty and poverty matrix used mostly all over the world.
The common poverty matrix used, measures poverty at below 1 dollar a day but this doesn't do us justice anymore because of the purchasing power parity especially if you want to consider the black market. 1 dollar is 761 naira at the black market. 761 naira a day in Kebbi state (inspite of inflation) can still do a lot for the market woman and rural farmer there, and these are also the set of people with the highest population in Nigeria. Even in Lagos (Nigeria's most expensive city, 761 naira would still get you a local meal but this is impossible in the U.S and most of Europe). Hence measuring poverty by the American dollar doesn't help us measure poverty properly.
With multidimensional poverty, you measure several factors such as access to electricity or maybe internet, education, adequate water supply etc. They could be just content in their own way but lack access to some basic amenities like primary education or good water supply. This is why the majority in this data are said to be children.
The data taken was based on a broad sample of about 60,000 persons. It was estimated that 27 million out of the 133 million are in urban areas while 106 million are in rural areas.
It's an ongoing process, the more data the Nigerian NBS has, the more the data is updated from time to time but the NBS has abandoned the old and usual way of measuring poverty.
You dont even have a working sewage system in your entire country apart from a small one in Accra central old CBD.
vaxx: You started poorly , what does tall building goes to do with wealth of a nation , the purpose of tall building were initially for low access to lands unless your ghetto lacks that accessibility . Nearly more than 260k redisident of kikuyu and leo stays in that sewage you called a city , they are even renting sharks and being proud of calling themself landlord . Your country is only creating a mess, the nearly 250k residence will create another sharks elsewhere when wealthy and rich indians will occupy the new housing unit that was gulp out from corruption. You have gotten used to mediocre , water , electricity and Medicare care has no meaning in your life . The most utilmate caused of kibera isn't just about the shanks but the overall well-being of the residence. Nairobi in general lack it .here in Ghana, even the least remote village enjoys basic things that are consider luxury in kenya . Showing me housing unit while majority of poor kiberans can't avoid it is an act of Monday madness.
In ghetto here, the residence have similar or almost lifestyle with the wealthy. Free school. And boarding house . And precisely , it is even a prestige to go to govt secondary school here. I.e the poor easily mingled with the wealthy.
Check some ghetto area that are recently turning into interchanges . Teshi -nunguah , this are far more reasonable than building a unit where average locals of HIV citizens can't avoid . Kibera. The ghetto is so huge , your govt don't have the capacity to finance what she intends ( nairobi).
So soon Accra ghettos will finally turn into a city of interchanges .
Infant industry must be protected for a limited time period. That almajiri is my position. Ideally you want to reduce protection tariff annually until it's zero rated. For it come at the cost of the consumers and economy.
Otherwise, you will create One Dangote and 133 million poor Nigerians. The poverty capital of the world. Poverty has increased while Buhari is talking propaganda about rice and import substitution
India with 1.5billion people have reduced their poverty now to about 80M.
theenchanter: I thought one idiot said Kenya is a free market that allows competition.
Dealing with Ghanians I have come to realize is akin to minning for gold in the galamsey. You have to dig a lot of dirt just to get a few nuggets of gold at end of the day.
popizaino: I'm aware of their modus operandi,i must commend you for having the patience to tolerate their shenanigans in the most matured way possible.
Just40: Don't have time to read your desperate rants kiddo ..... You've been posting this same pic for 2 years now and nothing has changed. The political front in Ghana is more developed than Kenya and it results is evident enough.
Ghana is not your mate... We left you far behind 15 years ago..
Focus on getting Kenyans into a good living condition.... Ghana has focused and made every Ghanaian better off and a Ghanaian can wake up in the morning with peace of mind knowing that when they put in the work, they will make a good living.
A reasonable person who is sensible will know that Ghana is not his mate especially when your messed up of a country have failed on all front in your various comparison with Ghana... Basically not a single front of development did Kenya ever come ahead of Ghana.... Turn your frustrations yo Kenya failed system that has left you guys undeveloped and made millions of kenyans extremely poor You tried manufacturing you failed You went to tourism and you failed You went to export and you failed You went to education and Kenya failed Health and Kenya still failed You jumped to roads and Kenya did miserably You went to electricity and it was even shameful You went to economy, standard of living, HDI and Kenya was still bad You came to housing only for us to find out that your entire country is a slum
A sensible person will have shame but no, for a Kenyan, he must rinse and repeat.
When you're bored with your life in Kenya, you come up here to make stupid arguments even in the face of facts
I am here to inform, to challenge, to educate and sometimes to entertain. I really enjoy smashing the heads of low IQ morons with putdowns they cant comeback for few days. Obaboon today is nursing one such injury . Ultimately I will happy if you can improve even slightly your standards - of thinking, of living, of engagement and elevate the debate. Of course I do realize the average IQ sometimes makes most of us here almost mentally retarded - so I get torrents of base abuses - when I have not attacked your mother - but your country.
Heck what beef when I attack 1) Ghana smuggling and 2) Ghana politician - which explain why Ghana has failed to develop and looks almost gross.
Reasonable person would 1) Admit the problem 2) explain what Ghana is doing about it - and we end the debate. But deny deny deny - is sign of low IQ.
If you say Kenya is corrupt or has slums or ect - I will admit. Then explain what we are doing or ought to be doing. I will not the DEFEND the INDEFENSIBLE.
Just40: You're so desperate to compare your country to ours but on all front Kenya has turned up mediocre ... Rest
The difference between these two pics is that the Kenyan one has a huge slum in the entire distance with some 10 apartment... Meanwhile in the Ghana one . .you see stretch upon stretch of good living
Kibera alread has more tall buildings than all Ghana cities combined. And 5,000 units are under construction. And to quote Ruto “God willing, by the end of my term, I want to change Kibera to be a real estate, not a slum,” Ruto said.
Below is Kibera Soweto Slum Upgraded apartments - more than all tall building in Ghana...with rusted ramshackles every direction you look.
Look at the 5,000 units being constructed by Intex in Kibera. Kibera resident will pay 20 dollars for rent+mortgage - and own it - after 20yrs in tenant purchase scheme - and this replicated in all slums.
Already this bigger than your central accra and airport combined - and Ruto has not even started.
WHERE IS YOUR GOLD, OIL AND MINERALS GOING TO --answer in really small font - stolen by chinese gangs in cahoot with your politicians
vaxx: you are free to rant but don't bark. I am anoy talking about the biggest slum, it is just about day lifestyle of your fellow country men
This is almost better than best part of your towns and cities.
vaxx: you mean this is where you call home country .... Nairobi... This is where you will see kenyans. You can't avoid to share house with rich indians and Chinese. In my country. It is the opposite.
You are an idiot ,if literacy begoth corruption then your literacy is valueless. Deal with your bigger shit, Your governance system is way too corrupt. Very porous.
Corruption PERCEPTION index. I think Ghana you have a problem where you have accepted corruption and dont even recognise it. You cannot even "PERCEIVE" what corruption is. Kenya we are very literate and aware of what corruption is. You see guy defending politicians in worse form of corruption that involve poisoning rivers, fish and ecosystem
No wonder you country look like a nuclear war aftermath - everywhere is grim, rusted and rotten.
vaxx: I have given you fact,on corruption index , your country is way more corrupt than mine , what fact again do you want ? . You are from a mini country with higher corruption index than more populated country like Nigeria . 178 against 73 that is far above madness. That shows the hullabaloo in your country. Your country has a far more poor people sinking into poverty daily than mine , your entire northern nation is barren, nature cursed you, mismanagement of government sinks you as well.
If looking at improvised Kenya is a standard of a country, I don't pray for Togo to follow suits. Turkana your nothern part is a mini demo of hell-fire . I am typing from northern Ghana , I have access to what an f- slur nairobian like you will term luxurious.
More insults than facts. I have put documentaries some two months where mercury is literally poured on the river. Your rivers have turned into dirty muggy murky mercury soaked flow of poision. Your land has turned into open pits filled with breeding mosquitos. And your unaccounted gold is huge.
Take a quick look at Kenya - and see what barren country has achieved - and what Ghana with gold - could have achieved - lot more.
Heck why dont you spend some of money in proper police and military - you have one lowest budget spending on security. I see military budget is something laughable like 250M dollars. Far cry from at least 2% of you GDP.
That is why Ghana is NO DIFFERENT from DRC - where anyone just do whatever they want. The policing and security is totally absent - kenya you cannot even cut a tree in a forest - leave alone drive huge excavators - and start digging around for gold.
And the reason is obvious - we spend 1.2B dollars on military - 400M dollars on National Intelligence - we spend 1.5-2B dollars in police/paramilary/provinc admin. I dont even want to count what we spend on forest and wildlife guards.
The entire security sector could well have expenditure of 5B dollars - and in kenya - trust me you cannot cut a tree in public forest or kill a wildlife without being nabbed shortly.
vaxx: You don't have the guts to talk to me on government responsibility , Kenya ranks 178 in corruption index while Ghana ranks 73 index . You must be mad to think you can compare the transparency between this two . Ghana is not a country where any middle eastern nation can buy up any farm land , if it happens in shit hole kenya , it is not gonna happened here . Lands belong to the indeginous people of ghana and her gold.
I don't know where you get the issue of mercury, An outdated method of excavating Gold . Are you mad for talking what you don't know.
JW Marriott's are in a higher tier than traditional Marriott hotels. Rates are usually at a higher premium than standard Marriotts. You will normally see a higher quality hotel in terms of building structure, furniture and linens used in rooms and in the bathrooms. What you have are Marriots hotels - not JW Marriots - which are 5-7 star hotels - only found I reckon in Egypt and Mauritus - and now Nairobi
Quick Google - there are only two JW Marriot - Cairo and Mauritus (going for 600usd plus a night)
obaaderemi: Little things always tickle little Indians.
So you are just getting a Marriot hotel and you think it's something substantial? Marriot that has been in Ghana and Nigeria before now. Smh., this guy is damaged. He can't sleep or breathe without thinking about Nigeria and Ghana and comparing his broke country with those two countries he wants his country to be like.
Which scanner in porous borders around you country slowpoke. The fact is Ghana has 9 B dollar export of undeclared gold. This article in your own press.
If you were a serious country - you would put ghana gov official in every gold site - and right in the refinery. Otherwise you expect people to dig the dirt, pour mercury, do all illegal stuff, then rush to you central bank to cut you the cheque?
vaxx: Gold is not ivory or macadamia nuts from kenya that can easily be smuggled idiot You will need more inovation to fool the scanner machine
I understand that is easy for chinese to smuggle this item ( ivory and macadamia nuts easily from kenya) it isn't same with Ghana .
Kenya doesnt produce land. The land corruption happen in 1960s as British settlers land was returned back to Kenya. After that - where is "new" land to be stolen every year.
Just40: Kenyans politicians are busy stealing lands that should be going to Kenyan families and busy selling it to foreign states that will use it to grow food for themselves while Kenyans continue to starve.
That is why poverty is so endemic in Kenya.
Ghanaian politicians are smart enough to have make sure that Ghanaians benefit massively from their gold resources such that Ghanaians have massively escape poverty and become more resilient in their socioeconomics.
Gold is smuggled daily from Ghana, DRC and such pathetic countries. Again you declare 10 - 9B is out there undeclared. The maximum amount based on what?
Just40: You're just dumb .... Ghana declares 10 billion dollars worth of Gold and that is the maximum amount of gold from Ghana production which comes from PMMC and large producers.
The highlighted shows that you know nothing about gold
Gold is not Elephant tusk that you can easily smuggle out of Kenya or Cocaine that can be easily smuggle out of Kenya.
Try transport gold in a luggage and scanners will pick it up... Infact you won't even get it to buy even at the refinery or mining sites.
Politicians in other countries are entrusted to protect the national and local interest of people - not to lead in illegal galamsy that deny Ghana revenues, that poison rivers and create open pits that become mosquito homes
Your politicians have failed you more than any I can think about.
Kenya politicians steal gov revenues - they are not out there in forest pouring mercury.
So you politician generally have LOW IQ - if they worked for Ghana - they would ensure that 9 billion go into gov coffers - and they can steal without killing their own people with mercury.
Just40: Who said only politicians alone? Once you're a Ghanaian with money, you can get a prospecting license under the small skill mining regulations...
Politicians are few in the business compare to regular Ghanaians who are majorly pumping those gold money into real estate.
The politicians are the ones who can easily get Chinese slave labour into the country, do for now they are the focus because they cause the most damage.
slowpoke smuggling is simple. What Ghana officially declares as gold they sold. What China, India, UAE and others receive as gold from Ghana. Ghana declares about 7B. The market receive more tonnages - another 9 B dollars.
Gold is something easy to smuggle - so dont even argue about this. Those chinese just carry them in their brief cases or as necklaces.
Just40: yet Ghanaian gold miners all have their monies getting cleared through the Bank of Ghana.
Do you know what smuggling is?
Smuggling is not when a Ghanaian is legally permitted to load gold unto a jet yo his buyer in India, UAE and etc and receives his payment through a receipt holding account with BOG for large clearance
Why are politician excelling in Gold business. Why not other businessmen or investors. What make the politicians with political power such ferocious investors in gold business. If you were not mentally deranged with fellow Ghanian you would know corruption for what it is. For now it deny deny deny.
Your politician have been bribed by Chinese to smuggle your gold for a piece of Kente cloth.
Just40: No it is not corruption because they are doing it legally with registered companies.
Do you even understand what you're talking about?
Gold dust come out of refine gold.
Desperation is what will make you make these kind of comments.
