Littlehooper: u are talking rubbish... OAU HAS A WHOLE HAS A GOVERNING COUNCIL... THE WHOLE FAULT IS ON UNIBEN UNIVERSITY.. THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE DAT BEFORE NOW
FOR EXAMPLE,OAU WILL SCREEN HER STUDENTS IN 100LVL,300LVL N @ D TIME OF DEPARTURE... THE VC SAID DAT,'THERE IS NO GOVERNING COUNCIL UNTIL HE ASSUME THE POST AS VC... IS THAT AN EPITOME OF THE BEST UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA... CAPITAL NO!!!
HIGH NUMBER OF CANDIDATES PUTTING IN FOR UNIBEN DOESN'T MEAN UNIBEN IS D BEST.... EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT OAU POST UTME IS NOT EASY TO PASS...
MR.VC UNIBEN IS NOT D BEST UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA. IT WILL TAKE A LONG JOURNEY FOR UNIBEN TO BE AMONG D BEST 100 UNIVERSITY IN WORLD. WHY CAN'T HE SAYS BEST 5O OR 20..
You are just ranting like a sweating goat, there was a governing council in the University when his predecessor the former V.C Prof. E. A. C. Nwanze was there, the council was only dissolved with the tenure expiration of the former VC. It was during the search for the current VC when the then acting VC the Deputy VC a Lady Prof. that i can't quite place her name right now was instigating an illegal approach to install herself as the VC then that led to the dissolution of the existing council until the Current Prof. Oshodin came on board as the VC after several lingering tussles. So don't open your wide odoriferous mouth to say what you don't know. And yes UNIBEN is the top university, what about it? Is that what should be bothering you? Or the decadence that has pervaded the Education sector in Nigeria.

From the Present Past to the Present Future. Dear Futuristic Nairalanders....i have only hijacked this space to think of what i may be writing on it for your own posterity. There are quite a few pleasant things that would come into this space as well as unpleasant one's as well. But the story ain't started yet, so just sit tight and sit back and wait to allow me take you into a time's journey of the events and happenings of my world this present millenia, things that would be invaluable in application to your own time and millenia. PS: As a nairalander during the era i existed, i think every beautiful story normally had a happy ever after ending and in this i think it would end in similar fashion because i might get to woo the OP[Spicymimi(f)] of this thread and convince her to marry me in a very rosy and beautiful ceremony to make it a very happy ending to my Utopia Nairalanders. I'll brb to conclude this letter. Hehehe....I can already see my future descendant nairalander in the yr 2999(i.e if the world doesn't come to an end before then) viewing this post. Sincerely Yours, (Saint Chukz from the past).

I guess you are trying to introduce humor into this now cos you know you already goofed in that write-up. Look trying to interpret all that nonsense (ok a little bit of sense though) you wrote there your own way won't do you any good. You can't change the world from that perspective, even if you were to attempt it, the forces against it will overwhelm you. Just beat it, there is no way you can win this argument and it is not a must you get married oh because it is a Man's world and the status quo ain't changing soon till thy kingdom come. If i'm an arrogant caveman...i guess that makes you what......erm...let me guess a -----K---- fill it in yourself?

I heard the Hammer also came heavily upon one Dr. Osagiede of the Mathematics Department...Men if that's true then it must be a very good development because that guy was practically corrupt to the extent that the Code name for him was HOLD TABLE which were words he normally told to the female students in the department who go to him to solicit for marks while extorting money from the guys was the order of the day. I'm surprised they didn't mention anyone from my former department...uhmm it seems those old punks over there have a way of covering up their very dirty tracks.

Eklektika: gnostic this, gospel of mary that. See as you don enter 1 chance! I pity you! All these books you are quoting are occultic books meant to water down the Greatest Book Ever Written. The Bible is Homogenous,Indivisible, and a Compendium. It is GOD in Written form. (A)Gnostic are a group of occultists not disimilar to eckankar and grail message.
Na this kind mindset wey una get,na im cause the fall in the Garden of Eden. That is what is fueling the worship of the queen of heaven in the catholic church. That is what has lead to the peaking of divorce in the west. That is what has led to the debasement of family system, breaking the moral backbone of the society. That is why the church today is termed a LovePeddler and a harlot, because she refused to keep her place. The Man is the head, the Woman is the neck. When the neck says she wants to be side by side with the head, you know what that would bring? CHAOS!
Your post would have made an excellent one to read if not for the Stupi.d and sarcastic remark you made concerning the "Worship" of the queen of heaven. Seriously...if you are trying to take a swipe at the Catholic church, you don't have to do it here, open a new thread for yourself to do that. For how long will it be driven into people's perception of the catholic church that it doesn't worship Mary the Mother of Christ, the same church that gave you the Indivisible Word of God(The Bible) which you are now trying to turn against by categorically stating what is not true.."Worship of Mary" haba...!

roqchiq: pulease...its not in the bible, its not in the bible....look around you and tell me how many things are not in the bible, is protestanism in the bible?? Read your history,@ least catholics have a history, you all are just floundering, trying to be relevant by making noise. You make a lot of noise about knowing the bible, is the word 'bible' in the bible. Catholics put the scriptures together named it 'Bible' and gave it to you, and you are feeling like you know what you are talking about. Its just like arguing your birthdate with your mother, or insisting you know who your father is,when your mama never tell you.
Martin Luther misled you all when he started protestanism, even the name protestant is suggestive, King James worsened it when he started the anglican church.

Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis Leads Global Fasting, Prayer Day For Syria Peace by SaintChukz(m): 4:10pm On Sep 07, 2013
Ubenedictus: he decleared the day of fasting immediately after the chemical weapon incident. Before then he was asking world leaders to help in negotiations, both benedict 16 and francis has been advocating peace and prayer for syria long before the fightings reached their present proportions, the gear simply changed when chemical weapons entered the scene. There is yet no conclusive proof that it was the assad government that used the gas so please drop your emotional arguement and stop acting like francis started the war.

karpentar: If somebody is numb and dumb, it's you. This is a special call for fasting and prayer by the pope and not the same as the daily prayers for world peace. So it's something new.
But, I tell you, no amount of prayers will stop Assad from his killings. An intervention by a more powerful force is needed to save the helpless Syrians.
You reason with your bottom, otherwise you wouldn't state sheepishly that (The US or whatever force you call it) is more powerful than the power of prayers and the power of GOD. Keep on proliferating your dumbness by posting on this thread.

Christianity EtcRe: Pope Francis Leads Global Fasting, Prayer Day For Syria Peace by SaintChukz(m): 3:50pm On Sep 07, 2013
karpentar: After over two years of massacre leaving not less than 100,000 Syrians dead, it's now that someone is calling for fasting and prayer for Syria. Hezbollah, on several occasions openly supports and fights for murderous Assad government and there was no need for fasting and prayer. Just recently, Assad gassed his own people (including women and children) to death, the pope didn't request for fasting and prayer. Now Obama is spearheading a rescue mission to free Syrians from blood thirsty Assad and we are being asked to fast and pray against that? What a hypocritical world we live.
You are obviously numb and dumb to what has been happening around you. The Catholic Church as a whole sees it as a point of duty to pray for world peace on a daily basis, that is why even down here in Nigeria, there is a Prayer dedicated to promoting peace in Nigeria - "Prayer for Nigeria in Distress". So its nothing new for the Pope to declare such a message, what the OP failed to add was that the Pope enjoins everyone this time around irrespective of beliefs or denominations to jointly pray for World Peace and the crisis in Syria.
Please do not twist my words. I did not "try to mention the obvious, That her own ideas are not in anyway a form of protest". I think I see why you may be a little miffed: one of your previous posts mentions the Arab Spring. Believe me, I didn't even see the end of that post, so my mention of Nigerian youths trying to copy the Arab Spring was *not* a dig at you, direct or indirect.

Of course her suggestion is a sort of protest, and I never gave any indication that I thought otherwise. I also did not make any statements that could be construed as a thesis on the origins or types of protests. Obviously, my mission was to praise originality over recycling/modifying others' ideas, and for that, the Arab Spring was apropos for more than one reason. Thanks.
Ok...i get it clearer now from your own perspective. its good to see we are relatively on the same page.
If AdaEze's post is an example of an attempt at problem solving, yours is the quintessential Nigerian response: laugh at an intelligent and original idea because it has obvious flaws. My brother, if your saw some of the world-changing technologies you use today in their original form, you will be disappointed. The best ideas always start off with kinks which, given the ingenuity that led to the idea in the first place, are usually solvable.

Solving a problem the intelligent way is hard, no doubt, but doing so almost always yields pay-back beyond the scope of the original problem. The easy way is to just take what others did to solve theirs and adapt, hence so many Nigerian students cast envious looks at the Middle East and wish a Nigerian Spring would wash away all our problems (and hence the renewed emphasis on protests).

If all Nigerian students (and lecturers!) thought like AdaEze, we wouldn't even be having this strike action.
@ Prof. Although i quite acknowledged her ideas were ingenious...but by what you have stated here, are you trying to mention the obvious - That her own ideas are not in anyway a form of protest? Or are the Arabs the originators of protests? Don't protests occur all around the world? The only difference i noted is that her's were a deviation from the norm. And when i say i see a revolution looming, it doesn't mean it must follow the same violent path that we have become acclimatized to. Anyway what's all this sermon for in the first place, when we know the likely outcome of such a move.

Adaeze003: Instead of a protest, why not reassemble in our schools and start learning? Can't we demand our libraries and departments be open so that we can have access to materials? After all non-teaching staff are not on strike and the schools are federal and state properties! Not the lecturer's.

Our final year students can teach the 3rd yrs, 3rd years teach the 2nd yrs and so on. The final year students can also access the wifi(for schools that have) and do their project research.

Truth is, the FG don't care and neither does ASUU. Protesting will lead to violence and our police men who know next to nothing on how to handle such issues will shoot and kill innocent people. And we'll stay even longer. So, why not try something different?

The radio n tv stations will take note of this(if they don't we'll drag their attention) and report it on the news.
This can work if we're serious enough. And will go a long way in hastening this process by touching the heart of some of our lecturers.

My take...
Good and Ingenious thinking...if only this could work, but sorry this idea won't work in 9ja, because it will only amount to dismantling completely the structure of our Universities. ASUU as an organ/body will see it as a calculated effort to jeopardize their own struggle and agitations, so on the assumption that a few good hearted lecturers might be touched to return to the classroom, i don't see that as a chance. Perhaps for how long will it be on for? A week? A month? - its a real complex situation out there as ASUU is more determined than ever before to strike home their demands this time around. I see a revolution looming.....maybe its time for our own Arab spring.

EducationRe: NANS Threatens To Shut Down Private Universities Over ASUU Strike by SaintChukz(m): 11:23am On Sep 06, 2013
olivertwist: MY assumptions after going through most comments above is that:

1) Most NLs that are against NANS threat are family members of the elites who can afford to send their children to private universities or maybe,

2) Most of them are just sympathetic with GEJ at the expense of Nigerian poor students or maybe,

3) Most of them don't really understand what 'Hell' it is, to be a University student in Nigeria or maybe,

4)These set of people don't realise that, David Mark, Tambuwal, OBJ, GEJ, Ameachi, OUK, Tinubu,Sambo, IBB, Fashola, NOI, SLS, Okorocha, Tony Anenih, all senators, govs, house reps, ministers, special advisers (SA) to president, SA to govs, commissioners, etc will never send their children to public universities, hence, no one cares if Poor public university students stay at home for 4years or not.

5) Finally, without disrespecting anyone here, I strongly believe most commentators on this topic are either secondary school drop-outs who are now into trading of some sort (hence the beafing of uni students) or perhaps, they are half-baked graduates who are govt paid agents like Beaf & co.

Lastly, I strongly support ANYTHING that will put a final end to strikes in Nigeria universities.

For those saying or thinking NANS threat is just an empty threat, remember, an Idle mind is the devil's workshop. If these guys are pushed to the wall, the middl east problem will be like a joke.

Govt needs to do more for Education in Nigeria. No more mouth service.Enough is enough.
