I think we have higher priorities than persecuting gays, banning in public places and the media rather than criminalising is an option. Get this loud and clear! "Once you decriminalise, you cannot ban".That is like shooting yourself in the balls and then say you want to procreate. |

hercules07: Those who sued the government to court in Uganda sued based on that technicality, they did that because it was a slam dunk, they knew they would get relieve based on that. The Congress can form a quorum to pass the bill again, the guys will just sue based on African Charter on Human Rights or any of those Charters that Uganda has signed. Your rights are not privileges, they are your rights, they are affirmed by the constitution of the country but they are fundamental to you. What part of African Charter on Human Rights supports homosexuality? Or sees it as a right? Who told you any signed charter (if at all any supports homosexuality) is legally binding? Now after scaling those impossible 2 leading questions, what makes you think the implementation of the articles of a charter are not dependent on local interpretation of the charter? |

ugopumping: Nigeria's First Lady in outrage over missed trip to Washington, D.C
by, Rachel Rabinowitz Lagos, Nigeria July,31,2014
Reports emanating from Aso Rock yesterday indicated that the wife of Nigeria's President, Patience Jonathan, after being informed that she would not be accompanying her husband to the United States, flew into a rage and slapped a Protocol Officer and an unnamed female Minister in her husband's cabinet accusing them of infidelity and trying to break up her marriage. She has reportedly insisted that they be fired immediately.
https://user319764.websitewizard.com/images/001-new-AA/Patience-Jonathan-jo.jpg Nigeria's First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan, who has been in the news lately for less than praise worthy reasons, is expected to attend the U.S/Africa Presidents summit in Washington, DC, next monday. Always known to travel with a very large entourage that could rival any Super Star rapper's posse, President Jonathan leads one of the largest contingent to the summit with a 77 man crew.
In a telephone interview, the Media Assistant to Mrs Jonathan, Ayo Adewuyi, denied that she had assaulted anyone.
"This is a complete fabrication of the events that happened and which you are calling about", he said. "It is true that Mommy (Mrs.Jonathan) was upset about not being included in the trip because she wanted to use this opportunity to meet with Michelle Obama and explain what is really going on with the Chibok issue".
"As you know, she has been lambasted in the press, especially on social media, and her position on the saga has been grossly misconstrued. She would have loved to sit down with Mrs.Obama to forge a cooperation agreement and working relationship on how incidents like that could be avoided in the future. Besides, as an African woman, her role is to be next to her husband and to guide him where he falters or is lacking. She might still make the trip, we are working out the modalities", he concluding before abruptly ending the interview.
President Jonathan, with a very low approval rating and facing an uphill task in elections slated for February 2015, has been rumored with having extra marital affairs with at least two of his top female cabinet members, one of whom happens to be the powerful director of the country's Petroleum Agency, Diezani Madueke, wife of a former Naval Chief.
He is also prone to scandal.
In 2011, during the CHOGM summit in Melbourne, Australia, he failed to show up even though he was supposed to be one of the keynote speakers. There were reports of partying into the wee hours of the morning and a President in a drunken stupor accounting for why he couldn't attend the summit, in the local Nigerian press. Other reports alleged an incident with a Sri Lankan prostitute, which was said to have been hushed because of diplomatic reasons. A few members of his entourage were reportedly issued life bans from ever visiting Australia again as a result of the alleged incident.
Mrs Goodluck Jonathan herself is not averse to controversy. In 2009, while her husband was the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa, in the Niger-Delta region, she was arrested at the International Airport in Lagos while attempting to transport $13.5million in her carry-on Luggage to Kuwait.
Again, in 2011, a woman claiming to be a courier for the then Governor's wife, was also caught trying to smuggle $15million en route to Switzerland.
Nigeria, ravaged with endemic corruption, high unemployment and a terror insurgency is due for Presidential elections in early 2015.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ Does the fat monstrosity in even understand what a "cooperation agreement" means? Can she even pronounce it? |

lastpage: PLEASE STOP THIS YOUR DELIBERATE "MISINFORMATION"!
First, you need to check your dictionary properly, to educate yourself on what the phrase "expression" means, especially in the context of its constitutional protection. FYI: It refers basically to your right and ability to SAY WHAT IS ON YOUR MIND. It is a "verbal priviledge" given to us by the constitution .. .....and the same constitution ALSO went ahead to PUT LIMITS on that FREEDOM, with punishment for SLANDER and DEFAMATION. All these are used in the "CONTEXT OF SPEECH"". So, it is NEVER ABSOLUTE!
Now, how on earth can a person who has passed through the four walls of any school, l mean any school at all, equate "open practice of Homosexuality" with Freedom of speech? Sex, albeit perverse sex is "an act", not "a speech" and therefore is NOT COVERED by that fundamental human right jargon you spewed up there.
Again, most of you perverts like to compare "Oranges with Apples", not because you are not very intelligent but because you think you can befuddle everyone by mixing-things-up!
Having Anal S*ex with same specie has been since God knows when, it even pre-dates Biblical times. Then, it was a cardinal sin worthy of being stoned to death but hey, this is the 21st century where "everything goes", right? But the problem is not with gays taking a dig at each others Shyte-Hole, THE PROBLEM IS WITH gays TRYING TO IMPRESS AND FORCE THEIR PERVERSE CHOICE ON OTHERS! For example, why take it to primary schools and be teaching young and impressionable kids that Homosexuality is right and they can choose to be so? Why not leave them to grow-up into an adult and then let them DECIDE of their own FREEWILL, if they fancy such? This is just one example of where they court trouble!
Again, this article made it clear WHY THE LAW WAS STRUCK DOWN ....but you chose to "celebrate and jump-up" without even taking a closer look at it before serving notice to Nigeria! READ IT AGAIN PLEASE!
The Supreme court struck the law down for one simple reason: IT WAS PASSED WITHOUT FORMING A QUORUM IN THE HOUSE. In case you missed it as well, "Quorum" means at least "two-thirds" of all parliamentarians MUST BE PRESENT during voting (ofcourse we know that it was overwhelmingly passed by those present, but the "at least three objections mentioned were even about "the lack of quorum", not about the law itself)
Thus, the Supreme court of Uganda is right is striking it down, NOT FOR ITS MORAL DEFICIT, BUT FOR LACK OF QUORUM!
What this simply translates to is that the House of Parliament will RE-CONVENE, ENSURE THERE IS QUORUM AND PASS THE LAW AGAIN!
Now, one cannot underestimate the pressure being mounted on individual parliamentarian, by America in particular, which in itself is an abuse of Democracy because they should be able to vote according to their conscience, NOT OUT OF FEAR OF WHAT AMERICA CAN DO TO THEM OR HOW IT CAN RUIN THEIR ECONOMY! Already, we have seen those "underhand tactics" at play! Were is the constitutionality in that?
As for Nigeria going the same route, that is your own wishful thinking! We ensured there was Quorum and so, the Supreme court will have no excuse to "bend to pressure".
Lastpage! Well said, mate! The whole basis of the homosexual propaganda is total misinformation to dumb impressionable and cool-wannabe people and kids. That is why I love intellectually challenging them. I hardly even hate the perverts, what I hate is the lies and misinformation the band about to demand acceptance and tell us we need to integrate their filth in society. I don't give a fck what disgusting thing you do in your bedroom. Don't tell me, don't ask me to accept it, don't make an attempt to make me aware of it. Talkless of trying to tell me I need to teach my kids it is acceptable so they turnout to be fcktards like rocgirl. We should not give this deviants an inch. You don't need legalisation of filth to do whatever you want to do in your bedroom. That is the extent of "human rights" we should give them. I myself was laughing when the fcktards did not comprehend the reason why the law was quashed. I bet the Western government are putting pressure on the corrupt fcktards in government, but I am sure the people would return the pressure to push them back. The Western government scream democracy but do not want to see it practiced when it involves their homosexuals. |

Sports › World Juniors Fall-out: How Athletics Officials Planned To Fail by Sagamite(op): 1:38am On Aug 02, 2014 |
Is it that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria officials do not want to learn or simply they are just a plan- less bunch? The IAAF world junior championships ended last Sunday in Eugene, Oregon USA with Divine Oduduru winning 200m silver; sparing the country the embarrassment of not winning a single medal just like the last edition 2012 in Barcelona Spain.
The team that went to Oregon, paraded some of the best juniors that Nigeria has ever produced in recent times and from all indications, these youngsters were poised to make a name for themselves and bring glory to their country, but it was a pity they weren’t well managed to achieve their true potentials.
The athletes had relatively good preparations as they camped in Sapele, Delta State for up to three months and they were hopefully looking forward to doing well in the USA, but their dreams soon fizzled out when traveling arrangements was almost bungled. This affected their performances.
A case in point was that of Ese Brume, who had a leading performance of 6.68m going to the championships. But she only arrived a day to her event and of course being an athlete who easily loses her concentration, she failed to progress to the final of the women long jump as she stumbled with a 5.18m jump in the qualifiers.
Others like Kehinde Olubodun, Bashiru Abdullahi practically collapsed in the men’s 100m and 110m hurdles respectively. Samson Oghenewegba Nathaniel and Asekunle Rilwan Fasasi failed to find their level in the 400m. While these were going on in Day one and two of the championships, Akerele Omezia and Tega Odele who were supposed to run the 400m and 200m respectively, were still in Lagos battling to catch their flights having obtained visas late.
“We planned to fail at the World juniors, the AFN messed up,” said an athletics coach who pleaded for anonymity.
“It was only 12 days to go that they started the visa procurement process. When actually they have been in camp for three months.
“All the team members could not get their visas at once because some of them were not even informed that they were needed at the embassy for interview.
“Things were so messed up and it was a harrowing experience for the athletes. An athlete like Oluwa Tobiloba, despite the fact that her mum had to pay the visa fee did not eventually make the trip and she was our brightest hope for a medal in the hurdles. This was a girl who did a 13.8 run in Calabar during the trials.
“Omezia and Odele arrived late and this was why we couldn’t win any medal in the relays. In the women’s 4x400m, the coaches even had to field an athlete that was not fit,” said the coach.
He absolved his colleagues, who accompanied the athletes to the tournament of any blame.
“As I am talking to you, some of the coaches who were in camp with the athletes in Sapele have not been paid their allowances.
“Even when they were in camp, the athletes were left on their own. There was no transportation for them to the venue. If not for Solomon Aliu, who made his bus available and Olu Sule, who provided finance for some of their basic needs, I don’t know what would have become of the exercise.”
He said that Nigerian athletics officials must attach much importance to the junior programme since it was the bedrock of any development that will be embarked upon in the future.
In 2012, the Nigerian juniors were subjected to ridicule at the Spanish embassy in Lagos as athletics officials in part failed to make necessary arrangements on time. This was besides the fact that some individuals with connections to officials of the embassy wrote a derogatory letter casting aspersions on the Nigerian team. Some of the athletes were given visas and others who were the better legs were denied. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/world-juniors-fall-athletics-officials-planned-fail/ |

Yep, they sure are good in sports that are not that popular. But they are fast becoming better internationally than a nation of mediocrity celebrators in athletics who rejoice with "we don try". How many times has she buckled at the big stage of Olympics and World championships? Where she would be one of the favourites, only to end up running behind even her season's best in the final race, while her competitors run a blast. She has done well here and is obviously our only athletic star after the collapse of athletics in Nigeria, but by no means is she that reliable. It may not be her fault, but she is definitely not consistent. |
