By Zolan Kanno-Youngs Jan. 31, 2020 Updated 9:36 p.m. ET The New York Times
WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday added six countries to his list of nations facing stringent travel restrictions, a move that will virtually block immigration from Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria, and from Myanmar, where the Muslim minority is fleeing genocide.
The proclamation will take effect on February 22. Immigrants who obtain visas before then will still be able to travel to the United States, officials said. Nonimmigrant visas, including those for students and certain temporary workers, as well as visas reserved for potential employees with specialized skills, will not be affected by the ban.

Reelee: Hello Fam,
So let me post the questions I was asked:
Why are you travelling? To attend a friends wedding Where do you work? What do you do there? Family composition? Places I had travelled to?
While trying to respond to the last question, the VO just cut in and approved the visa.
The denial rate was high; between 80 - 85% of visa applications were deniedwhile bias there; from pastors, students, corporate workers, grand mothers going to take care of grand children, to tourists and visitors.
It was really sad seeing people being denied after the 60k expended.
I strongly believe that the system already 'pre-approves' or 'pre-denies' visa applications cos the VO wasnt interested in my responses and kept on looking at his system. I felt he just wanted to be sure some of the details in the application corresponds with the responses I provided. Exactly my thought too. thanks for sharing |

This is the most intelligent information I've seen so far. God bless you dearie. You just ignited me to press on & be focused. Please share positive stuffs like this not denial or Nigeria has been blacklisted. People get VISA daily why not see yourself as one.... Once again thanks Dearie.. Championwinner: na so we dey go... like one yeye ball wey one yeye breeze dey blow for one yeye corner Obtaining a US visa isn't nearly as difficult as people fear. There are a couple of tips one must know, in order to ensure the first attempt is successful.
The problem is many applicants fail to research thoroughly on the methodology and ideology of the US consulars before charging headlong to put in their applications.
While applying by oneself is good, it is always better to seek the expertise of genuine and approved Visa & Protocol consultants to increase one's chances of getting the visa.
Let us look at some of the tips to take note of when considering submitting an application for the US and appearing before a Consular at an interview.
1. Travel history: the US is partial to applicants who have travelled outside of their countries/continents at least once and within the last 3-5 years before the application. This is a major factor the consular considers before making a decision to approve or reject an application.
2. Age: As unusual as this may seem, the average Consular prefers to issue visas to people between the ages of 40 and above than to people below that age bracket. This is because they assume people aged 40+ will have more ties to their home country than anyone else.
3. Marital status: For the US, being married and or with kids is another positive factor that may influence their decision to grant a visa. Married people who are of the of age 40 and above, are more likely to obtain a visa than people outside that demography.
4. Purpose of travel: The purpose of travel for certain individuals should vary from the others. For instance; a young, unmarried applicant is best advised to apply for a B1 visa or a Student H2 Visa; rather than for a B2 tourist visa. The logic behind this is simple. No consular believes an unmarried individual with no children will visit the US for pleasure only and this assumption is further heightened when the applicant also has a poor travel history.
5. Your composure: when appearing before a consular, it is crucial that you maintain a calm and confident composure. Avoiding eye contact, fidgeting or sweating are sure signs that an applicant is either lying, or is desperate to obtain the visa for ulterior reasons. Other factors such as ties to your home country, source of income or nature of job, appearance etc form the basis for a visa approval or denial....
Does this then mean that an applicant is ruled out completely if they fail to meet up with tips 1-4? Certainly not. There are ways to "profile" an applicant into the ideal candidate for obtaining a US visa. |

rago: You must cancel your appointment with the Abuja embassy and reschedule sometimes between March 18-22 2020. Your earliest appointment date should come up a week after, which is the end of the month. You can choose later dates sef.
However, note that you cannot cancel appointment more than twice. Otherwise, you'd have to pay for a new VISA FEES. So I hope you are not canceling a second time.
Now, you are going to cancel and have one more grace.
Goodluck I haven't confirmed my interview yet. I saw the date and stopped. What happens to my DS 160 form? How long does the system keep my forms? Also hope there's no panalty ? |

rago: Abuja, right?
By the way, did you mean to say after filling the scheduling appointment form? I believe it's Abuja. Then, you would have to put off scheduling until later when you are ready.
For Abuja, u can schedule an interview and get a date as close as a few days away.. Tops 1 week. Lagos is way longer.. Yes its Abuja brother. I'm not ready for interview now. So how do i extend the date to march ending 2020? Please share if you know how i can do it. Thank you guys |

bamboobie: I'm currently on H1B, my GC is currently in the works. According to her, the moment she mentioned 4months the VO's countenance changed. She was issued the generic paper that reads her intention to be in the U.S is not consistent with the Visa she applied for. (No home ties I suppose). I think visiting shouldnt be more than 4weeks for a granny. its enough to see the child and get to know everyone. you know these oyibo they think wetin mama won do there for 4months |

Rijo02: If I understood your question correctly - Do you want to know if you can apply for a Canadian study permit from the US while on B2 or you just want to say that you already have a B2 in your passport but haven't traveled with it? If it is the former, you can't do that as B2 doesn't give you "right of residence" in the US. Whereas if you just have a B2 visa without having traveled to the US, my guess is that it depends on the VO's discretion. While it doesn't prove a travel history (as you haven't gone for the journey and returned), a VO can use that to prove that you (your application) can be "trusted" since the US had given you a visa.
All of the above are just my views!!! I dont have to tell the canada VO of my current location. If the student visa is approved that means i'd return to 9ja & leave from here right? |

Echinedu1: Canada place an important weight on travel history in accessing your visit visa application ,especially if your travel reason is not for family visit ...you have not visited even Ghana or uk or usa or any eu and you wake up and decide Canada is your tourist destination ,you are highly likely to be refused even with 50 million in your account Talk what you know ..not what you don't know. You can travel for the first time and get a VISA. You can also travel to the 7 continents and still be refused a visa. Everything depends on your paper work, purpose and genuine reason for the trip. |
