Good morning my chiefs in the house, please can i connect two 450w or 500w panels in series to a 30a MPPT charge controller (its for a 24v system). the controller has a max pv input of 100v (so i know it can handle the voltage of the two panel in series), am just concerned about the total wattage if the controller can handle 900 or 1000 watts of power

It will work just fine, insofar as the VOC is within range you have no problems; for the wattage the CC will cut off at the max watt for the system, since it's 30a at 24v, it should be between 720w - 800w. I have a similiar setup with 2pcs 400w Jinko panels in series attached to a victron CC 100 30 and it works flawlessly.

I thought that the function of the bms if we use chargers or inverters meant for lead acids batteries.

The function of the BMS is to cut off at set points, but to achieve that one has to be conservative, unfortunately the parameters we use is to squeeze out every ounce of power from the battery, so at the end of the day we charge it like a lead acid battery.

I intend going into this soon as resources to build Lithium-ion is very costly now, and majorly most parts I used in building are always ordered from China.

From my own perspective or view, it seems lifepo4 cells bloat like the regular powerbank cells, what are the majors in place to tackle this issue?

Most battery chemistries will bloat when over charged, same is attainable with our banks but if care is taken to charge it as it should, you won't have a problem with bloating.

Have you asked why the chargers made for lithium batteries generally are Constant Current and Constant Voltage systems? Once it gets to the desired voltage it stops, no need for absorption. However due to the fact that we still use inverters or chargers (due to cost or financial restraint) meant primarily for lead acid batteries, we tend to slightly overcharge our batteries which in turn results to bloating. If we however stay within the range then bloating would not be a problem, but very slight bloating is expected and totally natural.

200a JK Bluetooth BMS with 1a active balancer from Valto. 3000w pure sine wave inverter.
I used 6mm cable. My battery is 314ah.

What the voltage of your system? 12v 24v or 48v cos 6mm cable is actually too small for a 12v or 24v, even a 48v system will struggle.

Also look at your bms setting to ascertain the settings for your charge and discharge cos most BMS come preset to just 40a.

Revert when u can.

Actually, I was trying to power a 1HP Astra Sumo pump using an 18650 battery pack.
After that, I built an 8kW LiFePO4 system and installed a 0.5HP Sumo pump instead.
The reason for the downgrade was that the LiFePO4 setup couldn’t handle the surge required to start the 1HP pump. So, I had to switch to the 0.5HP unit.

What's the size of the bms used in the build as well as your inverter size and voltage. Please also provide the max amp draw of your pumps if possible.

Most lifepo4 cells can handle output of 1c even though we're advised to run continuously at 0.2 - 0.5c, so if your battery is a 300ah battery pack you can pull 300a without issues, your only limitation will be your BMS and cable size.

So do provide us the above let's critic ur build

On 25v charge, it drops to 24v, then pump starts behaving as if I am trying to power it with a low current.
I will charge to 28v and try.

What's your panel configuration? Parallel or Series?

I plan on getting without a shunt.

Without a shunt you can only measure voltage but not amperage. So if u're using for just voltage display then it's fine but if u need to measure capacity then you need a shunt.

Note that based on the amount of current u'll be passing through the meter, you should endeavor to get an adequately spec'ed one for the purpose. Cheers

260k for 4kwh, I think Will Prowse tested these cells a few years ago and while they're grade B you can pull about 95% rated capacity.

Just depends on if they're properly matched + BMS quality. Also if you even get your order

15V to 16V is no longer a 12V system.

You can tell me that you will use a bulk converter and set it to maybe 12.6V or 12.8V depending on the battery type. But telling me that a 16V or 15V is a 12V system is false.

Bros calm down, most 12v inverter systems safely run BTW 10.5v - 15v, the sachet inverters do BTW 9.5v - 15v, while victron does BTW 9v - 17v and they're all 12v systems.

A quick question though,if you don't put them under 12v where would you fit it?
