Politics › Re: Why Is It That True Lagosian Always Bear A Foreign Or English Surname ? by Saao(m): 8:35pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
Legendguy: Just like Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour that contesting for governor of Lagos, Funsho Doherty also running for governor of Lagos bears an English surname. Former lagos governorship candidate, Funsho Williams bears an English surname, compared to typical yorubas from south west hinterlands that bears their native surname. Is there a reason for true lagosians to bear foreign surnames while making their first name yoruba name? but that of Vivour is different. It simply means Survivor. He is one of the Lucky slaves that survive and was returned alive so he bore the name vivour that's Survivor. |
Politics › Re: The Owners Of Lagos by Saao(m): 6:38pm On Mar 07, 2023 |
Biodun556: 1.The Aworis:
more than 70% of Lagos is own by the Aworis. The Benin met the Aworis on Lagos island, conquered them, and the Oba of Benin impose his son as king on Lagos Island alone. Other parts of Lagos are governed by Awori traditional rulers. Even on the island, the chiefs surrounding the king are Yorubas Note that Awori is a Yoruba tribe and Lagos island is one out of 20 local govt in Lagos.
2. Ijebus:
Epe, Ibeju Leki, and Ikorodu are parts of Lagos owned by the Ijebus. An account suggest that these parts of Lagos have being in existence under traditional rulers before Benin invaded the Aworis on Lagos island.
3. Ogu popular called Egun in Yoruba:
This set of people speak different language. Some of them are Yorubas. They own some parts of Badagry.
4. Egbas:
They are originally from Abeokuta. They own some parts of Agege and Ifako-ijaiye.
5. Slave returnees:
When slave trade was abolished. Some slaves that were returned settled in Lagos and become part of the indigene.
Also note:
The reason you may find it difficult to see Lagos indigene in commercial areas is because when Lagos was Federal Capital Territory, many indigenes were displaced because of government aquisition of land. For instance, the Murtala Muhammed international airport was built on land occupied by a whole village called Ewu. These villagers were relocated to pave way for the airport
Most people living in surulere were evicted from Lagos island your second to the last paragraph reminded me of Abuja. Most of the indigene of Abuja were driven away because of federal capital. The main indigene you hardly see them in the town. |

hotwax: Olooto kan oni ku sipo ika
My fellow Yoruba brothers were mocking Sunday Igboho when DSS attacked his house in an attempt to assasinate him. They mocked Yoruba nation agitators just for fighting Yoruba course.
Herdsmen ransacked some part of Ibarapa local government in Ibadan, my fellow Yorubas started attacking Sunday Igboho for standing up to Killer Herdsmen. Yoruba interest was not paramount to them then.
When Osinbajo indicated interest to contest for Presidency, Yoruba interest Yoruba ronu was not paramount. It was even fellow Yorubas talking him down. Calling him all sort of names. He is Judas, he is Omo ale, he is this, he is that.
But when Kolu decided its his turn, they started saying Yoruba Agenda. Its time for Yoruba. So Obasanjo is not Yoruba. He did 8years. Osinbajo a Yoruba man also did 8years as VP. So what Yoruba turn are we talking about. Must it be Kolu? Must baba Kolu be president?
Now Lagos election is next week. They started calling some of us Omo ale for voting Labour Party. They are blaming us for selling lagos to Ibos.
My dear Yoruba brothers, you can not eat your cake and have it back. You are anti-Yoruba nation, you stood for One Nigeria. If you are standing for One Nigeria, then Lagos is One Nigeria. Lagos was the former FCT. So all tribes in Nigeria have stakes in it. Thats why we fought for Yoruba nation so that we can be in control of our lands and seas. But you said its one Nigeria you want. Lagos is One Nigeria, so any tribe should be able to govern it.
Then come Gbadebo Vivor. They are claiming he is Igbo. Gbadebo father is an Aboriginal Yoruba people of Lagos. Gbadebo father is more Lagosian than Tinubu who came from Osun state. Ekiti, Osun, Ibadan people be claiming Omo Onile in Lagos. The real Yoruba settlers in Lagos can as well tell you to go back to your states.
Thats how one owala from Iseyin with his Ilu oke ascent was asking me for omo onile money when i was decking my house. Y'all will be put in your places next saturday election.

If you guys did not stop this campaign of Igbo Yoruba, San olu will lose next week. sanusideunifier: Tinubu "won" But Nigeria Mourns
Nigerians especially the indigenous people had opted for a New Nigeria for a number of reasons but most people are shortsighted. I can tell you that Tinubu "won" but Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Hausa, Efik, Igala, Southern Kaduna, Benue, Plateau etc lost big. No one won except Tinubu. Tinubu can't fight the evil he is a part of. The cry, the condolences, the burials unfortunately will continue because nothing actually has changed. We have got into a more dangerous situation. Tinubu by the virtue of his desperate lifestyle, party affiliation, mental strength, religious affiliation lacks the will to stand and even look at the faces of the monsters destroying and killing Nigerians. It's a matter of time those who think they've won will realize we have all actually lost. Tinubu's government is a spaceship heading to an unknown destination, pray it doesn't end in Afghanistan. I totally agree with you. |
