prettyprettywow: Thanks for your analysis. But will you also say that Nigerian nurses and other medical workers are well paid compared to their counterparts in US? your ability to earn high salary depends on the hours you put into your work. Imagine your sister pulling 140k with just an LVN? imagine making 2,200 with just 3weeks certificate program?can you compare that to the salary of a matron in Nigerian tertiary hospital? My main point is that there are things to put into consideration when making comparison on salaries abroad and home and between professionals. And yes, Nigerian health workers are grossly under paid not just the Drs. You don't just pull out a figure out of nowhere like the OP did and expect people to digest it just like that. Thanks once more
As far as I am concerned, the only comparison that makes them appear underpaid is when in comparison with politicians. Otherwise their pay is very aligned to the economy, their skills, their productivity and their worth.

What we need to put our money towards are equipment and training so we don't have fucktards like phantom and ArabianPrince being killers.

Dodfather: Shame on everyone here abusing doctors that will ever consult a doctor for illness or anything.
To you all, Nigerian doctors don't know a thing and are proud.
From this moment on always consult johesu and traditionalist but if you do otherwise, a big shame on you all.
Considering what I know of most Nigerian doctors, if I ever fall ill while in Nigeria, as long as I can still move, I am effing flying out ASAP.

I no wan die.

And no point going private to be charged an arm and a leg for minimal quality in Nigeria's private sector when I can get super quality for nothing in the UK.

When my parents are ill in Nigeria, I fly them out ASAP, instead of wasting my money on quacks and mediocres in Nigeria.

ziga: I can see children dying means absolutely nothing to you.

And this reflects the midset of a few selfish Nigerians, as well as the mindse of the people who lead us!!!
It seems you are too thick to even comprehend sarcasm.

If I call you a dunce will you say "Yes, Sir"?
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 2:12pm On Jul 13, 2014
ziga: That is what happens in places where their leaders care about the health of their people.

Well... In the past, cars didn't even have seatbelts. But these days you have cars with 16 airbags.

Nigeria's health system is still in the stone ages because the health system clearly is run by people who have no interest in improving the quality of life for Nigerians.

In Nigeria, we can't be bothered with quality of care yet when we don't have enough Docs and the few we have are being enticed by foreign countries that appreciate them.

Our children are dying from malaria and disabled by polio and our mothers are dying in childbirth.
Abeg, no dey talk opata!

Improve what?

If you are not happy, call your lawyers and sue! grin grin grin

Your child na the first to die? Would he be the last to die? So what is your problem, you bloody slave of the British Credit System? grin grin grin grin grin

carefreewannabe: It is a disgrace to the profession to make such a statement whose lives depend on you.

I guess some Nigerian physicians have never heard anything of the Hippocratic Oath undecided
He is a Doctor, but I, who lives on "British Credit System" (as our Nigerian Doctor referred to it grin grin grin grin ), know more about patient care than he does. grin grin grin grin grin

A person that cannot even research what the welfare system in the UK is called is a DOCTOR in Nigeria. How is he going to research diseases and ailments? undecided

carefreewannabe: See how clever the first lady is grin grin grin She knows where to get high quality treatment wink grin

Imagine a hospital ASKING you to complain in case you are not satisfied with the work they did for you even though you paid very little.

I gave them very high ranking for most of the categories and even got some presents for the doctors and nurses. They did a GREAT job and treated us like Obamas smiley
In Nigeria, phantom would kill, disable or misdiagnose your relative and then tell you "Shut up! Sue us if you are not happy".

But he wants to be paid something close to the German doctors! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 1:34pm On Jul 13, 2014
carefreewannabe: A relative was released from a German hospital on Friday. The hospital management gave us an evaluation sheet to rank the staff, doctors and nurses, cleanliness, friendliness, treatment and so on and so forth. We were even asked to make suggestions as to what can be done better in future. And all this even though we didn't pay anything except for the monthly insurance, which is quite cheap.
What a USELESS German hospital.

Bunch of cretins!

You better tell them to come and learn from our Superstar Nigerian doctors like phantom to tell you " F you! Sue us if you like". grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

And when I call these fucktards fucktards dem go dey vex. grin

No wonder their pot-bellied first lady runs to Germany for treatment and avoids the quacks. undecided

ArabianPrince: Haha....Consultant. Yelling person on public forum. Once others view are not same as yours...means they are person. Because you put your location as London don't mean people who don't do same are in the village.

So only Uk Doctors are sane?.....Am sure Nigerian Doctors practicing in the Uk are reading your moronic post. It is only a local e-diot that spews trash like yours.
Bilewu...no excuse for a "F..ucktard yelling self acclaimed shiit head consultant. You asked for it...... Sperm burping peckham street thug. grin grin grin

pointing fingers at your country from the comfort of another mans country and you want me to discuss cerebral ish with you? yeah right!

dimobro: Lets not forget what obtains in other developed countries is different from that of Nigeria. The federal government should at least improve the working conditions of these doctors. All the medical equipment and facilities in our hospitals are not up to international standard. God bless Nigeria.
They are better off expending any additional budget to improve the equipment and training of the hospitasl and staff, than giving more money to certified quack grim-reapers.
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 12:54pm On Jul 13, 2014
phantom: direct your issues and questions to lawyers.
This is the person that thinks he is underpaid compared to Western doctors? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

A sane professional, like the ones we have in the UK, would think about patient care and start exploring how to collate the errors, do some root-cause analysis and then talk about solving the problem.

But this person of Nigeria says "Fck you, sue us if you want". grin grin grin grin grin grin
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 12:51pm On Jul 13, 2014
tk4rd: And what does "Highest Average" supposed to mean.? If he wants to talk about average, then, let him talk about average. If he want to talk about highest, let him talk about highest..
You would soon understand what Highest Average means.

A Mckinsey/Goldman Sachs consultant, called ArabianPrince, is about to tell us what this cutting edge terminology means. grin

Lets see if he would tell us or pick race and run. grin
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 12:49pm On Jul 13, 2014
slyzy: Forget that thing! How many doctors have been sued in Nig in proportion to the number of pple they give permanent disabilty with injection we see limping about? What of those they kill with misdiagnosis? Have u not heard of cases that they forget some tool in a patient stomach after operation? An the chain continues... An average Nigerian will let go even if the doctor tries to deny unprofessionalism saying is the will of God. So, how many doctors are sued in Nig as u are trying to claim?
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

But some of these quacks think they should be paid relative to doctors in the UK or USA. grin

phantom: jumping from thread to thread screaming "person" like your life depends on it.....lol......f******king i.mbecile.
the world would have been a much better place if you had trickled down your mums thighs and ended up as a yellowish-brown stain on the bed sheets.....lol
person, is this now an attempt to divert from the fact that you moronically did not know the essence of utilisation of public funds? grin grin grin grin grin grin

You don't want to talk about "essence" again, quack product of a failed education system and potential state-sponsored murderer! grin
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 12:44pm On Jul 13, 2014
ArabianPrince: I find it funny when a Professor of English claiming to be knowledgeable in consulting..... finds it hard to understand the term "Highest Average" And he wants the services of a top notch personal physician. How would he appreciate such services?.
Considering the above.... If I have my way, I would ban such a person from operating in any consulting firm.
AHHH!

Please, person, translate it for me.

Let me learn or be entertained. grin

I wait. cool
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m):
phantom: coming from sagamite.........a board certified re.tard. grasping at straws as usual while his betters argue the essence.....lol
person, someone certified you as a doctor? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

No wonder the life expectancy in Nigeria is in the early 50s. grin

Now I get it, in a person's view, the essence is not 'value for money' in the public sector. The government should just throw the money away at inferior productivity and products. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

God save Nigeria.

Moronic nation, moronic people!
HealthRe: Salaries Of Doctors And Other Health Workers In Some Countries by Sagamite(m): 11:35am On Jul 13, 2014
phantom: I am a snr registrar in radiology.my salary is barely $1500/month. my junior colleagues in the US earn about >$5000/ month.even if government adjusts the scale like we are asking, I still wouldn't earn up to $2000/mth. so what is the heaven and earth we are asking for? I have been collecting 5000naira per month hazard allowance ($30) for years. have the heavens fallen? I still do my job. what is the special thing you think we are asking for?
Considering you are a qualified "medical doctor" that does not know how to start a sentence with capital letters, I suspect you are overpaid in comparison to your US counterparts.

Never compare yourself to Western counterparts considering the quality of their education and their productivity.

If I had the choice, just based on looking at your post, I would not let you be in charge of any healthcare I receive. I like to see from all evidence that my personal physician is top notch.
