kingphilip: The problems I have with this fifa n Nigeria's interference saga is simple....
Does fifa which is based in Switzerland not bound by the laws of Switzerland? The federal government never took nff to court but a stakeholder did dat Hw does that concern d government?
A court of competent jurisdiction took a decision n fifa suspended Nigeria... wat I want to know is dat does fifa not obey laws that are instituted by the Swiss government? Fifa is full of bunch of hypocrites

BTW nice move by the fg...
The point of FIFA is that, any issue that would amount to the removal of leaders should not take place in any local courts. All should take place with board members participation under the rules stated by FIFA. If you do not like the outcome of that process, then you can go to FIFA. And if you are still not happy then you can go to the International Court of Sports Arbitration (or something like that name).

I will surprise you by saying that makes a lot of sense because imagine you allow each association to be subject to local laws, then you would have madness. The process created by FIFA creates some level of consistency and reliability.

How many nations are sane and have a sane justice system? How many would have corrupt judges who would make mockery of justice?

You will just have a frequent monthly change of FA officials and lack of continuity that it would affect the football in most countries. You will have the kind of madness we have when we let fucktards run things like changing coaches every few months, sacking coaches 2 months before a WC despite the problem being that the fucktards that doing the sacking are the ones that did not pay salaries or bonuses that led to poor performance.

How can FIFA let too much power sit in the hands of fucktards in societies that:

- Vote for Presidents that were on a charge for instigating election violence that led to the death of people?
- Vote for a President who when he was in-charge of his country's AIDS prevention programme said he had unprotected sex with someone he knew was HIV positive but he tried to prevent himself by taking a shower later?
- Vote for a President with no achievements, and who showed how stuuupid he was when the President was dead and the wife of the dead seized power with a cabal, all because they believe he has been lucky, his name is Goodluck so he would bring luck to the nation.

So, yes, FIFA is right and brilliant for centralising power as much as possible instead of distributing it around the world where we have many fucktards in position of authority. That is why football has been the most successful sports in the world.

The only problem with the centralisation is that the central powers themselves are corrupt to an extent. Only that their corruption is not as damaging as the one we will have in distributed power.

Maybe we would have Presidents just waking up one morning sacking the FA officials and appointing the heavy-makeup ashawo girlfriends of themselves and acquaintances to run football and loot as much as possible.

beryl04: Catholic Bishop: Antigay Attitudes 'Sick' and 'Heartless'
Mexican bishop Raúl Vera once again speaks out strongly on behalf of LGBT people.
BY TRUDY RING
JULY 15 2014 3:00 PM ET

Bishop Raúl Vera
Mexican bishop Raúl Vera, one of the strongest advocates for LGBT people within the Roman Catholic Church, is speaking out again, this time saying, “People who say homosexuals are sick are sick themselves.”
Vera, the bishop of Saltillo in northern Mexico, made the statement in an interview published Monday in the Spanish and Latin American newspaper El País. He did not go so far as to endorse same-sex marriage, but he took a more progressive stance than is common in his church.
The interviewer said, “Not long ago you baptized the daughter of a lesbian couple. What do you think about homosexuality?” Vera responded, “That is a topic that we have refused to address. The people who say homosexuals are sick are sick themselves. The Church needs to come to them not with condemnation, but with dialogue. We cannot cancel out a person’s richness just because of his or her sexual preference. That is sick, that is heartless, that is lacking common sense.”
The church’s official stance is that LGBT people deserve respect and compassion, but it strongly opposes homosexual acts and same-sex marriage.
Vera also took a stance, similar to Pope Francis’s, that opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage should not be the church’s only priorities. He said he considers abortion murder, but added, “Abortion, just like same-sex marriage, has served us [as] subterfuge to tell ourselves that we in the Church have our morals. It is very easy to go against a woman who has an abortion, it poses no trouble and we have support from the ultraconservative right. When there was a national campaign against abortion here, I organized rosary recitations to reflect on the defense of the lives of migrants, miners and women as well as the unborn. But we are hypocrites. It would seem that the only moral rules deal with condemning same-sex couples and abortions. You do that and you’re the perfect Christian.”
El País notes that in the past, Vera’s advocacy for oppressed people, including gay people and the poor, had gotten him into trouble with the church’s hierarchy. In 2011, when John Paul II was pope, the Vatican investigated Vera’s work with a gay group. But much has changed under Pope Francis’s leadership.
“For a long time, Raúl Vera was the Catholic Church’s black sheep, the old-fashioned left-winger,” the article reads. “But that was until the ideological earthquake represented by the new pope, Francis I, gave renewed relevance to his words. Now, other bishops are suddenly turning to Vera for guidance.”
The bishop is a person for not thinking homosexuals do not have something wrong with them.

The writer is a person for labeling those that think homosexuals are sick as "homophobes" and labeling the action of the pastor "progressive" so that more fucktards can be brainwashed that they are funky when they support homosexuality.

AjanleKoko: Nigerians scoring lower in masculinity may be connected to the low level of pragmatism. Maybe?
I just checked the criteria for masculinity dimensions:

"The masculinity side of this dimension represents a preference in society for achievement, heroism, assertiveness and material rewards for success. Society at large is more competitive. Its opposite, femininity, stands for a preference for cooperation, modesty, caring for the weak and quality of life. Society at large is more consensus-oriented."

Maybe in tough and suffering societies, if you are not one of the rich and you are part of the majority poor, you will need cooperation to survive on the long run. And also Africans tend to care for their old people as a community.

That said, I am surprised UK scored higher than USA on these criteria. undecided

OmoEziokwu: Well I didn't add that I was looking at things from a social mobility standpoint (the OECD report). It seems to be higher in North America generally than in the UK, that's why I'm a bit surprised that the Hofstede Power Distance Index is lower in the UK than in North America. You can see it here:

http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/map/hofstede-power-distance-index.html

I wanted to get your perspective on this.
My inchoate thoughts:

The UK has a lower power distance because the society is more skewed towards socialism than USA which is pure capitalist.

The reetards are even refusing a free healthcare system. undecided

UK has adopted a bit of socialism because of is higher ethnic homogeneity, the smaller population size and geography, its closeness to other socialist European nation and the rebelling against the old aristocratic system. US have challenges different to this.

The little bit of socialism and less capitalism has led to more favourable labour laws, which means I can basically tell my boss to fck off and I might still not get sacked .....joking. grin And they also have a generous welfare system.

In the US, they have looser labour laws and people can get fired more easily, which would mean you will naturally kiss arsse more. Worse still, when they have less generous welfare system if you lose your means of income. Secondly, capitalism also increases the divide between rich and poor, which would also add to the arsse kissing, hence more power distance.

Because of lack of aristocratic past and low homogeneity, then social mobility is likely to be more merit based. Unlike the UK where everyone on top is from a narrow clique of wealthy family and who all went to Oxbridge. Only about 1 former UK PM in the last 70 years or so did not go to Oxbridge. 90% of High court judges used to be from Oxbridge, now it has been forced down to 80% in the last 20 years. Just these 2 universities.

In the US, leaders can come from a wider spread of different backgrounds, regions and universities. Also the affirmative action practiced at university level there carries on into later career mentality. In the UK, if you did not go to Oxbridge, it is almost impossible to get some jobs. Simples.

milehigh06: and he is also playing in an era when players are over-protected...you think Messi will survive a tackle from Terry Butcher,Lothar Matheus,Jaap stam, the italian defenders who wrecked "The real ronaldo"s career...Messi is not doubt one of the best ever but in comparism to Maradona and pele,He is below them
You have an argument there in terms of tackles and hard balls and all that, but by and large, I think the advantages that exist in the Pele era which led to the things that made him be called "great", his loads of goals, are more significant.

Off-side rules were very lax. Defenders were poor. Keepers were even more poor. Team tactics was not great. Players were not fit nor were they professionals.

If you were a fit and skilful then, you would be a giant in their mix.

As for Maradona, even though they are different kinds of players, there really is nothing he has done individually that Messi has not replicated.

Messi has the goals, the dribbles, the speed, the skills, the brains and everything the other 2 lack.

Sagamite, how do you respond to the claims that he couldn't possibly be the greatest ever because football is easier these days than in eras past.

Yeah, it's absolute hogwash. But I'll love to hear your angle to the debate.
That is absolute tosh, mate.

Just go to youtube and dig out old football videos to show any person that tells you that.

Let them see how the keepers and defenders were poor during the likes of Pele era. Keepers that dive like my grandfather for the ball.

Messi is playing football in an era when all footballers are top level, athletic professionals, not part time fishermen and carpenters.

He is playing in a era where fitness is supreme and tactics are on point. And he looks like Jesus in the midst of these super athletes.

Definitely the greatest.

Right! I also thought they noticed how really influential he was in Argentina's run to the final. He was involved in 7 out of the total 8 goals scored by Argentina in the finals.

He created the most chance at goal of 21, the highest in the competition, and it is no fault of his that it is in his era that Argentina was blessed with such impotent strikers.

He plays a different role for Argentina than he does for Barca, and if he had been gifted with the chances that Higuain, Aguero and Palacio had fluffed, I'm sure Messi would have buried them. The forwards were so shambolic. They let Messi down!

But I do notice that Messi makes less movement these days. He prefers strolling on the field, a sharp contrast to his unpredictable runs, even when strongly man-marked, of a few seasons ago. Maybe it's another intelligence strategy, but I think it makes him less involved in games.

Well said, mate.

We don't

If our FA choose to be stupid then our government have a duty to protect us from the corrupt FA if necessary

Maigari and his board wrote the silly and misleading letter that led to this suspension. Well let the NFF board have their FA with no country to represent

FIFA is benefiting from everyone cowing to them. Let's call them bluff and build our league at home. We have not been able to even drag the attention of our people to even our own league. Let's focus on that project it's more important.
That is the reality.

If an intelligent person like me was a minister, this is what I would have done a long time ago.

- I would have withdrawn the money
- I would have studied FIFA's election criteria and process
- Starved people at state level of money until they elect from a implicitly "select list" of competent administrators
- If any fooool gets on the board, I would withdraw a large fraction of the funds until the person is voted out or, my miracle, resigns
- I would also probe all public spending of that state level on the spot
- Do this for all state level and the pool of candidates available for NFF would be more sane
- If any election leads to a reetard being elected, I would withdraw money until everyone that voted for the foool is kicked out
- If you don't send a sane account of how public money is spent, I would not sack you, but you will have to operate from jail
- Football will first suffer for a few years, but at the end, a sane administration that understands consequence would emerg.

You have the option to put it under Nigerian laws and be excluded.

The Brazilian government can choose not to or demand to be paid. FIFA would take their party elsewhere.

I can set up the Nigerian Intellectual Association and decide to get people to represent Nigeria, I don't need to be elected.

Where is the NFF based and registered? Nigeria!

Who have Nigerians elected to oversea all maters within and outside Nigeria on their behalf? Nigerian Government

FIFA needs to be taken to court here. They are getting away with murder. They use state resource to host tournaments. The stadiums, transport system and security for the 2014 World Cup was provided for by the Brazillian Government. So who says government are not involved in sports.

I pray someone takes FIFA to court! If you fail at the court of arbitration for sports but you can still appeal at a higher court in Switzerland. Even FIFA is subject to the legal system in Switzerland so why does FIFA expect NFF to be immuned from Nigerian courts?
You case arguments would be thrown out of court so fast, it would be ridiculous.

FIFA football membership is like an international social club.

You can be thrown out of or excluded from the club.

So because an entity is based or registered in your country means he government can come and change the leadership?

But win or loose Nigeria should test this FIFA rule at the court of arbitration for sports in Switzerland

NFF is an institution registered in Nigeria and also represent the sports interest of Nigerians. They must be subject to Nigerian courts and listen to the views of the democratically elected representative of the Nigerian people which is the government

I maintain that win or loose Nigeria should take FIFA to court!

If we loose then we can re-instate the current board. But we can not allow the current board carry on without a fight!

FIFA handed the certificate to host the next World Cup to Vladamir Putin! Who the last time I checked is still a political leader. This FIFA denial that politicians and government can't get involved needs to be challenged
Handing a certificate ceremonially to a President is not "evidence" of political involvement.

That argument is so lame.

Politicians are free to get involved or not. FIFA needs them but can also afford to ignore them if they don't want to be involved.

It is called monopoly of supply.

You are making a definitive assumption that the NFF board members have the interest of the nation at heart, and would be altruistic enough to put the interest of the nation ahead of their pockets when they have a system run by FIFA that makes them untouchable.

That is really a shocking assumption that suggest you are not a Nigerian or you be JJC.

The only way these fucktards would give way is if FIFA decides to pull the platform they stand on and throw them to the dogs by also not supporting them with money.

Neither would my world class Alma mater take a person who states "Nigerian doctors are highly celebrated offshore, whether you like it or not" without any reference, peer comparisons or evidence. grin grin grin grin grin grin

person, you are intellectually below my feet!

OuchDaddy: Why are u so childish?? why openly insult our President like that?? you can make ur points which I find Applausive, but u don't have to be so Insultive to the Number1 Citizen... its very WRONG..
I normally would not insult people that don't insult me while trying to "advise" me but I am going to tell you that you are a cretinous person!

If you think I have the mentality of African reetards that respect people by virtue of their position instead of the respect their character commands, you need your head checked. No wonder Africa is a shithole!

I should respect a cretin destroying people's lives because he is labelled No 1 Citizen? You are a cretinous person!

I am too intelligent to be immersed in such moronic cultural outcomes of Hofstede's high power distance societies.

So the person GEJ appointed as Sports Minister did not know this was what he should have done before being a foool that got Nigeria suspended?

Don't give money to people that cannot account for it. Simple!

Pay national coaches directly and reimburse players some limited expenses from a QRT (Quick Response Team) you set-up as a unit directly under the minister. The longer the Board takes removing ay person, the more of their pay they lose.

You do not need to change the board, just don't fund it. If the board members can not decide to vote out fucktards, then they would be starved of funds or get it from FIFA.

Don't talk, just don't pay and lets see what FIFA can do.
