Truly the laws contained in the old testament are still very relevant in the lives of Christians today. Laws like the 10 commandments are very crucial. If any Christian disobey laws in the 10 commandments, there's no way he/she will serve God faithfully.
When Jesus Christ was talking about upholding the law of Moses even though his coming brought about an era of grace, he was talking about improving the laws.
What laws of Moses were improved by Jesus Christ? Lets look at Adultery.
One of the laws in the 10th commandments said "Thou shall not commit adultery. But Jesus Christ went further and said, "if any man looks at a woman lustfully with his eyes has committed adultery with her in his heart." See how Jesus went further and improved the law of Adultery? He put those who commit adultery/fornication physically in the same ladder with those who looks at women lustfully.
This and many more are some of the laws that Christ improved based on love and grace.
How ever there are laws that became redundant after the Death and Resurrection of Christ. Some of these laws include, animal sacrifice for forgiveness of sins (Christians no longer have to sacrifice animals to seek forgiveness of sins). Use of priest to pray for an individuals and stand as intermediaries between man and God (Every single Christian now have DIRECT access to God) We can pray to our God at any time and anywhere. This was not the case during the time of Moses.
