Abi oh, some arguments are just not worth the time to type it. The weight, the space, the maintenance period and the danger of spilling acid everywhere, yet some people hold on to an argument cos it's their forte.

Has anyone asked why the sudden resurgence of solar in Nigeria? Trust me it's not cos of Band A, it's because of the stability Lithium batteries has brought to installations. The fail rates for installations has drastically reduced, that's why anyone can claim to be an installer and can pass cos Lithium just works.

Installers know the shege pro max they suffered in the hands of lead acid batteries, some still dey igbobi after suffering from broken backs. Lolz

You need maths to tell you the viability of a Lithium battery decreases as it ages even while still on shelves. Keep waiting

Do grace me with a response on the shelf life of lithium battery is lead acid batteries. (Lithium when stored at BTW 50 -70% SOC or even while used will degrade to 80% in 10yrs) meaning you only lose 20% capacity in 10yrs, while lead acid will sulphate even while sitting on the shelf for only a year and if not attended to, will permanently damage in 2yrs if not desulphated.

As for the so called war, I tell you say na person without personal experience go bother. Those wey Tubular or GEL / SLA / VRLA / AGM battery don serve, go hear all the praises rained on Lithium batteries, rush go buy am; hopefully they don't get disAppointed if they're Lucky or their useCase fits in.

Another set are FRESHERs (new Comers) to Solar world.

For the likes of Us wey don dey play with chemicals, from small, come still dey extract batteries from laptop batteries at less than age 18-years old dey build mini backUps, I wonder wetin those wey only got to know solar when it became popular thanks to APC regime wan tell us.

Personally, I decide when to go Tubular, and when to go SLA / GEL. Lithium has got it's place especially if size (Portability) & weight is a consideration - the more reason it's used in electric Cars / Bikes (weight factor) , Gadgets e.g Phones, PCs, etc (portability).

Mind you, Lead Acid batteries are much cheaper upfront than lithium based batteries. Similar reason a lot of people prefer buying Generator, than going Solar.
Lithium batteries can cost as much as 2 to 3 times more upFront.

What about Simplicity, and the fact it's been battle tested and rugged.

Tubular is between 250-270k for 220ah. It is not 100ah DOD but 176ah or roughly 2.1kwh

24v 2.5kwh lifepo4 is 600k.

So how's this math correct? Have u forgotten it takes 2pc of the 220ah to get 24v? Which in turn means that u're getting 2.1kwh (according) to ur maths at 540k (bear in mind that tubularor gel or any other lead acid offeringat this price point is substandard), while still according to ur maths, u're getting 2.5kwh for 600k, mind you this includes a smaller size, faster charging, longer battery life and of course no maintenance.

Bros no vex but try calm down small, let's not overflog this issue, the lithium vs lead acid battery comparison war ended almost 2yrs ago.

Una well done oh, I originally didn't wat to comment but let me just drop this here. NOTE: This is purely my opinion.

The use or not of a BMS has been a long standing debate, however, let's state it that STANDARD PRACTICE recommends that one uses a BMS, over time the standard BMS has evolved and is no longer just an over/under voltage protection to an all-in-one monitoring system, nonetheless for individuals who have the technical and practical knowhow, they can do just fine without one especially in a small to medium size home use scenario; However for most medium to large scale installs, a BMS is a must, Also for beginners the addition of a BMS in your install is highly advised and almost non-negotiable.

In every situation sha we have exceptions and true live experiences have shown us that they work and work well for that matter, @Dollarnaira's case has been seen to work and i actually copied him on one of my builds, and truth be told it has worked flawlessly even though the bank is only used sparingly, but the fact remains that it works.

Funny enough, a lot of so called SELLERs would tell you inverters don't work that way. Probably because their knowledge is limited

Please don't do this, you're confusing a lot of people with this narrative, most manufacturers include all voltage ranges in ads cos apart from the voltage and capacity differential every other component is the same, so they use the 12v/ 24v/ 36v/ 48v narrative at a stretch to explain the specs of the inverters, most of the top brands like victron have a wider voltage range but it's still an either/or.
Except you can show me a new tech that can do this (apart from solar charge controllers), I'll be inclined to disagree with your narrative. Cheers

What's your estimated max amp draw from the battery (your BMS)? if more than 40a, i would suggest you add one more strip of nickel per 3v pack to help beef up the amp handling capacity of the pack. Just thinking aloud....

The SOC of all cells are different, some are 3.9v, 3.2v, 3.5v and 4v.

What was the SOC of both batteries before you connected it? Cos if there's a difference in the SOC, power will move from high to low as stated by dollarnaira. Standard practice would be to charge all battery cells to a voltage of 4.2v, let it rest for awhile then weld together.
